Previous R3 owner here with over 130000klm on one 2005 R3 and near 40000k on another 2010 R3R . I've ridden the new R3R and was very impressed how much more nimble it was compared to my old R3. I just traded my 2019 Fat Boy on 4/12/22 for a 2022 Triumph Rocket 3 GT 221. Now all I need is some globull warming in Chicago so I can ride it. The seat on the R3 is about 3” higher than the Fat Boy so that’s something I need to get used to. I’ve had it a week and I’ve only been able to ride 140-miles due to the crap weather. Triumph recommends 1k-miles to completely break in so it will be a while before I can tear it up in sport mode. 😎🇬🇧
Hey guys! Great work on this review. I have been intrigued by this machine ever since they released it. I have seen the GT in the flesh but I have not sat on one yet nor have I ridden one. I haven't really wanted to because I knew that if I did I may well end up wanting one. Ol' Man, Mate, you looked right at home on this machine! I really do like how they have engineered the rider triangle so that larger riders can be comfortable too. The cockpit, well... It's not bad. I think it's clever how they designed and laid everything out, but personally I think the display should be a bit larger. Or go with a full TFT. But I think I could get used to it. One thing that really got my attention was that Corbin, the legendary seat maker here in California, has created a touring solution for this bike that includes hard bags and a nice batwing fairing. It looks awesome! But oh, the cost. Aye, there's the rub! The cost will keep me away from this one I 'm afraid. Great bike though. I like this new Rocket 3 way better than the previous gen. Thanks again for the review. Cheers!

I've been thinking about trading my Yamaha R1 and getting a Rocket 3, after watching this video I believe I am for sure. My wife hates riding on the R1 as a passenger, I think this would be much better, while still having that power and handling I like.thanks for a great review of this bike, best one I've seen yet.👍👍
As usually, great review, guys! I really like the way you do your reviews. Full of information and very very reasonable approach. I was waiting for GT review and I am glad you dropped few words on comparison with R 18 because I remember you liked it a lot. I am tall as well (190 cm) so I always look forward to anything you share with us from that perspective. Again, great review! Thank you!
I rode a Gt and an R , today at the Sturgis Rally. About a seven or eight mile round trip demo ride with a nice long straight section and a decent S curve . Both bikes are very easy to ride and the torque is amazing. I'm not long legged, but I still preferred the Gt.
Very good and profesional review ! I really enjoy watching you guys and admire your commitment to test such a torque motorbike in low temperatures 👍 you must be very brave or extremely experienced riders 😀
Agreed.. need more long wheelbase bikes. Not sure if K1600 is to your liking, but would enjoy seeing that review. 66 inch wheelbase and will still wheelie 😁
My Xdiavel delivers 52-55mpg, sounds incredible (too loud with the termigoni and baffle out) but, sport is a bit snatchy some of the finishing looks better on the Triumph. For me the shaft drive is ideal but a belt drive on the X is the next best thing. The pannier setup is better thought out as I had to go after market. I do think both bikes are very similar and are best for comparison as power cruisers.
Another awesome job at a review. Thank you. I really loved the GT when I tried it out a couple of years ago. The looks, the power, the handling and the rider comfort are top notch. Two things killed it for me, and for my wife who would be the passenger. She found the passenger accomodations cramped and uncomfortable. The big reason is the passenger pegs are too high, maybe due to to the exhaust setup. The other is the lack of a "proper" rear fender, which is a pet peeve of mine on several newer bikes. I ride in some very messy conditions, and the rear setup would make real mess of the passenger and the back end of the bike. I know its not a touring bike, but a touring version with these changes would have me beating down down the door at my dealer.
I really like it. It looks heavier than it is, it's about the same weight as a Yamaha 1300 with more than double the power. Not usually in that big of a hurry, but it's nice to know it will go 0-60 in 2.73 sec. For myself the windshield would just be for looks because I don't plan on going 200 miles an hour. : )
@@MrDarcy-OlMan I did. Love the reveal, and the BMW. But, that Rocket III has your name on it :) At 63 and 5'7", the 2022 Goldline Speedmaster fits me perfectly, and it's a keeper. But when I grow up, I'll get a Rocket :)
I'm waiting on delivery of a 22 GT Rocket and eagerly listen to a lot of reviews. I enjoyed this one, and as I am 6"2', similar to the reviewer, it's good to know he finds the forward foot pegs comfortable. What with the handle bars being wide, and the mirrors that stick out, I gather there wont be as much lane filtering going on which is a little disappointing, but then swings and round-a-bouts.
Hello Darcy & Mr. Ol'Man, Thank you for this very detailed video. Very impressive machine that makes you dream. Currently with a GTR 1400, my big legs have a little trouble (I'm 1.85m) and I hope one day to be able to own a Rocket GT. Sorry for my bad English, I’m French. Thank you for your channel ✌🏼👍🏻✌🏼👍🏻✌🏼👍🏻
On your videos, I’d like you show how easy it is to back the bikes up! And how it feels to move it around without the engine on! This is another big bike needing a reverse gear.
Since it was launched and after having seen almost all videos on the net, I had "forgotten" this bike. I asked : Who needs such a thing? However I understand the need for a Gold Wing or a HD CVO, but.... All over the world it was claimed for being intimidating in some aspects like the weight and engine capacity. The time passes, Indian is about to launch the new Chief models, HD launches the 114 c,i. in the Sreet Bob, and BMW goes on with the R18... and you are making me think about all them in another slightly mild and forgiving way.
Maybe it's an American thing, but here, that exhaust would be considered as sounding bad. It honestly sounds like a powerful sewing machine. Exhaust would be the first thing I change.
A question beside: with what camera did you film this video ? I am impressed by the composition: new bike in front of an old castle like elegant house. Beautiful landscapes that sourround the subject presented. Additionally of course perfect information - Thank You !
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Thanks for the info. You see it. The shallow depth of field is looking great. Unsharb background, in front this iron made masterpiece. Stay healthy and allways a safe ride !
Wonderful review !!!!I own the 2020 Goldwing DCT Tour and love it !!!! Just love it!!! The only reason I did not order the GT is lack of storage and accessories due to its fresh bike on the market. I am sure, as the bike gets older, more and more stuff will be available. I need good/large side and top cases. This bike is the most beautiful machine I have ever seen. When I saw her in the showroom first time, I was magnetized to her. Its with no doubt an artwork. Triumph did a superb job. Now, we will have to see its reliability with this 3 cyl engine and clutch/transmission.

Thanks buddy 👍🏼
Just bought a gt pick it up next week
Awesome! Great bike!!
Very good and profesional review ! I really enjoy watching you guys and admire your commitment to test such a torque motorbike in low temperatures 👍 you must be very brave or extremely experienced riders 😀
Thanks very much! I guess we’ve got a bit of experience 😏
Just bought one.... Great review again
Great to hear! Awesome
Just ordered one after an awesome test ride day. Good review.
Great! 💯👍🏼
That is a great, great Bike. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Bob 👍🏼👍🏼🔥
It's an insane bike, the more I ride it the better it gets.
Love it,an all going well i will own one this year.2021.Beautiful looking Machine that ticks ALL the boxes as far as Im concerned.
Yes it’s awesome Jeffrey 👍🏼 good luck with the plan 💯
Loving the goatee mr darcy
Thanks bro!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan We got the same.
Might need tyres with a bit more tread. At 5’8” I’d opt for mids and a larger screen for winter.
Great to see you guys getting the attention you deserve 🤠 great work.
Thanks buddy 💯👍🏼
Agreed.. need more long wheelbase bikes. Not sure if K1600 is to your liking, but would enjoy seeing that review. 66 inch wheelbase and will still wheelie 😁
Thanks! Yes hopefully we can review that too asap 👍🏼
Great that you have a new video online. I missed it. ✌️
Thanks buddy 👍🏼
I think the rocket 3 is perfect bike for the ol man 😀
Yes we're starting to think that!
Yes we need to get on the XDiavel for sure. Thanks for your interesting comments 👍🏼
Yes good points there 💯👍🏼👍🏼
TRIK do a full rear fender-I have one on mine & it works!
You two complement each other perfectly. I really enjoy your channel. THX!
Thanks buddy!
Great review as per usual, as good as a HD breakout seating position
Thanks buddy. Yes very similar
The Breakout is about 3” lower than the R3 GT. I know, I own both. 😎
Great - but everyone watching this wanted to see you giving it big beans on a motorway!
Not everyone! It was 5 degrees, wet and dangerous so we couldn't do anything crazy
Haha yes. It’s a very good motorcycle 👍🏼👍🏼
Most beautiful bike, if you ask me.. but it is so scary. Nice review, thanks lads!
Great review, gentlemen. Still favoring the bagger Goldwing in that price and weight category.
Yes the Goldwing is a tremendous bike too!
I’ve had two recent gold wings and both model rockets. Comparing one to the other is like comparing butter with cheese. Different worlds.
@@tonys-travels-2023 Which do you prefer?
Triumph! Why are you not making a frame mounted touring version of this bike?
🙏
Old Man, you should have one of these, for sure! It really suits you, and it's an absolutely amazing motorcycle...
Yea they are great! I bought a BMW R 18 now, I don’t know if you saw our recent reveal?
@@MrDarcy-OlMan I did. Love the reveal, and the BMW. But, that Rocket III has your name on it :) At 63 and 5'7", the 2022 Goldline Speedmaster fits me perfectly, and it's a keeper. But when I grow up, I'll get a Rocket :)
excellent review - if it had a bigger/better pillion it would replace my K1600b for touring...
Thanks buddy. Yes 👍🏼
Excellent review of an impressive bike. I would definitely prefer it to be made in Britain instead of Thailand.
Thank you 🙏 yes s lot of people would agree with that 👍🏼
I'm waiting on delivery of a 22 GT Rocket and eagerly listen to a lot of reviews.
I picked up a 2022 GT 221 two months ago, you will not regret it, it’s an awesome ride!
Thank you for your channel
✌🏼👍🏻✌🏼👍🏻✌🏼👍🏻
Merci! We love France!
Hopefully your dream will come true 👍🏼👍🏼
Great review seems ages since i test rode the R version , the Triumph Dealer has since closed down sad times.
Oh dear! Hard times
Really looks a lovely bike and definitely looks good for taller people
It really is! Thanks for your comment!
On your videos, I’d like you show how easy it is to back the bikes up! And how it feels to move it around without the engine on!
This is another big bike needing a reverse gear.
Yes that’s a great idea. The R 18 has raised the bar 👍🏼
Santa in badass mode
Ho ho 👍🏼
Nice review. I've been looking into this bike for a year now. Gotta get one.
Thanks buddy. Definitely have a testride first 👍🏼
Enjoyed the review. I believe Triumph quote dry weights so that 294kg figure is likely to be more like 340 kg fully fueled etc.
Yes that’s true
@@MrDarcy-OlMan BTW I was initially distracted by those leather chaps and couldn’t get YMCA out of my head. Your wardrobe choice never disappoints. 🕺
@@jfro5867 We were on our way to a Village People audition 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan LOL that’s great. 👏👏🤝
Brave man in this weather
Yes it was wet, muddy and slippery!
Yes I think with bikes like this they take some understanding . They’re not the run of the mill and they have their place
The Ultimate Motorcycle. ♠️
Look out for our Rocket 3 GT Black Edition video coming soon! 😏
Great review and video / photography work
Thanks Ivor 💯👍🏼
I recall the new Honda Fireblade when it first came out as a 900cc did the 0 - 60 in 2.2 seconds in 1995
Maybe it's an American thing, but here, that exhaust would be considered as sounding bad. It honestly sounds like a powerful sewing machine. Exhaust would be the first thing I change.
Yes we have too many restrictive rules here!
That bike with a Werkes Competition exhaust. (Mwah!) Now you're talking!
A question beside: with what camera did you film this video ?
I am impressed by the composition: new bike in front of an old castle like elegant house.
Beautiful landscapes that sourround the subject presented.
Additionally of course perfect information - Thank You !
Thanks buddy. We use a Sony A7iii with a 24-70 f2.8 GM lens. 👍🏼👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Thanks for the info. You see it. The shallow depth of field is looking great. Unsharb background, in front this iron made masterpiece.
Stay healthy and allways a safe ride !
That’s a beautiful castle in the back ground. What is it’s name and how old is it. So much history in England un-like Australia.
Its a former Abbey called Launde Abbey
Thanks buddy! Yea it’s a fabulous bike. Interesting points there 💯😏
