INFJ Life Coach Lesson: The INFJ has a very particular set of rules. There are certain reasons we choose to do the bare minimum in certain situations, and it doesn't come from being lazy or unambitious--it's all about having long-term vision with deciding what is best for us as individuals while understanding that many people will not see your efforts toward success.

I had the opposite because from childhood I was terrified of people thinking I was lazy. I burned out so many times. Now I've realised less is more and managing where I put my energy is really important and when I get that balance I really can excel beyond my expectations in those areas that are important to me.

Absolutely. I place my energy strategic, to where it is worth

    • @SydneyRichards
      @SydneyRichards Рік тому +3

Yes!!! This makes so much sense to me!!
When I was in school, I definitely got by with doing the bare minimum to pass and often felt bad about it. I would think about how great I could be if I really put in 110% into everything I did. I would feel so guilty and think how much I lacked in self-discipline since I could never get myself to reach my full potential.
Meanwhile, I prided myself on how hard I would go whenever I was singing and dancing in the ensemble for musicals. I'd give it my all during both rehearsals and shows because I loved it and wanted to do it professionally.
Now as an adult, I recognize the same duality between work and my music career. There are some weeks where I put in too much energy into work then come home to find I don't have anything left to devote to music. This video certainly helps me to redirect my energy and focus on what's most important to me! Thank you for making this video!

I'm 26 and didn't even know about personality types until not that long ago. It's very comforting to finally understand why I am who I am and to stop thinking I'm crazy or weird. I honestly thought there was something wrong with me until I learned about these things. I can jokingly tell myself "Hey, you're not a sociopath. You're an INFJ." So thank you so much for this knowledge. It is a much needed comfort on the journey

    • @HansenFT

Technically you can be both. Maybe not psychopath, or narcissistic. Sociopath on the other hand seems possible. Since sociopaths generally know right from wrong, and have capacity for empathy and compassion at least as a potential. They're the ones that still do bad things, due to anger or socialisation etc. Don't think it's as connected to having a specific brain as psychopaths and narcissistic people:) though, I get it, you were joking😉

Very glad I found your channel! Another reason I dislike taking the responsibility to plan things is because when it turns out well others will then expect me to repeatedly take on these organizing, leadership, or planning tasks. It's okay once in awhile, but adding this kind of thing to my daily or weekly schedule pulls me from the things I need my energy for.

I love planting seeds and seeing people grow. Yes. I could do it. But why when it will help someone else to grow, and I am here if they need help. I need to invest my time where it will make more of a difference. Or just invest in my energy. It is so great to see people I mentor (whether they realize I am doing it or not). Just because I can do it better doesn't mean I should be the one doing it. The greater benefit for everyone is achieved by my letting go of some things on my plate.

Do INFJ's sometimes appear to do the minimum because they're doing a variety of things, so their focus is distracted, and/or life is naturally distracting, but the INFJ needs extended focus time, so they do the minimum? I would think INFJ's get focused and intense on something and do much more than the minimum, e.g. if that project is related to their long term vision.

This has happened to me a lot. Meaning, I’ve had bosses ask, “what did you even get done today?” Or “what did you even do today?” Some type of question like that and it’s because they don’t/can’t PHYSICALLY see ALL that I actually accomplish in one day because I’m not just working task by task in a certain order…I lay out all that needs to be done-mostly for an entire week and then work my way through doing multiple tasks for multiple jobs. Things I get done that they didn’t even know needed attention or things they didn’t even think about doing the way that I did them because I look at things from a completely different view point then most and do things as efficiently as possible for me. It’s mostly not the way they would go about doing these things cause they haven’t put nearly any thought into how to do each task-Like, I can easily see what tasks can be skipped altogether. I can easily figure out where there’s probably gonna be some blowback or afterthoughts because I have already thought out every single part to get not just 1 task finished at a time but multiple tasks too. So much so that I’ve even taken care of tasks’ follow up questions duties, cause I just know what they are gonna ask for/about. I guess I just let my intuition guide me along. Most bosses I’ve had can’t even appreciate my devotion to every little detail because I guess I’m taking away the need for their job as my boss to exist…even a lot of times thinking I’m after their job..? Uh, nope! I’m not looking for a leadership role, believe me, if I was, I’d already have their job, ya know. ☺️

I saw myself in every one of these five reasons, but probably the biggest one was and still is the low energy level. My life was complicated by contracting the Epstein-Barr virus in my early twenties, and then Lupus later on. Lupus can probably even bring an ESTP down - but in an INFJ - well - it's definitely a whammy.
And yet now, in my "golden years," I realize that I actually did get a lot done - by being a long term thinker, observing and trying to understand, and finding out more about the other person. As far as fear of judgments and consequences - well, that made me be careful to cover all the bases.
I'm sure a lot of other types (especially those with stronger SE) got more done - but I think my accomplishments were and still are good. And a lot of what I accomplished and still am accomplishing is helping other people.

you are a freaking genius at this. How quickly are you finding these thoughts? Your not, you self realize. That's why others are such a challenge once we realize they don't do those things. But we can make them self realize and it can rattle them in a good way. But not really a good gift to have.

Do I feel like I try to do the bare minimum as an INFJ? Yes. I know what the stressors are with being in a leadership position. It's babysitting nowadays. I choose to "lead from the back of the pack" instead of "climbing the ladder". Like having a SIGMA approach. Being a trained & certified mechanic, I like being the "go to guy" on certain tasks. Yet, I distance myself from leadership positions. A much better career choice for me. I am freer to expand my job knowledge and certifications as well as continue my hobby in automotive restoration without career stress bogging me down. All part of that epic INFJ life.

#1 I often ask myself is there a biologycal connection between having deep thinking abstract mind and limited phisical energy, it's an interesting one.
#2 Simple answer - advanced pattern recognition or perspective thinking, or whatever you call it.
#3 „Do not disturb, my mind is taking a break in the infinite realms of Ni, call me a little later!“
#4 It's not accidental that I am known as the agent. It's not because of this ability actually, but strange things happen sometimes. 😂
#5 You have Fe and Fe it's a harmony drive, quick and simple isn't it?
In conclusion stay true and confident to what you are because everything has it's explenation and you are not unable or uncompetent. There are no accidental things in this world, believe in your self embrase your abilities as a gift and this will take you to the next level!

During my career as a physical therapist I gave much more than almost any other therapist. I went to as many courses as I could and ended up teaching some of the information. I loved helping people become more mobile and get rid of pain so I spent time after work researching, consulting- anything to help someone get better. After I retired friends wanted me to volunteer here and there but I kept saying no or agreeing to a small job and not giving 100%. Once I found sustainable gardening in permaculture I knew I had my new passion that I could give my energy to. So, yes, I often give the bare minimum but not always.

This thing about not putting in more energy than necessary is a skill or insight that is discounted in the money-grubbing give me more more cultures. In terms of sustainability, terraforming (this biosphere) or creating viable biospheres in other places - transitory places, offworld stations, moon locations, new planets - this low energy high outcome thinking is going to be crucial. If we look to where indigenous peoples have been able to create sustainable and fertile locations it has been about doing what is necessary to gather and harvest water, ensure there is water catchment, fertile feeding grounds, niches where pollinators and natural pest controls can thrive, places where abundance can come forth, fungi create wood wide webs so there are a plethora of foods, becoming abundant at different times, so there is food and water most parts of the year. Placing people where they will not be inundated by floods or swept away by mud slides - and there is protection to protect both coastal and highland locations and keep the soil and microcosms intact. In reality, restoring this planet and its biosphere (and possibly human societies) is going to require these low energy high yield outputs. It is also sensible to design interstellar craft, offworld stations, or new locations on new moons/planets so that there is low energy input that leads to creating virtuous circles of water, food, energy, sustainability. Those who think like the dinosaurs of the high energy input such as oil or gas technology are ill-equipped to terraform this planet into stable formations, or contribute stability to offworld craft, stations, or colonizing/terraforming endeavours. Then there is the whole ethics of how that is done, and what kind of societies will spring forth, how they will be regulated and who controls their best interests. INFJ are peculiarly suited to all these endeavours - simply because they can read energy inputs going in to fractal outcomes from original inputs.

Not so much the bare minimum, but the absolute maximum in the minimum time - both in terms of output & reward. So bare minimum time, but not bare minimum work & no interest in bare minimum returns. My working day would not in any way resemble most peoples, both in terms of hours (less to me is more) & what gets done in them few hours. I need hours a day alone, just to absorb information from around the world or I'm not a happy camper.
From day 1 of employment, the whole "premise" struck me as absurd - being there for set hours, listening/obeying a "manager", doing things "The way we always do them" - erm, nope.. let's do it my way.. no set hours, the manager can stfu/go do one & I'll do things my way and you pay me according to the "payment plan" I just explained to you - the one you can't deny makes sense for us both.. Never, not ever did "an employer" go "No" - they saw the logic. Plus they liked the whole "Blimey.. he's making us a mint" aspect. That tends to get peoples attention.
Not that I lasted long in "employment" as it bored me stupid in no time at all. I think the whole concept of "employment" bores most INFJ people witless - they usually find their own way pretty swiftly. The "base rate" of pay is what, 100 quid a day? Not too many INFJ people struggle to figure out a way of making/exceeding that alone once they realise "working" for it conventionally will involve having to jump hoops set by others. Let's not. True INFJ people will also rapidly conclude "The going Rate" is a very elastic concept with a thousand nuances.

Anytime I hear the negatives about being an INFJ I understand and relate.... The benefits I have yet to experience. All an all INFJ or not I think I'm just fucked now. No energy left ever. Unless pushed against a wall and snap. 😔

So go into hiding and use your natural skills to recharge and stop being what others want you to be. We are visionaries and have the capacity to put everything into perspective. But we need to do it on our own terms with lots of quiet time and intuitive thinking.

I get what you're saying, and it's prob debatable if I've had the 'right' benefits or not because what ever I did as a married SAHM for 25yrs, I woke up one day -no energy left to finally create a life using my 'shelved-talents' plus figuring out how much of an INF & HSP w/ADHD sealed my fate. Not completely giving up on one last 'dream' but to get there...Therapy is so slow.

Hi wenzes, I wanted to ask you if you could look at a fictional character.
I've seen that you've made analogies in the past, With fight club, or the matrix, where we look a lot like the protagonists.
There is a character, itachi uchica in the anime Naruto.
Itachi looks like Infj, and his partner Kisame looks like an ESTP.
Itachi's brother seems to be an Intj... But as a child he seemed infj, then after a betrayal, he loses Fe. And become an Infj with a Ni-Ti loop. And the behavior looks a lot like an intj.
In this anime there are so many ideas.
Shikamaru is the typical Intp and Gaara the typical infp.
Who knows you don't like it 😁😁

I have an idea. You do it if you want it that bad. How's that for bare minimum.

Of course, thank you... On this site I found many things that I thought only I liked. And in 2 videos, one on" fight club "and one on the" "matrix" , I swear, I randomly found it as a thought match. Two of the films that honestly inspired me the most.
I am Italian so I would not know if things, the programs they do here, then are the same that they show in other parts of the world.
I just wanted to say that even in this cartoon I found many ideas for growth.
      Thank you for your reply,
      I'll try. 😁😁
