I had to live for work reasons in Madrid, where rent would cover up almost 60% of my income (just rent, not even talking about food). I invested in a 2nd hand ford transit. I cheaply remodeled it with ikea wood. Used a baterry i took everyday to work to charge and i showered in the gym. I ended up parking 2 blocks away from my work. Saved 50% of my income every month. Plus still having a van to go skiing, route in europe in summer or anything i need.
Love the pre-war apartment and the roof top apartment. BTW, you should also mention if pets are allowed in any of the apartments. I am not familiar with NY so I don't know if it is normal for people to have pets when renting.
Not sure if I'd have a dog in NY unless I had a balcony to set out one of those artificial grass patches that collects waste underneath. It's really the only way a dog can do its business. Otherwise it's a long trip to get to the ground floor and there's literally nowhere for them to go.
Love the building, and that last apartment. The closets alone make it an outstanding place. The 3D fridge does belong in this apartment. There are so many ways to be creative with the non-working fireplace. This is the first apartment I've seen that has its own laundry room, not two machines stuffed into a bathroom. For people who can afford it, it's a great place.
I absolutely love these apartment videos but every time I watch one it makes me thank God that I do not live in New York City. In Texas I’m paying $1550 a month for a three bedroom, 3 bathroom, two-story, 1400 square-foot apartment in a really good neighborhood.

Any human who chooses to live like this as opposed to living on 4 acres with a pond and a 2500 sq ft house in flyover country for the same amount of money is beyond me. To each his own, I suppose. Actually, I had to edit this. For $6,200/month mortgage, you're looking at 6,000 sq ft with 10 acres, pool, etc., etc.
Oooooh, I don't half fancy that last apartment - I could actually fit all my junk, books, ballet barre - golly, everything in here, and still have room to move about!! Charles really does have some great apartments - and you and he seem to be developing your double-act! Great job. Greetings from my side of the Pond.
the box one with the terrace is quite cool, but that 2nd floor one is a banger! what i'd love to see to round up these presentations would be a floorplan/layout pic, either as a flash frame during the video or in the youtube description. that would really help completing the idea of what we are looking at.
I pay like $3k to live in a high-rise in downtown San Diego and think its nuts and can barely afford it. I have no clue how people justify paying like 3x that for an old apartment in a pretty beat up building. I get the allure of NYC but you gotta really love it to stay there long term paying that kind of premium. I can't wrap my head around owning a house in Southern California but for these prices, you could and you'd own it...eventually... in a beautiful place. I guess you love the city or are there for family and or work...like anywhere i suppose
yeah I don't see how anybody, with any job other than CEO OF A FORTUNE 500 could manage to spend $6200 every month on just rent... This is not realistic for 99.9% of people's salaries.
I love, love, love! the older classic apartments. The last one is the best, just because of the size. I like how they updated it. However, I wish they left a little more character in it. in my books, NEVER paint good old wood. Some of that trim, and ceiling details, would have added more warmth. But still a type of NY apartment I would absolutely enjoy!
6.2K dollars for this? Bro rents in NY are asanine. This is like 9 months worth of rent for my place. And i have a living room, a dining room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two storage spaces, a parking space, a personal garden. With that kind of money i could buy a house in Germany and completely pay it off in 4-5 years. That's fxcked !
I lived in a 100sf apartment on top of a building on the upper east side (for $200/month with heat, hot water and electricity included!), the bathroom was in the hallway but I was the only one up there so it was mine, it was super quiet, the 2 windows were huge and I had the rest of the roof as a large terrace. Lots of sun and a kick ass view. I built a loft bed which gave more room on the floor level. It was actually on top of a luxury building with doorman, etc, half a block from central park and in an incredible neighborhood. It had everything that a larger apartment would have, only smaller. The building allowed pets so I even had my cat there. It was crazy. I got the arrangement from a friend after an emergency of getting out of a domestic violence situation, and it was my little slice of peace and recovery. I actually loved that place and miss it sometimes.😅
That's in the first amendment, that you can record or take pictures from public property? I guess that's why we have so many great photographic moments of the founders of the nation, real slices of life.
He wasn't on public property when the guard said that. The guard informed him that he couldn't film ON the premises. And for what it's worth, not every publicly accessible area is legally considered a "public area".
The penthouse apartment has a fantastic terrace. But the last apartment is the winner. You can decorate all you want in the huge living area. The building is definitely pre-war because it is illegal now to have a bedroom access only through the kitchen. It's a fire safety issue. But you can make it an office or library room.
All three are very nice but if I had to take one it would be #3 I could sit in the window after work eat bagels and see who gets mugged. Great showing Cash and Charles.
A great video. All three are pretty pricey but, in the NYC scheme of things, they're probably worth it. I love #3 with its wonderful architectural features and size, #2 is almost as large and I think it's the best value. Love Charles who always has great apartments. He must do very well! I watch all of your videos even though I could never afford any of them! I really enjoy your neighborhood tours and your lively commentary!
Hilarious! I lived in NYC in the 60"s when rents were in the hundreds for a studio with a view of a brick wall. all buildings were "prewar" & the layout was equally quirky as these gems. Your apt tours made me laugh so hard and remember how weird NY apts can be no matter how high the rent..
Charles never disappoint! All 3 are great places. I saw the short on the 3rd & couldn't wait to see the whole thing. Cash is right tho. I think the refrigerator in the 2nd apartment really belongs in the 3rd. But what is that appliance right next to what I'm assuming is the washer? I've never seen that b4. & I love how they've hidden the gas meters in cabinets.
I love you Cash you make me miss my home NYC and at the same time make me so HAPPY I moved away 11 years ago. Way to expensive in NYC moved to Arizona which is getting expensive too 😂
I can't believe I have to suffer the indignity of not living in that classic 6. What I would give for one of those. They sure don't make them like that anymore.
On apt #1, o love the many windows and the deck. If the tenant can decorate it in any way they want with furniture, plants, lights and shades, it would be amazing!
Wasn't that first apartment with the big terrace Sigourney Weaver's apartment from Ghostbusters? Does that make Charles, literally, The Keymaster? Nice apartments. One of my favorite areas of NYC. But the rents are about 5X what my New Jersey 2-bed condo would rent for (if I wanted to rent it). But that wrap-around terrace is lots bigger than my balcony. BTW, are these apartments air conditioned? I didn't see any A/C.
That is a crazy amount of patio space. Although, given the noise and air quality in NY, I have reservations about having half my living space be outdoors.
9:06 That fridge/stove door situation cannot be adjusted unfortunately. Unless you moved the stove to the ledt side (but then it wouldn't be under the vent, so you'd have to moce the vent too) or you moved the fridge, which has it own custom space built. Very poor planning by this landlord. It's either a total redo involving dismantling some cupboards or it stays that way, and that price is gonna have to come down. As moving the fridge would implicate moving the laundry (and then, pipes) i'd say switching some cabinets around and cutting the counter to move the vent & stove to the left is your only option. That mistake is gonna be costly. Can you tell i've been a landlord for a number of years? Yeah.
This is a great apartment, shocked that it's not occupied. I have checked out the other available apartments in this building and many are higher priced (granted, they have 2 & 3 bedrooms) - it shows that there are plenty of people out there who can afford this. I would love for someone with good taste to rent it and then give us a tour after it's decorated so we can see how the space works, because when homes are furnished they somehow look even larger.
Someone built narrow apartment in a shopping mall in between two retail stores. Apparently, an architect goofed on the blueprints and there was an 8 foot gap between two stores. @@chilliwaterlickingecko5113 Yeah but you could easily install an electric unit that would give you all the heat and ambiance of the real thing. My parents are in their 70's and live in a modern condo, they love theirs. So much so that when it's hot in the summer, they put it on at night for the visual effect without the added heat.
The layout of NYC apartments are so strange I don’t think they figured out how to effectively design buildings at this time in history
First and last apartment are amazing! The first one feels like you have your own private secluded area out of the way of everyone.
That tiny apartment was amazing, but doubt i could live in NYC That rent is so $$$$$$
I had to live for work reasons in Madrid, where rent would cover up almost 60% of my income (just rent, not even talking about food).
I invested in a 2nd hand ford transit. I cheaply remodeled it with ikea wood. Used a baterry i took everyday to work to charge and i showered in the gym.
I ended up parking 2 blocks away from my work. Saved 50% of my income every month.
Some winters were dificult. But in 3 years i had enough to quit my job go back home buy a decent home and be a home owner by 30.
At those prices you should be able to have your pet's. 😊
Not sure if I'd have a dog in NY unless I had a balcony to set out one of those artificial grass patches that collects waste underneath. It's really the only way a dog can do its business. Otherwise it's a long trip to get to the ground floor and there's literally nowhere for them to go.
LOTS of people have pets in NYC.... emphasis on lots.
NYC is very pet friendly
@@kabob21 it's no different than having an apartment anywhere else. Still have to go down stairs or use elevators to go outside.
You know it will be a great video when you and Charles get together. Alone you crack me up, but when y'all are together it's comedy gold!
Charles cracks me up when he says the insane amount of rent
The juxtaposition of watching these videos and then immediately watching Tokyo tiny apartment videos is psycologically jarring.
I absolutely love these apartment videos but every time I watch one it makes me thank God that I do not live in New York City. In Texas I’m paying $1550 a month for a three bedroom, 3 bathroom, two-story, 1400 square-foot apartment in a really good neighborhood.
Cool, what services are within walking distance in this really good neighborhood?
@@noru_no what do you mean by services? we have plenty of shops and things like that in walking distance, but we don’t have a subway or anything obviously
I live in Dallas, and when he said that's all when the man said 6200, I almost passed out. But it is a beautiful place.
These were all stunning! I would have a hard time choosing. Always good to see the boyz together!
OMG I WANT the first apartment 4:22 that's perfect!! The wrap- around terrace and the view got me. Cash, you're really tempting me to move to New York!!
I live across San Francisco. Visiting NYC I have no idea why on earth some people pay too much for very little space on both cities.
This is the first time the title actually matches the video. I was shocked that it actually looked like a tiny house rooftop apartment.
Oooooh, I don't half fancy that last apartment - I could actually fit all my junk, books, ballet barre - golly, everything in here, and still have room to move about!! Charles really does have some great apartments - and you and he seem to be developing your double-act! Great job. Greetings from my side of the Pond.
Prewar apartments are sooooo NYC! Everyone of those apartments were fantastic 👏 👌 😍!
Why does the thumbnail for this look like I’m gonna watch a music video produced by Lyrical Lemonade
the box one with the terrace is quite cool, but that 2nd floor one is a banger!
what i'd love to see to round up these presentations would be a floorplan/layout pic, either as a flash frame during the video or in the youtube description. that would really help completing the idea of what we are looking at.
6200 is 3 times 3000
quick mafs
I love, love, love! the older classic apartments. The last one is the best, just because of the size. I like how they updated it. However, I wish they left a little more character in it. in my books, NEVER paint good old wood. Some of that trim, and ceiling details, would have added more warmth. But still a type of NY apartment I would absolutely enjoy!
Goofy that is nothing but an ugly Bronx apartment with a park avenue price tag
These are the apartments I would want to live in if I had the money. So classic
If I had the money I'd still stay deep in the countryside.
@alanrogs3990 I'd just stay deep away from new york🤣
sad
@@bertroost1675 I like the idea of living in the forest or the mountains, but I’d go stir crazy within a month.
@@BeckBeckGo I'd say that is a spiritual issue
*sees Flat (Apartment) No 3*, Oh that is nice...might have to win the UK lottery
You two are hilarious! All apartments were gorgeous but the last one was stunning!!❤❤😂😂
$200 a month. When was this? The 1970's
@@martiallife4136 I wanted to ask the same thing! lol 6200 now? That's insane!
@@martiallife4136 Nope. It was from until 2006 to 2013

Hi Cash and to your friends, wow that rooftop tiny apartment has a great view👍
NYC, you can keep it.
For 6200$ a month ….jeez. For a third of that I live in a 2 story house with a spa, huge garden and a heated garage. But not in NYC of course…
Lmfaoo I honestly watch these videos for your humor 😂😂 you always crack me up
I love watching people from New York explaining how a small, over priced apartment is so good. Texas is just built different lol
Pricey but very nice. Love them all but #3 is my fav - that sitting room is amazing. Thanks guys.
I can't believe you didn't show what was up the ladder going to the roof of the Box-Apartment.
3:42 "Know your rights." That dude needs a UA-cam channel. He speaks the truth!
Love that "banter" back n forth! You guys are awesome 😎😎
Beautiful pre-war homes, tastefully renovated, near Carnegie Hall and Central Park. Lovely indeed!
1st Amendment states from public property you can record or take pictures of anything your eyes can see. The guy was giving you good info.
@@Objectified The sidewalk is a public right of way. He was perfectly legal filming from the sidewalk and there is nothing the bank can do about it.
Not true it depends. Heck Hippa Health privacy info stopped with covid. You could literally fire anyone
Absolutely insane pay $6.200/month for a small apartment in a crazy town. World is going insane.
I saw that play and Jackman was fantastic! And those tights... 🤩
Fab places today! Almost worth the price lol, my fav is the 3rd place with the bonus room and bathroom and all that storage space.
And Cash continues his time honored tradition of checking every sink sprayer in NYC...you go, guys...
The penthouse apartment has a fantastic terrace. But the last apartment is the winner. You can decorate all you want in the huge living area. The building is definitely pre-war because it is illegal now to have a bedroom access only through the kitchen. It's a fire safety issue. But you can make it an office or library room.
The breakfast with the fam sold me right a way 🫣🪶🕊️☕💚
Bigger than expected, love Ny's ingenuity when it comes to maximizing space...
It's what's on the inside that counts. Love you Cash!!! 💕😀👍
New York is so depressing. $6200 for this bs is unreal. Spend $6200 to buy a car and drive to a regular city.
$6,200 per month? Did I hear that right? That's several hoopties right there. It's so shocking to my North Carolina senses.
Hilarious! I lived in NYC in the 60"s when rents were in the hundreds for a studio with a view of a brick wall. all buildings were "prewar" & the layout was equally quirky as these gems. Your apt tours made me laugh so hard and remember how weird NY apts can be no matter how high the rent..
#3 is the apartment I think of, when thinking of living in NYC. Love It!
For $92,400 a year it's yours.
It was a dryer of some sort, but I’ve never seen one like it.
It’s not for you..🤣
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 ain't that the truth lol
I love the 3rd apartment (pre war) I understand it’s NYC but man it’s expensive.
I love you Cash you make me miss my home NYC and at the same time make me so HAPPY I moved away 11 years ago. Way to expensive in NYC moved to Arizona which is getting expensive too 😂
I dont know why it was recommended to me but I love your silly humor. Subbed!
Best NYC apartment tours on youtube!!!!
Really nice offerings & OMG you guys together are FUN to watch❣️💯
CJ love watching you. I live in Oregon, don’t plan to move, but you are very entertaining. Best of luck to you!
Little John saved up for a small box house and used galvanized steel and wood veneer
Finally, an apartment that actually shows its price is not messing around
I can't believe I have to suffer the indignity of not living in that classic 6. What I would give for one of those. They sure don't make them like that anymore.
You and Charles make a great team 👍🏻
Having your own laundry you can use for 12 months beats a 4 month semi private deck.
On apt #1, o love the many windows and the deck. If the tenant can decorate it in any way they want with furniture, plants, lights and shades, it would be amazing!
New Yorkers are CRAZY!!! We have a 1600 Sq ft HOUSE on an acre and a half- our MORTGAGE IS 1/10th of THE RENT and will be paid off in FIFTEEN YEARS!!!
Love that "pre-war" apartment. 🙂
I’ll never live in New York if THESE are the prices for apartments!! This is astronomically and ridiculously expensive…and I live in Los Angeles!! 😮
Same. And I thought LA was bad! I can't even enjoy the apartment tours thinking about that freaking rent. 😒
That is a crazy amount of patio space. Although, given the noise and air quality in NY, I have reservations about having half my living space be outdoors.
Love to see Charles over here!
I don't mine living there. 0:02 the only problem is the price. $6,200 only if I had the money.
The rent makes sense if you get like 5 roommates
Someone built narrow apartment in a shopping mall in between two retail stores.
Apparently, an architect goofed on the blueprints and there was an 8 foot gap between two stores.
They lived there for years before someone figured it out. 8 feet wide and 50 feet long is a lot of square feet.
Very convenient for shopping.
really appreciate how you do a tour--the neighborhood to inside!
