Absolutely! And for God’s sake, can we get lifelong medical assistance and insurance for vets? The work they do for us shouldn’t require them to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that whatever maladies they may come back with were caused from being deployed or from their time serving. It’s shameful, the things we have put many of them through. How did we not learn anything from Vietnam about veterans (I could go further and say “how did we not learn to also only go to war as an absolute last-resort”). The amount of funding the military receives should make it very easy to give them all the help they need (mental and physical). The “burn pit” thing irritates me too, because they could have basically made landfills but that costs a little more, and the decision makers apparently would rather have spent that “extra” money on finding and eliminating enemies… and how did that work out? The Romans had the best military industrial complex for their time because they basically were able to erect and then move an entire town that was used as their base when on deployment, so we would do well to be sure everything is in order and properly done before ever going out into the field. If we can’t even dispose of our garbage without poisoning the air, the ground, and by extension any ground water in the area, we have no business exposing our military personnel. It’s fucking sickening.
That interview Rocked. Luttrell comes across with great charisma something about that guy, I'm in awe of him in the same way I was of Chris Kyle. Kyle is with God and I hope I see him someday...
Both Luttrell and Kyle made up stories or embellished them for personal gain and fame. The difference between the two is that Luttrell abandon the man that saved his life. So much for being "Silent Professionals". Birds of a feather flock together.
Stacey E, you fucking idiot why don't you walk up to a Navy Seal and say that big man. Your a big mouth liberal BLM supporter whose been sucking his thumb while we Vets have skin in the game. So shut your fucking mouth!
No, they were directed at Stacy E the Canadian Marcus hating lying fucking bitch!!! She's on every single post about an American hero bashing him and calling him a liar. I was in the military 23 years and I know for a fact After Action Reports have to be filled out by the warriors as well as their superior officers about every single battle and contact with the enemy. Any shot taken has to be accounted for! She said they found no dead Taliban soldiers on top of the mountain Marcus and his fallen brothers had the 3 1/2 hour battle with? Of course, they drug off their fallen to bury just like we don't leave any man behind! If you read her replies she doesn't even live in our country! Ignore the cunt!!!
Part of one comment from Peter Berg momentarily stunned me: "..cultivate concepts that seem so foreign to us like patriotism...."Huh?? Who did he mean by "us"? Patriotism is certainly not a foreign concept to the vast majority of Americans. On the contrary, it is a clear understanding & profound appreciation for our unique and precious American inheritance of individual liberty & freedom. I think he misspoke. This was a powerfully moving film. Thanks and God's blessing to all members, living & deceased, of our mighty armed forces.
For the people complaining that some of the parts from the book and other things were changed etc. it's because the gunfight on the mountain alone was about three hours long is what marcus said and he was out there for about 5-6 days and a lot happened to him that one week i saw an interview where he said that he even left some stuff out of the book due to classification reasons and the book goes into great detail about that day as well as other missions that they four had done before operation redwings so to try and cram all that into a movie would be super expensive and the movie would probably end up being over four hours and yeah there were parts in the movie that didn't happen but it was still an awesome movie and i think it still does a good job of telling their story.
According to the villagers who could hear the gun fire, the fight was short lived. Marcus was protected by those villagers, and he abandon the man that saved him and doesn't even speak of him anymore. He said there were 80-200 taliban, which is a far cry from 8-10. He said he crawled 7 miles when it's around 1 mile from the observation point to the village. It is definitely a Hollywood story, both the book and the movie.
You're going to believe a bunch of villagers over one of our own? Not to say those villagers arent good people, but how would they know how many taliban were up there? I'm sure it wasn't just one huge gunfight either. They fell off cliffs, got into gunfight. There would be a pause and then another gunfight...so on and so forth. After what these guys went through I'm sure memories are foggy. Talk about traumatizing!
Replying to cricket chirp: also, a “gunfight” isn’t only when there are rounds being fired. Some of it entails moving positions, gathering intel if possible, trying to assess the situation and developing plans, etc (when possible), so even if the villagers only heard sporadic gunfire, that doesn’t mean shit. They could still both be engaged if there aren’t rounds being fired constantly. Especially in terms of Marcus, who was undoubtedly trying to conserve ammunition in case he was stuck there for a long time. I’m not saying every single thing was perfectly accurate in the movie (it is a movie) but I’m not going to believe some bystander that happens to be adjacent to the event(s) who may or may not know anything about military tactics over someone whose story has been verified as true for like 95% of it (not all things CAN be verified). If he was lying or embellishing much, they would have probably been able to prove it based on other details he provided.
Was in the Airborne served 3 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and yea Ive seen some terrible stuff as well and I being from Texas like Mr. Luttrell makes my chest pushed out just a little bit further with pride. Both Chris Kyle and Marcus Luttrell being from Texas tells you a little something about Texans. This movie was done right and showed what its like out there and unfortunately what its like to lose your friends and to go through being left alone like that and back broken I think I would have broken way before Mr. Luttrell. God Bless Texas.
I bet Marcus wakes up from his sleep like Wolverine from X-men. I feel sorry for any soul getting out of the shower at his house with a towel around their heads.... its game on.
Being a frontline soldier for over 20 years every military themed movie I watch I look at is a real situation that I had been in. This movie is by far the most realistic movie I have ever seen and for the team of SEALs to put their true story pays a massive tribute to all those soldiers that lose their lives fighting for our country. My thoughts and prayers go out to the team and every man and woman that have payed the ultimate sacrifice for our country RIP
I watched the the movie and and this interview and the making of the lone survivor. He is a hero and the pashtun people that saved him and wanted to bring the father and son which he did . Barry shulman.
I've never cried in a movie before. not because I think I'm too tough but because I've never come to a point where I've just lost my emotions. I cried tonight as I watched the end slide show of the lost soldiers and their families, and I know that my words mean nothing compared to anyone involved in this movie, but from myself and everyone else in the theatre tonight, thank you for slightly opening our eyes to what you go through everyday. I'm praying for you, Marcus. I'm praying for your family/ marriage, and I'm praying for the loved ones of the ones you loved and lost, in Jesus' name. You're humbleness will always blind you from the acknowledgment of your HEROIC actions. God bless you Mr. Luttrell; you're a blessing to our nation. -Tyler Ledbetter
Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg in the room and Marcus Luttrell is still the most entertaining one. Salute to you Mr Luttrell and all those who were lost on that mountain!
How does he ask THE ACTORS how training affects them in dangerous situations?????? Ask Marcus those questions. Am I missing something? Are we still on earf?
This is an excellent, very well-made & well-translated movie. I saw it 3x. Thanks Marcus Latrell for all you've done for our Country--& for Berg, Walberg, & ALL the guys for making this story realistic. THANK YOU, MARCUS FOR YOUR SERVICE!!
R.I.P to all his brothers who died and fought by his side and wot a true survivor Marcus is. Wot he went through then to go back and fight you are a true legend
Finally got to see the movie and also read up on the story - the compassion that the men showed by following their rules of engagement and allowing non combatants to go free and this finally leading to their deaths was worthy of everyone's respect. The fire fight that followed and the way the men fought for each other brought a tear to me eye, such an amazing story and well done to all those involved in telling the story...
andrew makatsaria agreed, it annoys me when people say that its just a propaganda movie for stupid americans, and those people couldn't be soooo wrong!
Frasier Bell I think if it were a propaganda movie, the four seals would have killed all the Taliban, and Marcus' Afghani friend would not have been represented in the film at all. Whenever someone says it's a propaganda film I just say to them "Yes, join the SEALs, get tied up in a political correct and moral debate with your friends and yourself, watch your best friends die, get shot repeatedly! SOUNDS LIKE FUN, RIGHT?" Some people are just stupid.
okay i am going to tell you what i was thinking:i just loved this movie after i saw it and wanted to see the interviews of how it was made, when i posted that comment i wasn't expecting thee people to react that way,i didn't want to touch on propaganda or some other bullshit, the movie just made feel what those characters felt on that mountain, and the fact that only marcus survived, and had to live with the loss of his friends and terrible pain, that is not a propaganda movie no,propaganda is what you said right there,so just enjoy the movie as it is .
I am a US Marine and I have seen some crazy shit myself, not talk about it much, but if you see me and talk to me you would have a great time, I am happy and love to party, it must be the Marine training since we really do not give a flying fuck about anything...
Ben Foster is such a phenomenal actor and I don’t think he’s done a bad roll. There are some better than others but he always seems to steal the spotlight any time he ends up on screen.
I've watched many of these interviews with Marcus Luttrell and this interviewer by far is the best and most respectful. He did the best job I've seen over other interviewers asking the stupidest and most insensitive questions.
God bless every seal, army person, and great servicemen. There is a special place among our hearts and spciety amd definitly heaven for these extraordinary men and women who show us anything is possible even at our worst or best.
I spent 23 yrs in the US Army. The dislikes are because its a lousy interview for such an awsome situation. The moderator needs to learn how to interview and ask the right questions. You only get one shot and he didn't do a very good job.
I just saw the movie today. I liked the movie like most people. Sadly, 3 hours is really not enough to tell their story. An HBO 5-episode series would have been better . But, that's just how the Hollywood business goes.
After watching the movie I thought about the 3 options presented on the mountain. I was left wondering why one of the options wasn't "let's keep the civilians with us" (walk up the mountain together) until the seals were extracted? And then and only then let them go. I think things might have had a much better outcome for everyone?
Well when the herders (or whatever) were “caught”, if they didn’t return in a reasonable amount of time, it’s likely to assume that someone would have notified the enemies that people were missing, and where they were likely to have been when abducted/possibly killed, which means enemies would have gone looking for them, most likely. It’s the same kinda reason why they couldn’t just kill them (although killing them is also terribly dishonorable, but it also didn’t even provide a reasonable solution had they killed them). The only real chance they had once the shepherds saw them was to hope they didn’t tell the enemies. Either way, once they were seen, there was a clock that started ticking and time was not on their side, regardless of what they did about it (short of having a Men in Black memory zapper).
sorry but at 11:30 when he's talking about the seals calling bs on anything they didn't think was right.....where were they when Axe pulled out a Beretta M9 and not a Sig P226?
He ran. Watch the actual ambush video. You can hear the other SEALs yelling at Marcus to "come back!" and " help Marcus, help!" Its a pretty disturbing video. He was also found with all his magazines still full of ammo that he came with. He lied about claiming Axelson was alive for two week in which he later apologized and said he "misspoke" - you can't "misspoke" about something like that. Im a veteran myself and IMO - there is nothing wrong for people to question "what really happened". All we want is the truth and Marcus has lied on so many accounts including the number of fighters they were up against - which was only 8 and not 100. He didnt have a broken back or pelvis - another lie. He was found with one gunshot wound to the butt - probably because he was running away. The rangers questioned him and were infuriated that he had no idea as far as geography and landscape when it comes to last seeing his teammates. He didnt even know his own patrol route. The ambush video itself is the actual source for the truth on what happened. The movie and book are nothing more than exaggerations and war propaganda. Truth is, it was a terrible mission that every SOF in that area turned down. It wasn't even taliban. Shah was a rich warlord - thats it. They tracked the SEALs down because the HELOs woke everyone up in the village that night and the militia found the fast rope that was dropped from the HELO itself early the next morning - HUGE MISTAKE! They tracked their footprints and already spotted them while talking with the goat herders. They waited until after the herders left and thats when they attacked - it was within minutes after letting them go. The ambush lasted about 45 mins but it was the first minute that hit them the hardest with it being Murphy and Dietz mortally wounded and struggling to fight. The fighters were even yelling at them in english and trying to get them to surrender. Just a totally bad OP with high risk and little reward. Fact is that Luttrell is now a millionaire off of his fictional accounts and his buddies are dead. Him becoming a millionaire off the backs of his fallen brothers is disgraceful. Forget the movie and the book. If you wanna know what really happened, just watch the video and read Victory Point. It goes through the failures of planning and the AARs that followed suit. Its an eye opener to what really happened and there is no bias narrative.

Did you notice the PTSD dog (Lab?) with Marcus? Was this the same dog that was shot and killed by some low life trespassers on his Texas property? A good friend of mine has had a great ptsd k9 since the Beirut Bombing. Those dogs and the service they provide are over the top awesome!
the worst thing is that he was the one that made the call to not kill the 3 guys on the mountain. I respect him for his decision, but it resulted in the death of his friends.
Hindsight is always 20/20. I love it when people analyze events they were not present for. The only people that could ever have a say in what should have been done with those goat herds are the four men that where there. That's really the point isn't it? War is messy, its hard, and some times decisions have to been made on the spot. How do you weigh human life? How do you live with the choices you make? This is what people in the military are there for. Every one else needs to just stay the hell out of it. I could not tell you what I would have done. I was not there.
It wasnt Mr. Luttrell who made the decision, he tells in interviews that while they where discussing it the LT made the decision. But you have to remember this was also when and even still today, the Left Wing and the rest of the World is saying "look at these Americans killing innocent people left and right" and soldiers where being prosecuted for it. So if they had of executed them they would have been brought up on charges.
I figure I have to see the movie to hear and learn the story of operation red wings and appreciate then uncommon valor which in the military is set as the standard.
Also letting people know any real active seals in a movie, the SEALS command SOCOM has the last word on the footage which exposes and real seals in a movie like the Movie Act of valor and also all war based movies either on truth or otherwise the pentagon has the last word on what happens and how much truth can be shown before the release of that movie ?
They keep talking about 'wanting to do the real story justice,' but the ending is completely made up. There wasn't any big battle in the village. The main Taliban bad guy didn't get killed by Luttrell's rescuer, and the little kid didn't hand Luttrel a knife at the last second to kill his attacker. It just bugs me, because this is such an important event and now the public is going to remember things wrong. No clue why the filmmakers didn't just tell it like it happened.
well that's hollywood. Marcus even admits that most of what happened in the movie after he got rescued is highly exaggerated. when you think about it, the battle in the village is more of a dramatic representation of what they have to go through and what they've been going through ever since they decided to protect Marcus.
Shooter McGavin Yeah, I guess so. Though I think they could've told it like it happened and still made it dramatic enough for a movie. Anyway, it's good they got the details of the real battle mostly right. Really does capture the bravery, toughness, and sacrifice of the SEALs..
To make the point clear, if any relatives in the airlines that your are related to> they will be receiving termination of payouts so you may further enjoy your understanding of TEAM MATE
I wonder why minor details were changed, such as which fingers on Dietz's hand were shot off... His thumb was shot off, why change it to his ring and little finger? Not complaining, just curious why. If I were telling the story, I'd want to get as many details right as possible to adapt to film. Also, 37 Taliban disliked this video.
Of course, and maybe in the heat of battle, it's hard to remember exact details about everything. The mind starts to play tricks and before you know it, you can remember something one way when it happened somewhat differently. I have seen video of a dead Danny Dietz, and his right thumb was clearly not blown off, and appeared to be totally intact. I wasn't able to get a good look at his left hand to determine if that thumb was there or not, so it's possible that Marcus remembered that wrong. But, there is an example of him perhaps not remembering things exactly 100% accurately.
My son served in Afghanistan. Australian Army, he has had the " 1000 yard stare " years after serving. My respect for Marcus is boundless.
I can't imagine all the things marcus goes through everyday after that mission.. Hell be in my prayers

Loved how Marcus Luttrell Says Yes sir at the beginning :)
Thats how we Texans are raised, its normal here.
I wanted this "Interview" to never end!
Sad to see Marcus only got a few questions... He's the reason they're sitting there, basically. And the one who can answer most questions.
I bet Marcus wakes up from his sleep like Wolverine from X-men. I feel sorry for any soul getting out of the shower at his house with a towel around their heads.... its game on.
LOL
I would be afraid to say wrong thing in front of Marcus. He is super cool and a real deal though.
Fantastic interview. I've never enjoyed one more. Thank you all for making this film. Especially the Pashtunwali part.
I love Peter Berg .... sweet and sensible, very smart and creative man
Being a frontline soldier for over 20 years every military themed movie I watch I look at is a real situation that I had been in.
Marcus and his Brother Morgan epitomize Integrity Valor and Service. I love our Armed Forces. I'm a Vet myself I get it.
Well said, they both knew from the womb they were going to be special ops! They just dod
😅
🤣
You are correct. It's dumb thinking. The soldiers matter - not the actors !
Mark Wahlberg did an excellent performance of Marcus Luttrell :)
these guys are blowhards while the true bad-ass that inspired all of this looks bored out of his mind. classic
Well, yeah...one is a Navy SEAL and the others...aren't.
Sounds like you got some experience in the hard blowing department.
It has bin a very long time since I listen to this I watch the movie again the other day 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
God bless you, Marcus, and god bless Texas
R.I.P to all his brothers who died and fought by his side and wot a true survivor Marcus is. Wot he went through then to go back and fight you are a true legend
Love these guys
I have to go see this movie!
It would be nice if thy let Marcus Luttrrell speak morenandnactually hear more of his first
Person account
Read the book
Finally got to see the movie and also read up on the story - the compassion that the men showed by following their rules of engagement and allowing non combatants to go free and this finally leading to their deaths was worthy of everyone's respect. The fire fight that followed and the way the men fought for each other brought a tear to me eye, such an amazing story and well done to all those involved in telling the story...
I recommend you read a little more, and ask yourself why Marcus abandon the man that saved his life.
you can tell that marcus has seen some shit
absolutely,he is the lone survivor after all and this movie does a respectful job of portaying that.
andrew makatsaria agreed, it annoys me when people say that its just a propaganda movie for stupid americans, and those people couldn't be soooo wrong!
Where is Ben Foster? To me his moments make this film
I totally agree.
diodeladder New favorite actor
Ben Foster is amazing, but a little on the peculiar side. He doesn't like interviews.
WickedMo13
Absolutely..!
I Am The Reaper... Still gives me goosebumps.
Ben Foster is such a phenomenal actor and I don’t think he’s done a bad roll. There are some better than others but he always seems to steal the spotlight any time he ends up on screen.
Mark wahlberg is pretty awesome
mark DID AN EXCELLENT JOB
I've watched many of these interviews with Marcus Luttrell and this interviewer by far is the best and most respectful. He did the best job I've seen over other interviewers asking the stupidest and most insensitive questions.
God bless every seal, army person, and great servicemen. There is a special place among our hearts and spciety amd definitly heaven for these extraordinary men and women who show us anything is possible even at our worst or best.
Cant wait to see the movie...
My two favorite Army movies I guess you would say has to be Lone Survivor and American Sniper. Also I just watched Lone Survivor
At least Mark Wahlberg admits he isn't the same as Marcus.
How the hell are there 8 dislikes!?
taliban? and they couldn't watch it on tv? why? because of the "telly ban:
DannyArcher1983
LOL, nicely done...
Love it Danny!!
I spent 23 yrs in the US Army. The dislikes are because its a lousy interview for such an awsome situation. The moderator needs to learn how to interview and ask the right questions. You only get one shot and he didn't do a very good job.
*****
I'm a Liberal and I respect this man so FUCK YOU!
I just saw the movie today.
I liked the movie like most people.
Sadly, 3 hours is really not enough to tell their story.
An HBO 5-episode series would have been better .
But, that's just how the Hollywood business goes.
Marcus is a big dude.
6'5" 275 pounds!
Most seals are bud.
It was nice to see Marcus smile a little.
this seems like a movie that should have came out on july 4th
Yea then the Left would be screaming louder then they already are that its a propaganda film. The Left will be the ruin of this country.
Great film, glad at least one of them lived to tell the tale.
well done...open .. can not imagine
And didn't notice till I watched it second time round that I noticed Marcus lol what a guy!
Still can't watch Murphy, Dietz and Axleson die.. have yet to watch that part! Years later... still can't!
1 of my favourite films of all time
SirgalaED you gotta read no easy day
Really really good movie
Great group of guys speaking.
Bravo Marc 👏👍🏆 and so much respect Marcus 🙏❤
Lutrell big guy!
We need to start go fund me to get them more microphones.
Marcus looks like he's a very humble man who rather listen than speak..
"the STAR Mark Whalberg. And the man who's life this was based on, Marcus Luttrell." -________- lame intro bro
OUCH
Go make me a sandwich 🥪
Great intense movie!! Very inspirational!
THANK YOU MARK FOR LETTING MARUS BE REAL!!!
I loved battleship.. especially the WW2 vets that played themselves ❤❤❤😊
I second Bergs statement about Foster being the next DDL
20:40-20:47, I find this moment kind of weird.
I feel like he was not kidding.
Yeap!
Lol. I find it funny.
Love Marcus..héroe..👍👍😘😘💖💝👌😍🇨🇱💞🇨🇱💕🇨🇱😘😘😍
Great stuff.
sorry but at 11:30 when he's talking about the seals calling bs on anything they didn't think was right.....where were they when Axe pulled out a Beretta M9 and not a Sig P226?
Fair question. It's possible that Axe personally preferred the M9. Marcus would know that...he may have relayed it to Pete.
Fellow Human they all head M9's in the movie. In the book he specifically says they all carried P226's
+Kevin Doherty That's true. Hm.
Because Beretta payed them to use their firearms. Marcus obviously was okay with it
All seals carry sauers...
I hate it when people say that Marcus is a liar!! And it didn't really happen like he said, Marcus is a hero, R.I.P to his brother's 🙏🙏🙏🙏
He ran.
Watch the actual ambush video. You can hear the other SEALs yelling at Marcus to "come back!" and " help Marcus, help!"
Its a pretty disturbing video.
@@sc12100 got a source for any of this bullshit? I've seen the videos and you can't hear anyone yelling anything.

My best movie
That's what I love about mark. Love real life movies . He's a genious
i only just realised after watching it again marcus was in it
Mesut Ozil where at??
He actually died in the movie as well
Did you notice the PTSD dog (Lab?) with Marcus? Was this the same dog that was shot and killed by some low life trespassers on his Texas property? A good friend of mine has had a great ptsd k9 since the Beirut Bombing. Those dogs and the service they provide are over the top awesome!
mark: *does a texas accent* pete: so...theres that
the worst thing is that he was the one that made the call to not kill the 3 guys on the mountain.
The Taliban would have come looking for them either way . If the goat herders don't come home they still get hunted.
Poor dasy
I figure I have to see the movie to hear and learn the story of operation red wings and appreciate then uncommon valor which in the military is set as the standard.
Also letting people know any real active seals in a movie, the SEALS command SOCOM has the last word on the footage which exposes and real seals in a movie like the Movie Act of valor and also all war based movies either on truth or otherwise the pentagon has the last word on what happens and how much truth can be shown before the release of that movie ?
iv been a fan since i seen the movie italian job
Boogie Nights and The Fighter kick ass by the way
They keep talking about 'wanting to do the real story justice,' but the ending is completely made up.
No clue why the filmmakers didn't just tell it like it happened.
evilwoooooooooooood!
well that's hollywood.
How many Taliban soldiers did Marcus and his team really killed?
Dave S The Taliban leader they where after eventually was killed and the Cousin of the Afghani who rescued Mr. Luttrell was murdered for helping.
great movie
Hey I seen two of them from this one hbo show 🤔
I love to watch that fuckin movie. and Marky u did a good fuckin actin man. U guys really were.x
Also, 37 Taliban disliked this video.
i still got doubt what truly happened with marcus & his team..only god knows what was really happened..

Yeah why believe the people who were there when there's google and youtube right? Fucking twat.
We have to give are us military and navy red seals for thier courage going on missions and pray for them .Barry Shulman
why smile????????
