I’ll tell you I nearly DIED hearing the instrumental arrangement to this song in Bridgerton! 💀 Now we are getting THE Alanis Morissette herself singing to said instrumental! This will be noted in my will that I want this version played at my funeral! 👏🏽
*If you're still watching and listening her voice in 2022 you're such a legend!!*
Me too I want this at my funeral/wedding/birth of my children
💯 agree
I sang the lyrics so hard when I heard it in Bridgerton
What a strangely jovial and morbid juxtaposition of a statement to announce 😂
The fact that her voice has changed so little in 30 years is just mind blowing.
She still keeps her distance from the mic because her voice is still THAT POWERFUL.
Agreed. A very good point. I also felt that, after re-listening to the original version of “You Oughta Know” by Ms Morissette, the singer sounded outraged and extremely wounded about her lover abandoning her. The anger and rage that the singer made me feel was extraordinary. The new version with soft violins and a very emotional but quieter vocal performance made me feel wounded and deeply hurt. I cried after listening to both versions of this song by one of the most gifted singers EVER. ♥️
Well, to be fair this is extremely edited, her voice has waned a lot over the years but she's still amazing.
Agreed. Voices change and mature. But Alanis' has kept her voice in prime condition. Not an easy task at all.
why does she sound like she's chewing her tongue with every note?
You Oughta Know comes on in any bar and suddenly everyone’s working through some heavy Stuff they thought they’d buried. Unparalleled impact. Jagged Little Pill is one of the all time great albums.
😆😆😆 yep, we start feeling our teenage angst again
FUKYA it is.
Other Pens,
Agreed. Along with Thriller and Joshua Tree.👍😎
The greatest! I listened to it the other day…. The hidden a cappella song in the end, I always forget it is there, and always love it 😍
@OtherPens absofuckinglutely!
This arrangement is sending me to heaven and Alanis is God. Honestly, I would pay stupid money to watch her perform her entire ‘Jagged Little Pill’ album like this. There’s something about the elegance and propriety of the strings that make her biting lyrics hit so much harder. I love it and I want more!
OH you and me both! She is one of the only people I would do anything to get tickets to see in person. I lived her Jagged Little Pill through my 20s when it came out !
Jay and silent Bob movie she is God.😇😊
@@beentwolong11 You mean "Dogma"
Agreed. @netflix get on it please
I think her MTV unplugged album is close to what you're looking for.
Her voice hasn’t aged at all. It sounds just as good as when she first started out.
I have to disagree with you a little, I think if anything her voice has just gotten better with time.
Her latest album Such Pretty Forks in the Road might actually be even better than the outstanding Jagged Little Pill.
it has gotten better, true fact
The voice is STILL and forever will be 🤌🏾
This is my favorite performance of her
I can't believe our luck that Alanis decided to perform this version of her song! Absolutely beautiful! 🥰
We need to be able to purchase this!
“Jagged Little Pill” best album/cd EVER! PERIOD!👏🏽 Alanis still can’t be touched👸🏻
Ugh! Utterly obsessed with this version and the fact that it’s basically a Kate & Anthony music video 🖤
Unbelievable that uncle Joey can inspire this type of unparalleled art.
The union of two masterpieces: Bridgerton and Alanis.
Alanis.. I retroactively respect her more.
What a talent!!
The older I get, the more profound and meaningful the lyrics become. When you're young you hear the music, when you're young older you hear the words. Thankyou!!
I was content with just the instrumental… but the Instrumental and alanis is everything I never knew I needed.
More than 25 years after its release. You Oughta Know is a timeless classic. Thank you Alanis and everyone at Netflix. This song belongs in the National Library of Congress. Forever grateful for its words and music. 😌🎧🎼
Do not have words. Omg this is amazing. Alanis Morissette is untouchable. In my mind, there’s few songs that capture the essence of what true desperation, devastation & heartbreak from a tumultuous emotionally manipulative/abusive relationship & the aftermath of an affair feels like. This is one of them.
*MASTER PIECE IN HISTORY OF MUSIC*
This woman still touches my heart every time. Alanis, thanks for just be!!
Ugh, been listening to Alanis for almost 30 years. Still a goddess.
JLP saved my life 💗
Okay, so it's been a week since I watched Bridgerton. Wow, oh my gosh, I was on my way to recovering from this incredible season and this rendition just set me back!!! Lol I can't. Kanthony and this song lives rent free in my mind
Idem
THIS IS SO FRICKING GOOD I CANNOT DEAL WITH THIS and when they cut to the actual Kanthony scenes IT HAD ME DYING
Everything she touches turn into diamond, including one of her most iconic songs!
I absolutely LOVE this version! When I heard it in Bridgerton I felt like that meme with Leonardo Dicaprio pointing at the TV! Lmao fr though since the 90s I love this song and now she gave us a different version of it and I love it even more. And I loved season 2 as well! 🖤🖤
I named my daughter after this woman. I grew up to my mother listening to her as she got ready at night before going out & I was supposed to be asleep in my room. I was 5. It’s crazy the things you remember with music involved…my daughter is now 8 1/2 & im going to be 33 April 19th ♥️
❤️
I'm 22 and my daughter is 15 months and I named her after Alanis Morrisette too!! */Ironically/*, her middle name is Rain. It's so cool finding someone else who found her so influential even though there's a good ten years between us!!
Damn, you're both babies lol
Me too
a famous singer in the Philippines, Morissette Amon, is named after Alanis Morissette 💖
I didn’t plan on watching season two of Bridgerton but this rendition of You Oughta Know got me running to Netflix right now!!!
Same!!
omg this is me, lol
Do you like this season?
I already watched the 2 season and hearing this makes me want to rewatch it. 🤣🤣
I just about died when they used the instrumental for this song, it was so perfect, thank you Alanis for adding your beautiful voice
Jesus Christ, actual goosebumps. It makes me so happy that Alanis is still relevant and still being an artist :)
When I tell you I was screaming when I realized Bridgerton included this instrumental in the show !! Ughhh.....Shonda come thruuuu ! So goooood! Alanis slayyyys as usual
Are OG Alanis fans not instantly taken to her grammy performance of this song. It's flawless
Flawless
ooh will look for this
Her Grammy performance of this is one of my favorite musical performances of all time. So much quiet power and emotion just sitting in a chair.
@@maryann1907 yesss, I found it online and it’s just as you said 🙏🏽
@@hellobecky84 isn't it!
I'm obsessed with this version. Alanis is amazing and I love that she recorded this.
What a voice. I've never heard anything quite like it.
When she made eye contact with the camera I seriously felt her look into my soul. I wanted to cry because of an overwhelming deepest feeling of guilt. Yet I’ve never cheated or made false promises to her…yet I felt her agony as if I had caused it. Alanis has talents that are truly unrivaled. She stirs feelings that I haven’t felt before.
The queen has blessed us and we are not worthy. 😭
The feeling this instrumental brings was perfect for it's placement in the show. It's absolutely brilliant.
Her voice sounds so rich in this. Almost like age has added a layer of velvet underneath. SO beautiful.
So beautifully put. Your comment about age adding “ layer of velvet “ to her phenomenal voice is pure poetry.
Over 20 years, I just grooved to the song not knowing the words 🤣🤣🤣
Well damn
Obsessed with this.
Ok, can we talk about how fantastic this is? The use of this in the series and now Alannis performing it. It really just doesn’t get better.
There is something about this particular arrangement that hits just a bit deeper with every lyric she sings. Loved hearing the instrumental version. But her voice is like a hot knife on butter. Just cutting right to the heart of her fans. Love Alanis, loved this song growing up.
This album Jagged Little Pill was the first female artist album I ever paid for and will forever be the best female album I ever buy
Sublime, chilling, iconic and emotionally tripping. It just doesn't get any better. Thank you Alanis!
I never really understood this song till i just heard this version. And GAWD DAMN I LOVE IT ALL OVER AGAIN. Just thought you should know.
Really? What’s there NOT to understand? 🤔
@@sash1801 My brain didnt operate as most normal folks. Back in the day the song went fast and i couldnt really make out words in songs very well. Even though i still enjoyed the original it hit differently and more authentic this time around.
@@4CarbideGaming I see, great that now you can appreciate it then :)
@4Free Ok then you have to hear "My Humps" performed by Alanis. 🤣😎
Alanis voice and instrumental version of this song is a total masterpiece. I cant get out of it, its so emotional, touching my deepest feelings. Pure talent !
This is a masterpiece. God bless you, Ms. Morissette.
Wow, Alanis still making pure magic with her voice 🥰
The queen is as majestic as ever!
So talented 🥹💜
Her voice has such a hauntingly beautiful echo. It's almost mystical!!
Alanis' voiceeeeeeeeeeeee!
This is a genious idea. I love the Alanis Morissette's version, the instrumental version took my breath away and THIS is just cherry on the top, the best of the world. I mean I have goosebumps from Alanis voice and the orchestra accompanieng her....
I love this so much.
All these years later. I can tell you about the first time I heard Alanis singing. I have so enjoyed the evolution of her story telling thur songs. Truly, a gifted perspective of Love Loss and Forgiveness. Both, to herself and others. Not too forget the amazing people behind said music.
Just LOVE❤ Alanis !!
Wildest Dreams is definitely the soundtrack alone of s1. but S2 got so many songs that I cant choose which is the main theme song!!! And I could even associate other songs not included in soundtrack. s2 is indeed underrated. Love u kanthony!
But NETFLIX no one knows about this unique performance!! come on do your magic and promote it!!! Everything about this is perfect, and thanks for singing it for Bridgerton brilliant Alanis!
Alanis's voice, what a thing of beauty. I've been wavering on starting Season 2 but probably will on account of this.
You won't regret it
@@michellepreston9799 yeah, I’m hearing good things!
She is absolutely insane for this!
Hope she’s doing okay, Taylor Hawkins was her drummer for a while before joining Foo Fighters
Of course! I'm sure he played the drums on the original of this too
I’m sure she got over it in five mins. He no longer brings $$
@@mvdrider exactly and not now and that’s my point. Alanis didn’t bring in the doe for long. Taylor made big boy money for years.
@@mvdrider your below 80 is showing with every letter of that statement. Also he had also Taylor had ailments and was on medications that people live on until there 80. Doesn’t mean he died of the drugs in his system. He also had an enlarged heart. Big difference in a user and a junior. You can’t just simply put a man down because of drug use. Especially one that’s accomplished more than you ever will. 😂 your cute in the fact you think anyone cares? No one cares about Alanis after her first album. Not my fault or Taylor’s her talent ran dry. I’m not a fan of foo fighters. But you can’t deny that man was one of the most talented people to bet live. Sorry your but heart and have a terrible life. Maybe not be so obvious and make more friends? 🍻 you would like a failed wanna be musician. I can smell them from miles away.
✌️
Alanis Morissette Queen of Rock
Jagged Little Pill - The Abbey Road Sessions... I'm SO here for that!!
Loved the original. Loved the classical version. Love Alanis singing over the classical arrangement.
PERFECTION!!!! I geeked all the way out when I heard this arrangement in Bridgerton!
Wow. It's amazing how perfect she performs all of her songs. Legendary talent.
The version of this song. OMG. Just wow. I adore it.
Whoaaa... I heard this song as a kid. I didn't know the lyrics were so raw & explicit. Like DAMN !!!... This song is low-key savage.
Alanis Queen! Jagged a little pill is the album that I most heard in my life ❤️👸🏻
Just wow 🤩
Also, take THAT uncle Joey
I am with Lara Salas! I freaked out when I heard this during the ball and seeing Alanis seeing to the instrumental and a video and everything else .. this is just .. THANK YOU NETFLIX and Bridgerton ! Alanis is a goddess !!!
Can never get enough of Alanis! Chills!
But, why am I emotional seeing this?!…😭 Was anyone else tearing up by the end?
Jagged Little Pill was the first album I ever bought on CD when it first came out❤️ loved it then and love it now. This is an amazing version of this song... I may even like this better 😱
It's good, but angry Alanis is unmatched.
I freaking LOVE Alanis. She is still such a babe and that voice OMG. Be still my heart ❤️
Absolutely stunning! Would love to hear more of her classics revisited with these gentler string arrangements and more mature vocals. Imagine how Uninvited would sound, with those Eastern influences! 😍
She released an acoustic version of the Jagged Little Pill album in 2005 that has some nice stripped-down versions of some of her earlier hits! It’s on Spotify.
@@GotLostProductions Yes, and I adore that album! But this is even more stripped down and almost meditative.
Omg and no pressure over cappuccino? Would be absolutely THE BEST
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!! I don't watch Brigerton but this is my absolute favorite artist. She absolutely KILLED THIS!!!!!!
Gave me the chills hearing those high notes
She is just... incredible.
Tears... Alanis never ceases to amaze me.. gorgeous!!!
Greatest gift ever: than you Alanis, and whoever had the genius to invite Alanis to do this
Absolutely beautiful ❤️
Dear Mrs Alanis, I am starting to get annoy cause there's not a single time that I listen to you singing this song without serious goosebump.
One of the best albums ever made, man, women,or band, a, you otto know you are one of the greatest of all time 🍕
I overly love this❤️
Alanis is still out here doing her thing and I love it! One of my favorites of all times❤️✨
Quelle émotion dans sa voix !!
Quelles belles cordes !
Comment rester insensible ?🙏
I've never seen Bridgerton but I love Alanis. This strings version is hardcore
After all these years, hers voice is still magnificent.
She still sounds absolutely amazing
I am outraged that this doesn't have millions of views. People have no idea what their missing.
I love the striped down version and to see Alanis sing this with a string arrangement is just out of this world. Love the show too.
During my freshman year, in my dorm, living on the top floor, and this unknown person played Jagged Little Pill for weeks, the whole album, at lease twice a day. And me, steeped in the old greats, a gift from mom, R&B, Hip Hop and Rap, Classic Rock, and a sprinkle of the ever growing POP music? I get lost in the world of irony, rejection, seeing through guys who wanted to "Play golf with my ass," imagining "head-over-feet," and throwing the peace sign. Ah-Alanis Morrisette. -upon waking, getting ready for my first class, and when I returned, at twilight, to relax. Thank you, whoever you are. Thx, for giving me this life soundtrack for free, or at least until I relented and went to buy the CD, because I knew every word by then. Good to re-associated it with Bridgerton.
I can relate! I didn't know her at first, but my not-so-nice neighbor keep on playing her album back then and since then I became a fan!😁I am so proud of Alanis can you imagine her album JLP is one of the best-selling albums of all time!
YESSSS!! Come on Alanis!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This song is the incredible. It never gets old.
gives me goosebumps every time
Her musical genre was never my cup of tea, but she's always had an amazing talent that rages like a wildfire
Amazing job Netflix and Bridgerton crew on doing this version.
i absolutely love it.. i love how stripped back it is but still so powerful and vocals on point
All the drama, passion, hurt, projected in such a hauntingly beautiful way. One feels it all! So glad you are realized once again since your first recording of this song, 28 years ago! The instrumental background only adds to the whole package.
I love this artist
Such a beautiful and unique voice 🖤
Speechless. Alanis and Bridgerton a symbiotic blend of perfection. 🙏
The first time I heard this song I had been cheated on by a boyfriend and was vacuuming with headphones on. I turned the vacuum off when I registered what she was saying and my 15 year old mind opened up to the idea of being able to finally express my frustration and anger knowing that someone else felt that way too.
It still feels good all these years later to hear this and remember venting with this so many times over the years. I love this version and that she did this. Bittersweet memories for sure.
OMG!!!!! I kept replaying the soundtrack and now i found this!! Ahh so happy!! Kanthony, best love story ever!! Best chemistry ever!!! Request: make every soundtrack with the singer singing it... hahahah would be hard but pls consider it!!! Love bridgerton s2 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ok this is nothing less then perfect, I’m obsessed 🤩
I just love this woman.
her voice is TIMELESS 🔥🔥🔥
Wow, Alanis! Still shimmering and powerful 👏
