I've never cried in a movie before. not because I think I'm too tough but because I've never come to a point where I've just lost my emotions. I cried tonight as I watched the end slides how of the lost soldiers and their families, and I know that my words mean nothing compared to anyone involved in this movie, but from myself and everyone else in the theatre tonight, thank you for slightly opening our eyes to what you go through everyday. I'm praying for you, Marcus. I'm praying for your family/ marriage, and I'm praying for the loved ones of the ones you loved and lost. You're humbleness will always blind you from the acknowledgment of your HEROIC actions.
I just watched this film with my girlfriend and my 13 year old son. I have to tell you, it is the best movie I have ever seen in my 49 years of life. This movie has to be an Oscar winner next year for Best Movie, Best everything!. Marcus Luttrell is America's hero. I have been watching many interviews with him and is painful to see the pain in his words, his eyes, his memory. But at the same time, I am glad he's alive, that he survived to be able to tell the story of his men that perished that day in Afghanistan. God bless his wife, his family, his men and their family.
Saw this amazing story/movie a few hours ago. Don't wait for it on DVD, it will make the strongest of men tear in the theater. Thank you to all Men in Uniform.
I hope you know that this movie doesn't only honor vets and our military. I've seen twice so far and have taken different people. I see people who have experienced this story really starting to reevaluate their lives. 8 hours at your miserable job doesn't seem so bad anymore, or whatever. I wish I had a time machine so I could go backto 2005 and say don't go this time. I doubt it would have stopped you though. Thank you for sharing this story Marcus.
I Loved the book. I own the hardcover and the audible version. The movie is very loosely based on the book in my opinion. Much respect to Marcus and all the great men who take it to the limits everyday.
The states has destroyed my nation and killed my uncle and grandfather, but this movie was a non-bias production and focusses on the bravery and comradery of the men all my family has watched it and teared for Marcus. I think the condition that Marcus was in every human being would have helped him. Taliban are animals that are supported by Saudi Arabia they kill rape and burn people alive all in the name of religion, besides United States are the ones that created them and now pretend to be helping Afghanistan. American people are beautiful but your government is the enemy of humanity, rise up and free yourself and the world of this great evil.
Not intending any disrespect but, there's a huge benefit of being a "Lone Survivor" other than being alive. A person has the ability to tell the story any way they want without anyone around to dispute it. This particular story is making Mr.Luttrell a very wealthy man.
Fascinating how he gets a free-pass to act insane by threatening the filmmakers. I get it, PTSD. It was likely just bluster and emotion, but I can't stand how these people just cow tow to it, because these types of guys actually have killed people in this fashion. Luttrel says he goes over to kills bad guys to preserve a way of life, yet the way of life in America is the right to fail and keep on trying, yet he would act like a brutal tyrant and reward failure with death? Own up to it.
It's not everyday you get to meet a hero. Marcus is no doubt a hero
You can just tell by looking at Marcus, he doesn't like talking about it...
