🚨Old school garage paint tip. Most dust/trash comes from your clothes. So right before you paint, take a spray bottle full of water and mist the front of your shirt, pants and shoes. It sounds silly but it works well. I even do it when i paint in my booth.🚨🚨
Paint 101, tack everything!! i mean 8"-12" of masking round the preped area, your airline, your arm even the gun if it's been sat around for a bit ....... 100% wear a hat or hood, you don't want hairs in your clear coat. Brush the floor and clean the garage the day before so dust has time to settle.
@@michaeldevito5575 yes you are still going to mask the molding itself, what this does is allow a little bit of clear coat under the rubber giving the illusion that the molding, trim, or rubber were removed.
My grand dad, who did a lot of old paint jobs in a garage would spray the floor down with water so dust wouldn’t get kicked up, for those who don’t have plastic.
My grandfather use to talk about boiling the lacquer paint on the stove and shooting the paint hot. Said it would lay out like glass. This was back in the 50's.

Great job. I started painting in my garage and now we have our own shop. If you do all steps like you did you are going to have a good results. Your videos help a lot, and your explanation is very good.
I have to say I’ve been watching your channel for a while, and I’ve learned a lot, but this video comes in so handy for me. I own a five stage titan HVLP system, and I have been searching for I don’t know how long to find a video or someone paints a car with a turbine system. So thank you so much for all the videos, This one especially. Any chance we could get some more turbine tutorial car painting videos? Keep up the good work
ua-cam.com/video/OM0CJHk47rk/v-deo.html Here’s a quick vid of the results from a friends car I did a paint job on. The paint process starts around half way through the vid. I used a 5 stage Fuji Mini mite 5. Laid out real smooth. I used a 1.0mm tip
The flexi hose you connected to the fuji Turbine box is in the wrong place. The main blue hose connects to turbine box and flexi "whip" hose connects between the main hose and your paint gun. The reason for this hose is that the main blue hose is heavy and not very flexible when you try to move the gun around and the whip hose resolves that problem
I have over thousands of comments and I never see every single comment so I’m sorry that you feel that way but until you are you tuber with over 200,000 subscribers you wouldn’t understand
I have a 96 s10 p/up that needs a paint job and I'm going to use your tutorial . Not being a spray painter following your tips . Thank you before hand .
Love the tips going to try and apply as much as I can within my abilities. The content is always informative and hopefully my 78 ford granada will look better now!
Hey, ty for the nice vid. I believe the "volume"-part in HVLP is high volume of air, not paint. And use that flex-hose in the other end, I believe it's meant to be put on your gun for less strain on your hands. The extra, thick, clear plastic on the hose is supposed to be at the start of the machine (y)
If you have not yet, check out SPI universal clear and their other paint products. My favorite products so far and reasonably priced. Thanks for the videos Brian.
love your channel man! wish id found it earlier. ive done my ek civic in black in my garage(panel by panel due to smaller compressor). although im happy with the results, i had pinholes on my roof and couldnt figure it out. i cleaned just as thoroughly as the other panels which came out great. now after watching this, the issue was i probably didnt let the basecoat dry out as much as i should have. definately gonna tackle the roof again. i also didnt know i could flatten out the basecoat between coats. thanks man, appreciate the info.
Would you consider doing a video on painting bicycles ( or motorcycle) frames ? I know many of the same principles would apply, but my attempts have not turned out well. Some clear instruction would be great.
I like the idea to show that not everything is in a Paint booth and expensive Spray guns and ideal conditions .. you painted the roof of the car in the garage, next to the hanging pictures and everything that goes into it. With a few tools, you would paint the car well even in the desert.
This thing is great for the home diy guy. Terrible for a production painter or mobile bumper tech. Pps system is an absolute must there is no option for this. Cross contamination is real and working with 100-400 different colors a month out of the same gun cup is a big ol no. Great video tho bro you always get a good finish.
Nice one, I've always wondered how a job with one of those will look like. The transparent hose is the one that connects to the gun because is more flexible and make it easear to handle (I have a 4 stage turbine). For those wondering you can use spryfine guns too (I use them for water based finishes in wood). Does it leave a lot of orange peel?. Nice video man! thanks
Went back and looked. Seems like the connector was put on the wrong side for the air hose! Thanks for the tip, when the gun is setup correctly you can get a smooth finish
Great video and presentation. Unfortunately for me the spray machine is $1,500. My Honda is only worth $500. I guess I’ll have to stick w rattle and for now.
Man, I had the same problem with big droplets in the clear, Big droplets = less overspray “Finer-ish” droplets = more pressure, which in turn = more overspray 🤦♂️
bad thing is over spray gets everywhere... cover up everything you can or you will have a mess on your bikes, motor cycle ,pictures or whatever is in that area... i am sure if you can get some kind of good exhaust system you will be in much better shape to paint...
Our company tried making us all use these turbines, we ALL HATED THEM. Sprays clear with way too much orange peel, very easy to run, and you basically have to spray base dry.
Hey bro nicely done. I have a Fuji set up and like you said at the end of the vid, definitely go for the 1.0 and 0.8 tip next time! You’ll be much happier with the results. Amazing job Brian! I've just bought myself the Fuji hvlp, I think the smaller flexible whip hose goes to the gun, rather than the turbine? Did you use the fan to blow dust to the outside of the garage? That looks a great idea, I'll have to try that next time. Also I'm using a 1.3mm nozzle, is that good for base coat? I see you use a 1.0mm nozzle for clear coat? Best wishes John from England.
I'm professional painter...I've never been able to successfully have clear not dieback using a turbine. I have the Fuji Q5 system and tried every nozzle setup...The clear will always cure with a texture no matter how smooth you lay it out. Looks like it also happened to you...
Every nozzle? There are 7 I think. One has to be one better than others .8mm? What's the problem, just too much air? Ive got a mini max 5 and wish I could figure it out.
Great video & info, was a bit worried about spraying in the garage, with it being so confined but I recently installed an explosion proof extractor fan and sealed led lighting, that’s not explosion proof, only doing small projects I see you had plenty of normal electronics running. Just trying to understand the safety elements
Would be cheaper to buy a compressor and 2 guns though so other than maybe noise to a certain extent would be the only reason I could see this being worth it considering the unit is 1500 dollars. Plus you can use other air tools with a compressor as well
Rope trick, awesome! Playing devil's advocate here, not many home DIY paint guys are going to drop $1400 on a sprayer. Given that, can you shoot a panel or three either with a LVLP gun, like the Sprayit one that only calls for about 4cfm and a cheapie/small compressor, or do the cardinal sin of using a more air hungry gun with a similarly small compressor? I know with my Astro Europro HE103, I can hold the trigger wide open for just over three min before my Harbor Freight compressor drops too low for the gun. That leaves me two choices: paint in sections, or pony up and buy a better compressor. I'd love to see what you can do keeping the whole spray rig under say $400-500. Compressor, hose, filter/dryer, gun. The gauntlet has been tossed, but don't overthink it. It's just paint. 😎
Like always, great video Brian. Im convinced you could melt down crayons, put them in your gun and get an amazing finish...I have a question though. When you wet sand should you use soapy water or just water?
Cool episode. I worked as a mechanic for 15 years but now I work in a body shop with disassembling and assembling cars and trucks. I love learning new trades and your videos have some great tips and tricks. Thank you..
Gonna spray my 03 2500 Chev. I sprayed a Ford ranger black top to bottom and it turned out really good nice clarity and nice gloss, besides some orange peel. I was told this was due to lack of sanding is this true ? Great video
As always love the vid! Brian mentioned this could be used for furniture and keeping up with a garage theme I have to ask. Are high gloss kitchen cabinets done the same way? Primer, base and clear coat nicely polished or does it involve different magic than cars?
Nice! That came out really good. The biggest thing I have learned from you is to commit enough time to do all the required steps the right way. Trying to do a job fast or take short cuts wont give you the results you want.
@@PaintSociety Sorry Brian, did not make myself clear. I have used a roller for the 2k primer and it works fine. Once sanded is very smooth and not difficult to do. My question is about using the 2k clear. Dangerous stuff and I don’t have the use of a booth. Painting will done outside or in a makeshift structure (gazebo). Am I better off using 1k clear? Thanks.
@@stewartshackleton7825 check your local laws. In my state you can paint up to two cars in your garage a year. 2k is better. 1k clear is laquer and not good. Turbine will leave virtually no overspray.
Looks good as always Brian love this channel very helpful. Was hoping this video was with a lvlp gun small 120 v compressor more for the diy ers for the home warriors that cant afford a 220 v compressor Keep the vids coming. Dnt over think it’s just paint 🎨. 👍
Yeah same here Rey! im using a little 3HP 14 gallon compressor with 220LPM, max 8 bar pressure. It is 240V though but tank is smallish so its LVLP guns only for me in my tiny garage!
Great videos learning a lot. Have you done any videos on painting stripes into a paint job and then clearing over etc ? (couldn't locate in the channel). Maybe a future video idea for diy's.
Another great presentation, thank you. I am very interested in the Fuji spray system. I restore and hot rod motorcycles and need to paint myself due to high cost going outside. I will go watch more UA-cam videos on the Fuji system but curious if you can offer any more comments on it and its siblings like the mini-mite 5? If I got one of these systems and a range of tips would you agree that it would be perfectly capable of painting motorcycle bodywork (if it is sprayed properly of course)? Thanks again.
I recommend a hulk 30gal compressor, I rarely get moisture in the air line, and I forgot to mention it’s super quiet! At a fraction of California air tools compressor, Ps I’m not a paid spokes person for that compressor, it’s just the one I have been using
I love your channel. I've learned a lot. Is your garage attached to your house? My garage is part of my basement. Will the isocyanates get into the living space? I'm rebuilding an S10 and want to do my own paint. I would rather do it in the garage instead of the driveway but I'm concerned about causing health issues in the house.
Do you need to mix up and put fresh paint in the gun between coats, especially if taking extra time to lightly "scuff" up some minor issues? I guess the real question is how long does the paint remain usable in the gun before mixing a new batch? Finally, do you need to mix up extra paint in a SECOND CUP if you run out while doing a job? I have never seen answers for these questions. Thanks for the nice videos.
We should not left paint in the gum for to long if you do than all the pigments will sit under and your color wont match if you blending , its better to put the mix paint in another clean cup if you think it will take you more than 20 minutes ,so while using you can mix again with your paint stick and put in the gun, depends how long if next day than you might have to add reducer if lid is not on your cup , but do clean your nozzle in every coat, dont leave the gun in the booth (REASON) the paint might get more thick by the temperature in the booth or it might get hard if clear in the gun or 2k solid. About your second cup depends how much paint you need ,why mix 4 litter of paint when you only need 500ml. I HOPE YOU GOT YOUR ANSWER?.
Hi. I have a 1937 Ford Tudor Sedan. I have had this car since 1993. I would like to paint this car. I will have to paint it in my garage. Now my bodywork won't be the best. I am 70 now and my hands are getting screwed up. I plan on painting it White. That way if my body work isn't the best. It should hide most of it. I have 3 filters inline to control water, and one at the gun. I bought a Summit spray gun. Any tips?? Last time I sprayed paint was when I was in school. That was 1972. A lot has changed since then. I have done all of the work on this car by myself. Body off frame, and entire interior. Now paint. Looking for tips.. Thanks
You didn’t thin the paint enough, I use turbine sprayers full time, my job is using one of these daily. And you have to thin all your coatings in a turbine sprayer, compared to a devilbis HVLP.
I see there is an interior door open as well as your garage door. With my garage being on the 1st floor of my Florida home, will the airborne chemicals seep into my house? I'd like to paint my project inside of my garage but I am concerned about the chemicals.
i have painted 2 cars and 2 motorcycles outside which makes it very challenging. That little trick with the rope in the molding will save me alot! Thank you!!
Just tuned into your channel and I am very impressed. Excellent work. Nice deep black. Are you close to Tampa, FL or can recommend someone on the area? I need a 2001 Mustang GT painted. Thanks!
Hey Brian, love the videos. I have a question, I have a 5 stage turbine HVLP system. You had mentioned only being able to use guns that work with the system but out of curiosity, is it possible to use a better quality HVLP labeled spray gun like a iwata, sagosa 3M ect..? Might make for an interesting video to see if even possible? Thank you, Julius

Cool episode. I worked as a mechanic for 15 years but now I work in a body shop with disassembling and assembling cars and trucks. I love learning new trades and your videos have some great tips and tricks. Thank you..
Awesome brother
Gonna spray my 03 2500 Chev. I sprayed a Ford ranger black top to bottom and it turned out really good nice clarity and nice gloss, besides some orange peel. I was told this was due to lack of sanding is this true ? Great video
As always love the vid!
Brian mentioned this could be used for furniture and keeping up with a garage theme I have to ask. Are high gloss kitchen cabinets done the same way? Primer, base and clear coat nicely polished or does it involve different magic than cars?
I think it depends on material.
Great Job 😀😀👍
Nice! That came out really good. The biggest thing I have learned from you is to commit enough time to do all the required steps the right way. Trying to do a job fast or take short cuts wont give you the results you want.
Thanks thats a great job
Do you have a video of the exhaust system for the garage
Good stuff as usual Brian. Is there not still a problem using 2k in a home garage - environment and neighbors for example?
With the roll on option from Eastwood, it’s great and doesn’t put the fumes in the air.
Which turbine system do you like better, the Fuji, or the one you demonstrated a few months ago?
Another great presentation, thank you. I am very interested in the Fuji spray system. I restore and hot rod motorcycles and need to paint myself due to high cost going outside. I will go watch more UA-cam videos on the Fuji system but curious if you can offer any more comments on it and its siblings like the mini-mite 5? If I got one of these systems and a range of tips would you agree that it would be perfectly capable of painting motorcycle bodywork (if it is sprayed properly of course)? Thanks again.
Love your work Brian.
Your giving me the confidence to give it a crack myself.
God bless and thank you for your time.

I recommend a hulk 30gal compressor, I rarely get moisture in the air line, and I forgot to mention it’s super quiet! At a fraction of California air tools compressor,
Ps I’m not a paid spokes person for that compressor, it’s just the one I have been using
I love your channel. I've learned a lot. Is your garage attached to your house? My garage is part of my basement. Will the isocyanates get into the living space? I'm rebuilding an S10 and want to do my own paint. I would rather do it in the garage instead of the driveway but I'm concerned about causing health issues in the house.
if your garage is in your basement it might not be the best idea. My garage is beside my home.
@@PaintSociety thanks. That's what I thought. I want to do a paint job, not end up in the hospital.
00:42 Eastcoats? lol. Great job tho!
At least someone is listening lol oops
Should try that tip with some hs primer. This would be dope to prime bodywork before I take my truck to work to final paint it.
Love the videos, just one question, with all the out of pocket expense, is it cheaper to buy this stuff or get it done by a shop?
Fantastic, felicidades 🎊
Another great video, TY👍 Any particular reason you didn’t use cone filters?
Thanks
Any videos on how to polish well?
I got my hopes up until I saw the price of that turbine.
They're all pricey.
But the more money you spend the better the quality which will be noticeable.
Binks spray guns can be $700
You didn’t thin the paint enough, I use turbine sprayers full time, my job is using one of these daily.
I know you are doing a professional job but I think for clear code you moving your gun slow.
i have painted 2 cars and 2 motorcycles outside which makes it very challenging. That little trick with the rope in the molding will save me alot! Thank you!!
Your White SUV, did u get any overspray on it?
Haha Bottle opener! I feel that!
Love it
Just tuned into your channel and I am very impressed. Excellent work. Nice deep black. Are you close to Tampa, FL or can recommend someone on the area? I need a 2001 Mustang GT painted. Thanks!
Check out kandy man here on UA-cam. He is in that area
Thank you,
Julius
