A subharmonic E1 is Geoff's low note in this song, but he peaked up at B4. I think he can go a little bit higher, and a little bit lower, but this is a pretty good representation of his range, especially considering it's all done in such a short span. Sixteen Tons was all chest notes, by comparison.

And even more impressive Geoff's stamp is going up and down two octaves at the drop of a hat. Which he did at the end here. I think besides him only Tomi P showed that among A Capella bass singers. At least doing so frequently. And so smoothly that it leaves vocal coaches on UA-cam wowed.

@@YBPlaysMusic Geoff's and Tim have the same octave range but different vocal range . Tim hits 1 note lower than Geoff but Geoff hits 1 note higher . Geoff hits his highest note I believe in there cover of Elvira ( they don't have a official version but they have a live version . You should definitely listen to it .) (Voiceplay specifically Geoff made the arrangement for home frees version of Elvira and so when voiceplay do it in the live performance it sounds very similar to home frees at some parts) Tim and Geoff are good friends in real life . And both Rob and Tim have features in some voiceplay videos . They performed on the same season of the sing off were home free won . (Please check out survivor home free Vs voiceplay /zombies Vs hillbillies . Where home free and voiceplay(the sing off voiceplay which had a few different members ) have a accapella battle . Home free plays hillbillies and voiceplay plays zombies . They did this as they never got to do it on the sing off show and so decided to do it after . )

      That's correct, B4 to E1. A three and 7/12 octave drop in 10 seconds.

When VoicePlay does songs from Musical theater they go all in with makeup and costumes. My favorites are Moana Medley and My Mother Told Me. Since this video was produced Earl, the bearded singer, and Jay, the singer in the leather jacket have left the group. As a result they are now hosting guest singers in their productions.
Layne, the Beatboxer, or Geoff produce or arrange most of their videos. Their Sound Engineer is Ed Boyer, who also works with Pentatonix.
    Members from left to right
    J. None -Baritone
    Earl - Tenor
    Eli (pronounced Elly) - Tenor
    Geoff - Bass
    Layne - Beatboxer/Tenor

It's probably very interesting to say the least, having guest singers for their recent and future productions.
It's pretty nice that apparently, it's actually not that big of a world, seeing the connections between PTX, Voiceplay and Home Free.

This song is a Geoff-lead song, but they normally take turns in each song, it's also a great representation of Geoff's range. If you want more of that you can check out their Little Mermaid Medley, Queen in 5 minutes, Daddy Sang Bass, If I were a rich man/girl and My Mother Told Me.
The one with the high-pitch voice is Earl, sadly he left last year for personal reasons and still they haven't found a replacement so they'll feature different people in their videos.
The one who you initially thought had the highest voice is Eli (pronounced "Ellie), he's a tenor with a crazy range who actually can cover for bass.
The beatboxer is Layne, he arranged this one and does the majority of their arrangements, he's amazing and also has a huge range.
The other one is J.None, he's the baritone and left recently to go to the Navy.

Geoff Castellucci, as you know, bass, Layne Stein is the vocal percussion/beatboxer, The very high tenor is Earl Elkin, with beard, Eli (Elly) Jacobson is the tenor with a wide range, master of runs and riffs, and J.None is the baritone,, also with a wide range. Also VoicePlay and Geoff never block their videos so can be shown without any problem. Anything they do is good, people have their favourites but it's hard to choose.

Another great example of Geoff Castellucci's deep voice can be found in Voiceplay's rendition of "My Mother Told Me" (a song about vikings, sung by vikings), and Voiceplay's rendition of "HALO". Geoff Castellucci's version of "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold" from the Hobbit is also very special.

From what I understand, the light effects are from mouthguards they are wearing for the video. And yes, Geoff has an insane range, clocking in at around five octaves. He says that he had originally wanted to be a rock tenor, and he's got the high end to back it up, as much as he is one of the most powerful bass singers around. Dangerously, he's even got a solo channel, where he'll do songs where he's layered four or five times. He just put out House of the Rising Sun, though I'm also just very fond of his Sixteen Tons video. In any event, welcome to the world of VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci. They are a lot of fun, pretty much across the board.

    • @Drake844221
      @Drake844221 2 роки тому

Ah, I see you're already familiar with his solo stuff XD Anyway, House of the Rising Sun just came out this morning, so it's fresh in my mind XD And yes, they do each get their moments to shine.
Sadly, Earl (the one in white) left the group... oh, about a year and a half ago now, and I'm still missing him pretty badly, and they still don't have a super high tenor to replace him. JNone, the one in the leather jacket, has also more recently departed the group to join the US Navy Choir. Still, I feel like they've done a good job of finding someone who can bring a similar energy to the group in Cesar De La Rosa (If I Were A Rich Man/Girl was his first video as a permanent member). Eli (pronounced E-ly not Ellie) is a powerhouse, able to deliver an outstanding performance wherever he's put in the arrangement. Even though he's not always in the limelight, he's always amazing.
Other singers that would be worth looking into would be Colm McGuiness, Jarred Halley, and Jonathan Young. Colm and Jarred have both done a lot of layered acapella videos, though Colm has started incorporating self-performed instrumentals into his videos. Jonathan Young has specialized over the years in hard rock and heavy metal covers of songs - Disney songs being a frequent subject of this treatment. Though, here within the last year, he's made a renewed commitment to original works.

Golden Retriever named Marley. LOL!! I know where that comes from. I was surprised that no one answered your question yet. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a movie. Not strictly a cartoon. It was shot using 'claymation' so 'cartoon' is close enough. I would say a holiday type movie but maybe a little scary for little kids. Many songs are known from it. 10:45 I see everyone else has answered. So . . . Bring the cute back. Have Marley on more often! 😁 Good reaction guys.

@@YBPlaysMusic You can't always be sure. Geoff and Eli can both step in as beat box if necessary (but without Layne's flash) And you can't be sure about bass backgrounds, either. Layne's range is said to be wider than Geoff's (but without the beautiful round resonance in the bass) and Eli sometimes backs up bass when Geoff is singing lead. Layne's lows are usually heard when he is beatboxing - he'll suddenly come out with a stunningly low note. But with this group you just can't always be certain unless you recognize the voice.... they're incredibly flexible and all have wide ranges.

New sub here! Love Voice Play and Home Free! This is a favorite of fans for reactors to watch! Of course, we love watching this one over and over! lol I like your channel! You two are entertaining and interesting! Marley is a cute little pup! As far as suggestion, you can't go wrong with any of Voice Play's videos. They're all fantastic! I'm sure you have many suggestions below my comment.

The Santa is not actually a singer. I believe he is Jeff’s brother in law.

The high pitch one is actually the big guy with the beard and the white sweater. The black guy in the leather jacket and the bald short guy are both baritones. The beat boxer is the guy who was on the far right with the glowing nose. But they all have such crazy ranges they can all perform any part.

If you guys get a chance to watch Voiceplay's production of "This is Halloween" you'll get a good idea of some of their "cartoon-like" voice skills... many of them have actually worked in Disney World before.

The 3 American acappella basses all have very large vocal ranges.
    Speaking voices
    Geoff Castelluci C#2-A2
    Avi Kaplan C2-A2
    Tim Foust Bb1- F#2
Tim has the largest total vocal range I believe.
    Avi's I have for last year's observed vocal range 2020 C1-C#5

This is pre recorded they do not sing this live. So the bass beat box is Geoff and Layne is their main beat boxer. It is a music video. They lip synce this but they themselves record it
