Lyrics:
It took so long to remember just what happened
I was so young and vestal then
You know it hurt me
But I'm breathing so I guess I'm still alive
Even if signs seem to tell me otherwise
I've got my hands bound
My head down, my eyes closed
And my throat's wide open
Do unto others what has been done to me
Do unto others what has been done to you
I'm treading water
I need to sleep a while
My lamb and martyr, you look so precious
Won't you, won't you come a bit closer
Close enough so I can smell you
I need you to feel this
I can't stand to burn too long
Release in sodomy
For one sweet moment I am whole
Do unto you now
What has been done to me
Do unto you now
What has been done
You're breathing so I guess you're still alive
Even if signs seem to tell me otherwise
Won't you, won't you come on a bit closer
Close enough so I can smell you
I need you to feel this
I need this to make me whole
Release in sodomy
Have you witnessed
Blood and flesh can't be trusted?
Have you witnessed
Blood and flesh can't be trusted?
And only this one holy medium brings me peace of mind
Got your hands bound, your head down
And your eyes closed
You look so precious now
I have found some kind of temporary sanity in this
Shit, blood and cum on my hands
I've come 'round full circle
My lamb and martyr, this will be over soon
You look so precious
You look so precious
You look so precious
You look so precious
You look so precious now
You look so precious
Every time the bone boy lifts his hand and the leather predator "gently" pushes it down, my blood runs cold
When I first watched this it actually made me choke up a bit inside

Such an amazing touch. Wait, not like that. You know what I mean.

I think we have to give Adam Jones props for committing to an entire stop animation to really have both the visual and musical aspects of Tool be what it is today
Agreed, it would have been much easier to do the person shaped character in a suit, but it would have lacked the right feeling of being part of that world. Phil Tippett did his best when he had to compromise with Mad God and finish parts with live action, but it 's a stark contrast that really lets the movie down.
and props for him to make some of the sickest riffs in rock music, in fact Tool songs songs are composed over Adam riffs and sometimes I think people dont realize how good he is
Props go to Jiri Trnka “The Hand”, Jan svankmajer, and the brothers quay first..
Before a live performance of "Prison Sex" on November 29, 1996 in Montreal, Quebec, Keenan stated:
"This song is about recognizing, identifying, the cycle of abuse within yourself. That's the first step of the process: realization; identifying. The next step is to work through it. But, this song is about the first step in the process, which is recognizing."

Tyler Hartmann it is about religion and abuse, abuse in the church, and abuse that is indoctrination and In its outer layer It can perfectly be interpreted as about abuse, and “my lamb and martyr” is what the abuser calls the abused, for the abused is being sacrificed for the abuser’s pleasure and need to do what has been done to them in their past
As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, this song is so powerful.
@Automatic Reset mm what do you expect
Old head: This is evil😤
Me: How on earth did you locate satan anywhere in this song?🤔
@Automatic Reset led to a life consumed by anger, rage, porn, and sex to the detriment of my mental health, work, family, and physical health. I found recovery when I was 33 and have learned to work through the trauma. It helps, a lot more than stuffing the thoughts and feelings.
@Automatic Reset no, it doesn't. It stays with you for your entire life. However, with trauma therapy, I can live my life on life's terms and deal with the issues in healthy ways.
@Automatic Reset I don't get it.
To this day there's still one line that gets me choked up whenever I hear it.
"For one sweet moment I'm whole."
I mean, God damn man... how do six words tell an entire story and paint an entire picture of a victim and an abuser all at once?
Totally agree
The one that stings me is “you’re not so precious now”. I was (precious) when I was five, but not when I was six.
because so often the prey BECOMES the predator.
that is what this song is about.
Maynard struggling not to do what was done to him!

They're just so astoundingly good. It's remarkable that no band has been able to come together, and make music that is comparable in style, sound, or quality to Tool. They've been compared to Pink Floyd, whom I love. But after 13 years, it's becoming clear: we may never again have such amazing music created by a bass guitarist, electric guitarist, drummer, and vocalist like we do today. We are all lucky as fuck!
That trailer for Toy Story 5 looks cool.

They are focusing the Story on Cid this time, these are his toys.
Randy Newman sounds a little different in this one.
How can anyone take this song lightly? Imo one of the most viscerally painful descriptions of CSA trauma in music. Not an easy listen or watch especially if you've experienced abuse, but an important piece of art that honestly transcends the band for me. THAT TITLE THO LMAOOO
This song, Uncle Jack by Montly Crüe and the genuine brake down in Korn's song Daddy really shows the full effects doesn't it?
CSA?
The title, as someone said above, likely means home is prison since that's exactly how an abused child would feel.
you might want to live under a rock
The title is saying that their own home, a place where your supposed to feel comfortable and safe, is a prison for them.
I thought the title of the song was funny until I realized that for many victims, home means prison
OH. I always thought it meant a rape in an actual prison. Jesus.
@@humanguy1643
Nah, he got abused as a kid. Prison is your home and/or mind. The video is sybolistic of the abuse. The damaged child doll is him.

This song helped me let go of a lot of anger over things in my past.
Creepy😳 especially at 4:44. When the hand comes up in a futile attempt to express uneasiness or whatever, and the creature calmly pushes it back down. In total control. Complete submission. That's an intense little scene 😕
Gives me goosebumps.
Yeah that really was a nice touch

Lolol when I was a wee lass I had ear canal problems and my dad told me the only thing that helped was blasting the bass in his car whilst playing Tool. So I've been listening to them since I was an actual toddler in the 90s lololol!!! Somehow I didn't really recognize how intense the lyrics were to most of their songs until I was a teenager 😳😅

Lol
I experienced Tool when I was very young and I remember being petrified of this song but especially the music video. Now an adult, with the experience of being a CSA victim, it still gives me that same exact feeling, just not as helplessly, watching this and hearing those lyrics. My trauma was pushed into my subconscious supposedly, is what psychiatrists have told me as I don't remember any of it and only bits and pieces of my years around the time it happened. But I completely understand the reason as to why I never wanted to see or hear this song as a child. The art of it was able to convey the message so clearly it horrified younger me because I understood it, even though I didn't understand why I did.
Its a creepy video clip.
Thank you for sharing
Look into slow body-movement arts such as Yoga or Tai Chi. Memories may hide in the body. These arts can connect your mind to them as you concentrate on your bodily sensations.
The song combined with the video is horrifying. It points directly to the evil of a sick monstrous adult preying in their insanity upon a defenseless and damaged child, and the effect it has on the child.
Thank you for sharing.
4:44 gives me chills everytime. What beautifully twisted use of symbolism. Perfect.
It's deeply disturbing

Jame Maynard is a hero during a time where people struggled to talk about being the victim of sexual assualt he makes this song and video.

I was 8 years old when my older sister started to abuse me. It was a continual torturous 4 years. Two decades later and I still find myself sobbing and waking from nightmares.
Thank you Maynard. And TOOL. I don't know if it was Maynard that was abused, but someone in the band certainly was. We all share your pain. Thank you for everything you've done for me throughout the years. Your music has brought me so much catharsis. And I'll never be able to thank you properly or give you all a hug. This song is incredibly dark yet powerful it is disturbing yet liberating. Thank God Maynard had the courage and creativity to be able to write the words to this song.
I can’t claim to have dealt with sexual abuse as others who have this song speaks to them but this song DOES speak to me in a sense that I’ve been verbally and emotionally abused by my father and due to my cerebral palsy and the culture I was born in none of the people I’m forced in close contact with can offer me the support I need (or at least WISH I had).
Jesus fuck…do they think you’re doing it on purpose?!
@@MrJimmyTide no the cerebral palsy isn’t the problem, he’s just like that because after he married my mom he felt pressured to act more masculine as per our culture, my mom says he used to be lighthearted and easygoing before then which was why she loved him then.

Now that I see others are brave enough I guess it’s my turn to be. I was abused in different ways as a child. Grew up with a foster family that eventually adopted me. For years I went through drugs and spent many years in prison. Maybe it was the fact that I had to grow up with my abusers ? My so called mother and siblings? I’m 53 now and this song has allowed me to release built up anger in a positive way. Just by letting the music and lyrics tell my story. This song can apply to anyone who suffered hell as a child. Who earned the blank thousand yard stare from a type of personal war they experienced. Thank you Maynard .

How have they not gone out of business. They were a shit channel when i was in high school in the mid2000’s.
What fearlessness. They go into the mind of the abuser and occupy it, as the abuser. The music at the end mirrors the psychological struggle of the perpetrator, who realizes he reaches equilibrium, when he’s abusing.
My dad is my perpetrator...my dad. Happened at 8 and i tried to unalive myself but the rope broke. He kept torturing me up until i was around 15 and moved away to live with my mom (who had no idea it was happening until i finally told her at 18). I never knew that was what this song was about until i started reading the comments & much like Jonathan Davis from Korn the bravery it must take for a man to put this out there for the world to see is incomprehensible to me. The strength it shows and ability to be men of real integrity and honesty is a blessing to all of their fans. Theyll be here in vegas in February and all i can do is hope that once my tax return goes straight to the government and massive debt i have just 100$ left to be able to attend.

My older sister bought me Tool's 'Undertow' for my 17th Birthday in June 1993. And it was on CD also, at that time cassette tapes were still very popular. I still can't think her enough to this day, for buying 'Undertow' for me. I wore that CD and 1992's Alice in Chains 'Dirt' album almost to shreds. Was learning guitar about 2 years prior and now I'm an advanced player, playing all types of different styles. Legato, Sweep picking, Minor and Natural harmonic minor scales, seriously advanced licks, and shred. But I learned every single Tool song on 'Undertow' and then in 1996 all the songs on 'Aenima'. ..which is actually interesting because most ppl hate them and you just as much and puke just going near that mess. You leave a nasty taste in ppls noses even if no one got to taste it. It's almost beautiful. Sorry, couldn't think of a better metaphor atm..maybe you can come up with one. I dare you to try!!

Stay strong 💪💪💪 this video and music, as vulgar and badass as it is, is a reminder that YOU are not alone! No matter what's done to anyone in the world, I believe the worst thing anyone could possibly experience is isolation. So, I simply look up “tool” to find this; UA-cam decides to bombard me with a power tool ad instead... I flat out thought to myself, “I didn’t ask for this; I just wanted Prison Sex.” By far the weirdest sentence I’ve said all day. 😂
“I never asked for this”
-Adam Jensen
Probably a good job you didn't search for Prison Sex, I guess.
Oh that’s what I did just bluntly typed prison sex
To say the least I wasn’t disappointed and not just by the video😐
I've always been fascinated about the creatures in Tool videos just like their world's and how they coexist with each other. It would be rad if the band put out an art book describing each creature and their backstory kinda like the monster manual from DnD.
@Sean Sullivan 🤙
you just gave me a great idea for some fan work!!

The cold, inhuman, artificial objects which make up the animation of this video. That is exactly what it is like when it's happening to you.
The lyrics are terrifying, but I guess it’s just Tool being Tool.
Child abuse is a whole lot more terrifying, it will fuck your life up. Tool have a handle on it.
Dedicated to all children who became victim of (ritual) child abuse.

I can see the similarities, but your comment diminishes the act of which the song is actually about. That said, Child abusers belong in prison, to be sure but, are you in Tool? Then I might be able to understand the 'dedication'.
There can never be another Tool! They will always be unique as hell... my mom once told me my dad abused me sexually, I honestly don't know but I do know they both did emotionally and done me wrong to the core. You can't always get to pick your family but you can be better than them
I like the part when he sings "for one sweet moment I am whole", as it sounds like he's drowning.

Lyrics by Tool ,in Genius
[Verse 1]
It took so long to remember just what happened
I was so young and vestal then
You know it hurt me
But I'm breathing so I guess I'm still alive
Even if signs seem to tell me otherwise
Got my hands bound
And my head down and my eyes closed
My throat's wide open
[Refrain]
Do unto others what has been done to me
Do unto others what has been done to you
[Verse 2]
I'm treading water
I need to sleep a while
My lamb and martyr, you look so precious
Won't you, won't you come on a bit closer?
Close enough so I can smell you
I need you to feel this
I can't stand to burn too long
Release in sodomy
For one sweet moment I am whole
[Refrain]
Do unto you now what has been done to me
Do unto you now what has been done
[Verse 3]
You're breathing so I guess you're still alive
Even if signs seem to tell me otherwise
Won't you, won't you come on a bit closer?
Close enough so I can smell you
I need you to feel this
I need this to make me whole
Release in sodomy
Have you witnessed that blood and flesh can't be trusted?
Have you witnessed that blood and flesh can't be trusted?
And only this one holy medium brings me peace of mind
[Verse 4]
Got your hands bound
And your head down
And your eyes closed
You look so precious now
[Bridge]
I have found some kind of temporary sanity in this
Shit, blood, and cum on my hands
I've come 'round full circle
[Outro]
My lamb and martyr, this will be over soon
You look so precious, you look so precious
You look so precious, you look so precious
You look so precious now
You look so precious.
(Peace and love )
Dude thank you so much I was so upset when I couldn’t find lyrics lmao- ugh the whole 3rd verse (I believe) paired with the video makes me so uncomfortable, but this song’s message is so important and it’s oh so damn catchy as a song itself- but yeah, thanks :]
On tour forever..... love the symbol
Thank you!
Spanish is my first language, but i remember the first time i heard this song i´ve felt an strange energy and also captivating, the way he sings transcends the barrier of language, you can perceive the desperation in his voice and also in the music, amazing.
Estoy pisando agua
Necesito dormir un poco
Mi cordero y mártir, te ves tan precioso
He rodeado el círculo completo
Mi cordero mártir, esto terminara pronto
Te ves tan precioso(x4)
Te ves tan precioso ahora
Te ves tan precioso…
These lyrics, beats and rhythms: so powerful, haunting and beautiful. Absolutely classic Tool. Taking the darkest, most terrible experiences and somehow turning them into poetic, cathartic beauty. God, I love Tool. And the artistry of the video production. Wildly brilliant 👏 👏👏.
4:34 someone said this in a comment I cant find long ago, but this here is a powerful moment. Abusers are often victims of abuse themselves and are compelled to pass this abuse onto others. As the doll picks up the brush and stripes itself black, it has gone "full circle" and the essence of the black creature seeped into it, doomed to eventually be fully blackened and become the creature with yet another doll.
Reminds me of Sober. Thank you. This is like coming full circle from my teens seeing videos thinking this was a band to pay attention to. Love it. Keep kicking ass. Keep doing what you love. Loved finally getting to see you in Lincoln before you went abroad.
My daughter was sexualy molested and assualted by her uncle when she was around 7 years old and she is now 10 years old.he went to jail just recently for 10 years with no parole.i am so angry and heart broken that this happened to my daughter and wish the worst upon him in jail where the gangs will have prison sex with him .my daughter has to live with this experience for the rest of her life .it breaks my heart so much
Damn. That’s horrible. I hope that the guys in jail make him their bitch.
@@drillbit8280 he is for 10 years without parole but it doesnt change the effects it has on my baby girl unfortunately .regardless of councelling and the life long scars she has to deal with in her little life emotionally.
No child should have to experience any of that. Molested, abused, tortured, or killed. Seems like the system loves to give less time and take care of people that commit crimes like that
Why didn't you just serve "justice" to him. He will just go into protective custody, and get off a way without being "dealt with"
@@Thebitchwell because then my daughter will be without a father sitting in jail with the rest of the scum
And my therapist says I’m the one that’s fucked up. Weeeeeee I absolutely love TOOL. MAKES ME SMILE AND FORGET MY SHITTY ASS PAST. THANK YOU TOOL.
There's a lot of TOOL songs that are painful to understand. This song is the amongst the most painful of them all... and that's really saying something.
Hi! Thank you very much for your love and support over the years, we appreciate every effort and love you wholeheartedly. Send us a mail contactustool@gmail.com
My mom was watching this video when I was a little kid and it always kinda Disturbed but fascinated me and for years I couldn't figure out what it was from. I thought for a while I dreamt it or something. I stumbled across the video a few weeks ago and finally figured out what these imagines in my head came from. for a music video to leave that big of an impression on somebody I figure there's got to be a lot of talent in it.... Or just an extremely warped video director lol

@@larjkok1184 new to Tool eh?

For anyone that doesn't know the gist of the song is a child is raped/molested by some adult, then grows up to do the same to another child, then goes to prison is raped by another inmate (I've come round full circle).
Anyways the early Tool videos just seemed like a bunch of edgy nonsense to me but having experienced at least parts of what the song is about, the child abuse and going to prison part (for burrglary, I ain't no fucking child molester and no, wasn't raped in prison either), alot of it actually makes sense now.
The little white doll thing is the child and the large black figure is the rapist (seems obvious now). The parts where the doll's eyes roll back in it's head are it's attempts at shutting out what it doesn't understand, which a child doesn't, many victims have partial or fully repressed memories that only come to light much later. The black figure rubbing the doll and using it's "paintbrush" on the doll (three guesses as to what that represents) take on a much more disturbing dimension now that I get what they're supposed to be. Oh speaking of bees that wasp is long dead now I'm sure.
Where's the part about going to prison and getting raped there? You're the reason Maynard refers to tool fans as insufferable retards. The full circle is because it happened to them first then they grew to do it someone else. Jesus christ, stop trying to sound smart and fucking listen.
This is the best visual art interpretation of sexual abuse... my favorite Tool song
The MTV days were awesome
Funny, though, that they banned this music video for depicting child abuse (albeit in the Tool form). It was featured on an episode of Beavis and Butt-head, though.

4:43 that kinda made me tear up when i first saw that way back when. This music video accompanies the song sooo well about the cycle of abuse and the victims caught in it.
Revenge is the best therapy for ubuse victims. No shit,,,,,,,u should never let anyone get away with it.......
This video is really uncomfortable and difficult to watch when you realize what it's actually about. Takes on a whole different kind of meaning than it did when we were kids.
Absolutely, and then when you pay attention to the lyrics while watching the video you realize just how dark this song is, but it really does deliver a very powerful message. imo it's one of Tool's greatest works of genius
this song is about the effects that abuse have on a child and the way it cycles

Their best video and one of their best songs 🤘💀🤘
The part at the end when he paints himself with the paintbrush is one of the most powerful images I’ve ever seen in a music video…
Also the whole thing looks so smooth with its framerates, doesn’t even look like stop motion at all. Parabola especially the opening has the same effect of extremely lifelike motion…
That was her “painting him” not himself :(
one of the things i love about this music video is it's use of metaphor
for example the legs being separate from his body leaving him only able to limber which is to represent the feeling of helplessness with no way to escape it great touch
I’m so sorry for all the folks here who have been victims of sexual abuse. At 15, my dad got VERY close but luckily my mom left him, just in time. The very few memories I have are nothing compared to just what people in these comments have shared. You guys are SO brave for sharing your experiences, and I’m so sorry you had those experiences.
This is a great example of things taking different forms according to perspective. Not doubt a quality of something real and true.
That song reminds me why child molesters and rapists must suffer a long painful death. No other way, nothing more, nothing less. The song not only describes the abomination of these evil people's actions, but the blasphemy and defilement of pure innocence itself which is what a child's soul is. And honestly I think that this is what really gets a pedo's kicks in the first place. The abuse of power they practice to what a child really represents. The destruction of their innocence in the most intimate and unbreachable way which is a person's body. This is why pedos are not just "poor, sick people" that some of their defenders (who are probably like them) try to present them. They are pure evil.
Exactly! Thank you!
So, yer the Leave it to BeeVer guy?
I think they should be stoned to death in the center of town
i think you need to listen to the lyrics and maybe ask yourself why these people may do this stuff.
"do unto others what has been done to you"
its not as black and white as youre making it out to be. think harder. im sure you can do it.
but it also touches on how many of them were also defiled themselves and turned into something they themselves don't understand and can't forgive.
Thank you for uploading high quality versions! Can’t wait to sit down and enjoy the new album in full.

God damn, it doesn't matter how long goes by or how many times I watch this video, this song and video are still just so chilling. And I'm not even someone who experienced what the lyrics refer to. I just get how real it is... I share this song with a lot of friends, and each time I have to warn them, because it can bring up some very painful things for some people I know.
