Alanis = no auto-tuning, edits, retakes, filters... Just pure talent ❤
her look now reminds me if my HR manager
Just a little reverb.
No tiktok, no sound boards, no computer modifying her voice JUST STRAIGHT TALENT.
Canada's Own.
Good lord
She looks so calm sitting there with her modest suit while she sings like a beast. What a talent.
Really....a totally best...her tune Is perfect!!!!! What a voice! She and just two acuoustic guitars!
And while she says those cute lyrics hahaha
Yeah! I was thinking to myself the whole video “damn, it’s so effortless!”
feel that
Poise
Here in 2024.... Alanis PERIOD
The fact that her voice is so powerful while sitting, the audacity
💯💯💯Seriously!!! Perfection🤞🏻
Paul McCartney & John Lennon rehearsed and recorded much of their stuff sitting down.
Pure audacity!
That's a very good point.
AND while pregnant.
Her voice is so insanely crisp. Every note is calculated. What a badass woman.
She won FIVE Grammys for this one album. She’s insanely talented.
Holy Sh-t! Freaking incredibly controlled voice.
they added a lot of reverb (echo)
The controlllll
Uncle Joey screwed up
She didn’t lose a bit of her voice. Impressive
Alvar C it's called good technique;)
Alvar C she didn’t lose a bit of those looks!! She’s still HOT!!
Also aged like not at all. She's STUNNING
Yep...album-quality vocals, 20 years later.
well. she is not 70 years old.
And people don't understand why my generation looks down on auto-tuning. This is a VOICE.
I'm still rocking Alanis in 2024 🎶
Twenty some years later.. and she somehow sings the best version yet? Love it.
She got better with time. Meanwhile Howard is completely unrecognizable.
I agree ☝️
Her acoustic versions are ALL 🔥!
Agree
Professional singers voices get better with age if taken care of
No autotunes, no second voices, no procative dresses. Just sheer talent and feeling. Absolutely love that.
Would a provocative dress really matter 😂
true talent
I think those are all stylistic choices, I guarantee you she completely respects and understands the point of vocal effects in music, the mixing can make or break an entire album, and it’s a huge part of how it sounds.
She is full of soul in that magical voice. Definitely one of the best ever!!!!
@@2012swimmn It would draw attention away from the performance I guess.
I honestly think this is probably the best version of this song, her voice is absolutely incredible and all these years later she still looks amazing!
She hit the wall pretty hard not long after this...
@@spectrumofreality Everybody does. She had a tough pregnancy and other issues I think. Oh well. Shit happens. This is beyond beautiful though.
She's beautiful
@@spectrumofreality😅
The spark that inspired her to write this song is clearly not gone.
I was just thinking that. You can see it in her eyes still...
She sings it with more sadness than anger now. Her perspective has matured.
All these years I didn’t know it was uncle Joey
Yup uncle Joey from full house lol (Dave Coulier)
Just imagine the backs shredded since
She looks and sounds incredible!
Agreed, always 100% ...💞💽🎶🎵🎼🎤
She is aging well.
Megan D'Alessandro hasn’t aged
Megan D'Alessandro Right!? Does she ever age?
Seriously!!
Her voice control is fucking amazing!
As amazing as Alanis is on this, the guitartists deserve some credit. They played impeccably which gave this version such a great sound.
Agreed! Awesome composition for this!
Comes from an under paid musician...I feel your pain...js
They are ALL awesome!!!
seriously...i'd be sh**ting my pants, thinking.. Oh my gawd...oh my gawd..its Alanis... LOL
She isnt even trying hard... its just so natural and electrifying!
Seamlessly 🗣🎤👑
She's not trying at all. that's what is amazing
She sounds exactly the same as she did in the 90s! Incredible!
Actually she's better..
Holy crap that’s powerful…. So angry, so controlled…. Terrifying. Well done you.
That controlled anger is even scarier than the rage she had in the 90s.
can we take a moment to apprecaite the amazing guitarists too?! complex and interesting chords and melodies that add so much richness to the simple base chords
Gives me Alice in chains unplugged vibes😊
The one with the nylon-stringed guitar is JULIAN, son of Fusion pioneer LARYY CORYELL
Uncle Joey doesn’t deserve such a cool break up song.
Going into Stern's studio and belting out a song like that can't be easy. Alanis hasn't lost a thing.
Especially in the Morning, well I assume it's being performed in the Morning.
at least she hadn’t in 2015...
absolute genius
@@relicman 6 or 7 am.
This was 3 years ago but point taken. She is still very good.
What an absolute masterpiece.... And she performs so effortlessly. I'm blown away.
Gorgeous voice, she sounds better today than it did in the 90s
For sure
yep and the acoustic setup suits it
It doesn't though does it....
It’s not better then the 90s but she is still very good
Killed it back in 1995 and 24 years later still killing it in 2019 !!
Frank Can you read? She did this 4 years ago during her 2015 Stern Show visit. Not in 2019
M Mill chill man
@Frank for real and it's now 2019 this has to be one of the best versions I've ever heard live or otherwise WOW..
@@mmill6505 I'm sure frank can read. If u can read certainly @Frank can read smh good grief ever think maybe he still like so many of us still listen to her and buy her stuff... And the dingbat award goes to Mil.
This is from 2015. It's in the title.
Alanis is like a wine. She has only improved with time. She looks and sounds amazing!
I don't drink wine but I hear a bout it! That she does!!!
She wrote this when she was just emerging from adolescence. Seeing/hearing her sing this now shows how we all carry the scars from those years forever.
Uncle Joey will do that to ya.
That's what I hear. She's willing to talk brutally honest which isn't normal for a woman . Willing to do it years ago. Willing to do in the present
20 something years later i still see what i found in her singing. Pure talent.
Gotta give credit to anyone who can make the lyrics "would she go down on you in a theater" look classy.
derp
It's ironic :)
Hahah
Ddarke11 Joey Gladstone broke her heart
The best is when artists don't change their lyrics because of the "times". Alanis is amazing live.
Her voice is like a fine wine! She looks and sounds better than ever!
I totally agree, God her voice is badass
Her voice really has gotten better with age.
From a cracked bottle
Gives me goose bumps every time I hear her sing. Every time!
She Sounds Incredible
She sounds exactly the same as on the record. True talent.
Even better, I'd say!
Her guitarists…. What a killer arrangement.
Awesome
Nobody is mentioning the guitarists. EXCELLENT job.
jesus she is insanely skilled. She's just sitting there pure chill like she's giving a talk about local farmer market economics and commerce. So such a natural fluid singer
The fact that she probably sang that song 80 000 times I'm sure helps a lot, she's probably sick of singing it
haha that’s the most amazing description for it 😂
Probably still thinks of the asshole that dumped her to inspire the song.
The dude who dumped her who this song about is Joey from Full House
Hahaha
There are very few artists that sound exactly like the record when they sing live. She’s amazing.
Yah. let alone more than 20 years later too!
@@0verload whilst sat down
BAM!
Very few got her talent and skills!
I'm just mesmerized by the power of her voice and how she makes it look so effortless. No gasps for air, and hardly a breath here or there. Mind blowing. 🤯
She has probably sung this several hundred times, and just went through the motions. You can tell that when she performed the song this time, she really tapped into what she felt when she wrote it.
She’s singing with so much damn power that she has to face away to avoid red lining that mic and possibly blowing it up lol
Lol the engineers like look.. theres no limiter or any fucking thing that can tame your range without squeezing it lol
7 year old me rocking out to this like I knew what she meant 😂
Funny 😁
Chris Flux Right!!! 😂😂 I’m sat here now like, so this is what I was singing?
Born in 1989 or 1990? 😆 me too!
Lmao facts
Haha I was 24
She’s the epitome of Woman! Very Beautiful!
You need to see an eye doctor. She's average.
not only is her tone absolutely on point but she is her own vocal leveler with those perfectly timed turns away from the mic when she ups the gain.bravo!
That's what i told myself. She's so, so, so good (talent AND technic).
Holy crap she can sing, amazing voice.
Honest question. Have you ever heard her? If not... Look up this song history. You may be very surprised who it was about. Shes an incredible talent. Been in the game for years.
Yes. Check her out on unplugged and Hard Rock Live, and Woodstock.👍
Dale Fusco I second that. ✌🏽
millennial?
She's always had that incredible voice!!😀
Dressed like HR doing an interview for a law firm but singing a song that makes grown men uncomfortable lol she's still got it! Alanis 2020 lol
Lmao I happen to be a HR manager.. And I love this song!
How does it make us uncomfortable?
@@andrewmcl83 It doesn't. He's just fishing for compliments to try and get laid - it's a beta male thing. He's probably a male feminist too.
The song is staggeringly beautiful and speaks elequently the heart break that a woman feels over her lost love. There's nothing in this song that should make any man who respects and loves his partner feel uncomfortable.
Uncomfortable ? I couldn't be more turned on
This is called maturing, man. Looks funny, though. Agree absolutely. Funny but still incredible:))
Her voice is incredible
This version makes me appreciate this song even more.
She comes from a time when artists actually sung their own songs and performed them live. She still sounds like the recording.
You make it sound like she's a 70s artist. The 90s still had the same mix of talent and shite. Hell, take the friggin' Spice Girls for example.
Like Milli Vanilli?
@@j800r Bro stop. The 90s had the same mix as what decade? The current one? Gtfoh with that bullshit. For every silly band there were 5 brilliant ones in the 90s. It's not even CLOSE to the 90s talent wise. Not close. Even the shit ones wetr interesting.
Even Alannis at this age shits on all the young singer songwriters nowadays. And she wasn't even the best of the 90s. So just stop with the bullshit. Gonna love to see how these artists nowadays age. Will be comical, if anyone even remembers them.
El34 Glow straight facts
Her voice should be a National Treasure of Canada.
Yep
It is here:)
What about CELINE DION
Steve Walters it is
My personal favorite Canadian
Perfect performance
You can still see the pain in her face and eyes. A absolutely amazing performance.
Alanis Morissette is one of those truly rare performers whose talent shines through always. No gimmicks, no stage show, no props..... just truly talented music. Thank you Alanis.
I have to say ...this is probably better than the record !!
I can see that. I feel the record is slightly better, personally. You can see the emotion here, which is great, but I just thought the raw anger in the original made me feel it more. Both fantastic, though.
Dude the bass line in the track tho...so funky. Thanks flea.
Amazing
It certainly gives it a whole different emotional dimension. This has a much sadder feel to it. It's like the contempt so apparent in the original has healed but the scar remains.
@@wheresatari6242 Both are amazing. Knowing why these lyrics are sung, say more.
I can't stop watching this. What an absolute tour de force.
She can still sing! No lowering the key, no autotuned, or masking it with instruments. Just beautiful singing.
This was incredible. Her voice is so unique and beautiful.
"Jagged Little Pill" one of the greatest female records of ALL TIME. Yeah, I said it. Bad ass! Musicians today should take notes.
1 of the greatest albums period, not just female.
Definitely
female?
No need to couch it as female....it's a fantastic record full-stop.
JG Snave it’s really not though, is it. You should probably listen to more female artists before reaching that assumption.
That voice hasn't changed in over 20 years. Amazing talent.
Beautiful
It has. It’s become sharper and more piercing.
I respect any singer that understands the power of 2 great guitar by your side. Sometimes that is all you need.
The guitarist on the left is living his absolute best life! What an epic performance from all of them!
he is amazing. does anyone know his name?
Underrated dual guitar work
Yes, those guys were fantastic. Well done recognizing them.
Agree. Guitar work was amazing.
Matt Aronowitz and dude on the classical guitar is rocking five strings lol missing the A string
Matt, given the frequency with which the word gets thrown around these days can you explain just how this guitar work is 'underrated'?
Such an intimate interpretation, mesmerizing
I find her more attractive now than I did when I was young and she first broke out. She’s aged very nicely!!
Swear i was thinking same thing
Like wine
Matt D that was my first thought
Yes she did
Matt D - Totally Agree - I think she looks better now
Just awesome in 2023
OMG......speachless‼️‼️‼️. Masterpiece......❤❤❤
Her vibrato on the words “you” and “bear” gives me goosebumps they’re incredible
as well as "No"
Her tonal control alone is legendary.
UNBELIEVABLE
SO GOOD.
WHAT A VOICE
❤❤❤❤❤
Song is 25 years old....She looks exactly the same... Holy Shit, how did she pull that off.
No chance. She looks way way better now. She is stunning.
Didnt party
I said the same damn thing. Holy shit!! It is awesome to see against all the plastic surgery messes out there.
she is like a goddess
She looks better
Amazing! You were my wife's favorite when she was alive! I literally felt her holding me while you were singing, I still have goose bumps ❤
Sorry for your loss.... peace.
Damn dude...:(
Sorry for your loss Bud.
My condolences
Awe man, that cut me bro. So continue listening to her music and keep those hugs until you join her here after my brother. God bless you.
Stunning-Song and Woman..🙏🏻🙏🏻
greatest song of the century.
my god she has one of the most brilliant voices a human has ever possessed
Her voice, and Celine Dion such a clear crisp voice. The only word that comes to Mind is CLEAN!. Such a clean clear singing voice. Love them!!
The best of anyone
Yes.
Amy Winehouse has competition in my eyes for sure.
@@shoruqhamdan2215 Why did you name Céline Dion? They are talented in their own ways, even if Céline has something more but they're different styles. Cèline now is ill
She has crazy good voice control - this is outstanding. Beautiful rendition of the song.
Rob Warren? I know a Rob Warren... Stockton California perhaps ??
That’s an absolute pure talent. God bless her! ❤️
I was wondering what happened to God after dogma. I guess she started singing.
Her voice can be used to tune a piano.
Swear she gets sexier as she gets older
Love her
Her voice is stunningly beautiful. One of the best female singer song writers ever.
Those words cut like a razor. What a great expression of hurt.
Sounds more like rage to me because she was hurt.
She seems to be the kind of girl you have fun with, then dump.
The new girl, her ex-boyfriend now has, is the type of girl you wife up.
Couldn't agree more, 25 years later, the lyrics and the music sound as if they could've been recorded yesterday. Damn, that sounds like I'm old.
I didn't do anything wrong and she's still making me feel guilty.
Brilliant!!! Needs more likes!
That's Awesome! 😂
Haha
Are you sure?
Lmao
Had everything. Technically perfect, captivating, didn't miss a note, perfect tempo, incredible breath control, memorising!
She could never fail. Such an amazing artist!
At first I was wondering why she kept turning her head to the side at certain times, but then realized that her mic control is phenomenal. It looks funny, but it produces good audio.
Seems like she's done that song a few times eh?
William Mullins yeah, and the fact that she wasn’t holding the mic or able to adjust its distance meant she had to compromise
That's what it's all about. Most people wouldn't know why she does that. Touche
We call it "self compression"... not really wha it is but it is the sign of a skiled vocalist
Plus remember most of the viewers dont see the vids they just hear it on the radio
The sexiest thing about this is her mic technique. Extraordinary professionalism.
Lovely, best version ever 👍🏻
I have serious goose bumps! She is amazing
Damn she's doing way more than just singing. She is putting her soul on display and it's beautiful.
average joe's 💯 per cent. It’s enthralling and also a little unnerving. Absolutely fantastic.
Agree totally
average joe's, She is singing about what I went through when I split with my beautiful girlfriend some years ago. Sadly my wounds have never healed.
She looks better than she ever has..very beautiful!
Still only 41 when this aired.
Nowadays we're stuck with the likes of Beyonce. Dang, I miss the 90's. Yes, I can go back and listen to stuff from that era, but the soundtrack that accompanied the era was a symptom of the era. I miss the root from whence the symptoms sprung. That root is now dead. The thing about the 90's is this: I knew it was special AS I experienced it-------in real time. How often do we take for granted what will one day be considered "the good ole days"------while living it? In the 90's I knew it was the good ole days------and I desperately miss it.
I guess the lesson is this: Live each moment to its fullest. For with great probability, the here and now (that you take for granted) may very well one day be fondly remembered as "the good ole days". Embrace it.
Shes great! Timeless really
I know I've seen this clip over 20 times. I predict at least 20 more!
The nostalgia is hitting me strong.
so is the kush
Forgot how much i loved this absolute gem of a woman. Her voice is one of a kind, and so is she. They just don`t make them like this anymore. God i miss the 90s.
Yup
The 90s was such a good era
I agree ☝️
Im not crying,,, it's just a dirt in my eye...
She’s so good!
She is SO talented. Jagged Little Pill is one the best albums of the 90s. hope Gen Z will appreciate her 🙏🙏
I promise you, this Gen-Xer does!
Gen X definitely does.
Its the best album, along with No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom! Truly brilliant albums!
As a gen z I certainly certainly do me and my mum completely rock out in the car to alanis all the time
I think its one of the best albums ever, not just the 90s.
I like how she sings so loud she can't sing into he mic. That's a crazy powerful voice.
That's completely normal when the vocalist is an actual singer...
She has amazing control
Ann Wilson does it. Their voices are so powerful they prevent the mic from distorting.
Perfection. Absolutely perfect. She is so blessed!
She's AWESOME!!!!
The bluntness of those lyrics really made it real. At least she wasn't afraid to just be honest and raw about stuff. That's a big part of what made her great. Her voice has not lost a thing either. Impressive stuff.
Sounds like she got dumped again right before she sang this song. Raw perfection.
Really??wow
Steve Taylor 😂
A true artist
Her ex even told the press that she wrote this song cuz of him.
Wow tha F***!!! She really felt it! Loved that a lot!!!
There’s nobody better
Her voice is just pure power, resonant and impeccable. An absolute vocal prowess unmatched. Love it
Aging is not the process of making you old and ugly, aging is the process of making you bold and beautiful......
i love how alanis uses the microphone as an instrument. moving forward and back, using head swipes, and singing into different parts of the room for very very subtle effects. shes such a great artist
Someone else said something similar and I would have never caught it if they hadn't pointed it out. I'm also not a musician so theres that lol.
She moves like that to adjust to the sheer volume coming out of her mouth. Not so much for 'effects' but to not clip the signal and keep a consistent level. She's a pro that knows how to 'work the mic'
McCallos One that’s real how you are supposed to use a microphone but new artists don’t know how to do that because they use auto tune
McCallos One - all decent musicians do this. It’s not for any particular effect other than to not be too loud. If you notice, she moves her head away when she hits loud and high notes. You see the same with rock artists. When they go for the high-energy notes, they move away from the mic because the voice carries more. If they stayed close to the mic, it would distort or just be way too loud for the listener.
That is the sign of a seasoned and accomplished vocalist...she is one of the most underrated female singers of my time...she should still be making millions she is better than beyonce and all of destinies children and Kelly Clarkson and these hacks here in the states. This woman can sing better than all of them out together om their best days. She just wasn't going to sell out like them.
Goosebumps december 2022 …….❤
A masterpiece. What a song writer and song deliverer. I've smiled the exact same way every single time I've heard THAT line for almost 30 years now! Genius.
What is THAT line you talked about?
What's that line?
@@tookan 2:22
We got the best of everything in the 90's.
So true. Perfect blend of the Old school mixed with some technology breakthroughs. Magic blend. Now everyone can see behind the curtain at every minute of the day which has taken away the magic and the ups and downs. People don't get as board but they also don't really get as excited about things anymore. They say their excited but really it's like meh then back to their phones.
@@mnb9162 Yeah...I guess you guys overlooked the incredible music of the 70's and the most diverse and talented decade of the 80's. The 90's brought the death of actual music. Not saying the 90's did not have some incredible stuff....but it ended music as it was.
@@mnb9162 I agree 100%. I am 46 yrs old and I feel technology as great as it is has made people especially the youth lazy and unappreciative of alot of things. Social Media has brought out the worst in people and it's a shame and it will probably only get worse 20 yrs from now.
