Hey so I bought a car but hadn’t changed ownership as owner had to post to get his plate removed and he has done so now but how do I tax the car as new logbook hasn’t come yet

Register the new car in your name wait for the log book to come back and then go online and swap your plates

that happened to me once took three weeks. I normally put plate on retention in seconds. but when I sold my last van they said some rubbish about it has not been taxed correctly in the last 5yr. I told them what's that got to do with me? FFS. yes your correct. you can put on. but can't get off the quick way. and a cheque lol and to make it even more stupid. it was a ex police vehicle 🤣😂🤣
Yeah sounds like a load of hassle, the system needs a big update in my opinion but hey ho there’s not much you can do just gotta go with the flow 💪🏻
My boss sold me his car and took off his private plate and put on the old one, but I tried buying insurance and it says registration not found, any help
Maybe it takes a while to revert on the system? Can you do a mot history search on the gov website with the current plate?
@@coswecan nah just checked it still only works with the old custom plate he had on there
That will be why then, it probs isn’t been updated on the system, if he did it the paper way via dvla it could take a while, if he did it online it is usually instant

Sorry, still dont undertstand this "in trade" thing. If I buy a car from a dealer, does that mean it's "in trade"? If not, what is "in trade"? Cheers.
“In trade” basically means for sale at a garage/dealership. So if you car has been on a four court for that time period before being sold etc

Im going through this today,i have owned the car for three years,they let me put my plate on now I'm getting told exactly the same, did you eventually get the plate off by postal method ?? its a joke when you phone up,they just read the same as you just read
They should do this when you buy the car,not after years of owning it.
Do the releice the plate by the postal method as I paid £95 to buy an £80 postal order and send it recorded delivery/
