I just downgraded from a Glock 17 to a 19. I actually haven't had the Glock 17 in years, but I was considering either buying another one or going with something smaller. I'm a petite female with tiny hands, so I think it's going to be a lot more comfortable for me. I can't wait to pick it up next week 🎯 I was going to get a sig P365 or 320 but I'm used to Glocks and, honestly the sig is a bit intimidating with the girth of it (that's what she said) but seriously, it's a bit thicker, and since the price point was there with the Glock 19, I decided to go with that this time. I'll probably eventually either get a Glock 17 or a p365 in the future but I'm happy with my recent purchase. I think it will work out nicely for my size. I'm 5'5 and fluctuate between 115 and 130lbs.
I am surprised when people say the the G17 and the G19 has the same feel of recoil.. Recoil is a simplistic term that lumps reaction force, muzzle flip up and muzzle dive all in one term. I have noticed that the G19 slide dynamics is much more balanced in reciprocation due to the shorter length leading to less reciprocating mass. I first hated the G19 short grip as it used to pinch my pinky finger between the magazine plate and the bottom edge of the frame grip.. As such I ditched the G19 and got a glock 17 that I enjoyed shooting IDPA matches for 10 years, until last year when I shot my friend's G19 with an after market cut under the trigger guard. That little extra cut under the trigger guard allowed me enough space to raise my grip by about 0.25 inches enough to land my pinky on the grip and avoid the pinching of my pinky with the mag plate.. Then I discovered what a nice more balanced reciprocating slide the G19 has.. I ended up buying a G19 and did the cut under the trigger guard, and eversince I shoot my G19 more than my G17 for that sweet balance.
I got a 17 and happy with it. I could be buying different Glocks but in the end I'd rather be spending my money buying ammo! No matter which Glock is better, if no ammo, it won't make any difference!

I traded in my 19 for 17 best decision I made. It just feels better in every way. 19 only would be good for CC but CC is hard to get in CA so there’s really no point in forcing a smaller frame when it’s for home defence/target practice.

I've owned my Gen 2 Glock 17 since the 90's. The accuracy and reliability of this gun is second to none. I have literally put thousands of rounds through this over the years and never had a single malfunction - Not even one... People have offered to buy this from me on multiple occasions and I would never part with this gun. I have used it as my daily carry since I bought it - and I conceal carry. No one ever knows that I have it on me. So, the 17 is very concealable. I have shot the 19 as well and there is very little difference, if any.... I have shot many different guns from many different manufacturers. There are many really good guns, but I swear by Glock.

Good presentation Mr. KAYA 👍👍👍👍👍👍 If one is a CCW holder and Does carry when out and about it is true that the Glock 19 is more concealable as the G45 still has the longer grip that prints a little more. All 3 ; 19, 17, G45 are great guns and I don't think anyone can make a mistake with which ever one they choose. Just practice as much as you can until the gun becomes an extension of your movements .

I watched this whole video last night before I had to go to work. Awesome vid btw. I love the comparison. I find that the 17 and 19 are both very similar yet very unique in their own ways. It all depends on you and your preference, honestly.
I have a G45 and I WON it from a raffle at my local range raffle lol. So it’s true you can actually win a free gun like classic does! I was given a budget of 600$ and could pay for anything extra. They gave me a sheet with almost all the options they make and have a Springfield Hellcat pro already I wanted something bigger so a G45 MOS it was. Also got Ameriglo Bold Night sights from the factory. I’ve added a bunch of custom parts from tungsten guiderod, 4lb striker spring and plunger spring, ghost edge connector and apex trigger kit. Silencer co threaded barrel and extended control. Runs like a dream and no issues at 5k rounds. Got it on Feb 20th.
I carry a Gen3 17 for defense, I was issued with a Gen3 19 for work last year, I can honestly say they shoot the same, it's all up to the shooter, what fits your hand better and how good you shoot each one, I have big hands so the 17 is good for me, 19 was okay. I now have a glock22 Gen3 for work and you'd never believe it but it shoots the same as the 19 and 17 as well
"Beware of the people who have only One gun. They probably know how to use it." I'm a Glock Armorer. And after going through every Glock out there, I've opted for the Glock model 22. This is My personal/professional choice. And with the Rise with each shot of the factory barrel, I've opted to a Double Compensated barrel. Now there's no twist or Jump of it at all and there's a better feed ramp. Now it's not only more accurate and doesn't jump, but now I can use unjacketed rounds, firing pure lead rounds. The safety is my finger and I don't Israeli carry. After all of my military and sheriff's dept training and decades of professional experience, this is my set-up and it works flawlessly.
The Glock 43X is 100% a specialized EDC handgun, to wear the whole year using an IWB holster and PSA Micro 15 round mags. The Glock 19 is a hybrid EDC handgun to wear on the winter using a shoulder holster or as a home defense handgun on daily bases. The Glock 17 instead, is 100% a battle handgun for SHTF and/or for home defense, using a OWB Safariland holster. Every handgun has its perfect purpose.
On duty and off duty I carry 17. Amazing pistol. And that's from a guy who carried Sig 226 for seven years and then .40 with DAK trigger for eight years.
Most seem to find the G17 is just a bit too large for everyday and day-to-day carry. The 19 and 26 seem to be better suited for that role. However, after watching this, I am going to carry my 17 a bit and see how it feels?
@@d7dun1010Sold the 19 and now use the 17 exclusively. The hump sits higher on a 19 making it feel very strange in my hand, plus the 17 has a theoretically larger window of reliability. 17 and 26 would be a good idea.
Great job ... I have a Glock 17, but it is hard to conceal. This is an informative and helpful video on the strengths and weakness of these two models of Glock handguns.
I own both. I bought the Glock 22 in 1999 and converted it to 9 mm with a Lone Wolf conversion barrel and then to a threaded barrel (9mm). I started carrying concealed in 2012 with a Taurus Millenium G2 which,by the way, likes hot loads and a serious grip for best functionality, to carry concealed. In 2016 I bought a Glock 19 Gen 4, added a stainless steel threaded barrel, an MCarbo trigger, ghost ring tridium sights, and put a hogue grip sleeve on it. I love my 19 and carry it everywhere everyday. I still have my Glock 17/22 and gave my Taurus to my younger brother.
Great video. I was considering between the 17, 19 and 45. You helped me decide on the 45 simply for the size of the hand grip and that it's closer to the 19 for concealment. Thank you!
I always feel less muzzle flip on the 19, maybe less mass kicking, and more accuracy. Maybe the best solution for bigger hands are the hybrid models 19x or 45, for my small/middle size hands i wish Glock produce a 26x, a 26 barrel and slide on a 19 frame ❤
I prefer the Goldilocks approach here: the G17 is too big but has great capacity, and the G19 has great size but too small capacity, so I went with the just right G45. And for those who like to think outside the box, I also got an IWI Masada, virtually identical to the G45 in size, weight, shape, capacity & reliability, but only about half the cost of the G45 MOS.
The 17 is not too big at least for me that is. I use to think it was until I started conceal carrying it and realized it's not too much of a big deal. I'd rather have the extra benefits of a full size handgun then a compact. And if I have to compromise I'll take the 19x/45
@@jimlanham86 nice I want a glock 34 badly. I keep telling everybody I know that carries to go full size handgun and ccw those guns they don't believe they can do it... I always tell them wear if you wear the right clothes and actual have a decent holster setup/you are aware of how you set up your gun for carry it's easy to conceal a pistol of a glock 17 size or a bit bigger
I have the Glock 17 gen 5 and I love it. I've never fired Glock 19 but I believe it would be easier to conceal and therefore a better choice for a do all handgun.
I have owned pistols from various companies for almost 40 years, including Glock's. Whenever, I watch a Glock video I alway hear the same phrases over and over like: "they just work", "they are dependable and reliable." Just like in this video. I can say that about any of my other pistols in my collection that are not Glock's too. Glock was the best striker fired poly pistol on the market when they were the only poly striker fired pistol on the market. The competition caught up to Glock and passed them up a long time ago. A Glock will serve you well, but you can get a way better pistol than a Glock for the same or lesser price of a Glock.
Yup I agree. The only reason I got a Gen3 G19 is parts availability and the CZ P-10’s weren’t out yet. I like and shoot my P-10’s (2-C’s & F), M&P 9 2.0 5”, Archon Type B, & VP9 much better.
@@J.Young808 I have a VP9 and and M&P9 also too. Also with a Glock, you have to replace a lot of the factory parts which tacks on more cost to the pistols. I do not see the sense of buying a $599.00 G17, then spend another $300.00 to replace the sights, mag release, slide release and the trigger. Now you have a $900.00 pistol. I bought my VP9 new for $625.00 and the M&P 9 for $450.00 and I have not replaced a darn thing on them because they are awsome pistols right out of the box.
@@doobiedoo7623 that’s fine. Nobody cares. All that matters is Glock outsells and out performs whatever u chose to buy. Just swallow the cope instead of getting made at Glock for no reason 😭. Also you clearly don’t know what u are talking about because it’s not $300 to change the sights and the trigger on a Glock. Glocks performance trigger is $80 and u can replace the sights for $100, which u would have to do to any pistol if u decided u want a RDS on it.
I run gen5 19 for conceal carry and I run drills with it. Mines a conceal/duty gun. But have been looking into the 17 for a training gun on my battle belt just to switch it up sometimes. But if you train alot you can be good all the way around. Biggest thing is people need to actually train.
With proper grip and training, recoil isn't an issue. Larger hands need a larger frame. The longer slide of the 17 assists with getting back on target faster. The 19 will clear a holster faster, and recoil can be managed, but the 17 helps stay on target which translates to getting on target faster which helps with faster follow up shots. 19 is much better for conceal carry, but depending on draw stroke, the 17 will usually be a little faster on target and will be more accurate. For how Glocks are designed, they are intended for close range combat.... 15 yrds and in. At that distance, both work just as well, so the better pistol depends on your hand size. smaller hands, get the 19. Larger hands, get the 17. If you are running a 17 mage in a 19 or an extended mag in a 19, just get the 45. I have and used all 3. All 3 are winners, so try some at the range and but the one you find the most comfortable to use. I like my 19, but for my hands the 45 and 17 fit better. 25 yrds and in for qual, I'm just as accurate with all 3. If you go MOS with an optic, sight radius doesn't matter and length wont be noticed until you fire at around 50 yrds for farther. Personal use after 17 years for experience, the 45 or 19x is the best for me but that due to hand size. Smaller hands and the 19 would be the best choice. Little more snappy but with proper grip, you won't notice it after a mag or 2.
Winter coming only thing to really conceal a G17 big ol jacket. Feels better in my paws great for forest hikes an property inspection. Summer time go for a smaller firearm.
I was having the same issue, I’d pinch the CHRIST outta my hand on combat reloads. My 6’4 frame big mitts were swallowing up my G19. I’ve always used the G17 and it’s good to go. The G45 is my EDC now , fits just right. Excellent comfort on concealment and the grip is perfect.
Looks like 2 missed for the 17 and 3 on the 19 17 grouping was much better and centered .. also shot the 19 slower giving more concentration these two are close but not going to fetch the same results .. hand size build will help chose whats best for you but the 17 is more accurate in the right hands (experienced) shooters
My personal opinion is that Glock 19 is easier to hide in summer because of the shorter handle. Glock 17 have little less recoil. I have them both and made Glock 17 for longer ranges with aftermarket parts. Glock 19 is my appendix carry gun with only good red dot. I usually carry one extra 19 round magazine to Glock 19. Oh and they both have threaded barrels for one suppressor.
The Glock 19 can use Glock 17 magazines, and aside from longer sight radius, there is no reason to use a Glock 17. The Glock 19 has lots of conversion options. You shoot .22lr out of a Glock 19 plus a plethora of carbine conversions.
I love that little extra girth in my 17, makes it a little more comfortable in my hands. I tend to open carry, and the only thing I added is a slide assist. Personally, I love it set up that way for basic use.
g19,22,21 best models for each caliber. 19 when you gotta go small, 22 night carry, 21 home defense. 23 is good you can get a 9mm conversion barrel and have 2 guns, same with g22
It's simple the 19 is better...............grip to conceal and capable of 17 mags !!!! 17 your stuck with one size hand grip and mag, NOT talking about 33 rounders!!
Im looking to get my first gun also in california. I was thinking sig 226 for home with g9 external hollow points. For basically very little recoil. Although now thinking about it i should check to make sure the lightweight bullet wont cause cycling issues. But i was between that and a 19 for carry or. Just a 17 for both. Or just a 19 for both and im still deciding
Great content!!!! Would have enjoyed it more with the G26 also in the running! There is as much difference between the G17 and G19 as there is between the G 19 and the G26.
Shottem both extensively, and I genuinely prefer the 19. But I think it’s because I carried it for so many years , I just got more comfortable with it, they are both great choices!
I have a 19 that I put a Ram jet afterburner on it and the gun is incredible, no recoil impulse allows me to shoot very fast very accurately. New trigger Glock performance and a Johnny Glock trigger shoe, and a holosun green dot, and I can shoot that 19 phenomenally.
I wonder if you could recommend a firearm for my wife I bought a Glock 43x she doesn’t like how it fires a little to much recoil for her would a 19 be better for her or could you recommend something I try for her
ive yet ro try the G 19. (3rd gen ), but i have recently tried the G17. (3rd gen ) , i felt the grip a bit too thin for my liking , does the 19 have the same grip width ?
I always thought the 19 would be better for carry. But I discovered no difference between it and the 17. I prefer the 17 over the 19 now. Plus, I'm far more accurate with it. With a 47, you can get best of both worlds by merely buying a 19 slide..
My hands are too big for the G19. I own and carry a G19. Theres mag extensions, finger extensions, slide extensions, comps, and other items you can add to make the 19 the same size or bigger than a 17. But you can't buy a 17 and make it 19 size. The G19 is the most common handgun in North America, and the aftermarket parts, upgrades, and customization options reflect that.
Carried Glock 19 for years. Lately I’ve switched to the 17. More capacity and more accurate. It conceals just fine if you know what you’re doing.
Yep.
I use a leather paddle holster, which can be easily moved around discreetly whilst wearing
Agreed, i also switched to gen 3 17, i carry appendix. With right holster and belt, it is carried just as comfortably as the g19.

I always prefer the Glock 19 over the 17 and I have big hands.
Glock 45 is the best way to go! Best of both worlds. I love mine.
Cool story, bro
19 for the win, thanks Kaya!
Well said Kaya. I have a G19 and I couldn’t agree with you more
i've tried both .the 17 fits better in my hand and seems more stable. not as concealable, but it seems better to me because of grip
That intro crazy🔥🔥🔥
Rip Mr Glock , the hood love you
Glock 45 “ hold my beer!”
On duty and off duty I carry 17. Amazing pistol. And that's from a guy who carried Sig 226 for seven years and then .40 with DAK trigger for eight years.
Best guns for the situation they are called for. Equal in perfection.
If I could only have one it would be the G19. The G17 is a pretty big gun. The 19 is a better all around gun. Great video sir.
The reason I got the Glock 17 is because it so big and square and ordinary.
i can't conceal it either, im small guy, 5'10 tall 150 pounds the most. it really shows on me
Really cause I conceal my Glock 22 and have 0 issues im 511 at 235
Why need to conceal, in Europe you can't even go around with a gun in your pocket unless you're a police man or a sensible person like a judge
@@K.Marx48this is America and we have rights and I’d rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6
I have both 17 and 19. The 17 is a Gen 1 that I got back in 1989 and the 19 is a Gen 4. Also have the 43Xmos and my wife has a 42. Great video 👍👍
M no
If you have large hands the g17 frame is where it’s at! Maybe it should be G45 vs G17 😂.
My GLOCK22, GEN3 .40 cal is the perfect gun for me. I prefer something with a bit more knockdown power than a 9mm.
Same.
Lol 😂 knockdown power ?
@@carminemurray6624 Yeah. Knock down power. What do you find amusing about that?
I have the 17 gen 4 and it usually stays on my nightstand with the boom stick!
Great video. I was considering between the 17, 19 and 45. You helped me decide on the 45 simply for the size of the hand grip and that it's closer to the 19 for concealment. Thank you!
The 45 is a 19 slide with a 17 frame. Its pretty much the same thing as the 19x just without the lanyard loop.
Winner 19x/45
Mr920L
Ding Ding Ding!
Winner winner chicken dinner 19x and 45
I have a glock 45 and glock 47 mos. Love them both. Trying to acquire a glock 34 now
Exactly!
Use a 17 mag in the 19
2 rounds? Come on!!!
The 17 is not too big at least for me that is. I use to think it was until I started conceal carrying it and realized it's not too much of a big deal. I'd rather have the extra benefits of a full size handgun then a compact. And if I have to compromise I'll take the 19x/45
@@AN_APPEAL_2_HEAVEN i ccw the even bigger 34...it may be me easiest to carry
@@jimlanham86 nice I want a glock 34 badly. I keep telling everybody I know that carries to go full size handgun and ccw those guns they don't believe they can do it... I always tell them wear if you wear the right clothes and actual have a decent holster setup/you are aware of how you set up your gun for carry it's easy to conceal a pistol of a glock 17 size or a bit bigger
I have the Glock 17 gen 5 and I love it. I've never fired Glock 19 but I believe it would be easier to conceal and therefore a better choice for a do all handgun.
wrong thats the glock 26 thats best all around. u know nothing about guns just like this bozo
Glock 17 With a 15-round mag from Glock 19, the frame is filed
Doobie just swallow the cope and move on. Glock nor their buyers care about your opinion, because that’s all it is. A opinion 🥱
@@9770G When people stop making these silly marks about Glock pistols, I will stop expressing my aforementioned opinion.
Glock 17 gen 4
Heyyy this guy knows
I have the Glock Gen3 19 9mm and I like the Glock 19 9mm.
My favorite is the GLOCK model 45.
I got a Glock 19 Gen 5 and think it’s time for another pistol for my inventory, any good suggestions ?
How do these weapons compare to the “Nerf Flex Blaster” tho…
45 for battle belt. 43x for CC
45 for the win
I have a 19 gen5, 43X and a 42,love all of them and carry each one depending on where I’m going and what I’m doing.
Thanks. Great video. I wish I had arms like this guy. I'm 78 and still working at it!
Conceal carry my 19, my duty firearm is Definitely my Glock 17. Fits my hands like a glove.
Winter coming only thing to really conceal a G17 big ol jacket. Feels better in my paws great for forest hikes an property inspection. Summer time go for a smaller firearm.
I have the clock 19 gen 4 and I love it
I love the clock 19 it tells the time so reliably and I never have a failure on it!! I’m always on time!!
So do I.

I picked the 19 gen 5 as my first and got the glock 47 when it was released to us citizens and love both and the interchangeability
Too many variations.. 43/19/19x/45..
I carry G23 .40 - just bigger than a 9mm I prefer
I was having the same issue, I’d pinch the CHRIST outta my hand on combat reloads. My 6’4 frame big mitts were swallowing up my G19. I’ve always used the G17 and it’s good to go. The G45 is my EDC now , fits just right. Excellent comfort on concealment and the grip is perfect.
G19x
@@raymondtorres7684 G19X is a very sweet piece. I love the color, it’s pretty much like my G45 with a few additions.
Which Glock is best for carry
Looks like 2 missed for the 17 and 3 on the 19
17 grouping was much better and centered .. also shot the 19 slower giving more concentration these two are close but not going to fetch the same results .. hand size build will help chose whats best for you but the 17 is more accurate in the right hands (experienced) shooters
17 for duty, 19 for self protection....19x for everything 😂
For me a 17 is perfect size for carry I don’t like how small a 19 is I do have large hands though. And being 6’5 it’s not hard to conceal carry a 17
The 45 and 49 also exist now if people are torn or having trouble deciding on one.
The Glock 19 can use Glock 17 magazines, and aside from longer sight radius, there is no reason to use a Glock 17. The Glock 19 has lots of conversion options. You shoot .22lr out of a Glock 19 plus a plethora of carbine conversions.
17 ----------IT'S THE ORIGINAL AND HAS MORE POWER BETTER GRIP AND SIGHT PICTURE
Glock 19 for portability. Glock 17 for functionality.
Why not toss in a 43x? at least for a concealed carry pint of view.
I own 45, 17, and 19 lol. Prefer the 45 for owb or conceal, 17 for range, and 19 for conceal and range.
I love that little extra girth in my 17, makes it a little more comfortable in my hands. I tend to open carry, and the only thing I added is a slide assist. Personally, I love it set up that way for basic use.
What state do you live in to open carry? Do you get a lot of surprised reactions?
Probably texas I see it alot
19 with extended mag,no pinch..full grip
g19,22,21 best models for each caliber. 19 when you gotta go small, 22 night carry, 21 home defense. 23 is good you can get a 9mm conversion barrel and have 2 guns, same with g22
I am a Glock 19 man. I love the Glock 19 gen 3.
It's simple the 19 is better...............grip to conceal and capable of 17 mags !!!! 17 your stuck with one size hand grip and mag, NOT talking about 33 rounders!!
Why didn't you just mention the Glock 45. It has a 19 slide and a 17 frame? Best of both worlds
Glock 45 FTW
Personally (I live in California so I may not matter) I carry the 19 with a spare g17 mag. And have the 17 set up as the bump in the night gun.
Or just a 19 for both and im still deciding
why would u do that. what benefit do u get
Great content!!!!
I want to point out that the weapon safety and muzzle awareness in this video is IMMACULATE
I just got them both plus 19X and 45 are sweet blasters and my favorite Glocks .
I like the Glock 17 for self defense
Do you switch the spring out to titanium?
Yes, the 45 is the best Glock in the market. If I could only have one handgun, it would be a 45
I always thought the 19 would be better for carry.
