Another great show. The SEAL in this episode was one of the instructors in a series on Discovery channel called The Selection aired about about 6 - 7 yrs ago

Nobody has ever noticed or commented on this before about his interviews.....................
Some new information just came out courtesy of the Antihero podcast. Apparently theres a drone feed of Marcus running away the whole time. When they found Matthew's body it looked like he had only been gone 1 or 2 days. This was 8 days after the fight. There was knowledge that SA-7 heat seeking missiles were in the area and thats likely what hit the helicopter. Very interesting stuff revealed by a former Seal.
Honestly I’ve alway had doubts about Marcus something never seemed right but neither does any Hollywood story around military and spying topics but if axle was alive on that mountain when Marcus was hiding in that hut he needs to be brought up and tried for desertion especially given his role in slowing down rescue operations saying everyone was dead (and yes I know the full penalty that a deserter can face when charged with it in a war zone) he admitted to deserting on national tv when he said he heard Murphy calling for him and he bolted
Luttrell was forced into the decision to save face on seals and the motto. Never leave a man behind. He ran while his buddies called for help. Nobody can tell you how it feels to go through what they do. But they shouldn't glorify that. But learn from it. Learn from the failures that day. The sa7 really gets me...
The whole “tip of the spear” status is disintegrating before our very eyes. So much coverup, so much lying, so much spin, so many book deals, and screenplays and speaking engagements … can’t the military force these guys to sign a contract stating they will keep their mouths’ shut?
I Served from 1983-89 and back then there were Non-Disclosures. If you spoke of anything you did publicly, you could be disavowed or worse. I wasn't with the Teams, but I was in a Rate that encountered them regularly.
I would love to see an interview of Matt Axleson’s older brother. Would love to hear what he was going through at the time of Redwings. It was three days after Matt’s birthday the day Matt died.
My old CSM and 1SG were there part of 160th. The chinook that went down, my CSM at the very least [never spoke to my former 1SG about it] knew everyone by name on that aircraft. One of the saddest days for SOAR and America when this happened.
I still find it amazing that nobody mentions MAJ Steve Reich of the 160th. He was one of my LTs and not mentioned in the movie and the vast majority of discussions on this mission. Look him up. Great guy, pitcher, soldier.
Great interview, seeing that you guys do in fact still have normal human emotions is always a plus. Imo seeing the guest operator(s) name in the header or description would be helpful for us viewers.
I remember asking a dev guy I took a class from what was the truth about RW He said those dudes were advised by a tier one command it’s not a good op and that they shouldn’t go. They decided to go anyway. And there are sops in order so you don’t have to take a vote. And leaving a rope cut from the chopper by the crew was mission compromised from the get go. But they kept going anyway. Anything else you’d have to get from Marcus…that’s what he told me
Damn right whole thing is a big farce man. The actual book was written while Marcus was actively deployed. So many lies, so much propaganda. Blaming innocent goat herders for costly mistakes that SEALs made. Begging to be able to commit war crimes
Seems like they got dumpstered by about 8 tali and then made up a load of bullshit about a protracted firefight, the timings of communications just doesn't make sense otherwise.
@@JackHGUKyeah I don’t blame Marcus for running, he was fresh into gunfights, I believe he said it was his first one. I’m mad about the fact he lied to save his dignity, and lied to the families
@@Khvg-e4lI do if axel died because he deserted his team then lied about everyone being dead on the hill behind him he deserves to be brought up for deserting in a war zone especially if there’s a predator feed of it the admin on national tv is one thing hard evidence is another
The coin toss reminds me of the 1959 WDP involving musicians Tommy Allsup and Ritchie Valens on who was gonna fly to the next gig instead of taking the bus.
Why don’t you tell it since you seem to have the full 411 on it. Sounds like you’re implying that either Marcus Capone or Marcus Luttrell are cowards. So, which is it?
Watched a good documentary, called '' The Lone survivor, the real story''. Luttrell set his Lawyers onto Gulab because he dared to question the honesty of Luttrells Hollywood story.
Unless you were there, I would hold up questioning anything or believing anything not told by the ONLY PERSON ALIVE THAT WAS THERE. There’s tons of jealous mofo’s that talk about this on podcasts even today all these years later that nit pick every detail the only peoblwm is they WERE NOT THERE!
@jeremyfortune7274 the thing is, Marcus said (it's on video) he threw his weapon down and ditched his buddies, he's a coward. The other guy Gulab scoffs at the books claims...it's clear what happened. They got spanked by the Taliban, and the USA couldn't let the truth out. I'd have more respect for Marcus if he just owned it instead of lying. I don't believe a word out of the mans mouth. Its clear that the SEAL teams are not even on par with British Para or Royal Marine Commandos. Maybe SEAL team 6, bit other than that. Total BS
@@jeremyfortune7274 Precisely. Seems like a lot jealous warriors who couldn’t cut BUD/S and become SEALS and instead start these asinine rumors that serve only to besmirch the reputation of a true warrior. When you ask them to provide proof to back up their assertions all you get are crickets.
You guys are the closest thing we have to Super Men, what you do is a big reason we still speak English on American soil. My great uncle Karlon is one of the men standing the flag up on Iwo Jima, I’m also a Navy brat born on Great Lakes Naval base, raised in Texas. So I know a little bit about what our great men and women leave out there for us, Love you guys and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
The many brave men who landed in Normandy on June 6 of 1944 plus the millions of Russians on the east flank are the main reason we're not speaking German. Unfortunately the history books in America ignore the valiant effort of the Russians.
The fact that Marcus was able to like be up and actually talk about things is mindblowing. He was injured like really really bad. Having that brotherhood helps
Iv seen lone survivor. Buy I'm sure it was much worse in real life. The taliban really let those seals have it that day. Marcus's brother Morgan actually is in congress and he is a big proponent for border funding and security. And he's also for designating Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations
I went through that same phase as infantryman, where something really shitty happened during deployment and I had to realize that I'm not invulnerable and that really bad things can happen.
Hello Shawn, I remember finding your channel many years ago when you were just talking by yourself in the woods. Look where you are now. Although I don’t agree with some of your guests’ point of view or the topics, I want to extend you a huge congratulations on your success and thank you for your shows. Keep up the awesome work
@@Leperboy Chapman was attached to a SEAL team trying to rescue Neil Roberts on Takur Ghar. Chapman was inadvertently left behind when the team exfiled because they thought he was dead. When drone footage analysis revealed that he revived and continued fighting, including engaging Taliban, the USAF wanted to upgrade his Air Force Cross to the Medal of Honor. The Navy actively tried to stop the award because they didn’t want to acknowledge that he was left behind. It was more important to preserve the SEAL brand. Shameful, especially because Chapman was credited with saving the entire team.
It's humbling to hear what these guys go through. God bless warriors like these putting everything on the line. I had a friend involved but never asked him any questions out of respect for him and his team. I'm nobody and had no right to ask anything because I don't know the story. These guys deal with hell on earth while politicians in Washington don't even remember and continue to stir the pot over there. I pray these kinda guys don't have to live through another one of Washington's forever wars. 🙏
Marcus luttrell? His story is compromised. The Navy wrote the book and made the movie. His AAR and facts from others are telling. And don't like up with the book or the movie at all. Luttrell can't tell the truth, but hopefully one day will.
@@Doman3500 Latrell at least did admit on camera that he was a coward and he sat there put his weapon down and his hands over his ears while his friends called for help
It’s great hearing someone who seen Marc after and witnessed all his injuries when all these haters saying he got out unscathed and abandoned his team!
Yes he was scratched up from evading. He "Latrell" mentioned in an interview he bolted even as his teammate was asking for help. That is desertion. On his first OP he left his mates. Sure some may have already been killed but we know Axle lived and made it to the Rally point, but died from his wounds 7 or 8 days after the fighting. They delayed going in due to Latrell saying they were all dead. Saving face is all I hear now. The after action reports are sealed, but a few honorable soldiers have related it is hard to have a firefight with 20 or 30 enemy but return with full mags. HE walked onto the rescue vehicle. The findings there were 5 to 8 enemy. With Latrell deserting ... he could have made the difference in one or two of his mates lives if he did not cowardly run off. Scrapped himself up bad running with the fear and guilt. The look on his face when he tells the story is not PTSD. It is guilt .. lies ... cowardly actions. Sure that is a part of PTSD. The guilt we put on ourselves of surviving when others do not. Things that have to be done. HE did not have to run like a coward, but he did. The military could not have a Lone Survivor Coward so it was changed to Lone Survivor Hero. Many that have interviewed him seem to not want to hear the truth and then have to back peddle.
I don't know why they don't tell the truth lone survivor Marcus luttrell was a lone runner her ran and left his team behind there's drone footage of that the Navy gave him that lone survivor story as a cover because it was so embarrassing for the Navy I know the Navy guys like to say that they're the best but the fact of the matter is they're constantly calling army rangers or Delta to come and save them same s*** with Chris Kyle Jocko inflated his numbers and he pretty much admitted it he said sometimes you got to do what you got to do to get the missions cuz when you're not producing you don't get good missions so he inflated numbers you just had two sales that drowned so I guess now they're going to be asking the Coast guard to follow them while they're in water so they can be saved in the water this time it's embarrassing
Oh well…it’s all the seals fault. Sending only four guys ignoring the marines when they warned them it was extremely dangerous. Seals got cocky and got smoked
I don't get why so many people that weren't there are so quick to call Marcuss a liar...maybe he got some of the story wrong but due to the fact that he probably had several concussions, severe blood loss, dehydration and the trauma of watching 3 of his best friends get killed I think we can give him a pass
Ok, I know you didn’t do research so I’ll help you out. I’m not even trying to start an argument or belittle you in any way. There’s eyewitness accounts that as soon as the fighting started Marcus ran away. The person even said there’s drone footage of him running away. He also lied about the size of the force they were supposedly fighting. It’s was around 7 to 10 enemies. As for all the injuries he said he sustained, they’re all lies. He said he had deep cuts all over his face, broken nose and he bit his tongue off. He also said he got shot a bunch of times with broken bones as well. Yet Gulab, the guy who saved him showed a photo of Marcus dressed in traditional clothing I’m guessing in order to help him blend in. His face was not only clear but there were no injuries. Also, if his knee was shattered like he claimed he wouldn’t have been able to kneel the way he did in that photo. Also, the biggest one that makes no sense is his back bring broken in several places… From what many have said his injuries, aside from a gunshot wound to one of his buttocks while he ran away, his actual injuries weren’t that serious. He literally walked to the rescue chopped. How’s that happen with a shattered knee? He wasn’t in the village for that long before he was rescued. He was also discovered to have full clips and all 11 clips he brought were accounted for. I’m really sorry man but he didn’t watch anyone die. He fled as soon as the fighting began. They were calling for him in a leaked Taliban video. And one guy, Matthew, he survived up until a day or two before he was found. And that was ten days into the search and rescue operation. I know it might be rough to think of someone who fought for our country as a coward but there’s way too much evidence showing that he got scared and saved himself leaving his team behind to get slaughtered so he can escape. Sorry but he doesn’t get a pass for that. I’m sure you’ll be able to find all of this information yourself too if you really wanted to know the truth. I’ll leave you with this to think about; Marcus went into a country he’s never fought in before with some of the most rugged and unforgiving terrain there is in a spot on a mountain he’s never been on and it’s his very first time actually being deployed to fight. SEAL or not when the fighting starts you’ll always find out which dog as actually a cat.

SHAWN! Get some British special forces on!!! 1- CRAIG HARRISON 2- DAVE RADBAND Those two particularly! EXTRODINARY guys and unbelivable storys!!! Hardest guys alive!
It’s sad to hear him talk about much empathy he had for Marcus because he didn’t know that he ran without ever firing a shot, leaving his teammates to die.
@@johnnyfamous Yes I have, I am retired military and I’ve done 9 deployments. What exactly does that have to do with me, pointing out the fact that Marcus ran and never fired a shot, leaving his teammates to die while they screamed his name and begged him to come back and fight? Before you say anything, it’s all on film so there’s no denying it. The Taliban filmed every minute of it and it’s easily found via Google and then the Rangers that rescued him have all confirmed that there was not a single round missing from his magazine. Again, that can be found here on UA-cam and or Google. With all that being said, I still personally would not have judged him for being scared had he not made a movie claiming a very different story.
@@shanecrocker3629 just checkin, I don't judge. He does seem very over bearing in his interviews and if he did leave his buddies he should have his trident taken from him. I only asked because I think the only people with any right to rag on anybodies actions in combat are combat veterans. Wasn't trying to challenge you but man are there a lot of internet "operators" who love to trash our service men when they did nothing. 9 deployments is too much bud haha but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

My unit was on that mission. We got sent to jbad from gardez as soon as those first guys got smoked. The 82nd pulled all the security and did most of the searching for Luttrell. Nothing on that book or movie were accurate. There was no action after the initial firefight. The only shots fired were by marines calling for fire on some goat herders.
The footage that the Taliban released from Operation Red Wings is telling. It looked like 8-15 dudes ambushed Marcus and his boys. Not the 80-200 Marcus claims. The whole situation was fucked from the moment they got off those birds.

I heard that. Don’t know the truth of the matter but The Antihero Podcast is underrated IMO.
Saw that too, I knew Kyle and that jocko guy were bags of shit but I was surprised by Luttrell.
And zero evidence of any enemy KIA, and Marcus was found with full mags.
The whole “tip of the spear” status is disintegrating before our very eyes. So much coverup, so much lying, so much spin, so many book deals, and screenplays and speaking engagements … can’t the military force these guys to sign a contract stating they will keep their mouths’ shut?
Shit goes bad no matter how good you are. And just like any group of humans you have good and bad. Unfortunately they're hard to weed out.
I Served from 1983-89 and back then there were Non-Disclosures. If you spoke of anything you did publicly, you could be disavowed or worse. I wasn't with the Teams, but I was in a Rate that encountered them regularly.

Appreciate this podcast!!! Combat Vet myself...cant wait to see more interviews
Best podcast out there, Shawn sits back and lets his guest talk and then when he ask a question he takes time to think about it
Probably the best channel on this content. Really gives an inside look into the lives of these giants.
Shawn Ryan's Podcast is top tier for military interviews. It's great hearing other sides of operations we all know so much about
Finally, some more war stories. I’ve been patiently waiting
This is an old clip. Marcus Capone episode but I agree lol. Ready for more
This is one of the best channels on the internet. Real shit
These stories need to be told. Thanks for sharing what must be a very painful story and memory for you.
The Taliban stories need to be told.

Much love and 1000% respect 😮
I still find it amazing that nobody mentions MAJ Steve Reich of the 160th. He was one of my LTs and not mentioned in the movie and the vast majority of discussions on this mission. Look him up. Great guy, pitcher, soldier.
The other two pilots were both friends of mine as well. They don’t get mentioned so I know how you feel. Great guys.
Great interview, seeing that you guys do in fact still have normal human emotions is always a plus. Imo seeing the guest operator(s) name in the header or description would be helpful for us viewers.
Very good interviewer. The Luttrell family lives just up the road from me, good family, good people from small town Willis, Texas.
What are locals saying about the controversy surrounding his actions?
Absolutely love your show. Best I have ever seen
Great podcast. We took the fight to them bigtime not long after and pasted them daily together side by side. Vet from UK
"Then we got to work" I believe he was saying we put the hurt on the bad guys
I remember asking a dev guy I took a class from what was the truth about RW
He said those dudes were advised by a tier one command it’s not a good op and that they shouldn’t go. They decided to go anyway. And there are sops in order so you don’t have to take a vote. And leaving a rope cut from the chopper by the crew was mission compromised from the get go. But they kept going anyway. Anything else you’d have to get from Marcus…that’s what he told me
Thank you both for your service.
I really wish Shawn would have asked the real story of what happened on that operation.

The government would not allow the real truth on what actually happened in either the book or movie the public will never know whole truth

There's a cool interview of Shawn on the Mike Drop podcast. Share's a lot of fun stories.
Marcus the Lone Runner.
Were you there?
Just tell the real story of what happened, you'll feel better.
'Lone Runner'
Why don’t you tell it since you seem to have the full 411 on it. Sounds like you’re implying that either Marcus Capone or Marcus Luttrell are cowards. So, which is it?
Watched a good documentary, called '' The Lone survivor, the real story''. Luttrell set his Lawyers onto Gulab because he dared to question the honesty of Luttrells Hollywood story.
Antihero Podcast just put out a good episode on it... Completely changed the way I see a few things..
Total BS
@@frosty_sodaEveryone can get caught out. What happened with your SAS boys in the desert of Iraq?? Does that mean they are garbage?
@@jeremyfortune7274 Precisely. Seems like a lot jealous warriors who couldn’t cut BUD/S and become SEALS and instead start these asinine rumors that serve only to besmirch the reputation of a true warrior. When you ask them to provide proof to back up their assertions all you get are crickets.
What would happen if all the seals got together in that room and had alittle chat. And stream it live. Someone would get nervous.....
Shawn is the worlds best listener!
A reconnaissance mission given to a Seal Team that knew nothing about reconnaissance. Complete failure that could have been avoided.
YES….Shawn has one of the best shows on here. Great Job! Had some fake laying POS on here but it’s nor the fault of Shawn…great sit down always
He’s a fraud

I went through that same phase as infantryman, where something really shitty happened during deployment and I had to realize that I'm not invulnerable and that really bad things can happen.

Hello Shawn, I remember finding your channel many years ago when you were just talking by yourself in the woods. Look where you are now. Although I don’t agree with some of your guests’ point of view or the topics, I want to extend you a huge congratulations on your success and thank you for your shows. Keep up the awesome work
How about Shawn bring on Dan Schilling to have a frank discussion about John Chapman and what really happened on Robert’s Ridge.
what happened on robert’s ridge? wasn’t john chapman the air force spec ops?

With the latest information on what actually happened on Red Wings and what Marcus actually did, I cringe when I hear the stories of Red Wings now.
In hindsight. Life or death by a simple coin toss is crazy.
I always wondered what the guy from Modern Family does in his free time
It's humbling to hear what these guys go through. 🙏
Shawn should get Marcus in here an give his interview
Marcus luttrell? His story is compromised. The Navy wrote the book and made the movie. His AAR and facts from others are telling. And don't like up with the book or the movie at all.
Luttrell can't tell the truth, but hopefully one day will.
@@Doman3500 Latrell at least did admit on camera that he was a coward and he sat there put his weapon down and his hands over his ears while his friends called for help
Never said that
Great job. Thanks for your service fellas
All his mags were full and he admitted to freezing up. It's not hating its just what happened.
“And then we got to work” 👊
"And then we got to work..."
Based on recent revelations, I wonder how much is real and how much is not.
Marcus Luttrell was found with all 11 mags full of ammo! Coward!
Oh well…it’s all the seals fault. Sending only four guys ignoring the marines when they warned them it was extremely dangerous. Seals got cocky and got smoked
In other words he’s a pusie coward.
It's crazy, all my deployments it's always the spouses back home that always get the correct information. Every time.
Supposed evidence..how bout actual proof? Witnesses present and video claimed to exist.
Shawn i love this OG interview room ! Than the new one !but are beautiful tho

It’s sad to hear him talk about much empathy he had for Marcus because he didn’t know that he ran without ever firing a shot, leaving his teammates to die.
You ever been to war?
Where is the video and proof of that? This is the first time I’ve ever heard that
@@shanecrocker3629 just checkin, I don't judge. He does seem very over bearing in his interviews and if he did leave his buddies he should have his trident taken from him.
