    Suzuki were kind enough to let me loose on their revised GSX-S1000 for a few weeks. But is this just a face lift and some fancy headlights or is there a cracking litre road bike underneath? Join me for this first ride review as I try to find out!

    Suzuki bikes are the most underrated, especially this one and the 750. They aren’t the flashiest, or the best, but they tick all the boxes for a daily rider. Even the gixxer is such a comfortable kick a** sport bike.

      If you think they are underrated then you are wrong. They sell more bikes than some European manufacturers like Ducati and BMW combined and obviously last longer than them.
      You should say Suzuki aren't much discussed amongst the online bike racers lol.

      @@deathtomorons9388 spot on. I didn’t know the sales numbers, so thanks for enlightening me on that. Love Suzuki bikes so much that I’m glad that they sell more than the “status” bikes. As a gixxer owner I’m always considered a threat to life😂

      @@brandonjoseph3422 I also own a 2018 gixxer R1000. It's a great bike running till date without any problem.
      Suzuki also have a very rich MotoGp record. It's the 4th most winning manufacturer while ducati is only at 5th.
      Suzuki especially the Gixxers and the Hayabusa have a high prestige in the biker community.
      Don't forget that Suzuki was the first to revolutionize the world of naked bikes with the Suzuki Katana and the Legendary SV650X.

      Suzuki bikes are very underrated. For instance the r6 is seen as such a track weapon. Thats all you hear about it. Track weapon. Track weapon. My gsxr 600 makes the same power at a lighter weight, but no one calls it a track weapon. Smh

    After one year and 8000 km I have never tried the A mode😂 Bike is awesome, Dans review is spot on! Display is often critizised, but you can always read speed, gear and rpm😅
    Engine, gearbox and suspension are fantastic for the road. Can recommend it also for inexperienced riders or even talented new riders. It is so much fun even in C Mode and with traction control fully on. But with so much performance you should know what you are doing. Accelerates from 100 to 200 kmh in 5,4 sec.😊

    Nice review. Too many people get caught up in spec sheets instead of actually riding a bike! I really like it as do most reviewers seemingly. It's an underrated relative bargain & perfect for the road. I like the looks too but not that colour. The dash is pretty average & a bit busy but I'm not overly fussed with TFTs so being an LCD isn't a deal breaker for me personally. Supposedly if you turn it up to max brightness it's not too bad.

    • @longdog67
      @longdog67 2 роки тому +2

      All the reviews have been really good. However, since those first ride reviews, have you noticed how not one has mentioned it since in a group test. It's now once again completely off the radar.

    • @ragerider6283
      @ragerider6283 2 роки тому +10

      @@longdog67 Yep totally agree. Essentially because it's not premium with at least 175bhp, it doesn't exist. There are potentially 2 types of group tests, one that looks at performance to determine the outright best bike & the other is a real world test that takes price in to account. When was the last time you saw the latter? The GSXS will never appear in a performance group test but could potentially win the real world one. Possibly one of the best value bikes on the market at the moment in terms of what you get for your money. On price it's competing with the KTM Duke 890R & Triumph Street Triple RS & has way more bang for your buck. However most people will completely ignore it to their detriment.

    • @brianglendenning1632
      @brianglendenning1632 2 роки тому +1

      Jeff, not directly on point, but I went from a 17 Sv650 to a 17 S1000r, where (for reasons set out on my post above) is probably similar in terms of rider aids to my 17 s1000r. I was a brand new rider when I bought the SV, and 14 months later bought the BM. I chose the BM over the 17 GSXS1000 because it lacked the rider aids the BM had, and a horrible snatchy throttle. At the time I was confident that the rider aids would help me grow in to what was at the time an insanely quick bike, where the reliance on my skills (then limited) due absence of rider aids on the Suzuki was too much a a risk, for me. The BM has been great, and 52000 later it is great. My theory is the 22 GSXS1000 would be very similar to my 17 s1000r in terms of rider aids and you will, if you have some self control and do things to improve your skills (I have done many track days). If anything, the Suzuki probably sounds a little better than the BMW (which sounds gruff at idle) and as you will know the reliability might be even better. But, hang on to the SV - I got AU$5500 on trade and wish I had it for urban commutes where 1000cc is just unnecessary, and the slow runs can cause carbonisation

    Simple anwser and forbtye money definitely yes! It will do the weekly commute and the weekend blasting with mates!! Obviously if you want more bhp then you will need to pay more for that! But I recon an average rider on a public road this will be as quick down the favourite road as bikes costing twice as much! Cause as usial the limiting factor is the rider capabilities and the resistance to the "scar yourself silly" moments. Not the bikes capabilities or grip from the tyres. On a track it probably will be a different story but as well a slow rider will be slow on a Streetfighter V4S as well as this! Good review!

I assume that I don't keep looking at the dash. So, of course it would be better to have a TFT, but keep in mind this: cost x benefit. Maybe the best in this category. Do you prefer this to the CB1000R? More low-down shove than one. I'd like the Suzuki if I had need for a litre bike, but the roads in Thailand don't require so much power. I used to have B-King in Europe. A bit too heavy at 265 kg, though. The 1000 is pretty light, relatively speaking. These litre-plus Suzuki inline fours can often get to over 80,000 miles without needing a valve shim. Fantastic old-school engines.

    Nice review but I wish Dan would get his facts right. The new gsxs makes LESS peak torque (but more lower down the revs) and MORE power than the previous models not less! The engine is from the K5 to K8 gsxr 1000 and not the 750.

      That's the downside of trying to remember all of the bike stats that I memorised while out riding and getting lost. It's definitely easier to sit at a desk and look them up. The K5 comment was meant as, have they gone the same route as the S750 and used the K5 engine (as in, K5 1000 gixxer for this particular bike). Which is a yes as I now know. I do this for fun and in my spare time, I'm not a professional rider or journalist, so I get things wrong on occasion. Worse things happen at sea.
