I think there's a misinterpretation here at 8:50 or so. Vergil, as of DMC3, doesn't see Dante as an obstacle. He *wants to* see him as an obstacle but... There's a reason he actually speaks full sentences in multiple inflections to Dante in the game and basically no one else: he sees his brother as his only possible peer, and their first fight on Temen-Ni-Gru is less about taking the amulet (as he says to Arkham, he could have just done that earlier, no sweat), and more about communicating with the younger son of Sparda. He wants his brother to understand. He says 'why do you _refuse_ to gain power" and calls Sparda "our father". Which suggests he's offering him more than he offers anyone else alive in terms of respect and agency. Even in taking the amulet, there's a sense of disappointment behind the contempt, and that moment where he presses the last memento of their mother to his brow before slicking back his hair speaks to the gulf between them and the connection they have all at once.

Even after getting pummelled in the face and thrown at a statue and stabbed by his own demon slaying sword Dante dose nothing but smile and pulls it out
great video as always man, but can you do one for Dante? I think he's actually a really interesting and actually surprisingly deep character despite what people might think
The anime shows a depressing side of dante and shows his character to have more layers. There's also the theory that the reason Dante was so cold and unsociable in DMC2 was because everyone he cared about either died or he simply outlived them, as shown in the outro of the anime the people he cares about is what keeps him motivated. It's a shame though that capcom can't seem to keep up with the continuity of Dante's personality though as Dante was depressed in the anime and went back to being happy go lucky in DMC4. Someone doesn't just recover from depression that easily.
@@supremedreams6789 I kinda thought it was more like Dante knew who Nero was after their scuffle and was finally feeling like his younger DMC 3 self, and he continues to be happy knowing he has someone who can be considered family
Kinda make more sense now in my head canon that his mother was an angel or someone that also have the same ritual as credo did before she have to abandon nero. After watching this after playing 5, it make abit more sense.

Man, I wish literally any of this information was actually explained in the game. It would have made DMC4's story a lot more palatable.
Nero has the power that Vergil wanted but the Empathy and Compassion of Dante
what is the song in the intro that was in the DMC trailer BTW 2:00 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 knowing Vergil,Vergil save that made me laugh so hard that it took me about 5 minutes to stop laughing
At 4:02 an ad for RAID appeared and said "let's play some Raid: Shadow Legends"
And I'm like "wow Vergil even you sold out to Raid"
Dante headshot the pope.
You have killed me.
You know i can perfectly describe what goes through his head, after all we heard it before.
"NERO! KERIA!!" that was literally their whole relationship
must play dmc now O.O
just found this, great video! wonderfully written and edited
Can't wait to see what will happen between Nero and Vergil! Will the old man teach his son a lesson about power or will he help him in some way?
Loving that tekken music when u talk about the last mission fighting the old guy.
That intro tho
Your dancing in the middle with the monotone look on your face.. so good! XD
Haha top tier as always
Even after getting pummelled in the face and thrown at a statue and stabbed by his own demon slaying sword Dante dose nothing but smile and pulls it out
Nice Aria of Sorrow music
Yooo!!!! DMC 4 was my introduction to the series too!!!
You earned my subscription, glad I found your channel!!!
And thus the he accepts the arm is a part of him
*until dmc5*
DMC5 shows that being a deadbeat dad is not ok
great video as always man, but can you do one for Dante? I think he's actually a really interesting and actually surprisingly deep character despite what people might think
I completely agree. If you want a video on his character, watch codex entry's video.
Xeno Warrior oh I've seen his video, it really opened my eyes to why dmc3 Dante was so great and why I love him
CrowTheGamer I just watched that video and wanted a similar one about DMC4, so he suggested me this one. Oh I love UA-cam
Only ever played DMC Devil May Cry... I feel I missed out on what made Virgel the badass that people said he was.
LiverSpottedHunk
If you what to see what made Vergil so loved then play Devil May Cry 3. That's where his role is the most important and where he got all of his badassness from.
DMC3 Final battle is THE BEST boss battle in the series. Both story wise and gameplay wise Vergil there is brilliant.
You got no reason to not buy the Devil May Cry collections, while you wait for DMC5.
Dante must die difficulty for that fight was bs but I managed to beat it
You poor child
