I think "Angel" are more humane Demons that are devoted to protect instead of destroy. The reason Dante's DT is more demonic is because he thinks he needs to destroy Vergil, but Nero sees that Vergil can change, that its not too late, so his DT is a demonic Angel.
I know that Bayonetta was a separate video game but they were both created by Capcom and Bayonetta has some Devil May Cry Easter eggs so I always consider them existing in the same universe. If that is the case Angels are very similar to demons in that they will use humans to further heaven's agenda. Where demons value power and dominion for their personal gain, angles value dominion for the sake of a "hive mind" obedience to whatever their higher power is. What heaven's higher power is was left ambiguous but it wasn't good.
I love how DMC 5 shows those little details and actions that shows more than what words can do, those smirks that Dante and Vergil give each other when they fight, how the twins show confidence to everyone but in private they monologue about their personal thoughts and worries. I also love how Kyrie is the person who Nero can actually talk about his doubts and fears without worry something that makes him different from the twins who dont have this person who they can talk about their fears, also one can notice the big change in Dante and Vergil at the end when they go to the underworld, Dante can go now with Vergil with the security that the human world will safe because of Nero (which for Nero must be a proof that Dante trust in him, his mentor trust in him too keep safe the human world) and how Vergil this time accepts the help of Dante something that Vergil says no in DMC 3, I think too Dante this must be a like atone for not be able to save Vergil in DMC 3. Also is funny how the twins go about closing the portal to the underworld like its not a big deal and Nero is too serious about it but if one looks for those little details it shows how Dante and Vergil still keep their feelings inside when Nero is more open about them, for example the scene feels to me like Nero is expecting some kind of family reunion with hugs or some nice words (not literally). Instead Dante and Vergil go with their normal actitudes like is not the big deal and then they remember about a portal to the underworld and decide to seal it leaving Nero to keep the human safe. But there are some little details that make scene special, like this little joke beetween Dante and Vergil about Dante keeping and eye on vergil to avoid another Nelo Angelo, or how Dante jumps first so Vergil and Nero can have some privacy which Vergil says that he will be back for the rematch, something that also shows how really Vergil only knows how to express his feelings in combat, or something along those lines. But theres also the book maybe a way to conect with Nero throught a hobby maybe? Also I think Neros Devil Trigger may be influenced by Credo´s death, Credo´s demon form look like an angel maybe there is something that influence this things, the last part is more like a vague thought.
8:32 there's an enemy in dmc3 that has glowing wings and you have to break through their wings to actually do damage to it. In the enemy profile in the game I remember it saying that this enemy is a demon who did something incredibly good earning them some form of redemption shown from the angelic wings. So maybe angels were a thing they thought of for later installments just never implemented.

After watching this video, I realized the importance of the counter move Nero does against Vergil when he gets impaled by Yamato. The Yamato is what unlocked his devil trigger originally and gave him more power. At the end, after his call with Kyrie, he understands himself and his power more. He has looked at himself as a demon for so long that he reached a state of pseudo devil trigger with his arm. At that time he gets confused about everything, due to discovering his father's identity. Nero finally realizes his own humanity and who he is. I would say that if he hadn't lost his arm, we would have gotten to see it change back into a more human form before he goes running up the giant tree and fully unlocks his true DT. Now he has no need for Yamato and he instead throws it back at the man who has truly embraced being a Demon up to this point. The entire fight between father and son being a battle of which side to embrace, humanity, or their demonic heritage.

That final scene when they're fighting in Hell is the first (probably only) time that you feel like they're brothers. What was once a battle of beliefs is now just a healthy sibling rivalry. Everyone noticed, that two Nero's dt awakenings are...drammatic? Like 1st: Nero is almost dead, but the memerys of his loved one and a need to protect her leads to Nero awekening his inner demon. "Anything to protect her" he said. And his 2nd dt be like Nero just found out he has s father. And an uncle! And they are fighting a battle that surely will kill at least 1 of them! Remebering the death of Credo, of a man that was like blood brother to him. Expiriencing the death of a family member. That something Nero SURELY did not want repeat. Losing just found family? Hell no! "I'M NOT LETTING YOU DIE!" cried our hero(and oh DAAAMN the voice acting and music were on point) and awekend the power that can put a stop to that sibling rivalry. Like an angel he came down from heavens, stopping brothers from fighting, stopping their swords from colliding. He preached love. Love that gave him his power. Twice. Even though this might not be intentional, I like to look at the story of DMC 4 as a parallel to Sparda's rebellion against the demon world We have Nero, who has a rebellious personality which Sparda also had (at leat according to the wiki) and has a love interest in the form of Kyrie whom he loves, like Eva. And in the end, he destroys the evil order which he was a part of to save humanity.

well i have a theory for Nero's power/apparence. The concept of angels as being of virtue and purity exist in DMC univers. In DMC 4 novel it has been explain that Nero wasn't a religious person ( show in DMC 4 intro ) but his adoptive parent were religious along with Credo and Kyrie. But his faith in God has been crush when his 'parents' died from demons ( failed Alto Angelo). However Nero has lived a life full of religion and the picture of Gods/angels and of Sparda as Savior of mankind has probably marked Nero ( + the fact that Kyrie believe in it ). Also of i'm not mistaken in the Bible God has 'fired' Satan and others angels to Hell because they were opposing him. In DMC univers Sparda has more quited the Demons instead of being fired but this give us a very good parallel. So the things would have been transmitted to Nero too. +Nero is technically the most good in term of moral in comparison to Dante or Vergil so the idea of him having a Devil trigger looking like an angel ( spectral arm in feathers instead of lizard like skin and horns in feathers ) make a lot of sens. Also when Nero has a huge power up it's not when he is in danger or angry but when he is worrying for others. DMC 4 : Nero was going to die/fall unconscient but then he remember the day where he saved Kyrie from demons ( and after he got some sort of vision where he speak with the ghost or memory of Vergil where Vergil ask what Nero want. Nero said he don't know and then Vergil said that he (Vergil) want power. Nero answer that he will choose that too. ) And then Nero repair Yamato and unlock some of his demoni power. In DMC 5 Nero awake his DT to stop his Uncle and his father to kill each others. So Nero will turn into in angel like Satan turn into a demon in 'real' life.

Nero’s dmc 4 design was a mix of read and blue his weapons were named after the 2 colors (blue rose and red queen) even his devil bringer had a mix of blue and red so Dante and Vergil influenced Nero even before he met them
7:56 for me, I question if it's the other way around? In the classic Bible, it's said that demons are angels who fell from grace down into hell with Lucifur. But as we see in the DMC universe, there has been zero mention of the winged guardians anywhere and the closest thing we get to him are the twins' old man and Nero's grandpa. I'm getting the feeling that 'angels' in this universe are simply demons like Sparda who forsook their evil ways and defend humanity in secret.
I don't think that angels existing in the series would necessarily split the whole thing into "good" and "evil". The games have shown that your morality isn't determined by your species. Yeah, most of the common enemies are demons, but I think that those are the Demon World's equivalent to wild animals rather than a true representation of demons as a whole. I mean, almost all of the demon boss fights are shown to be at least slightly more intelligent than regular enemies. Then there's the fact that...well...Trish and Sparda exist. The only full-blooded demons who are good guys. (so far) Let's not forget Argus, Arkham and Sanctus, the main(or semi-main in the former two's cases) villains of 2, 3 and 4, who are all humans. Being an angel might put you on "the good side", but you're not limited to only being "good". If anything, being an angel will probably just give you a different power set. It's like Highschool DxD, only the divide isn't as strict.

I know I'm late to this, but I just wanted to say I really like your sort of theory that "angels" in the world of DMC are just another branch of the demon species. Not only is there a precedent with at least three characters having somewhat angelic demon forms, but it would also be a pretty neat inversion of the belief that demons are just angels who fell from grace. So in short, I'm kinda hoping this winds up being an actual part of the lore

Demons don't have grave in the first place. There are confirmed gods in the DMC verse. The thing is that unlike most mythologies demons are above gods in power. Okay I feel like angels or the aspect of heaven in DMC is stupid it’ll just be bayonetta and I’ll be kinda lame. Also I feel like if Dante and Vergil came back to the human world it’ll be better for both their character arcs. Vergil will finally be able to show compassion to humans and most importantly become at least a decent father. Dante will finally be able to get over the death of his family he has his brother and his nephew by his side(a potential love interest in lady) so he can look towards the future instead of the past. I hate the idea of them staying in hell, it’s just like their arc isn’t complete yes they are on better terms but Vergil hasn’t embraced humanity he just repaired his relationship with Dante. Dante can now move on from all the pain he felt from the death of his mother but with the 4 or 5 people that means the most to him(lady, Trish, Morrison, Nero, and patty) Dante doesn’t get to show them he’s better, the people that impacted his life the most don’t get to see him when he’s at his best mentally. Like think of the toll that takes on them that the man that has affected the life, just kinda decided to stay in hell and say fuck you. In the end trish and lady sound disappointed that he isn’t back, Ik patty is disappointed because the man that was like a father to her is no where to be found. I just feel like that’s not a great ending, if they wanted to end the sons of Sparda saga and have Nero Start up the new generation I feel like every character in Dante and Vergil’s life should’ve gotten an ending. Hopefully If they make DMC 5 SE or DMC 6( Jesus that’s gonna be so long from now with the RE 4 remake and RE 8) I want an ending to all the character arcs
Personally I still love Bayonetta and DMC as companion series with demons and angels. Which lines up with both Heaven and Hell being more complex than good or evil.
I have to say as a Hardcore devil may cry fan since the first hour with dmc 1 back then in 2001, it's good to see so much other people with the same Love for it and with the Internet the possibility to talk with them over the matter. In my childhood there was not really another Person who know the Games. And at Gamescom 2018 where i was able to play the dmc5 Demo i met other fans as well while we were waiting and i had a hell of awesome conversations with them over devil may cry in general.
If angels ever became a thing in the devil my cry universe I'd like them to be a species that over time became disillusioned/disappointed with mankind, closing themselves out from both the human and demon realm giving an explanation why we've never seen one in the series, then I'd have them take notice of Kyrie, one human worthy of their notice (perhaps even making her a playable character, similar to how V played with long range tactics but emphasizing light). but like how it was stated in the video, I'd want them to be a full spectrum of good/neutral/evil much like how I'd like the demons to be.

We need a DMC6 and a DMC game that based solely off of Sparda but DMC6 needs to be about Mundus returning and Dante & Vergil meeting him head-on since DMC5 is the revival of Vergil I feel DMC6 should be Vergil’s Revenge Tale also I think Kyrie should die either by Mundus hand or after giving birth to a female Devil Hunter to bring that emotion back into DMC. I think That will give a lot of fans a lot more reason to care for Nero he needs something tragic to happen to him like Dante N Vergil has had happened.
btw in the anime it establishes that there are some demons that are forced to come over to the human world but also dont want to fight as shown by a demon dante meets who is tasked with summoning his lord but is freed when dante kills the demon being summoned. With that precedent set its entirely possible that entire communities can form of peacefull "demons" that want nothing but to live their own lives and not disturb anyone however as humanity has been battered by a constant onslaught of violent aggressive demons not only in battle but controlling positions of power its possible these refugees would not be treated well as the demons in power would see them as traitors for not furthering the aim of whatever lord they serve and the humans would lump them in the same category as the demons that have harrassed them for so long TLDR: SEQUEL BAIT!!!!!

The best thing everrr would be Sparda being the antagonist in Devil May Cry 6. Hear me out now: the devs can take aspects of DmC in terms of Sparda being captured/tortured for eons and Nero being a type of Nephilim- his sin trigger could take more angelic features for sed reason. It would be a great culmination to all 5 entries in terms of the story and character development, plus, how awesome would it be for to see the sons of Sparda in the same space of Sparda after everything that's happened in his name (andd how funny would him seeing Trish be😂😂). There are no more main demons in the DMC world and if there were, even Nero could handle them with ease. Having Sparda appear, twisted and insane, he could attempt to fully merge the realms and pull a DmC Vergil & rule with an iron fist to ensure his brethren as well as humans are forced to coexist- that could be referred to as "The End of the Beginning" or "The lines of a broken Lineage ends here"

Nero in dmc 4 was the same age as dante in dmc 3 (19). The first act of the dmc 5 prequel novel takes place 5 years after 'the fortuna incident' and in act two of the novel there was a 1 year time skip which is when dmc 5 takes place. 19 + 5 + 1= 25
while yeah nero true devil trigger is amazing and badass but is it even a devil trigger now i know and i will outright admit i could be fully wrong in those words but the reason i bring it up is from dante and vergil own reactions to the form itself both of them have been at the devil slaying job long enough to know a devil trigger when they see one so why in the world did they look completely confused when they saw it which leads me to this could nero be the actual cannon version of the reboot dmc game nephalem and nero mom pull what kratos 2nd dead wife did in the 2018 god of war game by not telling him she was a giant but in this case nero mother could be ether full angel or a half angel but like i said and i will admit i could be 100% wrong with this theory i just wanted to put food to thought with this

That final scene when they're fighting in Hell is the first (probably only) time that you feel like they're brothers. What was once a battle of beliefs is now just a healthy sibling rivalry. Well, as healthy as it can get when you're swinging swords or shooting bullets at each other.

Everyone noticed, that two Nero's dt awakenings are...drammatic? Like 1st: Nero is almost dead, but the memerys of his loved one and a need to protect her leads to Nero awekening his inner demon. "Anything to protect her" he said.
And his 2nd dt be like
Nero just found out he has s father. And an uncle! And they are fighting a battle that surely will kill at least 1 of them! Remebering the death of Credo, of a man that was like blood brother to him. Expiriencing the death of a family member. That something Nero SURELY did not want repeat. Losing just found family? Hell no! "I'M NOT LETTING YOU DIE!" cried our hero(and oh DAAAMN the voice acting and music were on point) and awekend the power that can put a stop to that sibling rivalry. Like an angel he came down from heavens, stopping brothers from fighting, stopping their swords from colliding. He preached love. Love that gave him his power. Twice. But he preaches this love in a more demonic way...beating the living crap out of his dead and bitch-slapping his uncle down into knockdown. But still! He only did it out of love!

Even though this might not be intentional, I like to look at the story of DMC 4 as a parallel to Sparda's rebellion against the demon world
We have Nero, who has a rebellious personality which Sparda also had (at leat according to the wiki) and has a love interest in the form of Kyrie whom he loves, like Eva.
And in the end, he destroys the evil order which he was a part of to save humanity.

8:37, I love that idea but in dmc5 there is a amulet that you can find that hits Devil May Cry and Bayonetta take place in the same universe. well i have a theory for Nero's power/apparence.
The concept of angels as being of virtue and purity exist in DMC univers. In DMC 4 novel it has been explain that Nero wasn't a religious person ( show in DMC 4 intro ) but his adoptive parent were religious along with Credo and Kyrie.
But his faith in God has been crush when his 'parents' died from demons ( failed Alto Angelo).
However Nero has lived a life full of religion and the picture of Gods/angels and of Sparda as Savior of mankind has probably marked Nero ( + the fact that Kyrie believe in it ).
Also of i'm not mistaken in the Bible God has 'fired' Satan and others angels to Hell because they were opposing him.
In DMC univers Sparda has more quited the Demons instead of being fired but this give us a very good parallel.
So the things would have been transmitted to Nero too.
+Nero is technically the most good in term of moral in comparison to Dante or Vergil so the idea of him having a Devil trigger looking like an angel ( spectral arm in feathers instead of lizard like skin and horns in feathers ) make a lot of sens.
Also when Nero has a huge power up it's not when he is in danger or angry but when he is worrying for others.
DMC 4 : Nero was going to die/fall unconscient but then he remember the day where he saved Kyrie from demons ( and after he got some sort of vision where he speak with the ghost or memory of Vergil where Vergil ask what Nero want.
Nero said he don't know and then Vergil said that he (Vergil) want power. Nero answer that he will choose that too. )
And then Nero repair Yamato and unlock some of his demoni power.
In DMC 5 Nero awake his DT to stop his Uncle and his father to kill each others.
So Nero will turn into in angel like Satan turn into a demon in 'real' life.

Nero’s dmc 4 design was a mix of read and blue his weapons were named after the 2 colors (blue rose and red queen) even his devil bringer had a mix of blue and red so Dante and Vergil influenced Nero even before he met them
7:56 for me, I question if it's the other way around? In the classic Bible, it's said that demons are angels who fell from grace down into hell with Lucifur. But as we see in the DMC universe, there has been zero mention of the winged guardians anywhere and the closest thing we get to him are the twins' old man and Nero's grandpa. I'm getting the feeling that 'angels' in this universe are simply demons like Sparda who forsook their evil ways and defend humanity in secret.

Yeah, most of the common enemies are demons, but I think that those are the Demon World's equivalent to wild animals rather than a true representation of demons as a whole.
I mean, almost all of the demon boss fights are shown to be at least slightly more intelligent than regular enemies.
Then there's the fact that...well...Trish and Sparda exist.

I know I'm late to this, but I just wanted to say I really like your sort of theory that "angels" in the world of DMC are just another branch of the demon species. Not only is there a precedent with at least three characters having somewhat angelic demon forms, but it would also be a pretty neat inversion of the belief that demons are just angels who fell from grace. So in short, I'm kinda hoping this winds up being an actual part of the lore

Demons don't have grave in the first place. There are confirmed gods in the DMC verse. The thing is that unlike most mythologies demons are above gods in power. The Demon Kings are universe warping beings able to split universes apart and bring them back together.

Okay I feel like angels or the aspect of heaven in DMC is stupid it’ll just be bayonetta and I’ll be kinda lame.
Also I feel like if Dante and Vergil came back to the human world it’ll be better for both their character arcs. Vergil will finally be able to show compassion to humans and most importantly become at least a decent father. Dante will finally be able to get over the death of his family he has his brother and his nephew by his side(a potential love interest in lady) so he can look towards the future instead of the past.
I hate the idea of them staying in hell, it’s just like their arc isn’t complete yes they are on better terms but Vergil hasn’t embraced humanity he just repaired his relationship with Dante. Dante can now move on from all the pain he felt from the death of his mother but with the 4 or 5 people that means the most to him(lady, Trish, Morrison, Nero, and patty) Dante doesn’t get to show them he’s better, the people that impacted his life the most don’t get to see him when he’s at his best mentally. Like think of the toll that takes on them that the man that has affected the life, just kinda decided to stay in hell and say fuck you. In the end trish and lady sound disappointed that he isn’t back, Ik patty is disappointed because the man that was like a father to her is no where to be found. I just feel like that’s not a great ending, if they wanted to end the sons of Sparda saga and have Nero Start up the new generation I feel like every character in Dante and Vergil’s life should’ve gotten an ending.
Hopefully If they make DMC 5 SE or DMC 6( Jesus that’s gonna be so long from now with the RE 4 remake and RE 8) I want an ending to all the character arcs
Personally I still love Bayonetta and DMC as companion series with demons and angels. Which lines up with both Heaven and Hell being more complex than good or evil.
I have to say as a Hardcore devil may cry fan since the first hour with dmc 1 back then in 2001, it's good to see so much other people with the same Love for it and with the Internet the possibility to talk with them over the matter. In my childhood there was not really another Person who know the Games. And at Gamescom 2018 where i was able to play the dmc5 Demo i met other fans as well while we were waiting and i had a hell of awesome conversations with them over devil may cry in general.
If angels ever became a thing in the devil my cry universe I'd like them to be a species that over time became disillusioned/disappointed with mankind, closing themselves out from both the human and demon realm giving an explanation why we've never seen one in the series, then I'd have them take notice of Kyrie, one human worthy of their notice (perhaps even making her a playable character, similar to how V played with long range tactics but emphasizing light). but like how it was stated in the video, I'd want them to be a full spectrum of good/neutral/evil much like how I'd like the demons to be.

We need a DMC6 and a DMC game that based solely off of Sparda but DMC6 needs to be about Mundus returning and Dante & Vergil meeting him head-on since DMC5 is the revival of Vergil I feel DMC6 should be Vergil’s Revenge Tale also I think Kyrie should die either by Mundus hand or after giving birth to a female Devil Hunter to bring that emotion back into DMC. I think That will give a lot of fans a lot more reason to care for Nero he needs something tragic to happen to him like Dante N Vergil has had happened.

btw in the anime it establishes that there are some demons that are forced to come over to the human world but also dont want to fight as shown by a demon dante meets who is tasked with summoning his lord but is freed when dante kills the demon being summoned. With that precedent set its entirely possible that entire communities can form of peacefull "demons" that want nothing but to live their own lives and not disturb anyone however as humanity has been battered by a constant onslaught of violent aggressive demons not only in battle but controlling positions of power its possible these refugees would not be treated well as the demons in power would see them as traitors for not furthering the aim of whatever lord they serve and the humans would lump them in the same category as the demons that have harrassed them for so long

The best thing everrr would be Sparda being the antagonist in Devil May Cry 6. Hear me out now: the devs can take aspects of DmC in terms of Sparda being captured/tortured for eons and Nero being a type of Nephilim- his sin trigger could take more angelic features for sed reason. It would be a great culmination to all 5 entries in terms of the story and character development, plus, how awesome would it be for to see the sons of Sparda in the same space of Sparda after everything that's happened in his name (andd how funny would him seeing Trish be😂😂). There are no more main demons in the DMC world and if there were, even Nero could handle them with ease. Having Sparda appear, twisted and insane, he could attempt to fully merge the realms and pull a DmC Vergil & rule with an iron fist to ensure his brethren as well as humans are forced to coexist- that could be referred to as "The End of the Beginning" or "The lines of a broken Lineage ends here"

Nero in dmc 4 was the same age as dante in dmc 3 (19). The first act of the dmc 5 prequel novel takes place 5 years after 'the fortuna incident' and in act two of the novel there was a 1 year time skip which is when dmc 5 takes place.
