  • Counterintuitively, trying to calm down can trigger anxiety for some of us, especially when we have experienced trauma. This is because our brains are wired to stay alert for danger. This is known as relaxation-induced anxiety which I talk about in this video.

    True. Having a very noisy mind has allowed me to escape emotions. Which, of course, never works out well in the long run.

      It's so insightful of you to recognize that, and you're definitely not alone in this experience. Our minds can get so busy trying to shield us from emotions, but ultimately, those feelings need to be acknowledged and processed.
