We did trade in a RAV4 Hybrid for a Finish Line Red Crown Signia and are very pleased. We wanted an upgrade from the RAV4 and the Signia checked all of the boxes without going to a Lexus. The car drives like a dream, the interior is very comfortable and functional, and averaging close to 40mpg is wonderful.

Great review as usual. You might consider in your review of hybrids discussing the hybrid battery location, it’s cooling, it’s type , it’s warranty coverage and if the warranty is transferrable. Thank you….. keep up the good work!

It depends on how it’s done. I worked in the collision repair industry most of my life. If it’s painted like a black vehicle with clear coat it would be just fine. If it’s just the crap that they typically use, you are absolutely right, especially if the car is not garage.

No HUD, no power tilt and telescoping wheel, no 5th gen hybrid (like the new Camry has) and about $10k more than my 2022 Venza Limited. It's currently not offered for sale as there are issues Toyota needs to deal with. I'll keep my Venza for now :)

I only hope that the driver’s seat will raise sufficiently without killing the leg room. I am 5’5” and typically raise the seat quite high. In my present vehicle the seat actually goes forward as you raise it and I barely have enough leg room. I cannot imagine someone taller getting comfortable. But then they probably won’t raise the seat. I feel much safer when I can see out to my liking.

Hmm, idk, this car steps on Lexus’ toes a bit too much. I’d rather go for a Lexus NX that has a lower starting price than this, or get the RX that starts just above the top end price of the crown signia. I’m left kind of confused about who the target audience is for this vehicle. It’s too expensive for what it is…a Toyota station wagon. Also, haven’t they tried the station wagon like crossover approach with the first gen Venza? That didn’t work out too well from what I remember. At least the exterior is attractive (at least in my eyes).

So it got me thinking why they are discontinuing the Venza. Maybe the segment was too crowded style wise with the Ford Escape, Edge, Chevy Equinox, up coming Kia EV3 and WAY kut of it's range the Jaguar F-pace etc thus they decided to build something different.
    A station wagon.
It's apparent Lexus keeps cannibalizing ALL of Toyota vehicles and makes rhem more premium leaving little for Toyota aside from two Suv's. The Rav4 and Highlander. That's it. While Lexus has every option available in Toyotas inventory.
I feel Toyota frustration with coming up with something that doesn't infringe on Lexus NX to it's RX sales.
I wish they would have kept the Venza in it's line up as empty nesters don't want a Rav4 but need a somewhat luxurious small suv that isn't in Lexus pricing. The Venza hit the spot.
The Crown will be too big for 50 or so retired people.
Having said that they should put a V6 hybrid in it to give it a little more American muscle. Then that would be a yuppie hauler coming full circle for us 50+ crowd growing up with station wagons with beastly v8's that could haul a nice trailer.
The 4 cylinder hybrid works in a Venza not sure about the Crown signa.
Love to hear your thoughts on this.
    Just my two cents.
    Cheers.

This is not an SUV. It's a wagon...and a big expensive one at that. Same length as the current Highlander but 6 inches shorter in height. Toyota doesn't even put privacy glass on the rear windows because it's a wagon. The Crown Signia is an interesting car, but not compelling enough to seriously consider for most buyers. Mason and Drew do a great job on these auto reviews.. The Signia is nice, but it still has a major problem of having a very low roofline - just like the Venza and RAV4. Drew and Mason are both roughly 5' 8"-ish, and it looks like they both barely fit inside, but with very little headroom to spare. It would be hard to recommend the Signia to anyone over about 5' 8".. Not sure why Toyota can't come out with a SUV with a taller roof that has good outward visibility and comfort. This Crown Signia is really just a wagon or hatchback.. It has a very low roofline, and like the Venza with its lower roof - this low roof results in poor outward in all directions. Not good for safe driving or driving enjoyment.. and a lower roofline gives this Crown a low caved in feeling, and cramped interior (same problem that the Venza had). It would be a really nice if they would have made it an SUV by raising the roof about 3" to 4" inches.. That would improve outward visibility, driving enjoyment, and make the cabin much more comfortable and airy. Maybe Toyota can finally correct this problem by adding a Toyota Signia SUV with a 3" to 4" higher roof. That would be a great SUV.

Be so nice of Toyota would have simply raised that roof about 3 or 4 inches on the Crown.. That would help with cabin room, headroom and much better outward visibility.. and making the Crown a much better all around vehicle..

Remove the tariff, bring in more competitions, and you will be amazed at what you can buy from Chinese brands for $25k.
I heard Toyota Corolla hybrid OTD price in China is discounted more than 30%, now less than 19k CAD or 14K USD.
All car makers are taking advantages of North American buyers. No competition, they can charge us whatever they want, that is why you see 30k Corolla or 75k truck.
Here in Ontario Canada, you will be thankful if the dealer "only" charges you 1k above MSRP and can get you a Hybrid RAV4 within a year.

No hud, no power steering, no 4 way lumbar, no puddle lamps, less powerful radio (800w vs 1200), almost 2" less ground clearance, no spare...for about 8k more. Also those 21" rims are ridiculous, terrible in the east coast or midwest. On a positive note, I am glad a wagon is back on the market. The front end is just atrocious, the lighting elements are lackluster, and it looks like zero thought went into it. No fogs, no static cornering. The single projector housing is not a good look. Another boring rear light bar and the cheap integrated signals and brakes are so lazy. The interior is not much of anything really. Boring with no trim detail, and not very premium. Overall it is a very poor replacement for the Venza.

Yet this beautiful new wagon with a 21” wheel has no spare. Very unforgiving ride on a rough road. For Northeast winter driving that’s not a very comforting setup.
