    You nailed right at the beginning.
    Why bother when you can have them both?
    Jokes aside, 1911 is for fun, 17's for duty.

      I think 1911's are for serious gun people who are really into them. Nothing wrong with the Glock as a duty gun. Glocks are much easier to maintain than a 1911 and do not require a more greater understanding of the design than the 1911.

      Um, I believe many soldiers both basic and elite delta had much success w the 1911 for business vs fun. Also champion shooters dont usual sport glocks but do 1911s. Maintaining a 1911 is not much work and only has a few parts to take apart, so if that's too hard maybe a glock is for you. Glocks are fine guns, but ugly as hell, trigger is crap and the grip is to, plus all plastic guns are in my opinion cheap looking and feeling like my son's toy guns. Glocks are good for newbies who dont understand you need specific magazines and they are a little snappy due to their weight and size. I might buy one down the line but my Springfield 1911 fires like a champ.

    I decided to buy my first pistol this year and was torn between the 1911, M9 berreta or a glock 17. Ended up going with a kimber TLE 1911. It was hard to clean at first but im so glad I went with the 1911. The feel is unmatched the steel looks amazing and the history...🇺🇲

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  3 роки тому +4

      They(1911s) are definitely my favorite handguns, and Kimber is amazing, especially for the price. My Glock recommendation in this video mostly refers to a wear and tear/low maintenance pistol. We use our glocks in very rough environments 30 - 40 days a year. They stay wet for days, get holstered with mud on them, broken down and put into backpacks in pieces, etc. I would never treat my 1911s like that ha. Glock is just so darn reliable and tough that it has to be my #1 for active use in the field while hunting and staying in remote areas.

      @@UnprofessionalOutdoors I carry my S&W 1911 every whereand in any weather condition. It is a tool, it looks good, but I didn't just buy it for it's looks, I bought it for self defense. It has a scandium frame, so it weighs about the same as a Glock 19 when it is unloaded (28 ounces), all the steel parts are stainless steel, so no rust worries. It shoots anything I feed it, even steel cased rounds. It has an ambi safety, flared mag well and it's accurate. It went on a week long deep sea fishing vacation, got soaked in salt water the firsttwo days and all I did was rinse it thoroughly in fresh water at the end of each day. It functioned perfectly when I got home. I stripped it down and cleaned it after shooting it. That was10 years ago and it's still going strong. As for round count, it might not carry as many rounds as a Glock, but then again, the rounds are twice the size. To me, accuracy with your rounds is more important than throwing rounds down range and hoping you hit something vital. As for the Glock safety, I agree with you there, they need a manual safety. The gun with the most accidental discharges is the Glock and because of their popularity with people who have little to no training, they are also responsible for the most accidental deaths. More kids have died from finding their parents Glock and accidentally shooting theirselves or others because all they have to do is pull the trigger by accident. If you want a striker fired handgun for your first gun, get a S&W M&P or Springfield XD, you can get a manual safety with those

    You are correct. I bought a G19 for my first gun because I was a novice and I wanted something easy to operate and maintain for my concealed carry. After shooting and cleaning it so much I got more confident to venture off to different platforms and I bought a 1911A1 and a AR. Got familiar with all of those and it grew into a fun hobby. Working on getting a revolver now. I'm a lot more confident with working with guns over the years so I don't mind the challenge of buying new guns.

    Do you know how to take down a 1911 properly do you know how to use a firearm properly. If you are buying a firearm whether it be first time or not you want an accurate firearm which glocks are. But a 1911 is so much better. If you are scared to use it then why did you buy it? Not a very accurate video as to which one you should go with.

      Yeah I see many videos where 1911 owners say I'm too afraid to dirty or use it up....well maybe that's why you prefer the glock....if youbtreated the 1911 the same maybe you would prefer it as your main gun for carry.

    If you have no idea which gun you want then it’s better to buy a plastic striker as a first gun. You will understand how much you need a handgun If you like shooting and carrying handguns then try 1911 or 2011… 1911 is way more complicated platform and more expensive handgun. If you like to own a real nice handgun then 1911 is your choice. I am not a super big fan of 1911s I just owe a dozen… just a fan

    I'm entirely a 1911 person. With that said though, no way do I think it should be a first gun purchase for those who are not familiar with it. For those who have shot it plenty of times and understand the disassembly and critical points of lubrication, then yes by all means nothing wrong with purchasing a 1911 first. I would suggest though not going overboard price wise and start more with a budget friendly 1911 such as a Springfield Armory mil spec. If it's entirely a first gun purchase and user has zero 1911 experience. In my opinion, the 1911 is not the option to go with. Other options such as Glock, Walther, HK, and CZ are more appropriate.

    Even tho in my country holding handguns is illegal (.22 for sporting competition only exception or you're in the Northern part points to whoever can guess the country)
    I own airsoft gas blow back replicas. I've had berreta m9, glock 18c and 1911. so far glock fits me best for ergonomics as a left hander and it just feels utilitarian more than the others I wish glocks came with a g18 selector but only semi and safe for civ sale in murica or just a neutered 18 slide because the extra safety on top of the trigger safety just feels better to me. But hands down I'd take glock over any of them because there's no end to what you can do to them out of the box with modifications and styling and they'll still look great even after fucking it around in course gravel.
