You have more integrity than any car youtuber I've watched. The one's I know about refuse to take electric cars seriously. I appreciate your honesty and candor in evaluating this car. I've been excited about EVs for a while now, and the Saab Emily looks like a dream come true, but there are many unanswered questions yet as it's not a production model at this time. While I have issues with Tesla, they are, in fact, the standard; and they did get the ball rolling in this industry, so a comparison to a Tesla is on point. Thank you for sharing this, and for your integrity.

definitely the most informative cartuber to date. I love how be breaks down the mechanical details from a mechanic's perspective. This solidfies to me that Hyundai/Kia are still in their experimental phase of their cars and they have leagues and bounds before they catch up to longer established brands. Would love to see him do a deep review of the Ioniq 5 and 6 EV in the near future.

Do not buy a Genesis G80. I had a 2021 G80 bought used with 4k miles and sold it after 1 year since it was so bad.
      1) Front Headliner was not secured to the roof. I could see the plastic clips if i pulled it down slightly. How did this get past quality control wtf?
      2) Panoramic roof would flex and crack if i go over uneven surfaces, which never happened with any cars I've owned. Dealerships had 4 tries to fix but could not fix
      3) Weak AC that is terribly inadequate for Texas weather.
      4) Rides rough and not very comfortable even with non-run flats. Granted I had the 20 inch wheels but still.
      5) Poor NVH in general even with acoustic laminated glass compared to other luxury cars I've owned.
      6) Gas mileage for the V6 sits around 19 mpg 60/40 highway city driving which is pretty mediocre.
      7) Just does not drive as well overall as the Germans or Japanese. You can tell the Koreans brands just arent quite up to snuff when it comes to driving dynamics.

@@Fasty2107 interesting. I own a 2022 Hyundai accent I got new and I think the overall quality is okay. It's that of a 16,000$ car. It was 22k otd after taxes and a 2000$ markup.

It looks like they made an EV with all off the shelf type components. That's why the Inverter is so large (not a custom PCB), why all the coolant system is so large and weirdly routed, etc. To be honest, I think it can be a positive at times, since it should be easier to source or replace broken things. Unlike very integrated custom parts that are very expensive, because you can't just replace the one broken thing of the part.

Awesome breakdown! I'm very interested in this car. The panoramic roof is a sad face omission but from what I've learned, the European spec has an integrated solar panel roof which, in conjunction with the raised floor (due to the battery) squeezed the cabin a little too much. I speculate D.O.T. regulations also played into the omission. With that, I speculate that the rear inverter being placed so high was also due to D.O.T. requirements for weight distribution? In either case, it's a bummer but still intrigued with this car. Thank you. Great channel

G80s and 90s turn my head every time I see one. I love the interior too, especially the green and white version. I sometimes tell myself to stop comparing it to Toyota quality and just enjoy it for the beautiful styling, but ride quality is the dealbreaker. I don’t want to sound too critical here because I really love your reviews, and have already learned so much from you. Dare I suggest that it might be better to review cars that the majority of us working people can afford? I know there are plenty of other UA-camrs already doing this but most of them know very little about cars. Correct me if I’m wrong but car prices are so high right now that the vast majority of your subscribers are not going to be interested in reviews on luxury cars. Those who can afford such vehicles tend not worry about reliability and longevity because they have to stay relevant and keep up appearances.

I've read some of the comments and have to say to those that say ev are too complicated I have to agree with you that we need a competent and vast network of trained technicians to work on these vehicles but it does amuse me and makes me think of the people who were around when the first cars were becoming mainstream. I'm sure they were thinking the same thing "These things are too complicated I'll take my horse and carriage anyday." The tech isn't static and will continue to advance. Will there be missteps? Of course because it's made by fallible people but that doesn't mean we should snub them wholesale. I'm holding off on EVs until solid state batteries are the norm and the infrastructure is more widespread but I definitely want one so we can be less dependent on petroleum and the cartels than run it. Anyways I like this car. Looks elegant without having the look at me brashness some of these EVs have.

Having owned a Genesis G80 (previous generation, G80 Ultimate), I think there’s another important consideration to this brand beyond the mechanical pluses and minuses that Car Care Nut explains so well. Not something that normally needs highlighting when discussing purchase considerations - especially for luxury car brands. That is the ownership experience.
In my 3+ years of owning my Genesis, I’d describe the ownership experience as poor. Like Car Care Nut, I live in suburban Chicago. Over my 3+ years of owning my Genesis I dealt with 3 different Hyundai / Genesis dealers. The best grade I would give to one would be a D+, while the other two would definitely be D-‘s. None befitting neither a luxury brand nor a mainstream brand IMHO. And, the poor dealership experience is especially accentuated when dealing with an issue that’s other than routine maintenance on the car. With Genesis vehicles now priced at the level of the big 3 German luxury brands the ownership experience is anything but luxury in my experience.
I was told during my purchase that Hyundai revised their Genesis franchise agreement to require dealers to commit to build stand-alone dealerships in order for dealers to sell 2019 models and beyond. Perhaps there are some in other regions, but I’m unaware of any in suburban Chicago - one of the larger car markets in the country.

im in the minority in that ill never get another sunroof car again. unfortunately in some models the sunroof comes with the same packages that have other things i want.
g 80 is basically a Stinger, known for not having a generous back seat. But i can tell you, i sat in the back of a 2021 camry and i couldnt sit up. I was amazed, first time sitting in a camry and i dont fit. I had to slouch downif i didnt want to tilt my head. front seats were fine. In a stinger i have headroom but not much knee room in back. then again no one buys these cars for adults to sit in the back, thats what ES350, Avalon, even K5 are for.
Interesting tip about the rotary knob in hyundai/kia hybrids and electrics, you dont have to put it in park yourself. Hit the Off switch and it will move t he 'transmission' to park for you as it shuts down. So you dont have to worry about forgetting i guess.
my issue with these electronic shifters is, how to you put them in neutral so you can move a car when the battery is dead? There is no 'shift interlock' hole next to those knobs and buttons.

I love the videos but on the legroom thing, I'm 6'3" and I can't phathom why short people feel they need to have the front seat all the way to the back to put their legs straight. I bet you could move your front seat up at least another 4" and you'd be perfectly fine.
But given all the other points I would Def skip this car.

Any manufacturer that is not taking advantage of proper use of space, as Tesla and Lucid do, are at a disadvantage and shows poor design philosophy. Seems like these EV's are converted from ICE designs.

Genesis is already taking advantage of the E-GMP platform with the GV60 and upcoming GV90. As for the Electricfied G80, this is more of a experiment and place holder to see what is working or not on the GV60 and it cousins. Hyundai fixed the issue by building the new Kona as a EV first, then convert it over to ICE. The brand is not perfect, but they're willingness to correct and adapt exceed all other brands.

I actually think that luxury cars should have a sunroof and no sunroof option, I believe many luxury cars used to be that way. Personally I hate sunroofs and they heighten your risk of ejection in a crash, no thanks.
