    Nice fair vid. The GSXS1000's not flashy but I like it. It's a great value bulletproof road based super naked which is fine by me. I genuinely don't want a 200bhp track focused naked for the road & to be totally honest I can't afford one anyway so I'd be more than happy to have one of these for a bit, especially at this price.

  • @mahasidha9
    @mahasidha9 2 місяці тому

    Does the Katana have more torque in the midrange; same engine and suspension or is it exactly the same but with a fairing? It is a great deal more money; some would say over priced but I like the looks. The Bandit 1200 reference reminding me that I’m old.

    Mine turned up on Thursday (but in black!!!), last bike was a Gen 2 Hayabusa which I've regretted selling since it left in a van. Can't afford the latest so have gone for one of these. Just waiting for some weather that's not in the 30's or peeing down. :D

    My 2016 has traction control....In traction control 1 the front wheel lifts to about 8-10 inches and then the bike shuts power down which in turn set the front end back down and no more wheelie. Wouldn't that be the same as anti wheelie?

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 3 роки тому

      The older version got 40-42 mpg (US gallons) if you're not ripping on it all the time. It has been one of the more efficient 1L engines in the class, with a longer-stroke design it can make use of the burn before blowing it out the exhaust port.

    Great review of this bike. Would you have this or an 8S in your garage?

    • @k1mura92
      @k1mura92 4 місяці тому

      IMO this should come down to personal preference, because the characteristics of the engines are so different. If you're only doing city riding, the 8S offers instant torque with its 2cyl engine, lower weight, TFT dash and obviously at a significantly lower price. The GSX-S1000 on the other hand is in another league entirely when it comes to top end performance. Smoother engine, more stable, better at high speed riding in general.
      The S1000 is a more allround package, however at the end of the day most people seem to not understand how to ride inline four engines anymore, short shifting all the time. People who ride like that will just get more enjoyment out of the 8S because of its 2cyl engine. If you're not gonna wring its neck, don't bother with the GSX-S1000 or any inline four performance naked.

    • @paulconnell1309
      @paulconnell1309 3 місяці тому +1

      @@k1mura92 I agree, good advice. I have test ridden the GSX S750 about six times. Ended up with the 8S. More relaxed way to get enough poke in the city. And our county roads are not conducive to that much speed so torque for a quick lift is good.. Still tempted by the 1000 ....

    • @k1mura92
      @k1mura92 3 місяці тому

      @@paulconnell1309
      The 1000 is a great bike, but I think it really comes down to what engine characteristic you're after. Personally, I enjoyed the V-Twin torque so much I ended up ordering a Ducati Hypermotard 950 as a second bike, so that I could enjoy the best of both worlds.
      The GSX-S1000 is tuned for more mid range torque than most superbikes, which you can really feel - its really fast and snappy when entering mid range rpm 3k+. But its still an inline four, and its a bit sad to not being able to get even a fraction of its power on display when riding around town. The fact that it sounds so muted at low rpms is a bit of a bummer too, when it comes to city riding.
      Since you currently own the 8S, you have a great naked bike that can "do everything". If you want an inline four bike, I would say optimally you'd have two bikes. But most people don't want to or can't own two bikes, and if thats the case I would think long and hard about what kind of engine you prefer for your type of riding.

    This bike in the USA has to be one of the most insane values around especially used with the previous headlights. I think it looks awesome amazed they sell for relatively nothing. If you can’t ride with all the extra gizmos you should be nowhere near a liter bike.

    A comparison between this and the Z1000 would be interesting as they are possibly the cheapest super nakeds available. The basic Z1000 is currently £10400 in the UK but seems to have been forgotten. At a time when everyone and his dog wants to spend £12k + this would surely be a good real world comparison?

    I love that Suzuki made the 2022 GSXS1000 affordable without cutting corners. Good thing they only cut out wheelie control and launch control because honestly I really dont need those. But to make market this as a $11,500 naked superbike with quick shifter and up to date techs on a K5 engine... I'm sold! Although I wish they would've just remove ABS and mark the bike at $10,000, and perhaps give it a red colorway 😋. I try not to be bias and give other brands a try but Suzuki always get things right.

    Why did they have to drop the iconic front fairing? It just looks unfinished and there's no reference to its originality, the Katana, why? I know naked bikes are seen as trendy at the moment, why i don't know but hey ho, I'm into sports tourers, ones with protection, enough power under the hood and bikes that are a PROPER pillion seat, not this poxy little thing they have and the MT09 and MT10 have gotten rid of the majority of the seat space too. I rode on the MT10 on the poor excuse of a pillion seat, and it felt dodgy, there was nothing to hold onto so I grabbed ahold of his shoulders but after a while it hurts, basically because i was being pulled off it and had no way of staying on other than grabbing ahold of his shoulders, not ideal at 70+ mph on a motorway, it proper shat me up!
