I knew the people who signed and developed Jewel at her label. They were really excited about launching her album. I went to see one of her early performances, she did not disappoint. Very talented woman, so connected to the essence of music.

I remember when this was brand new on MTV in the 90's and I've been a fan of Jewel since. What a beautiful and free spirit. Foolish Games is my favorite song of hers but this has nostalgia for me now.
How is in my 16 and I fell in love with her when I first seen her her and Alanis morissette were probably the 2 best at the time cuz especially Jewel because she plays guitar every song that is very and I can't believe she straighten that too that made her some cuter than any other musician I've ever seen or any other woman I love this girl

Jewel is so fortunate to have grown up in a rural area when she did. It definitely made her who she is. Cell phones were huge then and only the really rich could afford them. Plus they were huge and came with a briefcase lol.
Rural areas didn't get cable, you got the 3 channels on TV (NBC, CBS and ABC) if you were lucky. If your family could even afford a satellite dish, they were the size of an outbuilding lol. Kids had to entertain themselves and that definitely fostered creativity.
Most importantly though was definitely the no cell phones like we have today, thus no social media madness. If she was 16 now, we wouldn't have a Jewel.
Fortunate might be a strong word, it was physically tough, they lived in Alaska with no electricity, no running water, building everything themselves, hunting and collecting their own food, and when her father became abusive she left home and was homeless for a while.
Funny I was thinking about making the same comment. This capability and persona doeSnt develop spending hours a week glued to a device!
