Got the FP3 for Christmas. Installation was 15 minutes. Had to remove the seats on my Heritage. Fired up the app, loaded the first map, turned on auto tune. Road around for couple of days, trying to hit all the rpm's in most gears. Loaded that map. Bike runs better than it ever has.
I have a Question, may sound silly, cause your marrying the fp3 to the bike, but how important is the phone If I lose the phone i used or break it, will any phone with the app. work ???
This is old I know, and there are more modern versions, but you do need this or something like this if you do any mods basically, or a dyno tune. I had Harley do my intake & exhaust after my 1000 mile break in so it wouldn't void my warranty. The Naples dealer didn't have a dyno. So they flash it. I noticed right away it ran like a raped ape. 20 minutes later I pass a van going 70, change lanes in front of the van and my motor shut off instantly & my rear wheel locked up & I almost died. I took it right back and it took them hours & numerous test rides to get it to run even decent. It was better with no retune. I bought a 2015, bought the fuel pack, and literally would change pipes and intakes on my lunch break and have it running amazingly well in 5 minutes, every time. Even with other mods, worked every time. If you don't have someone to dynotune your bike after mods, you need a programmer.
Thanks, good video. I have a 2013 Ultra limited. I have 4" Rhinehart slip ons, true duals and performance air filter. It was flashed by the dealer and it runs good and strong. My questions is, will spending $400 make my bike run $400 percent better? Is it worth the $$$. I'm not looking at changing anything any time soon. What would you recommend?
Tuned bike and ran it for about 20 minutes all sounded good so I turned it off. Put in new battery and turned on. Bike ran high rpm and other codes, then bike goes dead like if battery died. Any thoughts?
I heard you say not to use the Killswitch when cycling on and off to make your tuner connections . What do you do if you don't have an on/off switch which I don't on my '19 Street Bob...all I have is the run/off toggle button.
Hey man, sorry for the late reply but get in touch with Vance & Hines and they'll get you all set if you still need assistance. They also have a handy mix of videos to walk you through things - ua-cam.com/video/KKpf45BV1Co/v-deo.html
I just bought a FP3 for my road glide and the last 6 of the vin that pops up to connect to is the same last 6 as your vin it wouldn’t let me upload any maps to my ecu keep getting error msg Vance and Hines is sending me a new one I came across this video today and was like hey I got the same vin lol 😂
So download the map for your bike, then auto tune and send the auto tune to v&h? Or is it, download thr map and cruise around for a couple tanks, then send to v&h? Do we even use the auto tune feature?
It would depend on how close the downloaded tune is to your set-up. Typically flashing the bike and running 1-3 autotune sessions would yield the best results. If you can't find a tune close enough or need further assistance to get the bike running better then V&H support would definitely help out.
Hi am from India, I have installed vance and hince short shot exhaust on my Harley Davidson roadster. Didn't put a air filter, is there any compulsory to put a air filter
I have a 2018 Sportster 48 and I have Vance & Hines slip-ons that have not been installed. Would a Screaming Eagle tuner work well with the slip-ons to tune and help eliminate decel popping? Or is a V&H FP3 recommended?
Do you have to install this fuel pack if the bike gets a new pipe without a new air filter?. I have a bike on my list to buy someone wants to sell him and he only mentions v&h pipes in description so I have no idea if he has any fuel pack installed or maybe not because you don't need to?
hello from France!! witch map with a sreamin eagle performance dual muffler on a 2011 fxdf ?( already have screamin eagle air filter ) in the mp3 there is NO screamin eagle exhaust. thank you very much
I’d like to remap my 2015 FLHTK. I’ve got SE StreetCannon slip-on mufflers with stock headers and stock air cleaner. Is there a map I can use? I had the dealer set up the switching CVO style and don’t use the master switch. Can I still use the FP3? Thanks!
Hi, I just ordered my fp3 for my sportster 883 and I'm supposed to get it on Monday. My question is after flushing your fp3 to your bike does it automatically autotune itself to a noticeable performance or do you have to manually autotune it yourself. Sorry if I made it sound confusing but I'm hoping you would know what I'm asking. Thanks
quick question: I've just received a replacement of a faulty FP3, do i install it as a new FP? Do I have to marry it again to my bike and tune all over again? Can I marry it to a different bike? I am considering of changing my bike and was thinking of using it on a different one. Cheers
I threw on V&H Big Shots Long on my '11 Heritage. I'm also adding an Arlen Ness Big Sucker stage II Air kit. Doesn't the FP3 give you an option for pipes AND air cleaner setup?
You weren't asking me, but yes. Sort of. All the FP3 can maps assume you have a high flow air filter. It doesn't go by specific air intake model, but it does go by exhaust. For example a map may be "Vance and Hines big radius exhaust, hi-flo airfilter" etc.
@@morteparla6926 any bit of info helps. I think if I contact V&H, they can send me a map with that intake. Tho I think after losing the can map for my long shots, I'll just ride around with AutoTune running.
Sort of. Popped a lot down shifting and decelerating. Actually, I have discovered this...1. turn on auto tune. 2. go out to a remote road somewhere. 3. run through the gears hitting 5500 revs at least. 4. after you do that 2 or 3 times, flash that map and that may be enough. The auto tune is all about rpm and throttle position, not all the gears. If you run through 1st, 2nd, and maybe 3rd, you will get a good tune. Good luck.
Can you use the fp3 for tuning more than one bike? Also, once you map everything into the bike, do you need to have it plugged in all the time or you can map the bike, remove the fp3, and good to go? Planning on buying one of those but wanna clear the ice first as I have 2 fat boys in my garage and both are stage 1 but not previously tuned. Thanks.
Hey Dale - here's your answer per Vance & Hines - The Fuelpak FP3 may be removed from the motorcycle once the map has been flashed to the ECM. For Live Sensor Data and Diagnostic Code reading or any other map editing or viewing Android & Apple the Fuelpak FP3 must be plugged in.
Hi Dale. I keep mine in my locker but if you ever have to go to the dealership for them to do any work heaven forbid, you will need to bring the FP3 with you.
Hey there, the FP3 would be pretty helpful to get things tuned with your new setup and keep it running right. We think it's a worthy investment, but certainly up to you!
I just picked up a 2016 Street Bob all they did was put a Vance & Hines short staggered exhaust on it and it blew up my O2 sensors check engine light everything came on so they bought me the Vance & Hines map pack the intake and tune it all for me the bike was bogging and backfiring it's definitely worth it
@@killer44spl i have a 2018 street bob and i did am intake and exhaust change, and my check engine light comes on every once and a while. Did the fp3 clear that for you?
@@JPerez-zm4kr As a general rule of thumb, if you do anything to the bike related to the exhaust or air intake or both, you should also have it tuned/flashed with some sort of fuel management system. This also goes for cams. These things dramatically affect the way your bike runs/performs so by not doing a proper tune, you're only hurting yourself and the upgrades are pointless.
Hello. I know this an older video but is it just as easy to use this on a 99 road king? I just purchased my first harley and previous owner installed a v&h 2 into 1 pro pipe and different air cleaner. He said he never programmed it because it ran. The bike has been sitting for about 2 years I'm draining the tank and putting new gas in. It runs great for about a 1/4 mile then falls on its face. HELP please
I do not believe the FP3 supports the older EFI systems on the Evo engines. Besides, it sounds like you have other issues beyond what a tuner will fix. Pull your codes and see if anything is showing as a problem. Your description is very vague as well, what do you mean 'falls on it's face'? Cuts off? Bogs down? Loses power but stays running?
You really don't know how an engine and tuning actually works .. there is NO such thing as flashing a map that is tailored to another bike and expecting it works great on your bike...
Dude, you should consider doing radio. You have a serious radio voice!
Also your face, a face for radio

Was your bike riding like shit during the tuning process? Or no? Like backfiring
@@Cheaps928 Sorry, Been outa town. Yep, runs crappy during the auto tune because there is no map flashed while you are tuning.
Just installed Fueling reaper cams in my Harley and this made tuning a lot better.
Great info about getting Vance & Hines to tweak the map for you. Thanks! I just got mine today so I'll definitely check that out.
Nice video ,No goofy ass bullshit like a lot of people do just straight up business I like that

Is Vance and Hines looking and tweaking yoir MAP as a favor or is this a standard service they provide for all?
They will help anyone out if you reach out to their support.
Can this help your bike run cooler and more efficiently if it's stock? No exhaust or air mods? What about with the K&N filter and slip-ons?
What are the colors for pins p1 and p2 red and blue wires from the plug?
U mentioned the pink and grey p3 and p4
What if slip on exhaust I have is not on the list can I still use this
So, you say the FuelPak is tied to the vin of the first bike it's paired with, meaning you can't use one from another bike, correct?
Correct; it’s “married for life” to the first bike.
