      It was not Dave Coulier.
Alanis has stated that herself and even a quick Google search will say the same thing. She has never openly stated who the song was about, if anyone, but it's been a well known fact for years that it wasn't Dave.

@@MrDsabourin and you can’t forget Dave Navarro playing guitar.
It was an LA writing session. They bring in a bunch of hot shots riders and musicians and pair them up in separate rooms so they come back. They play they have the artist and the artist chooses the songs they wanna do. It’s formula.
Dave Navaro and Flea got paired together and jammed until they came up with us song. But flea got re-recorded because he was too sloppy.

I was working in LA when this song was played for the first time on KROQ on the morning show with Kevin and Bean. They introduced Alanis, interviewed her a bit before they played that song. I was commuting to work on the 405 from Hermosa Beach to Century City. I almost had an accident because mind was so throughly blown. When I got to the office garage I sat there for a half hour stunned by the way that song caused waves of electricity through my spine and out the top of head. What a great time in my life that was.

I don’t think people understand as a performer, how hard it is to hit every single one of those words without missing a single word! When the breakdown happed, that was really her first breath of air. I’m not saying that she’s not breathing throughout the performance, but when the breakdown hits that’s her first chance to catch her breath. I was in a 90s hip-hop metal band as the lead singer so I can appreciate good talent as good as anyone. As a teenager she was one of my favorite musicians. BTW, at the time I listened to shit like Deftones, Korn and Fear Factory and I was also listening to her album on repeat. She rocks!

Alanis Morissette is one of the acts with that 90s authenticity. We were dished up so much real stuff like this that the late 90s had a counter movement of syrupy pop music like Hanson, Britney, the Spice Girls and a bunch of other stuff. The early to mid 90s was great while it lasted!

But for some kids under 18 when they started. They were talented. Also helps my first crush liked them. But as a fan of what I consider good music check out some other Hanson songs and albums. Their lyrics are well written. I’m no super fan but I like them. If mmm bop comes on, I’ll turn it up 😆.

I watched this live. You knew it was a music changing moment, but I didn't even remember the singer. All I could focus on was the drummer and the bass player. What a hyperactive rhythm section. They instantly elevated the playing field (pun intended)

Came upon this on happenstance. What a great appearance on the show! They literally couldn't have sounded any better than they did. And I love that she was just like, "They can mute it out if they want to, but I'mma say it regardless.," & dropped the F bomb on national television. She is SUCH a BOSS! There's no one else like her.
I was lucky enough to see a show when she was on her Jagged Little Pill tour. I for sure knew that her talent was unique & that she was a huge deal, but at that age (20) I didn't compute that she would end up influencing & have a major impact on the female music industry.
I'm seeing her live in July. First time I'll have seen her live since the Jagged Little Pill tour. Can't wait!
