I tried the Diavel and R3. The Diavel is a total hooligan. No question that the R3 is the utterly gorgeous, mental, completely rideable, extraordinary bike for the discerning gentleman. Ordered mine today.
I’d like to ride the Diavel but even if it was the better bike (people say it is) I’d still have the Rocket 3. I’m clearly a discerning gentleman like you Richard. I’m pretty jealous. Wish I had the money for a bike collection. 👍😁
@@motomogul The Ducati certainly isn't better, just very different. Like wrestling with an unruly stallion. Whatever flicks your switch. None of these bikes are commuters although you could on the R3. Pidcock Ducati are just up the road. They told me I could have the Diavel for 3 hours however I took it back after 25 minutes. Without a time limit on the R3 I might still be riding it.
I ride Pidcocks bikes, although I’ve been so busy this year I haven’t had time to do much. I don’t get revenue from UA-cam so rely on my day job which is being a demanding mf’er at the moment. Hoping Pidcocks will entertain me again. 🤞👍
I admit it irks me a little that the Diavel is quicker than my Rocket 3 GT, but I just don't like the looks of the Ducati as well. Plus, once my warranty is up I'll be looking around for a flash and a tune. There's got to be a lot more available in that huge engine than the factory allows. Do I need more power? Absolutely not. But do I still want it? I'm afraid so.....
Hi Jason, it’s not my bike, I borrowed it from Pidcocks in Nottingham. When I spoke to Ian, the manager of the Triumph dealership, he said that people do a lot of mix and match with bars etc between the two models to get the setup they want. I think you’d probably get a more relaxed riding position with GT bars on. 👍
I love motorcycle so subscribe your channel. I used to own HD ultra classic and Honda Goldwing DCT touring too. Now I am waiting for Rocket 3 GT in South Korea.
Hey, thanks for subscribing, you are my first from Korea. Bet you can’t wait for your new Rocket? 🤩👍 제 채널을 구독 해주셔서 감사합니다. 당신은 한국에서 처음입니다. 새 로켓을 기다릴 수 없겠습니까? 🤩👍
Had the GT for a year now (with the R pegs) - know exactly what you mean about the suspension! The factory setup is dire. Fortunately you can set it up a lot better and it transforms the ride
Thanks Roger, good to know from an owner. Such a pity about the factory set up as I’m sure it puts potential buyers off. Magnificent bike all the same.
I own one, just bought it, put 3k miles on it bringing it home from the store, west coast to TN. great trip. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Plan to do the four USA corners in a counter clock wise loop - FL, ME, WA, CA with her in the spring. Funniest thing so far... Having owned it for about 10 minutes, I thought, let's see what she can do. So I quickly twist the throttle and she does take off, well, like a rocket, so much so that as she pulls me aft, inadvertently twist the throttle even more, pushing me back even harder, thus even more throttle, more push... All the way to red line governor. Riders are NOT kidding when we say "you better hold on, because she will take off in an instant and assume the rider knows what he/she is doing". I am positive with some practice, I will get sub 3 second 0-60 times. Accelerate now, ask questions later, assuming you have held on!!
Nice review , enjoyed riding along with you. Would like to have seen you adjust the suspension and see if you could improve the harshness you were experiencing. Testing of the horn and its loudness would have been nice as well but over all well done.
Thanks Phillip, I only get the bikes for one ride so I tend to just try to get all the information I can into one take and yes, sometimes things do get missed. The horn, unfortunately, is the ‘Meep, Meep’, standard European sound. Weedy and not very effective.
Awesome that you got to try this one out, I tried to reply to your previous video, the AT review, unfortunately my tablet played up and my comment didn't post. Regarding linking to your phone, I have a FreedConn R1 comm system, does video, radio, links to pillion and six other riders and also your phone for music, maps etc, all for just over £100. I've just ordered an Insta360 one X2 and a Rode Go wireless mic, tired of bad sound ( wind noise) and trying to sinchronise multiple cameras.
Thanks Michael. I’ll have a look at that system although I use Packtalk Bold for music etc. It’s not that music a loss to be honest, just annoying that it’s so difficult to use. I do want a decent mic though, getting a lot of crackles and wind distortion at speed. Will check out the Rode mics, thanks for the tip. 👍
It depends. i rode more than 100 000 km in 5 years on my previous motorcycle. My friends laughed at me that I couldn't hear the bike, but none of them drove that much. and I wouldn't want to drive around the chimney or by car because of the roaring exhaust, because I can't stand it. And I also want to get along well with my neighbors and not annoy them every morning at seven o'clock. I am satisfied with this sound.
I like your jacket. I've got an R25 rucksask, too. I just need an R3 to go with it. I prefer the R to the GT, as I don't like my feet being too far forward. I'm an Englishman in Thailand. The roads are congested, the driving is dreadful, but I want a Rocket. I ride an SCR950, a KTM 390 and an Aerox 155, so I don't need one. But... Good review.
If you're going touring and you want your pillion in full comfort, hang a Watsonian GP700 off it. It could do with a much bigger screen and a bigger tank if you put a chair on, and it definitely needs mud flaps front and rear.
For the quickshifter to work proper flawless, the big girl needs some rotations and prefers a rather open throttle. That is my experience with it. Almost like a supersport!
I had the first 2004 bike, did 32K on it. My complaints were, the forward pegs kept on grounding out hard and 1.5G up the bum is not comfortable. While you are hanging on for dear life. For me the R looks more attractive.
Thanks bud. I did have a moan about the factory set suspension but owners have since told me that setting it up properly makes it the perfect ride. I bought the Africa twin at the end of last year and I can only afford to run one bike. 🙄
Try an experiment. See if that crackling happens every time or most of the time when you go under large power lines. While you were going under them, you mic was crackling. See if it does it again, in the future, while you go under those large electric power lines. Just a thought...
No, it’s not related to that. I thought it was ht leads on the bike but since changing my mic to a Røde Go, I don’t get the issue. I think it was just getting overwhelmed by noise.
Feeling after 5yrs of tigersport ownership let down with a seemingly no `sporty tourer news from triumph. So i've swoped for a bike I was gonna get in 2016 , "ay ` mv turismo veloce, and is a Lusso version ."
