Tool Wings For Marie Reaction Video
Don’t worry about length... we are Tool fans 😂

Thats what she said......?
True that
Truth! 🤣
@@jdp6295 What about Bob?
"Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough, you're going home" - this is when I start to cry, every single time.
it gets me every time too...
For me it’s “it’s time now! My time now! Give me my wings!”
Me too.
Always gives me shivers
I’ve listened to Wings for Marie hundreds of times. Great song. But I never really looked below the surface. I’ve listened to the lyrics, but never really heard them.
Now I’m sitting here alone, a grown man, literally crying. Bawling my eyes out. This is something special.
When they finished recording this song Adam said, "This might be the greatest song we've ever done..." Yeah. It might be.
I agree, there are better technical songs but this song will last forever since it's emotional statement will always ring true.
It's the reason 10,000 Days is/was my favourite Tool album. Fear Innocuulum is really fucking good too.
@@tjlanglois1989 10K isn't my fav album. But I like it more than most people do. I think it's better than Lateralus and seems like most people put Lateralus at #1. Ænema is my #1.
@@Serit0nin ænima is my sister's favourite I think.
Especially when it comes to it's meaning. What child wouldn't feel this way about their mother if they went through the same? Hits me every time.

You spelled CD wrong.

Dude, you are without a doubt the freshest thing to come out of the "reaction-style" channel niche of youtube in a LONG time, and truly nobody can even classify you as just a reaction channel. Your input is so interesting and really unlocks a hidden chapter of the music. It's almost like watching a DVD commentary and getting into the mind of the director, even though you didn't make the music you understand so much about the beauty of it all and it really shows in your comments. Thanks for always keeping the vibe positive and I'm so happy to see how rapidly successful you've been on this platform. Cheers bro
Wow, thank you so much for your comment - it means a lot :)
Definitely bro. I came for the tool videos and stayed for the knowledge and passion!
@@KeyOfGeebz I agree so much, hearing your insights into the music brings out and exposes a whole new layer of appreciation for the artistry that went in to these songs, and seeing your passion and emotion for it really connects. I think it would be really cool to see you do maybe a follow up video to some of your reactions to certain songs you found really moving or special where you do more of a deep dive into the composition and music theory behind what is going on. I know you already do a lot but it could be a really neat long term project where you select songs with really unique or interesting elements and really break them down, I think it would be so cool.
Beautifully written, recycling them goosebumps into tears over here, much love.
Agreed. This is very enlightening as much as the music. Turn the Key of Geebz.
Maynard’s final “Hallelujah” at the very end is absolutely crushing.

It's the only time I heard that and it gave me chills.
We're all still here. No Tool fan ever stops before the end of this one. Subscribed.
I will never stop before the end of part 2. Too special and important to be skipped over
I have a few songs like this. From tool, it's these two. For A7X, it's Fiction. For les friction, it's Come back to me. All of them such powerful songs about the death of a close one
"Give me my wings!"
Tears. Every. Single. Time.
Goosebumps for me
" Fetch me the Spirit, the Son And the Father. Tell them thy pillar of faith has ascended"
For me it’s the “daylight dims, leaving cold fluorescence” part that gets me. So cold and descriptive.
For me it’s “Judith Marie- Unconditional ONE!”
I'm ready just reading that line
"Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father - tell them their pillar of faith has ascended. It's time now, my time now, give me my, give me my wings." Incredible.
Just reading that gave me goosebumps. Fucking love it
I've unfortunately seen pastors react to this song and say - almsot verbatim - "but that's not how it works. You don't get to decide if you've earned them." Very frustrating deflection but oh well.
Also one of the best recorded vocal tracks Maynard has ever done imo. He's always amazing but that one was on another level and will probably never be topped.
@@LudusAurea To a large degree i would say christianity is about interpretation, it evolves culturally and definintely personally. Most people probably wouldnt call themselves christian these days, but to a degree its inescapable since its such a large part of our heritage in the west. Brother.....you get it, I am 54 years old, I cannot listen to these two songs without becoming emotional, whether it be chills or tears, I have been listening to tool for 30 years....I raised three kids to this band, I have seen them over a dozen times, they are the most cerebral and purposeful musicians on the planet, Maynards lyrics have guided my life ship for decades and pulled me from dark moments and helped me celebrate beautiful sunny days.....They've taken me to cliff sides and through torrential rains, waves crashing, birds flying, bright sunny days with warm breezes...they are landscape.........it would be awesome to sit and hang with you, have a cup of coffee and talk music, thank you for doing this with us and for us.......Tool is now in your veins sir , THANK YOU

@@saigawesnovember Oh, so you're that guy... 'OGT, from back in '92, Tool's first EP' huh? Lol.
I saw Tool during the 10,000 Days tour at a partially covered outdoor venue in Toronto (Molson Amphitheatre). I kid you not, as the thunder in the intro to part one started a real thunderstorm rolled in and let loose. It was a definite chicken skin moment and you could tell the entire audience was pretty much in tears. It really was an incredible moment and one I will cherish for the rest of my life.
I've seen a perfect circle and pucifer in concert but never Tool. One of my dying wishes to see them live. silly as that may sound.

I don’t trust anybody that doesn’t have a visceral reaction to this song.
Dave, while I agree with you whole heartedly.... please don’t fall into the trap of automatically trusting those who do. Because if you send 4 million dollars, I’ll send you back 10 million and this song is in my bones! See what I mean? Lol
Sociopaths
I've seen this exact comment on other Wings for Marie videos.
I genuinely DON'T like listening to this song.....I tend to avoid it.
Why?
Because my mom is still alive. But she's in her mid 60s and I know one day, sooner rather than later, she will be gone.
And I KNOW I will listen to this song after that happens....and bawl my fucking eyes out. And that fact....scares me. It's like I know for a fact that one day in the future....I will have that experience. I know for a fact it is in my future. But I don't know when. Really disturbing to think about....
And yet, I know I'll listen to this song then, because it will hurt...and heal at the same time. And that is valuable...to know when that day comes, I'll always have this song to help me through it.
But it hasn't happened...........yet. Fucking life....
@@avedic This what I'm here doing. Being the son of a religious parent, these two songs can be one of those triggers where I really hope my Dad got what he deserved for the devotion and service he provided to his god. Always makes me just ugly cry.
Fun Fact about the song: Its not just about the loss of his mother, but also with his struggle with religion and his acceptance of his mother's faith, even though Maynard has often been quoted as blaming god and religion for his mother's suffering and death, but in this song he's kinda like "no one has ever deserved to fly to heaven like my mother has (she was a "good Christian" and good person), even though I don't believe in it, it was an integral part of her life." But he also has this undertone of contempt because he knows his mother isn't going to where she worked so hard to go to. at least in his mind. Hope this is informative! Such an amazing, visceral, song.
Ugh especially during the slow building crescendo at 25:30 saying "youre the only one who can hold your head up high/ shake your fists at the gates and say/ Ive come home now ..... / it's my time now / give me my wings!" He is demanding for God to give his mother what he and the church promised her all throughout her life. to give her the reward she deserved, but he doesnt think she's actually getting it.
It's also about how ugly and fake his family was.
Excellent eye, oh, and "Jimmy".
When you literally demand from a god that you don't believe in that he take your mother without question into his loving embrace... A god that you once again don't believe in, but need with all your heart to know your mother is there with
@@assortedramblings9132 Beautifully phrased
Regarding his mother, Maynard has a song for each stage of grief:
Denial: Jimmy
Anger: Judith (APC)
Bargaining: The Grudge
Depression: Wings 1
Acceptance: Wings 2
Not definitive, just my take.
Judith and wings for Mary are definitely linked, both songs are about his mother.
If there truly are 5 stages, I find all of them in Wings for Mary pt1 and 2. Stuff like "You are the light and the way that they'll only read about" are outbursts of anger directed at all kinds of preachers who will tell you that she's moving on to a better place, while relentlessly opposing even the most passive form of life ending measures, causing his mother to be shackled in the way she was for 30 years. Maynard has been clear on the hatred he feels towards these sorts of religious figures.
At the same time, the anger is not directed at his mother. Though he doesn't believe as she did, he clearly hopes for her sake she "was right" so to say. Even if she isn't, he wishes for her to finally get her wings ("you are the only one who can hold your head up high, shake your fists at the gates and say: "I've come home now. It's my time now. Give me my wings". Whether anyone believes in the concept of heaven, Maynard is basically saying: the only person who would be worthy is his mother. More than that, after having spent 10,000 days in the fire, she has earned the right to be angry at heaven itself.
Ah well, I reckon many people could write countless essays on these two songs. Personally, all I know is that it feels real, visceral, lived through, and honestly, I rarely can sit through these two songs back to back without getting extremely emotional ever since I lost someone to a shitty, debilitating disease. Nothing is worse than just having to stand idly by, watching someone waste away and realizing there is no more "visiting" them, only a gradual "saying goodbye".
@@rolmops883 I needed a moment after reading your comment to let it sink in. Every line in these songs is so much heavier than I ever thought.
Interesting take and I agree. Judith is angry that this could happen to such an amazing person. Then wings for Marie he wants the afterlife to be true for his mom
The parallel of this song is Judith by A Perfect Circle. His mom's name is Judith Marie. Judith is the raw, fresh wound of his mother's situation. Wings for Marie is the more mature thoughtful reaction.
by reading your comment i noticed that "judith" and "wings for marie/10000 Days" are (at least for my understanding) 3 out of 5 stages of grief. Anger(Judith), Depression(Wings for Marie), Acceptance(10000 Days).
@@robertlemcke3877 at least Jimmy also is part of the story... and is maybe more on the Denial side of the grief cycle
@@robertlemcke3877 Add Jambi (Bargaining) to the equation and you are at 4 levels.

I believe there was a period where he didn't want to sing Judith anymore because she passed away.
APC song "Judith" is really the first part of this trilogy. His mothers name was Judith Marie. She was a devout Christian, despite years of paralysis and crippling pain. Maynard of course struggled with this juxtaposition of a faithful woman being pusnished by her supposedly loving god. In Judith we see his anger, then in Marie, after her passing, we see his love. Its an amazing arch.
I think you're missing out on Jimmy, it's the first in this whole series...
Some people say the end of it all was Horizons by Puscifer
To add on to this: members of the church she was involved in also gossiped heavily, saying that her horrible health was punishment from God because she was a sinner and not “holy” enough.
@@crankyanker2682 nice. That's what you wanna hear 👍🏻
Spot on summation of these three songs by Maynard.
I think you can add in Opiate to this "series" as well, where we really see Maynard speak his piece on what he thinks about organized religion. Maybe even Eulogy. But to me, it's fascinating to put these songs together and see him go through this cycle of cynicism, anger, grief, and hopefully healing eventually. Not something you get to see often.
This song helped me so much when my Mother died from brain cancer a couple of years ago. I would down in the basement, turn out the lights, turn up this song and sing/cry along. It helped with all of the emotions that I was feeling. I have also been lucky enough to see them perform this live three times. Goose bumps every time.
Goosebumps every. single. time.

I lost my wife six years ago after a long, long illness (ten thousand days about sums it up). This song never fails to make me cry. You're absolutely right about folks hearing this, internalizing it, adapting it to their own life experience. Well done (to you and Tool).
I am sorry for your loss. This song is absolutely about that and it is absolutely universal and pulls the heart strings of so many who hear it. I almost envy those who don't have an emotional reaction to a piece of art like this. Almost.
I am sorry about the passing of your wife. And thank you for sharing this with us. ❤️
I'll be marrying my fiancee soon, and though she hasn't said anything about it to me yet, I think she's battling her brain tumor again. The way she's been acting lately is scaring me. Im sorry for your loss, I might be joining the widower club decades sooner than I'd like.
Lost mine in 2020 to suicide. Respect brother. Sorry for your loss.
I've been lucky enough to see them do this song live. It was the last song before an almost 30 minute intermission. Maynard finished the song and had to sit down afterwards and while his back was to the audience, we could tell he was weeping. Each of the band members came over and sat with him one at a time. Couldn't tell if it was Adam or Justin that put their arm around him to comfort him. This band might have a strange writing method , but they have to be close. Too many musicians these days don't have the capacity to move the listener. I think that's why they take so much time to get things right. I cant wait to see them again. F.U. covid 🤬
Me too. So beautiful. I choked up and had goosebumps the whole time. Wow.
Hey said he would never do more work like this because it was too deeply personal being that it was about his mother that had a stroke and was immobilized for years. Hence 10,000 days in the fire is long enough.
Part 2 always messes me up,
Man, I was in LA when they played this song for the first time. Maynard had to leave during the song as he was choking up. Tool just kept playing and he came back a couple minutes later and continued. I don't think I will ever shed as many tears of pure bliss as I did in that moment. I felt Maynard's pain, I felt the movement of the music, I felt the energy of that moment in full. It was indescribable, almost religious.
What a legendary musician Maynard is, and how lucky y’all are, my father introduced me to to tool when I was 8 years old, I’m now 21 I am still an avid listener, these two songs in particular are my favorites, the passion, and depth these song have, have altered my reality and helped me move forward

My mom's 70 years old and, on the way to school, she would request that I turn off the radio and "play that one really long song by that one band." I'd say, "Mom, you'll have to be more specific." "You know the one about his mother." We never saw eye-to-eye on religion, but we'd sing this song together. That's how powerful this band is.
This song is a musical masterpiece. Probably the greatest piece of music I’ve ever heard.
The five stages of grief set to music.
Even her suffering. The beginning is silence, the initial coma and as the intro begins it slowly gains tempo then leveled off, she is back but impaired. Then the undertone is dual, the slow impaired tempo of her body along with the bright hopeful tempo of her spirit.
Now for the holy trinity disposition, reflection and triad

These songs hit hard. My grandmother passed almost 3 years ago and every time I hear this song, I think of her. She was also a devout Christian and lived her life accordingly...but the last 6 months of her life were the various stages of dementia. The frail old woman I saw in bed the day she did (my uncle, mom and I by her side) wasn't my grandmother, and hadn't been for quite a while.
I miss her. I'm a 46 year old man that still tears up when thinking about his grandmother...and I hope that never ends.
When you hear something leading, driving, or amazing in this song.... it’s Justin. Lol.
When he plays with Maynard during the “fetch me the spirit the son and the father” part... dear lord... they open a portal to another world
That's a total sync in motion they were in the pocket total art in motion. Tool is good...... real good
Ever since my Dad died when I listen to this song (parts 1 & 2) I can't keep myself from weeping like a widow. He too was one of those people with a internal light that was beyond words. Kind and generous, understanding and compassionate. He was a hard worker and a man at peace. He was a spiritual man without a religion. Yes, would love to hear your reaction to Invincible. The engineering/mix on the Fear Inoculum album is fantastic. "Evil" Joe Barresi was the mixer/recording engineer
Agreed. I think that's the tour de force of the album. +1 for Invincible.
This album came out summer of 2006. I was 18. I lost my Dad that August. I saw them live 3 times that year.
They played "Wings for Marie" every show I went to. It was such a spiritual and healing experience. I was always on the floor, surrounded by thousands of people, hands in the air, tears flowing down my face just releasing all my grief.
"Wings" means so, so much to me.
My grandmother is losing her long battle with an aggressive brain tumor and alzheimer's that robbed her of her mind for the last 8 years.. this song hurts to listen to, but it's powerful and I'll be reading some of these lyrics at her memorial, when she finally goes home to the halls of our forefathers
Adam Jones may not be the most technically savvy guitarist but his nuances like volume swells and his other ambient techniques are amazing and unique.
The thing that I always loved about Tool is that they didn't try to outshine each other. They're a band, not a bunch of solo artists playing together! It's not about how fast they could play or anything like that, it's about what serves the songs the best. Their most technical stuff is still there to make the sound, not show off. Until Fear Inoculum, anyway, which is basically a Danny Carey showpiece.
Adam isn’t the most technical guitarist by any means. But, he has such a different style of playing, both picking and and ways he uses his fret hand. Not to compare him with any other guitarist, but hes similar in a way with tom morello that they’re both ridiculously talented in their own style.
Pioneers don't have to shred. Adam Jones has certainly influenced my playing the past 20 years. His ability to serve the arrangement and the emotion is top shelf. Not to mention mastery of feedback and dynamics. God, and being able to play in a completely different meter than the rest of the band.... List goes on lol
@@serclintalot4497 and as a visual artist...amazing
@@Bramble451 I would agree. But you can both be super technical and still pull it off. Wintersun for example is good at that. Symphony X as well, and Winds, and I'd say Opeth and Ne Obliviscaris too.
the 'dim my eyes' harmony in Jambi is sublime
For me it will always be the talkbox before "Shine on forever, shine on benevolent sun...." and that vocal distortion.
For me it's the "into the TV" on Vicarious.
I thought for ages it was "damn my eyes"
@@unwantedscrub Haha... oh really?
What about the harmonized chorus of Parabola, "in this hoooooly reality, this hoooooly experience, choosing to be here in..."?
Both of these songs are incredibly personal for me. I lost my late husband, Jeremiah, to a rare genetic disease nine years ago. He was in the hospital for almost a year before he took his last breath. I listened to these over and over again trying to find peace. TOOL was and still is my go-to form of therapy for the grief that I felt initially and the grief that lingers. Thank you for going in this journey! I watch every video from start to finish!
Thanks so very much for this. My husband died 3 months ago and for the gathering before his cremation I choose Parabola pt1. My husband and I both loved Tool . And although I knew the people gathered didn’t know Tool at all, I could feel the impact of the song. I know it was hard for them, because Tool is cutting deep into most peoples (unconscious) state of being. And at that particular moment nobody moved, they were like frozen in time. It’s hard to explain. This song is heartbreaking and comforting at the same time. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and feelings. You’re awesome 🙏
I'm still here! My mother had a stroke and was paralyzed and mute for 18 years. She passed last year and we read the "fetch me the spirit....give me my wings" lyrics at her funeral. I lose it every time I listen to this.

My mother had 5 strokes from the time she was 17-45, the last left her brain dead. Her journey through the fear and pain lasted approximately 10,000 days as well. Every time I hear this song it blows my mind how Maynard, someone I look up to soo much has almost the exact same story. There isn't a song that I feel as deeply for. Thank you for sharing your listening experience with this one too.
Lyrically, he’s bedside in the hospital witnessing. The most vulnerable song a person has ever shared.
That's Perfect Circle - Orestes.
I love all these tunes but "When the Tigers Broke Free" or the song "The Final Cut" are such emotional tunes. Roger Waters is great at it.
Someone missed the like button because he had a tear in his eye
J’approuve ton raisonnement! 🙂🤘
When you talk about the listener “adapting” the lyrics to their own life, you really hit the nail on the head - this is fundamentally why they’re called “Tool”. Maynard’s lyrics are so malleable to anyone’s experiences. They’re full of homophones and potential ambiguities that can mold to anyone's experiences in life. I’m legitimately excited for you to continue to dive into the lyrics. I listened to Tool for a good 10 years before really paying attention to Maynard’s words, and now it’s like discovering a whole new world.
Keep up the great vids!
Totally.... I think it was about 6 years till I knew this song was about his mom
100% Couldn't agree more, it also took me YEARS to finally dive into lyrics...and yes. it was like seeing/hearing them for the first time...utterly amazing.
Couldn't agree more, and each album is like a movement through a different phase of the "hero's journey" - Opiate is the rebellious youth being hushed, the naïve follower being fed anesthetic lies; the fool. Undertow is the 20something navigating through the pull of a rebellious youth into something greater, and Aenema is a newly adult cleansing of old habits, old ideas, ridding oneself of false idols to thine own self be true. Lateralus is a movement of maturing through the narcissistic tendencies of learning to stand on one's own, to realizing this light is not our own. 10,000 Days carries this through to reaching out for family - treasuring what we have in front of us and past, and realizing a brotherhood in the end: that we are all talking monkeys in Eden with enough to go around. Fear Inoculum is looking at one's own possible end bravely, and beyond, toward the greater miasma of time and history itself.
I'm so with you. I think I've heard every song from Lateralus, 10,000 days 150 times each and it was the 50th Time I had a revelation and then again around the 100th. It never stops.
@@Headlessthirst YEESSS hahahah they truly are the gift that keeps on giving!

The Grudge🤘🤘
...and sinking deeper....

“Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father. Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.” ❤
My dad is dying. I'm still here. This is one of my favorite Tool songs and you're absolutely right, we associate the song with our own lives and it helps us get through shit. Thank you for listening to it, dude.
Oh, I'm smokin' em, trust.
Still here now listen to A perfect circle's Judith. It was while his mother was still alive and Maynard still struggling with it all.
Judith was before Wings/10000. Its like listening to a prequel... Leave the progression to the Dude. He'll get there! 😝😝😝
I have heard you mention more than once that you wish you could listen to a song from the perspective of someone who doesn’t understand music the way a composer does. I know you treat the vocals and lyrics as though they are simply another instrument. But to truly enjoy a song without analyzing it so much, you must have an emotional connection. Lyrics can do that. Imagine the song is but a poem. Without lyrics, a poem is nothing. Maybe, you could study the lyrics and the meaning of them, then listen again and only pay attention to the lyrics, like an experiment. When you find yourself analyzing again, recognize that and come back to the lyrics. The musics wraps them like a gift. Allow yourself to get caught up in the pain or the bliss even, of what the song means to you by language only. A poem can bring a person to tears or even change someone’s life. That is the importance and power of lyrics. You can go back to analyzing on the next go-around. I’d hate to see such a talented and great guy as yourself miss out on such a wonderful experience. 💙
I dont normally leave comments, but your content is really great! I've come across some cool bands on your channel, and as a life long tool fan its refreshing to see someone who knows a great deal about music talk about them. Dont be afraid to talk more and pause, this is your channel and the likeness of how you go about it should be dictated by no one but you. Let the emotions flow, pause the song to explain what you feel and hear, spiral out man. Peace and love. 🙂🤙
Man, thank you!
Absolutely. If people want to just listen to the song, they can go and listen to the song. I thought "reaction videos" were a stupid idea until I saw this guy, he's definitely in the
@@samgquinlan There's totally room for reaction videos in the educational department. The only problem in YT reaction videos is the ungriunded faith of the majority in them being in any way special. And lo and behold, there's a significant difference between a ghetto boi shouting "Datz dope!" and... this. Go figure.
Thanks for doing this. It means a lot to the Tool Army.
"But I'm still right here
Giving blood, keeping faith
And I'm still right here
But I'm still right here
Giving blood, keeping faith
And I'm still right here"
Still here
I love The Patient
@Theorem my favorite song on lateralus and I had no idea😅
The patient is a gorgeous song and super innovative the way the guitar is gliding and harmonizing around maynards vocals most of the second half of the song.
HAAAAAAAAH
One does not simply listen to Tool, it's lived. I enjoy your take. You seem to have a good heart. The world could use more people like you!
I have the same triceratops stuffed animal. Mine is named Topsy.
I feel like you and Rick Beato need to do a live stream together.
YES!
who is rick beato?
GREAT idea, that would be a good time, I love ricks stuff. Honestly, this old decomposer is the only other I’ve seen that can really break it down so well. Great ears for sure!
oh hell yeah, they would get along very well i think
@@Bliggers420 Producer, also does these kinds of breakdowns, but a lot more technical...90% of the time it's over my head since I don't have any musical edu.
Defiantly worth checking him out.
Aww hell. He gone and done it
I'm still here, bro Montana
Wings pt 2 completely wrecked me the first time I heard it, and still makes me weep like a baby to this day. Has to be one of their most raw and personal songs.
Hey old man, thanks for this. Lost my mom a few years back and your “chicken skin” let me know that others “get it”.Mourning is a real experience and while this isn’t exactly traditional, it’s helped me in ways that are hard to explain.
You should react to Tools cover of Led Zeppelin’s - No Quarter
My thoughts exactly. The cover of all covers
Never got the hype with that
@@efcdk92 Being one who generally hates "covers", this one stands out. It's generally felt that Tool exemplifies the emotion that Zep was trying to achieve, but the zeitgeist that rock and production simply didn't allow, was actually achieved through their interpretation. Production, tonality and effects were in their beginning phases during LZ's composition of this song, where tool was able to take it to a new level that was intended, but not attainable at the time of its original writing. I'm not sure if it's worthy of a compositional breakdown, but certainly worthy of a side-by-side comparison of the construction of someone who understands composition.
TBH i'm a huge fan of both bands, but i never liked this cover, i couldn't tell why :/
Maynard covers your song..... Its his now 😂
OF COURSE we’re still here ! As a tool fan , we WANT to show people how good tool is. So thank you for sticking with us !
hi, I'm an Italian guy, and at my place it's 2:23 at night, and I just finished watching your video. I thank you with all my heart for making me rediscover, as if it were the first time this song, now I can go to bed a little sad but also very happy. I apologize for my bad english but thanks again.
Your english is great i think!
Agreed excellent English especially for our generation in time and you have came here the same reason I have it's almost like you there with him or even just feeling him feel the song and I appreciate it cause I love this song my mom is my heart and soul couldnt imagine losing her I sometimes listen to this song to appreciate what I have when I feel like I'm being stubborn or stupid
Thanks you very much guys❤️
Che bello bro, non sono l'unico allora🤘♥️
@@kevintrabucchi7 per fortuna no fratè, hahahah🤘😂❤️
I love everything Tool with a passion. But Wings part 1 and 2 for me are my ultimate tracks. The emotions that are wrought into every word and every note are beyond comprehension.
Goosebumps every time.
"smoke em if you got em"
Yes sir mr decomposer sir! dont gotta tell me twice!
Luckies and Sugar Tits for me
Hells yea. 420
These songs give me goosebumps. Every. Single. Time. A masterpiece.
greatest band of my generation
I’m still here, and like they said, no time wasted! Wings for Marie gave me “chicken skin” from the very first time I heard it, on the day this album was released. It took on a whole new personal meaning the day my mother died in 2014, and I cannot listen to it now without crying. Thank you for giving this song a special place on your channel 💕
Can’t wait till you do disposition reflection triad... that’s peak tool!!
He really needs to do this one, I agree.
Yes!!
Dude his video on that trio is gonna be like an hour long and I'm gonna love EVERY minute of it lol. Can't wait!
"Fetch me the spirit the son and the father, tell them their pillar of faith has ascended, it's time now, my time now, give me my, give me wings." So powerful! I fucken love these songs! Been apart of the army since 1993. Keep up the good work my silver Fox! 💜
Always here to the end.
Gives me chills, every single time.
Agreed. Some of Maynard's best lyrics.
Love the word selection. “Fetch” is the perfect choice for that line.
I listen to it almost daily, it's the only cd that stays in my car year around for the last two years 😁
Who could deny
Can never get through these without bawling my eyes out... This song hits on a personal level and I'm so glad that MJK wrote this. He regretted writing 10,000 days and says he will never be this open again. Fucking masterpiece 👌
Fetch me the Spirit, The Son, and the Father! Tell them their pillar of Faith has ascended!
I still hope you check out and break down Tool's cover of No Quarter.
Saw them open back to back shows in January 2016 in San Diego...FUCKING AMAZING!!!
Yes he's got to do the tool cover No Quarter
Check out the grudge
This song helped me cope with my mother's disease and her passing. She had early onset Alz and I died a little inside watching her slip away. I cry like a baby every single time I listen.
In my opinion, this may the the greatest song of my generation! It's SO Powerful! That's why they give us the Tools, to help prepare you
I live in a desert. Rain comes only a few times a year. On occasion, we get a flash floods downpour out of nowhere. These two songs capture that feeling of the storm rolling in and changing your life.
The air is very dry in the desert. You don't notice it though, because it is constant. The mid-day heat is oppressive, hitting over a hundred, but at least it's not smothering, being so void of moisture. You notice a shadow looking across the ground, and look up to see darkness enveloping the sun. The relief from its rays is immediate, but you know you need to button everything down.
Distant thunder unheard for years in this valley crackles and rolls around the mountains. The wind is picking up, throwing sand everywhere. The first drop taps your face. The smell of dirt kicked up by minute blows of water fills your nostrils. The smell of new life.
The thunder gets closer and the torrent starts in earnest. Wind, rain, thunder and lightning whirl around you, tearing up everything. Hail begins, quarter sized ice chunks pelt you all over as you dash for shelter. Trees become dangerous with there flailing limbs breaking, the few that survive in this desolation. They are the highest point besides you out here, and the lightning is followed without delay by thunder now. As you search for better shelter, the cloud makes a funny shape like a funnel.
Eh... I'm out of steam. You still here? 'cause I'm still here.
For years, I skipped these tracks when listening through the album. They were boring to me. Then I let it play through. Not sure if I had matured a little, or this music matured me a little, but it felt different at a later part of my life.
Keep going Geebz, we're still here listening.
I did the same thing until I forgot to skip one day and without realizing I had the melody in my head. Then I played the album without skipping and actually paid full attention to the songs and was blown away.
I had the same feeling towards these 2 tracks when i first listened to this album, I'd also skip past until about a year or so later I remember really "hearing" them for the first time, getting extreme goosebumps and realizing how powerful this music is. Wings 2 is my fav Tool track I think..
These guys... were born to play together.
Blows me the fuck away
the way the guitar corresponds with Maynard in Part 2 is like an Angel having a low whisper of sympathy to Marie.
I'm still here... Watched the entire thing as usual.... Tool fans are cool with long videos... Great reaction
Tool fans are patient, it's in our nature lol
What's a 40 minute video when you're used to waiting over 10 years for an album to drop? ;)
We also never tire of hearing about how great Tool is.
I rarely make it thru without sobbing
Thought I was the only one. So divine.
I was lucky enough to see them perform this live many years ago. Its still SO moving.
As a Tool fan, of course I'm here at the end, but what I love about your deconstructions is that despite analysing like a painter would into a picture's component parts you can really see how much you love music and how prepared you are to hang up your musical analysis to let some heartfelt lyrics penetrate your soul like they do with the rest of us as fans. And the way it becomes like a gestalt of emotion together with the other instruments. It's great to watch you become a fan along with the rest of us
"smoke em if you got em"
Me who's been loading a bowl waiting for the song to hit: don't have to tell me twice
Hell yeah
"I don't wanna say Gregorian Chant-y"
But it is. It totally is.
It totally is
his best chant can be found on the song You Lied on the Salival album
Insanely excited for this one!!! Please trust me....humbling river by Puscifer. Please?!?!
Momma sed is good too.
Thats such a good one. Love that song
YES
I'm still here 😊
It isn't a song it's an experience.
I lost my mother almost 12 years ago to the day in a slow and painful way. She was an angel who didn't deserve to go at such a relatively young age. We didn't realise the impact she had on people until her funeral when people were spilling out the doors and on to the lawn, there was so many there to say goodbye. She touched everyone she met in some way or another. I'm not religious, but I feel like she was being called home, as if her work was done and she was needed elsewhere.
I didn't realise until today how I'd been avoiding these songs. I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out and want nothing but silence for a while after hearing this. It's cathartic.
Have been subscribed from the get go. Gotta tell you, you bring a great perspective and energy to songs many of us have been listening to for years and dare I say transfer that fresh energy onto us when you're listening. Thank you for what you do. We really appreciate all of you time and effort. Aloha
I appreciate that!
Give me my..
Give me my..
Give me my..

I feel the same. Your epic man!
I'm still here... and this song is always heavy, no matter how many times I listen to it....
It was giving me chills and I wasn't even listening to it on headphones lol. Love this song.
this WHOLE song makes me cry, i cant listen to it without feeling some emotional & spiritual experience every time. There is no specific place this triggers an emotional response... its the whole damn thing. So beautiful, so heart wrenching.
It is roughly 10,000 days from the day his mother first had a stroke to the day she passed....? Love this whole album . Heck I love ALL TOOL ! 😍🤩😍🥰
Tool Army just doesn't stop halfway through, especially Wings. Here!
Instrumentally this song Justin is the highlight for me. Everything about his bass playing in this song is perfect. This is his best work.
Bass is so good in these songs
Lateralus is Danny's album, Fear Innoculum is arguably Adam's album, but 10,000 Days is Justin's album. His work on all the tracks is mind-boggling.
It’s the blood circulating the veins and arteries, it holds everything together and feeds it life.
@@JasonLevine1178 I never thought of it that way, you do have a point.
Still here. In 2023. Thank you for this one. This song helped me cope with the loss of my younger brother. He was only 37, healthy, athletic, and strong. Died suddenly of a heart attack almost a year ago. Of course i can't state on this platform what injections the medical examiner determined to have contributed to his death. What a time to be alive... Sometimes I'm envious he has shed this veil of tears.
Danny the octopus....not only with his hand but with his creativity and mindset
How the guy can compartmentalise with every limb is extraordinary
