      @@hugorezende199 I think this is about Maynard's time in the army. As a cadet, he had to swear an oath to "not lie, not cheat, not steal, and not tolerate those that do so", but then he realized that the army lies, cheats and steals anyways, hence the "shroud of virtue, while I laugh and dance and sing your glory..."

      I find this behavior interesting because we can learn more about ourselve's and others by noticing our behaviors. This urge to relisten to Tool songs i recognize also, as if a part of myself periodically yearns for it. If i where to try to guess or bring to consciousness, i would say there is a general feeling in me that my environment has been setting the bar too low. Given our existence is limited i find it appaling we are still expending so much energy in stupid entertainment, what our peers are interested in, or the continuation of the status quo. These pursuits are not only devoid of meaning they aren't even that interesting to begin with. It is as if Tool gives me the confidence to see that these people have no idea what they are doing, copying eachother like a bunch of monkeys, so you might as well take matters into your own hands and make up your own mind, growing and learning as you go along.

    • @robertj.przybylski3866
      @robertj.przybylski3866 Рік тому +1

      @@LudusAurea With all due respect, Chancelor followed Paul's lead. Opiate and Undertow put Tool on the map and established their sound. You want to get technical- Justin at "16 times longer" would put him at 48 years past 1993, which is 2041. Seriously dude- give it a rest.
      And really- the Blaze Bailey comparison is weak. Just like Dickinson is an original founding member of Maiden, so is D'Amour an original founding member of Tool. I never said D'Amour's replacement is the best- that' s what you are saying. In actuallity, your claim is more like saying Blaze Bailey is the best Maiden vocalist since you're saying a replacement is better than the original. Peace, God Bless.

    See
    I want to believe you

    But you lie cheat and steal.
    And yet
    I tolerate you.
    Veil of virtue hung to hide your method
    while I smile and laugh and dance
    and sing your praise and glory.
    Shroud of virtue hung to mask your stigma
