  • In todays video, I start by ensuring listeners that their mental health diagnosis are not their destiny. They must know this. Just because some therapist or doctor told them they qualify for having "Depression" or MDD (Major Depressive Disorder), does not mean that they are banished to the underworld of mental angst for the rest of their lives. They do not have to stay depressed. They can fight back. You fight back by getting back up. You fight back by punching back. You can perform these actions in your life. Maybe you are depressed because your relationships stink. Accept that, and work towards improving them in whatever way you can muster. Maybe you are anxious or confused, and you do not know why. You get diagnosed with GAD (Generalized anxiety disorder) and you accept the fact that you are a neurotic - "on edge" - type of person. You should not simply accept this. You should work to improve it. Maybe you are engaged in "hookup culture" - this is described in the video. Maybe being engaged in this culture of "casual intimacy" - again described in the video - has made you more anxious when communicating because you are nervous that the next person you meet and eventually hookup with will leave your heart shattered yet again. Maybe the problem is not supposed to be solved with a pill. Maybe the problem is to be solved by changing your lifestyle - a "traditional" way to shift your brain chemistry (instead of the artificial way in pill form).
Eventually, I list out six objective routes to improving mental health.
    1. Relationships
    2. Bodily Health (Exercise, Nutrition)
    3. Community Involvement
    4. Religious Involvement
    5. Spiritual Health
    6. Routine Health (and upkeep)
Each of these sectors are distinct - with the exception of 3(community involvement) and 4 (religious involvement) being heavily linked. But they all do intertwine to create an optimal life circumstance for all who choose to implement them.
Also, I discuss how it is much easier to sit on your phone and be on social media than it is to get involved with a new community. But, yet explain how important it is to get out of the arena of comfort, the zone of comfort, and put the phone down in search of a more complete you.
The routine health is traced back to the idea that your routine is every singe day. Every day of your life, you should be implementing some sort of routine. When you wake up. When you go to sleep. Both things are very important in this context. Sleep is your state of recharge for the day ahead. Do not sacrifice the day ahead for the instant gratification of the night before. This is permissible once or maybe twice a week, but not everyday. This all tied back to respecting yourself. Your unconscious patterns of routine which are learned via your behaviors every single day will have a huge effect on you. Pick up the responsibility of cleaning up your sleep schedule and watch your mental health flourish! Do not rely on some pill to be the magic trick, or the "god" for you. You need to pick yourselves up by the dang boot-straps and be ready for battle. The battle is the day. And the days turn into weeks. Which turn into months. Which turn into years. The routine is the backbone. Let your routine stand up straight and so will your life.

You basically just sent a message to the world saying that you should also be ashamed if you are taking drugs for physical illnesses. Because as you said, wouldn’t that also imply you are falling victim to having heart disease or whatever else you are afflicted by? Please check what you are saying because a lot of people are going to be offended and shut you down. Yes, medication is not the answer all the time, but some people who have things like schizophrenia need medicine to treat their hallucinations. Giving people a list of things to check and saying it will change their life is a dangerous statement to make. Some people will follow your list and still have issues with their schizophrenia or personality disorder or whatever it may be. You are not qualified to treat people with mental illness so I’m not sure where you get it in your head that you are.

I respect your opinion. However, I did not discuss physical issues in this video - as indicated by the title this was in regards to mental wellbeing. Providing a list of things people should work on to improve their mental well-being is in no way shape or form "dangerous" it is potentially helpful and insightful. I understand there are exceptions - I am speaking to the general public who (mostly) do not have these rare exceptions. Saying I am not "qualified" is preposterous. I am not licensed, no. But I have seen what things work with people I am close to. And what things do not. People feel better when they have stronger relationships, when they are fit, when they are involved in things bigger than themselves, and when they are living in an orderly fashion. This video is to show health is not just a pill, and that whole scheme is frankly a scam. People do very well in healing through natural routes. Again, as far as things like you mentioned -schizophrenia - they should take their medication as they are a real threat to themselves and others. But people need to realize they can grow out of their inhibited current state. Life is about growth, and taking a pill the rest of your life will not facilitate that properly or to the highest degree.
p.s - I only responded because I believe your comment was written in good faith. Have a beautiful day.
