- Review of the Triumph Rocket 3 R which was kindly lent to me by the guys at Laguna Motorcycles - www.laguna.co.uk/
Wow wow wow the Triumph Rocket 3 R is awesome! I absolutely love the Triumph Rocket 3 and had a blast filming this earlier in the year.
The Triumph Rocket 3 R is a beast of a machine at 2500CC and 221NM of Torque. The Triumph Rocket goes like a rocket but has such a confidence inspiring way about it that as silly as the numbers are the Rocket 3 is still completely manageable. That is what surprised me the most about riding the Triumph Rocket 3.
Another highlight was just how comfortable the Triumph rocket 3 R is. I could have ridden the bike all day and I would have been happy. The rocket 3 seat is wonderful and the seating position very natural. The Triumph Rocket 3 GT is a more relaxed seating position with feet forward but don’t let that give you the impression the Rocket 3 R is uncomfortable as it certainly isn’t.
The Triumph Rocket 3 R comes with great tech - a nice TFT screen as seen on the Scrambler XE, cruise control - which works well even though I couldn’t turn it off 😊 Multiple rider modes etc But what really makes the Triumph Rocket 3 Awesome is the way it rides. Big power, big stylema Brembo brakes for stopping and weighted perfectly for the bike to feel planted on the road. A true pleasure to ride. Comes in red or black and TFC version is the same riding position as the Rocket 3.

Great review. Ive got a TFC version and absolutely love it. Scraped the pegs once around a roundabout as I ride it like i stole it. 🥰
awesome video man!! greatings from brazil ❤❤
What an epic looking beast of a bike!
It sure is!
Great review - love the way you cover so much detail, but in an informal, chatty way.
Best bit of any review is always the involuntary reactions though, and your fit of giggles at 7'40" when you first opened her up spoke volumes.
Shame that Triumph has dropped the fuel tank from 24l on the previous Rocket down to 18l. Looking forward to your review of the GT model - as that's the one which particularly interests me - but that would really benefit from a larger tank.
Thanks! I nearly took that laugh at the beginning out as I thought it sounded really over the top 😂 the way the bike feels when it accelerates is so unique it just made me giggle. Ive got a street triple rs video to edit and after that it will be the GT going up. I've already filmed it.
I'll get my GT today. Love that beast!
Fantastic review of a ridiculous bike... which i must have!! Can't even imagine what that amount of torque must feel like. 😮
I think the word you were looking for was "ilk"... family or type. To "irk" is to annoy... "irksome".
Now subscribed to your most excellent channel. 👍
I love how it sounds, not loud and obnoxious.
Great review. I watched the other vid 1st but think I'd prefer the R model also. Ride safe
Thanks! Yeah R is a definite win for me! Probably my favourite ride of the year
literally everyone has that same laugh when they crank the throttle lol
It's such a weird giggly feeling that first tiny twist when you realise just how powerful it is 😂
Agree re exhaust and the horn!
beautiful I have one is a beauty greetings from Mexico
Sweet
When he laughs during acceleration…that when u know the thing is addictive
Nice review, Tommy. Good to see you back out there reviewing bikes. Wondered where you'd got to. BTW, I think you meant to sat ilk, and not erk. Looking forward to seeing what you think of the GT version. What is the TFC version - not heard of that?
Haha yeah ilk was the word I was looking for 😂
Sorry for the gap in videos, life has got in the way a bit. There should be quite a few in coming months though.
The TFC is the triumph factory custom version. Limited edition. They have a tfc bobber and thruxton too. Its bascially styling + custom exhaust. They look awesome though I think.
"A big butty lady" you killed me man 😂
wow very excellent bike 👌👌👌👌👌
It is indeed!
For the exhaust note, the car makers engineer their sound with pops and bangs from the over run. They are engineered to sound raucous. They also have a quite and loud switchable modes. This is something this bike could do with.
In fairness after riding the GT version I warmed to the exhaust note a bit more, it has something quite refined about it
@@TommyBarnezTV Modify it.
Nice vid, although i spent half the time thinking "change up, already for Jaysus sake!" :) (I have the red R myself)
haha no need! Awesome bike, since testing it I have changed my mind and think I would go for the red over the black, looks great in the red!
Has it been reliable, HerrB?
Is it have option to attach on the back seat holder like gt version? I'm a little bit worry about the back passenger
Yeah im pretty sure you can
Hello everyone from Australia the Rocket 3 is a fantastic bike!! Also this is my latest video of my Rocket 3 that I'm sharing trying to give hope and put a smile on Rider's & people's faces in lock down. With the words in the song at the beginning and at the end of the video hope you enjoy it. Share it with if you think it will help someone

to deactivate the cruise control you need to overly decelerate the trottle, meaning, you can kinda go over zero. or just tap the brakes. for hillhold to activate you need to give the front brake a firm squeeze, to deactivate it, just accelerate, or again, give the front brake a firm squeeze. RTFM they say!
I have the same bike and looking back I should have gotten the GT. The R is it’s nice but very heavy for in town riding and not very comfortable for 90+ minute rides. I am 5-10 and weigh 190lbs.
Ah thats surprising. I've ridden the GT too and I found i enjoyed the R a lot more. Can you make any adjustments to make it more comfortable?
@@TommyBarnezTV Easy. Install the middle pegs on the GT and you're sitting way more comfortable. The R handle bar is too heavy loaded imho. The GT with a new tweaks is more enjoyable imho. I've ridden both :)
...and nice filtering at the end there even passed that 'skinnier' bike lol
2xMT10s+1xHonda500= Insanity
Or genius...
Long time no see
Nice to have you back
Thanks! Unfortunately life got in the way a bit. I've got a few vids lined up now though
I am not a fan of Triumph but this bike is amazing.
Out of all the manufacturers I've tried ive found triumph consistently put out quality bikes. Nothing feels rushed or with corners cut.
@@TommyBarnezTV it is hard to decide for me between Triumph and Indian Scout bobber.
@@whitefang8329 I havent had a go on the scout bobber yet but absolutely love the look of it. Have tried the triumph bobber black which was a great ride, though prefer the look of the scout. Ive heard nothing but good things about it too
@@whitefang8329 the Scout is a very nice scoot but it wont touch the Rocket in any category other than MPG.
@@whitefang8329 I had a dude on a new Scout want to do a roll on race with me a few days ago, when he caught up at a traffic light he gave me the thumbs up. Not even close.
The exhaust note, yeah I agree. It's not bad, but it doesn't really suit the bike. I'm guessing the Rocket is Euro 5 compliant. When I had a ride on a Speed Triple RS with the high level Arrow cans, that does sound better. Speed Triple is probably euro 4, and the Speed Triple looks like it will be replaced later this year / early next year, when I'm expecting it to have a more muted euro 5 exhaust. I could be talking complete crap !
Have a listen to the recent street triple rs vid I did. Thats euro 5 with a yoshi and sounded awesome. Pretty sure the rocket is euro 5
@@TommyBarnezTV I think I remember watching that one. The yoshi exhaust did sound good, but it's always hard hearing the difference on videos :-D
My 2010 Street Triple has 91 legal DB's. My Zard 3-1 has 93,2DB. The R3 has legal 99DB! This for sure will sound super nice with an aftermarket exhaust :)
Did u buy one….thinking of maybe selling my Busa and Z900rs for one of these🤔
🤘
Hi which city is this so beautiful??
This was shot around South East UK in a county called Kent, a very beautiful part of the world, I'm very lucky
@@TommyBarnezTV wow thank you 😊 wish more luck to you
I test rode the GT cruiser pegged version. Very nice , it is a monster !
I kept doing the "Rossi leg dangle" , not for cornering speed , but just trying to find the pegs, I'm not used to cruiser style.
How did you find low speed corners ? To be honest I was a bit wobbly, and scared of dropping it. Once past the mini roundabout (etc) on corners at more than a few miles an hour it was fine.
It was very easy to ride, and I felt like Judge Dredd, The Terminator or maybe Batman. This is the kind of bike they might ride ...
I wouldn't want one as my only bike, it'd have to be second , third etc.. , would I like one ? YES ! Do I have a big enough garage or the spare cash, unfortunately no :(
Haha I'm actually just finishing off my editing of my gt vid which will be up tomorrow. Feet forward does feel a bit weird, and even more so with this bike than something smaller. I definitely preferred the R.
@@TommyBarnezTV Apart from the cash and garage space I'd need. The weight is still slightly off putting for those moments when I'd have to push it around. If it does around 38 MPG, it could do with a bit of a larger fuel tank. I still want one though !
@@karlosh9286 larger fuel tank and a reverse gear for maneuvering 😁
@@TommyBarnezTV yes on needing a reverse gear. Should do what Honda have on the Gold Wing , I think it's some mechanism using the starter motor for reverse gear :)
Loads of reviews comment on the price I recon it's ok compared to a Hardley Movin Son far superior bike in all departments.
That must be a bugger to keep clean with those abbreviated fenders, and oft- wet U.K. roads.
no heated grips......
Not as standard, but tried them on the GT model and they work well
@@TommyBarnezTV How bizarre
The Triumph luggage is rubbish. Hepco & Becker's C-Bow system fit this bike. I rode the Mk1 Rocher Roadster. heavy but it's all low down. I think this Rocket is good value. I want one. Ilk, not erk. 😁
🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️❗😂
Triumph do not support aftermarket noisy exhausts! They are ironically doing their bit for Euro regs! Even silencers will invalidate the warranty (they told me)...
