    I gotta disagree with ya at 10:33, i don't think Dante couldn't take a Relationship serious in any Way. I think he just doesn't want to risk losing anyone else to Demons, even if Lady is powerful, she is still a Human, throw a strong enough Demon at her and she could die, and i don't think Dante wants to relive through losing a loved one again after his Mother and Brother (though temporarily).
    Anyways great Video my Dude, i appreciate the DMC Content.

      Thanks a ton! You sparked a bit of a train of thought about this in me.
      To continue on with my Theory we can look at the end of DMC5. Dante has no Reason to accompany Vergil to the Underworld, latter is strong enough to cut the Qliphoth roots on his own, but Dante doesn't or can't risk losing his Brother again, considering what happened to Vergil after DMC3. Tying into my Theory about Dante not wanting to lose anyone that matters to him again.
      Anyway, thank you if you read this, first Time i'm kind of "arguing" about something like this.

      This also ties into why Dante didn't want Nero to help him with Vergil/Urizen. Yes I know Dante told him that Vergil was his dad and that he shouldn't have to kill him, but the fact is Dante knew that Nero was his nephew. Whether or not Nero lost his arm, I bet you anything that Dante would've told him to back off not just because he felt Vergil was his responsibility but because Nero was the only real family he had outside of Vergil.

      It doesn't work verbatim like that. Being more human than demon doesn't matter, Nero only won because of something the series has blatantly told us, that when exhausted you don't have to be even close to Dante and Vergil's level to beat them. Just look at Arkham.

  • @jpjfrey5673
    @jpjfrey5673 4 роки тому +20

    Tbh, the writers explain Nero's victory over Vergil by saying that the latter was exhausted fighting Dante - the only being in the universe *ever* to match him, not because the difference in motivation or demon blood percentage. The cutscene before the fight show that Dante is tired enough to say "fuck it", meaning Vergil was at least as exhausted as him. Nero is still detrimentally weaker than his father or uncle, because as we all remember, he couldn't beat Urizen in either of his "lazy" forms (except for the hidden achievement).
    The story ends with Nero officially becoming *the* Devil Hunter of the human world replacing Dante - at this point, his power is closer to that of Dante in DMC3/DMC1. This gives us a chance for a restart of the game cycle, now with Nero as the protagonist.

    • @TheBrokenMadMan
      @TheBrokenMadMan 4 роки тому +4

      I have a hard time believing that tbh. Hear me out here:
      Dante was at DMC2/DMC4 level when he first fought Urizen, and he had Lady and Trish with him, both capable hunters themselves. Despite this, he couldn't even get his shield down from what we could see. Nero managed to down his shield and inflict a wound (however minor) while mostly cut off from his Demonic abilities (no DT, no Buster, no Yamato) and having only his enhanced physical prowess. Dante needed his Sin DT to hurt Urizen, so imo, if Nero were able to achieve his full DT, it could be more powerful than Dante, not to mention the aforementioned motivation factor mentioned in the video.
      TL;DR Saiyan biology applies to demon hybrid apparently.

    • @jpjfrey5673
      @jpjfrey5673 4 роки тому +2

      @@TheBrokenMadMan I disagree with that Dante needed Sin DT:
      In the fights ahead and that one, Sin DT is just a starter, as you can get rid of the shield normally.
      Nero had managed to inflict a *single* wound - with his last breath too - to Urizen. He had his Breakers, and considering that Buster Breaker does more damage than Buster, I'd say they're *stronger* than Nero's initial demonic potential.
      And plus we all know Dante: his head wasn't in the game that day and he wasn't prepared for Vergil in that form specifically, so there's that

    And once again I'm reminded how grateful I am this channel exists.
    I'm so glad Stephen Smith made the comment he did because I feel the same about DMC 2. Despite the gameplay being so vastly different and weaker than the rest of the series, I feel like there is a decent bit of character there involving Dante and Lucia.
    Without writing a dissertation (lol), I'll only mention the coin. I know a lot of people hated it, but it adds additional weight to your points on Dante not being a hero but also being both compassionate yet not appearing selfless. The whole game Dante knew the coin was two sided, but instead of simply agreeing to help Lucia and Matier, he insisted on letting them both believe that his helping was purely luck working in their favor. This allows him to remain distant enough that he can still help them without them feeling entirely dependent on or indebted to him. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

    I like how DMC 5 presents many little details from previous games, novels, etc. that shows how deep everyone is, for example the Menu of the game makes you understand that is been seen from the perspective of Nero (files, documents, Nico's reports, etc.) for example there are letters from Morrison to Nero that explain a little about how Dante was before DMC 3 and how those events change Dante explaining a little about how the death of Vergil affect him. Also show how Nero really doesnt know too much about Dante thought they know each other for what years I think. Theres also how Dante, Vergil and Nero deal with insecurities and problems, Dante acts cool, funny and like he does'nt care, Vergil is cold and tries to overpower anyone that treats him, but when Dante and Vergil can't do that they show some insecurity and they don't have anyone that they can talk to but with Nero is different he has Kyrie someone he trust and can show his insecurities just like before the battle against Vergil in Mission 20, wich takes me to how the battle go, Nero isn't stronger that Dante and Vergil. He was only able to defeat Vergil because he was alredy fighting Dante and was enough weak to defeat him, but the fight also shows more. Dante and Vergil are fighting over their own ideals of how to live. When Vergil sees Dante (his equal in power and nemesis) too tired to keep fighting thanks to previous battles and Nero.He says that he will figth Nero to show how his ideals are right, but when Nero defeats him he accept that his search for power is not enought and that there is some merit to what Dante says and represents. Also if one pays attention when Dante and Vergil figth you can see them some form of a smile from time to time. I think is because 1 it's the only thing that they been doing since they where kids so is like a reminder of better times for the two of them (when they were kids and figth over small stuff but they were a family and their mother was alive). 2 It's a way to show that they respect each other in battle as warriors and they let their blades do the talk. 3 It also is a battle of their ideals which is something we alredy know from DMC 3. But when Nero defeats Vergils the whole ideals fight is like over and they are more relax after that which maybe is a sign of how both of them where tired of the whole thing but they still fight each other because is how they express their feelings to the other like the scene in hell after credits. I hope that they explore more of this in future games. I love your videos.

She also has Heterochromia and white pigtails. Her left eye is blue and her right eye is golden. I first gave her a Long sword, but then I changed it to a Katana, because Dante and Nero already wield big swords. And her Main companions are Agni and Rudra from DMC 3. I just like the idea of Dante giving his grandniece a few of his old weapons. And I also Love Seres' dynamic with the two. Most importantly, they call her Young Mistress. And I also really love the Idea of her just calling Vergil Gramps. It's so funny how Casual she is about certain things. I also gave Neros mom a backstory, so she can be cool as well. I need an actual good picture of Seres, but I sadly can't draw for Shit. Maybe I'll ask my sister to Draw me a cool picture of her. And also mocking people with poetry is awesome. And If Dante has a daughter at some point she would have a grand Cousin. Do you have a Design in mind for this character?

    I think Dante is extremely brooding in dmc2 because he feels that he's not only lost Vergil but Patty. As much as he found her annoying I think he grew fond of her and saw her as a little sister of sorts and she brought some much needed sunshine when no one else would. When she went to live with her mother he felt like he'd lost something again. It's only when he sees Nero who reminded him of Vergil and a younger him in a way that he remembered how he always filled that void with his wacky and no care attitude.
    Also by the way since Patty turned 18 in dmc5 and was 8 in the anime that means in the anime he was 33-35 since he's 43-45 in dmc5. Nero is 19 in dmc4 and is in his mid twenties in dmc5 making him 24-26 and since Dante was 38 during the events of dmc4.

    I never viewed it that way I always thought that as much as Dante and Vergil for it they would never kill each other, it was like their way of showing love without saying it, but I also feel like Virgil Hill back in that fight especially seeing how he one shot him afterwards

    I think the reason Nero kicked both Dante and Vergils asses is because they just went through a big fight with each other, and were in there 40's, not exactly at there prime anymore

    I'm sure someone ha already said it, but DmC isn't irrelevant. We wouldn't of had the popoff of Vergil using Dopelganger without DmC, also there are lines in Dante and Vergil's 5 fight that directly reference things said in DmC. Also Vergil's illusory realm when fought as Urizen for the last time is a reference to how the demon realm looked in DmC. There's a bunch of other visual themes that are brought over, and even a reference to the Soda Mundus had people drinking in DmC in an S rank photo in 5.
    There's actually a lot of homage to what DmC tried to do, it may have failed horribly but it seems the creators still respect the attempt and the talent that went into it

    DMC is actually not irrelevant at all. It made a HUGE contribution to the series as its the first dmc in which u can switch styles and weapons on the fly, mid combo. Also got this cool lil feature which lets u start a combo in one style or weapon and finish the special move with a different style or weapon without switching your button pattern. Its also the first dmc with a true teleport move not just a jump cancel. U can literally fight bloody palace and never touch the ground. All those features carried over and were expanded upon in dmc5. So that persons comment was accurately irrelevant in its inaccuracy.

    Personally, my ship was always Dante x Lucia. Especially the ending with her waiting for him. She and Trish have a similar backstory, but they follow exactly opposite paths. Lucia was obviously actually romantically interested in Dante and him helping her come to terms with her demonic heritage, only goes to show her how much more blessed she was to have lived her life as a human. Meanwhile, Trish had to discover her humanity, she needed to leave and find herself and come to terms with what it meant to be an individual.
    Lucia already has those things.The thing she was looking for was someone else to sure up the life she'd chosen and I see that as being Dante. I agree with you about not seeing Dante taking a relationship seriously, but I think Lucia is serious enough for both of them and probably way more emotionally honest than Dante's used to in friends or family for that matter. She's open, earnest, and like most of the people in his life, dangerous enough to keep up should things go bad.

    4:53 That's exactly what I'm thinking.. It could explain why deep down he's calling himself a subhuman in his theme song. Because he truly identifies as a human, but even if he's willing it, he knows that he will never be a true human being. His demonic half make him "worse" in his opinion

    Don’t forget that Dante and Vergil just had an epic battle and if you remember back in Devil may cry 3 because of how hard Dante and Vergil battle, Arkham who said if Vergil was in tiptop condition he be able to cut him to confetti let alone Dante and a lady both also be in there only for Arkham to completely fondle all three. That combined with Nero being more human because he has human blood constantly feeding his demonic power more so than Dante and Vergil he has a better potential I don’t think he’s stronger than either one yet but he is catching up to them very quickly.
    Also I have proof that all three of them are stronger than Sparda.
    First of all in the first game when Dante obtains sparda’s sword he becomes the perfect image of his father against Mundos on top of that he does more damage to Mundos the whet sparda did, sparda left a gaping hole in Mundos’ torso meanwhile Dante left him as a head
    Second of all in devil may cry 2 argosax was too powerful for sparda to kill otherwise you would think he done it but he didn’t he had a seal him away... Dante beat him in his human form
    Hopefully by now I’ve already explained how Dante has far surpassed his father now let’s move to the fifth game
    Urizen completely dominates Dante even with the sparda also a lot of people don’t know this but when Dante was in a month coma The tree was indirectly feeding him human blood that’s why Dantes hair was so bloody when v found him it was from his body absorbing the blood that combined with Dante absorbing the rebellion and sparda it’s pretty safe to say he is far surpassed his father and he fights on par with Vergil so that also means he has surpassed his father as well
    Finally let me get to Nero during Nero’s second fight with urizen he is able to put a scratch on him something that Dante could not do that combined with getting his Devil trigger I personally believe that Nero is right behind his father and uncle and the only reason he was able to beat them was because they were tired even if it was just a little it was enough for him to be able to beat them I also believe Vergil is the strongest considering Nero hit Dante once and Dante was basically like screw it you 2 fight I don’t care meanwhile Vergil has a completely separate fight with Nero makes me think he is the strongest even if it’s just a little above Dante
    So in conclusion all three of them had surpassed sparda and Nero beat Dante and Vergil because they were already fighting each other and used up at least some of their power enough to the point where Nero could beat them
    So for all the haters saying it makes no sense Nero is able to beat them it makes perfect sense
    Also I wanted to clear up that some people say because Dante does the same animation as his father when he’s in his sin devil trigger that means he’s as strong as his father only for five seconds at a time and I just wanted to clear up that that’s not the case at all
    Also feel free to spread this to as many people as you can who are fans of the series you don’t even have to credit me I just want people to be aware because I love this series that much
    Also I have a theory since we don’t know that much about the rebellion that Sparda created it for Dante sacrificing what was left of his power and because of that he passed away shortly after but I could be entirely wrong maybe there’s A comic or interview or something about the rebellion I just don’t know about

    I hate when people try to defend DMC2 and justify how boring Dante is in the game. It's not for any story reason. It's most likely because the original (still unknown) director thought comedic Dante was annoying. He doesn't mention Vergil and for absolutely no reason he flips a coin whenever he has to help someone. Cool concept but what the fuck, he might as well be a different character.
    The most damning evidence against this "depressed Dante theory" is at the end of DMC1, after Vergil and Mundus are killed, Dante is just as happy and cheerful as he was when the game started, if not more because Trish is his partner. In fact he seemed more sad about Trish dying than his own brainwashed brother lol.
