You really need to analyse their rendition of "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" from Edvard Greig's _Peer Gynt_ suite. It would be so good to have a classical viewpoint for such a recognisable classical piece of music.

Another great reaction and analysis - and yes, your face as you listened to the final section of Oogie Boogie's Song was pretty entertaining!
You mentioned hearing Geoff's highs clearly for the first time - one of the best videos to hear his full range is I See Fire from his solo channel. As usual, he splits the parts out to several "characters", each singing a different role - deep bass, "normal" bass, baritone, tenor - and each voice is very distinctive and different. It's the sequel to another song from the Hobbit movies, Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold, which is the most popular video on Geoff's solo channel, which has the same characters, but they mostly sing in harmony, so it's harder (at least for me) to be able to distinguish their individual voices.
I don't think you've done any of Geoff's solo work yet, so while it's a smaller rabbit hole than VoicePlay (because he only started doing solo work during the lockdown), it's a very interesting and entertaining one.

Lock is a Devil and "leader" Shock is a witch and the smartest and Barrel is the youngest and Boogie considers him to be his star cause he's so much like him

As a fellow Sir Hairless and Voiceplay admirer, I feel like I've found my favourite channel.
If I may, I'd like to recommend Lawrence the band. They're an eight-people band with some serious talent that have flown under the radar because they do not comply with the music industry. Any of their acoustic performances are fire, but if you want to be blown out of the water I recommend seeing Don't Lose Sight first. The backing vocals are not part of the band, just some friends who join them for some jam sessions. By the way, Gracie and Clyde Lawrence are siblings.

I absolutely love your analysis. You break down fairly high level theory concepts in a way that a novice like me can understand.
Re: Layne’s nose. He was Jack’s dog, Zero. Who had a glowing nose. 😊
I think you need to check out an Earl - focused track. You haven’t done anything yet (that I’ve caught) where he really had a chance to cut loose. Queen in Five Minutes would be a good one. I think you’ll also be intrigued by the way they built like 20 Queen songs into one and made it work so well it sounds like it was always that way. And also, yes, as someone else mentioned, you need to check out Hall of the Mountain King.
I’d also like to see you venture into Geoff’s solo stuff a bit. He really does some flexing on his own. Most are four or five part harmony and he’s singing all the parts.
He did Jack’s Lament - also from Nightmare Before Christmas- as a solo piece. But like Voiceplay, it’s really hard to go wrong over there.
I love his later drop, You Don’t Mess Around With Jim, but there’s also Man of Constant Sorrow, Ain’t No Sunshine, House of New Orleans, Sound Of Silence, Way Down, Folsom Prison Blues and another few dozen. But I gave you my faves. 😊
When you do watch Geoff’s solo stuff, let it go past the closing credits and logo. He has an extra bit on there more often than not. Sometimes - like in Jack’s Lament - you get a glimpse behind the scenes. Other times, like Man of Constant Sorrow, he’s just being amusing.

It is refreshing to see a reaction video by an actual educated musician. My Father was a conductor, world class pianist and composer. So from the age of 3 I have been blessed to hear everything from analysis to historical anecdotal tales of a wide range of music. You have an uncanny ear and catch the glorious subtleties that I miss when having converse with my father. Laurence Leighton Smith. Most importantly I appreciate the fact that the extraordinary elements are Cleary evident, but you don't over react, which is always a clear sign of musical vernacular oblivious with others. Well done. You achieve the goal of making your analysis accurate bur accessible to even the most musically inept. Probably shouldn't say that, but it is done. Kudos.

My first VP experience was their Little Mermaid Medley. Oogie Boogie’s song was my second. Both are still in my top 5. What a lovely gift to get your reaction to this one. I have listened to the song countless times, and I’ve watched every reaction video on UA-cam, and still (no surprise) you pointed out things I’ve never noticed before. Thank you ❤

The VoicePlay rabbit hole. Just as addictive as Home Free or The Bass Gang. Your analysis is mindblowing, the breakdown is really, really detailed. Thank you for that. I can't wait for the next videos. And now i go catch up all the old vids. :D

I know you mostly focus on singing, but I would love to see your reaction to the Danny Carey drum cam live performance of Pneuma by Tool. I think the way they put together music and the rhythm and timing would really tweak your interest.

Geoff's voice was edited in post as the bit where you were questioning what happens sounds like... a vibrato between left and right channels, rather than in pitch (though it sounds like he might have had a bit of vibrato on the last note anyway).

For thatrical you'd enjoy Hoist The Colours (beta blocker warning if you take 'em you need 'em) and as a classical musician you'd probably enjoy In The Hall Of The Mountain King. Also I reckon Seven Nation Army, Top Ten Movie themes, Queen in 5 minutes for the arranging... flockit just go through their playlist😂

I am just repeating what I’ve heard elsewhere because I don’t have musical training and wouldn’t be able to pick this out. But I understand that Layne’s arrangements are more rhythmically complex in general while Geoff’s tend to be more harmonically complex. Now I need to go back and look at your old videos and see when you talk about the rhythmic sections to see if those were all Layne’s arrangements or not.
There’s a lot of crossover, but lot of us generally pick out when it’s either a Layne or a Geoff arrangement. One hint is if Geoff has been made to do something that’s outside his normal range or technique, it’s pretty much always a Layne arrangement. He likes to push Geoff beyond his comfort range. And we are eternally grateful.

I think they all did a bang up job with the voices , especially those monster voices. You nailed this reaction ... you hear all the good stuff in the background. The 4 octave drop is sick .. very sick .... very, very sick. 🎼👹🎼

One last thing, I am not sure that everyone who may herar your analysis and immediate ability to dissect and replay the music on the piano is an amazing gift, and not something even the regular professional musician is able to do. Super kudos for that. Very much enjoyed, I will subscribe and patronize. I worked as a studio musician for many years, but ultimately fell back on my medical career, so I have preciously little time to seek out the extraordinary. Here's hoping I can short cut hours of listening to mediocrity and just short cut to your reactions and fill my list favorites.
Thanks again for your thoughtful, accurate and compelling reactions.

I've seen this debate in comments before 😅 I will steer clear of giving my thoughts, but I think it's definitely open to interpretation (regardless of what Geoff calls himself )
No doubt about the trick notes though, due to how they're produced 🎶 They'd be 'trick notes' even for natural basses
