Density of water is maximum at 4 degree Celsius. This is surely significant fact, given that water is, as of the four elements, an all-pervading ingredient of this album ('sober'(/'drink') 'bottom', 'swamp', 'undertow', 'flood''), like, for example, air is for "Fear inoculum".
The long growl or yell or bark that Maynard does near the end is by far the best representation of power by voice ever. Tool changed my life back in the day.

Flawlessly simple but what such raw musical talented they bring
simple?
It's the complete opposite of simple.
Especially the singing and drumming
My first metal cassette was this lol….makes me feel old but my little boys love this too so…guess I’m not so old
This songs about reaching into the depths of someone's soul
Na its about analsex
I think that's more so of Stinkfist.
Yup
Great raw album. Kind of forgotten. Still sounds great.
Gives me chills all over.been way too long.
One of Tools best albums.
One of my Favorite Inspirational songs.
Love Maynard he is amazing in concert I've seen him with all his bands
Undertow is Tools best album by far
Lateralus is fucking epic too
Saw tool from this album until 10000days 6 times in concert my band of bands
Fun fact: the music title, 4º, can also been read as the portuguese word "Quarto", which means both "Fourth" and "Room", being the last one more accurate to this lyrics
so lsd huh? nice
Buddy you are looking way way too deep for meaning on this one it is quite literally a song about convincing a girl to let you stick it in her butt I am not mistaken I assure you that is the actual meaning of this song
It can also been read as the spanish word "Cuarto", that also means both fourth and room
@@p.b.5518 I wasn't depthen the lyrics, just making a statement in which, as you said, it's all about, if anything
@@joaquinbilbao7138 Muchas gracias por la explicación
Favortie Tool song to sing :)
A man of taste I see
Probley my favorite tool song,,its hard theres so many absolutely fucking fantastic songs....im rocking out in my car and started crying while singing...i dont know why but it just moved me...i fucking love it!!! I think its the line "knock me down, ill come back running" I feel like its my life anthem if you will,,ive been knocked down so many times,,so it just hits me hard every time I sing it!! I mean scream it...
It brings us closer than dyin and cancer and cryin
4:58, Tool essentially became Led Zeppelin during this part. (Basically the solo to me sounded like Blues rock, but I do actually like the solo of the song)
Undertow is a great sludgy album.
I’m thinking Undertow would have been recorded during the height of the grunge explosion? Like late ‘92 early ‘93
@@letsstartawarsaidmaggieoneday It was it was released in 93
@@aderral3196 that’s what I thought, during the middle of the whole grunge thing- I think that contributes to the sludgyness of the record
Listening to Tool since 1994 or so. I’ll be the old man in the garage blaring this stuff smoking sativa repairing my vehicle. I wonder what the grandchildren will think of me? 😂
I'm glad Tool made it big for everyone to enjoy and experience..
4 degrees sends such a different message to me 30 years later, and I still love it. I don't even care what Maynard is talking about, it is the actual sound of the music & his voice for me.
Awesome. Powerful. I love Maynard.
At 5:00 , never heard Adam play that sound. Very cool.
Most underrated TOOL song
Get up, get up now [4x]
Free yourself from yourself [2x]
Locked up inside you
Like the calm beneath castles
A cavern of treasures that
No one has been to
Let's go digging
Let's go digging
Bring it out and take it back in
You won't do what you'd like to do
Lay back and let me show you another way
Kill what you want to
Take what's left and eat it
Take all or nothing
Just too short to push it away
Take it all
Take it all in
All the way in
All the way in
Let it go
Let it go in
You won't feel what you'd like to feel
Lay back and let me show you another way
Kill what you want to
Take what's left and eat it
Take all or nothing
Just too short to push it away
Knock me down
I'll just come back running
Knock you down
It won't be long now
All the way in
All the way in
All the way
All the way
Way in!
Kill what you want to
Take what's left and eat it
Take all or nothing
Just too short to push it away
Take it up, take it up higher
4 degrees now, 4 degrees warmer
Give in now
Give in now
Let me in!
You'll like this in
This brings us out
You'll like this
It brings us closer than
Dying and cancer and crying
Let's take it, take it...
Kill what you want to
Take what's left and eat it
Take all or nothing
Just too short to push it
Just like that
Just like that
Just like...
BrokenZen its lifes just too short to push it away . it just dont sound like it.
