- We are back into a bloodbath of new Capcom and Resident Evil releases. Fresh off the back of the PSVR2 update, RE4 gets the remake treatment. Thanks to an early demo ahead of release, I can dive into what this cross gen release offers. With dual modes on PRO and Xbox Series S and a single mode on PS4, just what does this mean for image quality, effects and performance. The Xbox One and X1X are not part of the package, here I look at what has been cut for last gen, how much better is the Series S and what is causing those Image Quality issues across all versions?

I really hope the add 30fps cap on base PS4. Unlocked fps doesnt make sense if the game hovers between 35-45 fps most of the time.

Fantastic analysis all around. Really good job. You're gonna catch some shit for calling the SS last gen, but ignore them. The PS4 Pro doesn't support VRR in any capacity. In your next comparison I'd love to see some PS4 Pro resolution mode footage running on a PS5.
I don’t know what VRR is but the Pro looks stunning and runs absolutely fine. Resolution mode graphics are nice and crisp. I’m still seeing no reason to own a next gen console yet.
The PS4 Pro demo in resolution mode on PS5 runs at a stable 60fps. It has some downgrades but image quality is still really good.

VRR is now the most important feature for the Xbots damage control.
From at least 30-40 fps performance leap over the ps5 and all this bs, we now came to the point where VRR matters so much because of the worse framerate on Series L console.

ive found the game extremely playable on ps4 pro on frame rate mode, im amazed at how well the pro has held up over the years, so many of the games on it run at 60fps or at least close to it
Dude I’m happy ps4 gamers can enjoy this game…if I ever play this it will be on my steam deck…and I have a ps4 as well and a laptop with a 3050. 😊
These are good comparisons to show exactly the strengths of the Series S. Usually it’s getting trounced by the Series X & PS5 but when compared to the last gen you get to see it in true form.

Because those two are the closer ones in specs and I’m sure the PS4 pro didn’t come out 8 years before the Series S.

From what I've tried on my laptop 3060, the game runs great aside from a few visual bugs relating to resolution and windows scaling. The game looks great too
The demo version don’t have denovo however the full game will so expect to take hit in performance
@@TechnologyandGaming602 Denuvo's performance hit is always small and tends to effect weaker hardware more. Whether or not it has denuvo won't change how well it performs a ton
Love everything about this remake! My only nitpick is the music, the original was much more scary and moody imo.
Original soundtrack option would fix that…& I hope it’s included just like in RE2MAKE!
@@KaylaHall-bb2zf yea I really hope so! I'll play RE4 R. Either way, I can't wait. I was blown away by the original RE4 on the Nintendo game cube way back in 2005 and I'm ready to get destroyed and blown away from the remake!
Thanks dude. I was starting to think that Capcom went Crazy doing the game run better or equal on PS4 Pro and Series S, with people around sating that Pro was 4K 30~ and 1080P60.

I hope you consider a "What hardware could be in a hypothetical PS5 Pro" video. I'm curious if Zen 4 is BC with Zen 2.
An option to lock at 30 fps would really be a godsend for these machines.

You know there’s a day one patch coming. I hope it ups the performance a little bit. However this is pretty much final code with the game only being days away.
I did notice a lot of walls flickering in and out of detail in my play through.
Great video :) It's a real shame about there being no Xbox One X version of this. I'm just wondering if this will happen with Series S and X this generation with later titles......
Shame about the no Xbox one x. Still an impressive piece of kit honestly but understandable since they would have to produce an Xbox one versions which might not be worth the headache and compromises.

Leon’s movements are surprisingly a bit better then 2 & 3 remakes imho plus it’s amazingly fitting for future speed runs! I play on the ps4 pro but fine with the technical limitations compared to other platforms! I’m just hyped to fire this game up!

PS4 is using 900CB? I'm starting to undertand why there's no One S version. RE3 was native 1080p on PS4 and 1080P reconstructed on Xbox.
I still don't fully understand the purpose of the Series S. It seems somewhat lacking/weak, and somewhat of a limitation on the developers in having to optimize for hardware that, in terms of specs, does not seem very next/current gen.
I'm still impressed with how good the rippled water effect looks on the PS4 2:32 which you don't get on current gen machines lol. I played the PS4 demo on my PS5, and was more than impressed overall. Steadier FPS, and no stutters, the same can't be said for the PS5, unless you go into the settings and muck around a bit. As far as the SS, meh. Also my Series X, meh meh.
I played the ps4/ps5/sx demos and x looks best but plays the worst, ps plays wayyy better and on top of that to me the ps4 version(played on ps5) seems to be the best to me as far as framerate, tightest and most fluid controls, and cleaner image despite everything being a little lower texture quality.

Very good video it is a pleasure to see a quality analysis there is a lot of misinformation, xbox series s works very well and the resolution and graphic quality is of a high quality and in another analysis that I saw it said that xbox series s worked to 900p 60 fps what a clown even xbox series s has higher resolution than ps4 pro in any mode.

The game looks and plays good but mechanically its kinda broken from what ive played in the demo
I haven't upgraded to next generation. I have a PS4. I'd be quite happy with how this game looks and performs on that. Not bad for tech that's older than 10 years. I personally won't upgrade to another console because none of them have the games I want to play. I'm going to PC. I was supposed to do that at the same time the PS4 was released. I didn't and ended up on the sidelines watching UA-cam videos of PC games and thinking I'm really missing out. I used to get so jealous watching co-op games of people on PC playing horror games and having an absolute blast, getting scared, screaming, and then laughing their asses off. Not happening this time. I'm getting a PC strictly to game on. Rising Storm 2 looks amazing. And games like that are a big reason I want to go to that platform. Good video Michael. You are excellent at your job. 10/10 👍👍

Nice to see the series s performing so well. At least in the performance mode. No more ray tracing and 120fps option though from re2/3 remakes. Should still be a good time.

This is a conspiracy, Sony bribed everyone. The Xbox Series S is a 120 fps machine, as powerful as the PS5, as they said on Twitter. This is the sabotage of all game developers. Full RDNA 2 with Mesh Shader's should give a performance boost equal to two GPUs. That's what they said on Twitter.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It's a 120 fps machine maybe if you're target 360/480p resolution in older titles
Why is Capcom still leaving the framerate unlocked in base ps4? 900p with 40ish fps makes no sense. They could just cap the damn game at 30 and crank up the resolution a bit more. Both RE2 and 3 felt horrible because of the fps variation.

Fsr2 on last gen machine!! I think its the first title to use it.
However, they should have utulize it globally with dynamic resolution and proper fps caps:
Xbox one/S 540-720p fsr2 reconstructed to 900p with 30 fps lock
Xbox one X 1260-1440p fsr2 reconstructed to 1800p/4k with 30 fps lock or 900-1080p fsr2 reconstructed to 1260/1440p performance mode
PS4 should be 720-900p fsr2 reconstructed to 1080p with 30 fps lock
Ps4 pro 1080-1260p fsr2 reconstructed to 1440p with 30 fps cap or 720-900p reconstructed to 1080p in performance
Series S should go with Quality+RT aiming 30fps with FSR2 720-900 reconstructing to 1080p
Or Quality without RT with 1080-1260 reconstructing via fsr2 to 1440p in 30 fps
Or performance 720-900 up to 1080p with fsr2
Ps5 and Series X i skip since they would target mostly 4k60

It did, it came all over the Series S and made it look pretty shitty here lol. I played the PS4 Dem on PS5, looks fantastic, also look at the water on both PS4 versions at 2:32. It doesn't just look like some toxic frozen waste.
Why focus on last gen when all we care about is current gen vs PC?!!

A lot of the textures on the PS4 version are unacceptably bad. Sure you expect it to not look as good as the PS5 version, but they still shouldn't be as terrible as this
