Ford service manager here, the cost of the diesel motor is the cheapest part of the truck. The maintenance, fuel and def is the killer and adds up. Good choice.
I bought a new 2020 F250 on March 2020 and was specifically looking for the 7.3 gasser. I had a 2001 F250 with the 6.8 V10 before, never had any issues with the truck (except MPG). My 7.3 gets better mileage towing (normally less than 10K lbs) than the V10 did empty. Only have about 10K on the truck at this point, i have 0 regrets. Everyone else I know are running diesels, but I believe the overall operating costs for how I use the truck, the Godzilla makes better financial sense as well. Love my truck..
Totally agree. The diesel is more capable and gets better mpg but for what I use it for just not justifiable considering the cost. And the 7.3 is still an awesome option.
Thank you for sharing! Do you also mind sharing what your loaded and unloaded mileage was with the 6.8 V10? I know it was a great engine and I'm always curious what people saw for mileage on those bad boys.
@@heathmcateer I have a bumper pull 20' equipment trailer. When towing around 9K (usually kept speed about 65 on the highways) the V10 would average between 8-9 MPG. Empty at 75 it would get 11-12. With the Godzilla towing the same weight and doing 70 on the same highway it gets about 12. Best it's done empty at 75 is 17 MPG. Hope this helps!
It like my grandfather allways said pound for pound doller for doller you cannot beat a Ford and after owning 8 new pickups in my life time I've never had any mager problemd just minor so grand pa was right
Yup! Unless you're worried about parallel parking, the long bed is all advantages. Bigger fuel tank, more bed space, longer wheelbase (which means smoother ride and better towing stability). Plus, imho, it looks better.
I agree with each of your points except that I prefer the standard bed look. A friend of my told me ahead of time I was better off getting the long bed and he wasn't wrong. But I love the looks of this truck. The other downside to the long bed is that Shanna would be less likely to drive the truck if it were any bigger. I usually work remotely but when I do have to go to work in the car, she has to use the truck for her daily driving.
@@JustSimplifyingI just think it looks weird when the front end+cab looks so much longer than the bed. With the long bed, the two halves look closer in size. Plus, you notice the rake less.
Ive got a 22 with the 7.3. Pushing 30k miles, half from towing. Came from a duramax. I feel about the same as you. It is a great truck. The biggest con for me is towing. It has the power, but being gas wants to get up high in the revs. The downshifting in tow mode is annoying. And if you have cruise set on interstate, mine will down shift 2 gears if it drops 2 mph below set speed. That is very annoying, why not drop one gear to attempt to recover. I typically put in manual and babysit it when towing heavy on interstate. Thanks for the video. Cheers.
I had the same issue (downshifting 2 gears at a time) with my '21 7.3 Godzilla towing a 8400# tt.. Coming back home from a 4k mile trip and going thru a lot of hills & a mtn pass I figured it out. A semi was ahead of me was dropping gears and remembered way back when I spent a small bit of time driving a semi that you need to stay in the torque range, which on a semi is about a 200-400 rpm drop takes you out. I started down shifting a gear at a time with the manual gear selection ( + & - on the stock) while still in Tow/Haul; as my rpm's would drop to stay in the 2500-3200 rpm range on small hills & 3500-3800 on the long steep ones. Works so much better and less issues with the sudden down shift of two gears at a time.
After owning a 2016 Powerstroke, I'll never own another modern diesel. The DPF system is an absolute nightmare, and maintenance costs are crazy. I traded it in for a 2022 Godzilla, it's been great so far, with plenty of power.
I had a 16 psd and I had the same experience I got fed up was about to get a new 6.8 gas but I got a great deal on a failed fleet purchase for a 2023 f350 psd so I gave it another try. All I can say is they fixed everything I hated about my 16. Better fuel economy from 16’ 12 city/16 highways to 23’ 16 city/22 highway. Much better response quicker off the line. Way better interior and features even in lower trim levels and best of all an all new scr system that has its own injector making regents a breeze and almost unnoticeable and better def efficiency.
@@HuggyBearHikes Last time I checked, the 2023 doesn't have a delete option. Some sources have said that with the computer systems and checks it does, it won't be able to be deleted (something about the connected features doing diagnostics that are "live" and a computer reprogram won't won't fool the checks).
I tow a gooseneck 16k gvw loaded with hay 15k plus with my 2020 7.3 gas with 4:30s. I average 9 to 10 mpg 75 miles loaded then back empty. 6 mpg through local hills then once on the local highway it work its way up 9 plus loaded. I very had 2 6.7 diesels hauling the same that averaged 11mpg round trip
👍 nice review ! We ordered a ‘21 F350 SRW Lariat CCLB FX4 w/7.3L, 3:73 diffs for travel in retirement; really only use it for towing our 12k x 36’ 5th wheel. Love the truck for that purpose, 48gal tank provides great range. Have towed in the Rockies, plenty of power & stability; 10sp tran works fine in tow/haul, just took a little time for me to learn how best to use it.
Yeah I figured there are probably tricks for me to optimize what I'm doing when towing. I am a novice at towing (previously just utility trailers and small camper with a Tahoe) so the things that I mentioned probably are more of a driver problem than a truck problem.
I've got a 22 lariat with the 7.3. When towing down mountains, i just shift to M and put it in the gear i want to use. Otherwise it will go into 2nd gear and rev the hell out of the engine.
For the CarPlay audio all you have to do is press and hold the volume and skip forward buttons at the same time until the screen goes dark. It resets and works again
@@JustSimplifyingget it in and let em check it out. Mine was doing the same thing and it got to the point I was rebooting the system once a week or more. Garantee your losing your APIM
I have a 22 f150 and this happens some times. I just go I got the phone list menu and click on the CarPlay logo and it re established the connection and it fixed the audio issue every time.
I have a 2022 F350 4x4 Quad Cab XLT with the 7.3. Long Bed. SRW. I thought about diesel. I could afford the diesel. I bought the 7.3 instead. Why? Low maintenance. Low cost maintenance and none of that acidic DEF crap that causes so many problems. XLT is more than I need. You paid 78,550 so you could have had a diesel daily if you were willing to drop a trim level. I got the F350 and my payload is 4069#. I got the auto fold mirrors. Love them. Love the 8’ bed. Love the 48 gallon tank that comes with 8’ bed. I love the keypad. I think I got the XLT mostly for that damn key pad. I changed out my own headlights to LEDs. I got a sliding rear window and need it for a camper. I got the electric power pedals. Don’t need them. I got the upfitter switches and have a set of BRIGHT backups hooked up on them. Upfitter are cheap. I have the Tow Package and those additional camera angles are great and it will competently back my trailers up by itself but honestly I don’t use that feature all that much. I don’t have a center console and that’s just fine. Adds no value for me. I should’ve done a carpet delete to make cleaning it out easier. Ford trucks are phenomenal for rear seat under storage. I have a TON of shit under there. I put a heavy Ford rubber bed mat in there but I don’t have bed liner. I’m gonna do my own bed liner eventually. Now the 7.3. My GOODNESS what a fabulous engine. Tons of low end torque. I just took a 22k pound dump trailer to the dump the other day. Truck knew it was there but engine and frame didn’t care. Many people ask me why the hell I bought a SuperDuty and not a 150. The answer is the engine! If they put the 7.3 in the F-150 I’d buy it! SuperDuties are fabulous trucks. I just don’t like how tall they are. But o do love my tailgate step. I use it all the time. It is essential for me at 5’ 8” I’m at 66,000 miles. Not a bit of trouble. Love the thing. Best vehicle I ever bought new. I went out the door for $62k back in 2022 COVID days. It’s already paid off and I hope to keep her for a long time. I would buy it again for sure. I might even consider an XL with the STX package cuz that’s all you really need. Oh last point. I just put Michelin MS/2’s on my truck. I now average 15.5mpg around town. Gained nearly a whole mpg. Those tires are amazingly good on this truck if you are like me and you will rarely go bushwhacking.
We talked about the cost of the Lariat trim vs the diesel. But we know ourselves and that we have gotten spoiled. So we wanted the leather seats and some of the extra creature comforts more than the diesel.
I have the XLT version of your truck. We pull a 35' 5ver at 15K Lbs. 4.10 gears. We get 8.5 MPG pulling the camper all over the southeast and Midwest. I wouldn't trade it for a diesel and it's headaches. Mountains are not an issue. Going down a steep grade takes some practice. The software does need a little tweak for grade shifting but it does a pretty good job. I find the more i drive in the mountains the better it drives because I'm more familiar with what the truck will do especially going down a grade.
Yeah I figure half the problem is just me getting better at knowing the truck and how to use it properly in those few situations. The diesel exhaust brake is just kind of like a cheat code. Makes things way easier. But obviously not easy enough for me to think it's worth the extra money and maintenance costs!
Fuel mileage towing is horrible but glad you like it i guess i get 10 miles per gallon with my semi truck thats up to 80,000 pounds and my ram 3500 dually gets around 12 pulling my gooseneck and 20,000 pounds on the trailer
I would disagree on saying it's horrible. Yes, it is definitely not nearly as good as a diesel. But even if the diesel got 15 mpg towing it still would cost me a lot more than this truck. By the time I would spend the extra $10,000 on the engine, have to add DEF costs, have higher maintenance cost, have a higher chance of maintenance due to the emissions crap they put on, and pay more per gallon for the diesel - the diesel would cost way more that what's saved by burning fewer gallons. So to me the only reason to justify the diesel is due to towing heavy like you do. Since we don't plan on towing over 10k pounds, this truck is great for us.
My wife only drives the kids to school, dr appointments, and grocery’s and does 15k miles a year, 9k miles in a year that thing is literally brand new of course it still runs good lol, you won’t regret the diesel
Another reason not to go "dually" is that you (usually) lose payload capacity compared to standard (6') bed because the extra weight of the bed effectively uses payload (on the tires, axles, etc.).
Great review have the 2023 F250 7.3 pulling a roughly 7k loaded 28 ft tow behind toy hauler. Added the road active suspension to reduce my sag on a 700 lb tongue weight which I thought this truck would fix which was the same problem my F150 had with the sag. Still had the sag so put on the suspension and used the equalizer hitch to get me somewhat level but still with some sag. That part just not sure what I am missing to get level and honestly disappointed I needed to add the road active suspension. However it did improve the ride quality unloaded and stability towing so there was a win there. Towing I get 7-8.5 on the 3.73 axel and really don’t feel the trailer behind me absolutely love the power. Had a few recalls to replace the instrument cluster and flash the computer for camera issues that I never encountered. Not one mechanical issue with 16k on it plan to keep it til it dies its a great truck super happy
I have not gotten around to hitting the scales with our 5th wheel yet. But our pin weight should be in the vicinity of 1,000 pounds. The truck sits pretty level when loaded. We do have the 350 though which has the additional leaf spring in the back. I still wouldn't think that size trailer would cause you to sag that much. I'm almost to 15k on the truck now and have still had no issues. Just had the camera recall done but that's the only one that affected my truck.
I understand thinking a truck is meant to have an 8 foot bed, but most people refer to it as "standard" because it makes up the majority of the orders. It's rare to even find the long bed on a lot without special ordering. Then with the half tons trucks some of the manufacturers have a 5.5" bed, 6.75" bed, and the 8 ft bed. So just depends on your perspective.
@@JustSimplifying didn't mean to sound critical. Just something that amuses me and most people probably agree with you. I might even agree in a half ton truck. But if that were a dually, where you can only get the 8' bed, you would have to call the 8' standard. I think the 6.5' has become far more popular due to the crew cabs becoming the biggest seller. My crew cab combined with my 8' bed makes for a long long truck. My kids tease me about my 'land yacht", LOL. I love it.
@@poundsonwood If we had a set home base and just used the truck for towing to a campground I would have went dually. But when we bounce around to various places it would be such a pain getting into town and finding parking spots. If we didn't have dogs I would love a standard cab F450. I love the looks of those things!
My 2023 F250 7.3 gas has been in the shop for 2 weeks now, they can't seem to fix the rear axle noise that developed over only 10,000 miles. Finally diagnosed and said it needed replacement pinion and carrier bearings (which I would have guessed). They replaced those parts and now say it has a new noise and they are tearing it all down again. I bought heavy duty F250 to replace my 1/2 ton Toyota Tundra because I thought it would be safer and more reliable towing my 6500 lb camper. Seems that may have been a mistake. Love the 7.3 engine though....
@@JustSimplifying literally one hour after I wrote this the dealer called, truck was ready. No more axle noise, its very quiet now, only that sweet V8 sound and some tire noise, so here's hoping. I really do like the truck. Expecially that 7.3... Enjoyed your review by the way.
I have a 24 Rapid red, first red truck I ever bought. I typically get white, silver or gray and I also thought is red too much, but it grew on me and I’m extremely happy with the color and the truck to all your points
I ruled white out right away. My last few company vehicles were white and I started noticing half the cars on the road were white. Then half the trucks and SUVs were blacked out. I loved the Velocity Blue and was planning on that but then they got rid of it for 2023. So red won out.
Oh sweet. I was thinking of the external tanks you added in the bed. Unfortunately I'll have to put a few other projects ahead of that but it definitely will have to go on the list of upgrades. Thanks for clarifying.
I have a 22 F250 Lariat Ultimate Tremor. I had the Transfer Flow tank put in and it makes the thing have a 550 to 700 Mike range. The tank replaces the factory tank. Since I don’t use it off road the minimal reduction in center clearance. It is so comfortable we make the 1000 mile drive from Florida to Pa in one day. Put timbrons on as well.
@@FordF250Tremor That range would be fantastic. It's definitely on my to do list. I have already spec'd out Timbrens. I plan on getting those before we head out again this fall.
Unfortunately I’m not at retirement yet. But the truck has to last me until then. I’ve got about 8 years til I call it wrap on a career. Will still have to work but just not at the level I am now.
I had a 2008 F-250 with the 6.8L V-10 and we had a 30’ fifth wheel then upped it to a 40’ with 3 slides and it did fine hauling it. Yeah I was slow going up the mountains here in Tennessee but it was no big deal. I loved that truck until the day I sold it 14 years later. We sold it and the RV together and quit camping. Your truck is exactly what I wanted for a replacement but at the time there was the chip shortage and I couldn’t get one so I ended up with a Tundra. You did the right thing getting the Godzilla. Unless you are hauling heavy loads constantly or have a huge ego and more cash than you know what to do with the diesel is a waste and a maintenance headache. I’m a former diesel mechanic and I just can’t come up with a reason to own one.
Yeah we still love ours. I’ve said I’d go up to 15k towing with this truck if we were just moving around within a few state radius most of the time. Never towed out west though so would have to debate that.
@@skeim5620 not sure about your configuration, but I think max towing on mine is 17,500. Even if the truck can, I probably wouldn’t. But I’m also the over cautious type.
Nice truck. My 23 has about 6k on it so far. I enjoy the truck and haven’t had any issues with jt. Sometimes the screen glitches but like you said all manufacturers do the same. Sometimes my transmission is a little jumpy in 1-2 gear when cold and un loaded. But otherwise smooth. Currently we have a 4k lb travel trailer and I’ve gotten 10.5mpg. On trailer mode it goes to 9.5-10, but on normal it drives fine on the roads we take. The only thing that bothers me is how easy it gets rock chips on the front end. My old ford I drove for 15 years had about 5 chips in the hood. This new truck has 5 already, even the middle of the hood has chips. Seems to chip easy.
I've been lucky enough to not get the hood chipped but have a few on the bumper. I saw on TFL where they asked a GM engineer about the huge flat front ends on all these trucks. He said to get the towing numbers they have to increase cooling so much that the only way to do it is the huge front end. Of course that also means less aerodynamic and more crap hitting it.
I added a ford bug deflector this past week to see if that helps. Not the look I wanted on my truck but if it keeps my hood from being chipped and dented, I’m okay with it. My truck has the chrome package so I don’t have to worry about bumpers. Did that on my old truck and they take a beating. I’m an automotive painter, so I see that everyday. It’s unavoidable
@@lowbluerangerI got a bug deflector too, could tell that hood would be a chip magnet. Got the official Ford one with my rewards points, I think it looks good. Also, mine is a Platinum so painted bumper so I did PPF on it right away.
By the way anyone contemplating an F-350 vs and F-250 - my two cents - get the 350 every day. No brainer. My payload is 4069#. I think the equivalent 250 is like 3400. Payload is important. There ain’t a hill of beans much difference between them except for stiffer / more springs. Yes it rides a little stiffer. But I’ve never been in an F250 that I thought rode “soft” compared to my 350. In my home state of Louisiana they don’t make you register it commercial and I didn’t have to insure it commercial either. So it costs me as much as a 250 to insure and register. I think the upfront cost is maybe $400 more? I honestly forget. I remember researching before purchase and after I found out about registration and insurance I quit looking at the 250’s. Not sure about 250’s but an additional coat for the 350 was a I have a 3” receiver hitch. It is massive rated for towing. Everything that size costs more too so beware. But my boss just saw me about to hook up to his dump trailer and he saw the receiver on my truck and he said “oh that’ll do!”
That is exactly why I went for the 350 over the 250. The cost difference was in that $400-500 range. I'm with you, I don't see the point of the 250 unless a state requires different registration status or something. And if the ride is that big of a deal to someone, they may as well get an F150 and a smaller camper.
Hey! You e got great taste as I got the same truck/engine combo as you. Although I did spring for the Tremor package. You noted about fuel tank size…I installed a TransferFlow 58-gal tank. They finally came out with a gas version. About $4k installed. My range is about 750 miles now with that thing. And when it’s full, the ride is so much better from an SD truck.
We debated on the Tremor package. I figured since the truck was mainly for towing and I have the Jeep for off roading, I was better off saving the money on that one.
I don't understand how people can pay that much for a vehicle. I make 800 dollars a week . I work maintenance . I would love to have one, but I can't afford the tires by them self . I can't imagine having a 1500 dollar note. That's half of my months' pay. I guess I am stupid and don't know how to make more money. Where I live, I am limited, and I don't want to start over at 50 years old. Nice truck if I win the lottery. I will definitely buy one. Great video. 👍
I get it. If we hadn’t sold our house and bought a used 5th wheel I wouldn’t have been able to afford this one. And at least with the gas engine and my company discount I’m well under $1500 a month.
If your under 10pound towing, you can get an F150 with the 5.0 and the 373 rear end. Saving a ton on the purchase price and get 11 to 13 mpg.. just saying
Just because an F150 can tow 10,000 pounds doesn’t mean that it should. And even if it’s within the max towing capacity it’s hard to find an F-150 that has adequate payload for a fifth wheel. On top of that, if I had gotten an F150 I would have limited my options on what camper to get. We didn’t go shop for this light of a trailer. It was just the floor plan we liked. But now we have the option to upgrade and can have stress free towing with the lighter trailer that we do have. Not to mention the amount of work we have been doing on our property and the ability to tow heavy equipment when needed.
Putting Timbrens on would only make your ride even more harsh. The truck is jarring over expansion joints because it is light for the HD suspension. My 23 F250 with PSD rides smoother given the bit of extra weight, but I only have a payload of 3,200.
Thanks for the info. I had been in some forums and read conflicting reviews. Some people said they loved the and made a huge improvement. Others said it was worse. That's why I have waited to buy anything.
Im in the market for a new f250, and im still debating between 7.3 and 6.7 psd (8 feet bed). Im an hvac mechanic, i haul more than i’d tow, nothing too crazy approx. 500lbs in equipments. I do drive 90% highways. There’s a possibility of a camper in the future. Im leaning towards diesel, i have never owned a diesel though. I’ve test driven the 2024 diesel and it was sweet, and my uncle owns 2021 7.3 which he gets 14 mpg.
I own my own company and have had a very large variety of high end personal trucks and I’ve always gone right back to my gasoline engines as far easier to maintain. The diesel gets 5-7 mpg better than gas but also takes far more expensive maintenance (14 quarts of oil) and with all the needed diesel restrictions and future pricey repairs it’s just not at all needed for what your use of the truck is. In addition, not every gas station has diesel so you did great! 👍🏻 HIGHLY RECOMMEND Amsoil Signature series for ALL your fluid needs as I’ve been running a couple of my personal trucks with extremely high abuse and zero failures all attributed to Amsoil Signature Series. Good luck and God Bless

Both have Special Equipment than can Flush and Fill (instead of Drain and Fill). I have previously owned several diesel pickups...towing goosenecks - horse trailers, stock combo trailers and flatbed trailers. I now have a 2022 Ford F350 7.3L Lariat 4WD Tremor. Extremely Pleased with the truck! Flush and Fill the Coolant...gets all of the old coolant out of the engine block, heater core, etc. Flush and Fill the Power Steering. Flush and Fill the automatic transmission (10R140). Keep in mind there are several people that are strong against Flush and Fill and only service with the Drain and Fill method on automatic transmissions. I and other guys strongly disagree with that opinion. However, I would not Flush and Fill any automatic transmission above 75,000 - 80,000 miles on the odometer which is under the 100,000 miles recommended by the experts...maintenance / repair shops, BG Products, Wynn's, etc. The 10R140 behind the 6.7L Powerstroke Diesel and the 7.3L godzilla is in fact 'serviceable'. The fluid transfer machines used by BG Products and Wynn's require different adapters for the various automatic transmissions. Ford states the 10R140 is sealed with "lifetime fluid" and does not need to be serviced. I do not care what the engineers purport, I completely disagree with that viewpoint. Anyone with basic knowledge of physics understands thermal activity (heat) is the death of mechanical systems, tires, etc. There is no such thing as "lifetime fluid"...at some point, thermal activity will breakdown and degrade any and all fluids, including Amsoil products. I'm not against Amsoil products...just not for me as I cannot justify the additional cost since I will still service via Flush and Fill more frequently than recommended by Amsoil. Quality Filters are very important. I would recommend using only two types of oil filters for the 7.3L godzilla -------> Motorcraft FL-820S .....OR..... Ford Racing CM-6731-FL820. In addition, I would not purchase either filter from Amazon or eBay since there are some counterfeits from those sources.
Mpg is a negligible difference. I have never got more than 14 mpg average out of either my old 2017 duramax or my work truck with a 6.7 powerstroke(2020 model). My 7.3 averages 13.5 running around Dallas/FtWorth with stop any go traffic and regularly running 80. It will even eek out 16 mpg if you stick to 70 on flat ground. In addition, the shift selector on GM trucks gets in the viewing way of their large rectangular infotainment screen. Simply put, Ford engineers a superior truck in numerous ways! 5. @ 14:06 - Towing - really liked your comments and information on three (3) different trailers. Completely Agree...I miss the exhaust break on diesel trucks. All of my previous Super Duty trucks had the longer wheelbase with 8' bed. I prefer the shorter wheelbase and tighter turning radius and do not miss the long bed because I have trailers to haul stuff when needed. In addition, I have not noticed any meaningful difference in ride quality. Check Out Sulastic Rubber Springs ---------> www.sulastic.com/en/ 6. @ 17:45 - Always good to get the wife's (Shanna's) perspective.
Just as a comp... I have a '21 F350, 7.3l gas with 3.73rear & tow a 8400# tt. I leave mine in tow/haul but use the +/- on the shift lever and gear down manually when going up or down hills. Towing thru the hills & mtns of the Pacific NW, I rarely use the brakes going down hills regardless of length or grade. I may have to 'stab' them a few times on rare occasions. Over 12k of towing I have averaged 10.3mpg's. Worst was 7 in a head wind, 13.6 on a very flat road with a speed limit of 50mph.
Yeah next time I tow through mountain areas I’m going to try the manual shifting. Was hoping the computer would do a better job but oh well. And as far as mpg, I’m not the best to compare to. My driving habits are not the most fuel efficient!
I have a 2023 F350 7.3 4.3 gears short bed towing 5th wheel that's about 13-14klbs and I got 7.7MPG. Range totally sucks because of the 34gallon tank. I plan on upgrading to the Diesel long bed for more range. Thank goodness for RV life app so I can scout gas stations to see if they have RV pumps. Getting gas in normal pumps is a pain in the ass.
Pilot/Flying J has a pdf you can download that shows which stations have dedicated RV lanes. I created a Guide in my Apple Maps that saves them. I check the satellite image to make sure it's easy to get in and out and if it is I add it to the list. Then when I map my route out I can see where they fall along the route and incorporate those as stop points. Sounds like more work than it really is. But yeah, with the diesel it wouldn't even matter..
@@JustSimplifying Where can I find this PDF? That would help a ton. In RV Life I zoom in on all the gas stations and look at street view to check. It's a pain. I love this truck but regret not getting the long bed diesel for the bigger tank and more mpg/power towing. Like you said about the engine noise, going down hills in Arkansas made it sound like my truck was going to blow up.
You have an awesome truck man. I have really been considering the 7.3. Not ready mo ey wise just yet but hopefully soon i can get the truck i want. I love the red and black too. Really everything about it is sweet. ✌🏼
Thanks. Yeah I have been hoping to buy a truck for about five years before I could finally do it. And even then I could only do it because we sold our house to travel.
@JustSimplifying Yea its tough. Everything is so expensive it's not funny. It's crazy to think what we spend on a truck now a days. But,, I have to have them for my business. 🤷♂️
Thanks for the video. The 7.3 is a monster. Only thing i recommend is keep the oil fresh. It is unclear if ford has resolved the lifter issues. It is widely believed to be due to extended oil life intervals. Time will tell. Also, you arent missing anything w/ the 8 foot bed. Its more trouble than it's worth. Next time you are cruising through the mountains you should video how the truck handles it!
Ford recommends oil changes at 5K miles for "heavy use" applications but of course that's rather vague. I feel like if you tow heavy say 6 times in 6 months, change the oil after the last heavy tow regardless of how many miles you went. If it's only 3 heavy tows in that time, change at 7,500 (assuming full synthetic). No way would I go to 10K.
I read up on the lifter issues a lot before I bought. It sounded like most of the issues were with Class C campers and box trucks that spent a lot of time idling. But I question the oil change frequency as well. They claim you can use the on board oil life monitor but mine still showed 35% oil life left when I changed it.
@JustSimplifying My oil life monitor is strange just changed my oil and reset it. Now on my ford app it says 100 percent oil life but estimates only 2700 miles till next oil change.
That's odd. I'll need to look at mine again. I will probably do oil changes every 6k. Even if that is sooner than the computer says, a few extra oil changed over the life of the truck is worth it if it lasts longer.
@@JustSimplifying I'm planning on doing around 5,000 mile oil changes. Maybe the estimate will change kind of confusing. I treat it good and use ultra platinum synthetic no way I'm dumping that out after 2700.
Good looking truck, one thing you said I don’t understand was if my 5th wheel was 10k pds id go to diesal???, they make half tons to pull 10000 pds , why you be scared to pull a 5th wheel over 10k with a f350?
I wouldn’t be scared to pull a 5th wheel over 10k. But a third of the miles we have done have been towing. So if I had even more weight pushing me down hill, the transmission shifting would annoy me too much. So at that point I’d prefer the diesel exhaust brake. Also, if we towed just once in a while I’d be fine towing heavier. But I want this truck to last a long long time. So pushing its limits all the time isn’t the best way to make that happen. Just like your point about half tons towing 10,000 pounds. Yes they are made so they can, doesn’t necessarily mean you should.
Yup. Sold our house last summer. Will be building in Kentucky over the next few years. So I will be pulling some skid steers, mini excavators, and dump trailers with it. But that will just be from rental company to the property.
Definitely the smart thing to do. And I know it's protecting my investment but I'm just not a fan of the look. That's the advantage of a blacked out truck. You wouldn't notice it as much.
This is true...mine is the magnetic metallic. But Think it would blend good with your grill...my last truck was a blue color and I Said the same thing about the look, but it sucked when I started getting rock chips in it. So I got the bug deflector for my current truck and surprisingly I really like the look.
There is a update for your transmission TSB free from the dealership takes about half hour is has to do with the computer update if you didn't know already. Nice truck safe travels 👍
Good to know. I knew there was a recall on it that I've been meaning to get done. That is just for the rear view camera though. I'll definitely be asking about the transmission TSB now!
What gearing did you get in the axles??? I love the video, but they never say what gears they ordered in the axles. Axle gearing greatly affects fuel mileage and towing.
Are you sure you forgot the scales option or was it not available when you placed the order? Same thing happened to me, I thought I merely overlooked the option then later learned it didn’t become available until late in the 2023 order process.
When I did the build it showed it as an option. Then at one point when I was going back and forth on options, I started from scratch with the build. I assumed I missed it then. But maybe they had removed it in that time frame. I know that was one of the items that could add a lot of time to the orders.
Jeff bro the hair cut looks killer man… No longer looking like Jesus whom I love but now you look like MMA dude! I think twice before messing with you man! Not into RED trucks until yours lol.. Seriously that F350 Sport RED looks Ferrari, absolutely stellar🏁But guess what, I see you getting a Diesel lol ….I’m owner of a F150 2.7 and tow our TT Grand Design 22mle … But see myself in a Diesel F250 XLT or Duramax GMC Elevation 3/4 … Shout out from Miami, FL..
Ha. Thanks man. The GMCs do make it a tough decision. They look good and the Duramax is a great engine. I'll give you props for towing anywhere near Miami. I hate driving down there when I'm not towing! Can't imagine pulling a trailer through there.
@@Regilliwret Congestion. Just too many people! There is a good bit of traffic in all the major cities in Florida but Miami seems to be on another level. There are so many people from so many different states and countries that driving habits are extremely unpredictable. And of course that leads to wrecks and backups and all that.
@@JustSimplifying that sounds like a nightmare. I used to live in a bigger city (not Miami/NYC/Atlanta big though) and the near constant stoplight-to-stoplight driving + narrow lanes in a lot of places + narrow parking lots (and spots) got old really fast, and I only have a Ram 1500 crew cab with a 5.7 hemi and a 5’7 bed to navigate. No idea why Ram and Ford use variable oil pumps on the 5.7 hemi and 7.3 Godzilla engines, and maybe this isnt an issue with the 7.3, but one the biggest theories for what causes the hemi tick is a lot of idling because the oil pressure plummets and there isn’t enough oil making it the lifters to keep them adequately lubricated when the RPMs drop to 600ish when stopped… a frequent scenario in bigger cities.
Just took a trip to Kentucky that was about 300 miles each way. I checked just before we got into Red River Gorge area and we were at 17mpg for the trip. By the time we hit the road to come back home it had dropped to 15. But that was a lot of stop and go through towns in the RRG area. Plus doing a lot of work on our property. Forgot to check final round trip number when I got home though.
Can you please tell me what size Fifth wheel you have? I have a 2024 F250 and want to get a fifth wheel. Not sure how big I can go exactly. I too have the 7.3…
You could definitely go bigger than what we have. We have a 2018 Reflection 230RL. So gross vehicle weight is only 9,000 lbs and it's about 29 ft long. It's just the two of us so the floor plan works well for us and it is easy to find spots it fits in. Shanna wants a Brinkley Z3100 which is about 34 ft long and has a gross vehicle weight of 14,950. Now that we are only moving the camper a few times a year, I wouldn't hesitate to pull that with this truck if I could actually afford to that fifth wheel. But we will probably just stay with what we have since I'm cheap.
@@JustSimplifying thanks for the input..I never say someone is cheap..I would say Frugal, which is smart. No need in having more than you need. Can always spend the extra money elsewhere. That was simply a beautiful truck you bought! I just bought a XLT..was going to go Lariat..but I found mine at a ford dealer with 600 miles on it. Mind you sticker was 70,000.00. I bought it for 54,000. I couldn’t pass it up. Only thing it doesn’t have is leather, fifth wheel prep package, and heated steering wheel. But, over all I have what I need and I have the 7.3 like I wanted. I’m going too have leather put in it and I will be complete. Also will get the bed cover..thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately all these manufacturers have long term issues. GM is finally settling there diesel fuel pump lawsuits, Ram has eTorque issues, and Ford has the lifter failures on some of the trucks. I read up on it before purchasing. Various stories out there but seems to be certain lifters they were using early on that didn't hold up to low RPMs. So issue was more common on commercial vehicles or trucks that idled a lot more (box trucks, campers, etc). I make a point to not let mine idle that long and don't trust that oil life monitor. Still doing oil changes every 5k. I also plan on buying the Ford extended warranty before the factory warranty expires. Luckily the lifter thing doesn't seem to be too wide spread so far and I still love the truck. So we will see what happens in the next few years.
No it doesn't. Once you get to speed it is a pretty normal driving experience. I normally lock out 10th gear and see how it does. If it starts shifting between 8th and 9th a lot I'll lock 9th out too. But usually that isn't even an issue.
@@JustSimplifying Thanks - my old 5.4 Superduty was awful towing my 26' TT....would always be revving between 4-5K. Sold it and got a 2013 F150 EcoBoost and I now hover around 1800K - no complaints except for finding the sweet spot in the 6 speed when towing. I really miss my SD, just wasn't sure how the 7.3L (or the 6.8L) are holding out - and if the glitches have been fixed yet on the 10 Speed Trans.
@@bobfuhrwerk2869 We don't travel with the camper again until Labor Day. But next trip I'll try to remember to have Shanna record the RPMs when we are at speed on the interstate.
Your payload is just under 4k!? My 1998 F150 xl ext cab did 5k of gravel in its 8ft bed & when my dad had it for construction work it did much more then that, it was a 4.6 triton lol
Yeah? Well I CAN drive my truck with just my feet if I wanted to, but that doesn’t make it a good idea! Seriously, you have more than doubled that poor truck’s payload capacity by putting that much gravel in it. I hope you weren’t taking that out on the highway, that is a YUGE liability to other drivers. Not to mention, payload capacities are not “suggestions” like you think they are, it’s the LAW.
hey when towing does your truck ever get up into the redline on the tach cause my 2023 f250 does, especialy when im towing uphill when it down shifts itll get up to about 6200 rpm when its shifts. my f250 has been a pile of shit multiple problems including a rearend rebuilt at 4k miles i havent been happy
Ours has never revved like that. I'd say 4000-4500 rpm range is about where it hits on the downhill sections. We are taking the 5th wheel back to Kentucky next week and then through Tennessee and Alabama in October so I'll keep a closer eye to see. Did you buy chance buy the Ford Protect extended warranty? I may get the top end package of that before my factory warranty is up. It's expensive but figure one major repair before 100k would probably be close to breaking even on it. Two major repairs and I'd be ahead.

@@windzer Well that sucks. I was between the Ford and the GMC AT4. But there were a lot of people with the GM trucks having all kinds of electrical issues which worried me. If I'd decided on diesel I probably would have went with the AT4 anyway. But since I couldn't justify the diesel, the 7.3 was the deciding factor. Luckily it isn't my daily driver and by next springs we will be full time on our land. So if I get the extended warranty and anything comes up, I can just drop it off.
No. I prefer the fixed. I believe they come with the Lariat Ultimate package unless you get the Sport Package as well. The Sport Package over rides it to the fixed. I specifically asked the dealer about that because I was going to have them delete the power running boards if I needed to.
Yes it does! I was looking at trucks six or seven years ago and mapping out how much I needed to save up. Figured at the time I'd get a truck in three years or so. Boy was I wrong.
yea nope they can keep it ill buy a wreck first just crazy prices and to much stuff on them may be a ulta base unit so i can install a radio my self like a 400 android top self unit
Buy extended warranty, about 27 to 35k miles they will be pulling the cab to fix cam phaser. Funny how the after market kit just eliminates it, but under warranty they replace with stock and yes you will be back to the dealer. I had 2018 and a 2020, stopped buying fords. Cam phasers has been an issue since 1994, and yes the 7.3 gas has it. Truth is, all manufactures have issues, sometimes you luck out and get a good one. Most of them dont show issues till outside the 36k mile basic warranty. Buy what you like cause this is a very nice truck, i my self got burned. My truck was actually on the lift with the cab off, engine torn apart, i walked into nissan, sight unseen traded it in on a titan xd, they didnt bat an eye. Gave me more than i owned and that truck was sold same day they put it out. I wss upfront honest and they called ford to confirm truck was there getting fixed. Only issue i have had with my xd was the soot sensor went out. Other than that 1st year towed 10k lbs every weekend. Last year and so far this year commuting and random towing. I also drive it enough to kick in regen once a week. But i do like your truck, its beautiful.
I researched the cam issues early on. Seems like outside of the vans, rv, and commercial setups it is pretty rare. The more time the engine idles seem to increase the chances from what I've seen. But I do agree, we already plan on buying an extended warranty before the factory one runs out. We should be under 10k miles a year so a ten year warranty should cover us pretty well.
I have 4.30’s in my 2020 7.3L and I usually get around 10 MPG just driving around town. BUT, I drive it like I stole it, AND, I knew that was gonna be the case when I bought it. I didn’t buy it for “Fuel Mileage” it’s a truck, none of them are really fuel sippers. 😂😂
@@DanMar5858 Agreed!! If I wanted a truck with good gas mileage I would have got a half ton with a 3.0L diesel. But I wanted a big ass truck that does whatever I want. And I drive it accordingly. So most people will get better mpg than me.

Hate to tell you but that truck won’t last until you retire. It’s a Ford! I had one and it was in and out of the shop. Each time costing anywhere from one to eight thousand dollars. After 150,000 miles I had enough.
I hope you are wrong. I also hope to retire before this truck has 100,000 miles on it. And it sucks you had so many issues with your truck, but you can find owners of any brand that had similar experiences. It's a crap shoot unfortunately.
Plenty of GM trucks in and out of the shop for warranty work and repairs after the expiration of the warranty. Unfortunately, nowadays...ALL BRANDS have problems from A to Z...little items to big problems with engines and transmissions. Just a few years ago, GM dealt with a GIGANTIC Class Action Lawsuit with their 8L90 (8 speed) automatic transmissions...tens of thousands of units had problems on these transmissions used in pickups and large SUV's. Furthermore, two to three years ago, GM had issues and problems with lifters delaminating on the 6.2L gas engine.
Trust me, I know. I wish I could have found a higher end fifth wheel in the 12-13k range but a similar floor plan. We wanted to be able to fit in some smaller campgrounds so wanted the 30 foot range. But all the manufactured assume if you buy in that range you want light. I think there is a market for smaller fifth wheel that still have higher end finishes.
Ford has the best exterior design. However, the clown bar graph main gauges are a joke. Ford needs to hire Porsche or Honda instrument designers if they can't figure out how to do functional gauges that's actually useful without looking like they have no clue what they were doing!!!
One of the things I liked on the Ram was that even though they had the huge center screen, the gauges were actually standard needle gauges. Silverado was like that for 2022 as well but the new interiors of theirs went all digital screens too.
@@JustSimplifying There are many advantages to a pure analog gauge over digital or even hybrid gauges as Ford has done with the bar graphs with digital numbers in the middle! • They are far more easier to read than digital gauges as you only hace to get a sense of the relative needle position on the dial face and you'll know approximately the speed of the vehicle or engine speed without actually looking at the exact numbers!!! • They are faster reading under all lighting and environment conditons compared to digital gauges! • They are just better looking and creates a more comfortable environment for the driver without creating distractions and ease driver fatigue on long road trips!!! • Porsche has one of the best instrument designer team on the planet and look at how clean their instruments are on all their cars!!! • Aircraft instrumentation and even military vehicles all have clean analog instruments for ease of communicating the information to the pilots and drivers!!! • What Ford has done with their new instruments is actually takeing 4 steps backwards as it is worse compared to their old analog gauges they use to have in all the SuperDuties!!!!
Yeah, putting it simply in reality that gas truck is far more reliable than the power stroke. There’s so many things that can go wrong and it ain’t just deaf. It’s the CP three pumps that have grenade 1000 engines hammered main bearings because the crank is just too small for the amount of power And if you outside of the towing gear even 10,000 pounds you’ll destroy the main bearings overtime. Ford realized when they started forcing these V6 TwinTurbo on people back in 17 they had made a huge mistake because they lost 20% of their base over to other platforms, and since they only had the coyote, they were severely lacking, and here they are back with a plain old pushrod there’s a reason his maintain the pushrod for so long because it’s a money maker and it’s extremely reliable, especially the hemi. I have a 5.7 hemi and I tow over 10,000 pounds with it but when it’s empty, I guess 19 to 20 miles to the gallon on the freeway . It’s unfortunate that Ford had so much problems with their other large gas engine that they had to come out with the 73 because it got better mileage, unproduced almost as much horsepower and torque
Ford service manager here, the cost of the diesel motor is the cheapest part of the truck. The maintenance, fuel and def is the killer and adds up. Good choice.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. Was definitely a big decision for us. We are happy with our choice though.
@seekandsave1126 2020 was the first year for the 7.3 gas in a F250. Not sure what you're talking about.
It’s a 350 we need them for the work I do.
The gas tank was a reason I have stuck with long beds. You get a 48 gallon tank with the long bed.
A guy has to get whatever works best for them. And you did.
@@JustSimplifyingI just think it looks weird when the front end+cab looks so much longer than the bed. With the long bed, the two halves look closer in size. Plus, you notice the rake less.
Transfer flow now makes a 58 gallon tank for the 7.3 CCSB. It’s not cheap but it’s available.
Tuning will get rid of all that
After owning a 2016 Powerstroke, I'll never own another modern diesel.
Way better interior and features even in lower trim levels and best of all an all new scr system that has its own injector making regents a breeze and almost unnoticeable and better def efficiency.
you're right about the DPF system, it is very pricey to replace almost 4k. like dude wtf?
Why not just delete all of it if you live in a state where they don't do emmisions tests on diesels
@@HuggyBearHikes Last time I checked, the 2023 doesn't have a delete option.
Exactly what I do while towing in the Rocky Mountains. That's why the M option is there!

That takes a little too long. I have noticed that if you hit the screen off 3times it will cycle thru and car play works again
I've got nearly the same payload in my 23 STX XL with the 7.3 Godzilla. 4.30 gears with E locker and dual alternators and batteries.
It is essential for me at 5’ 8”
I’m at 66,000 miles.
What's the gearing in your truck??? I love these videos about these trucks, but they never state what gearing they have.
Hate to be that guy but DEF is a caustic, not an acid.
Great overview! We have had a lot of the same thoughts about our f350 with the 7.3.
You can reset your center screen while driving by pressing the on off switch and fast forward button together for 10 seconds.
Yeah that is the best trick I've found. Pretty quick and easy. This is where the comments sections on here are awesome!
If you get 10 with 80,000 it's all downhill you liar.
A set of heavy duty airbags would probably make your towing experience way more enjoyable.
I always laugh when people refer to their short bed as a "standard bed'. Nice truck! I just got a '24 and agree with most of your thoughts.
Yikes. Hopefully that isn't a larger issue that starts popping up. Still sucks for you though.
I have a ram but I gotta say that truck looks sweet!
Thanks for the review. You can get a Transfer Flow extended in-bed fuel tank to extend the range. I think they're about to release a 58 gal version.
I've thought about that. But I currently have the fifth wheel hitch and tools in the bed. So I hate to take even more bed space up.
The TransferFlow tank replaces the OEM tank. Sits in the same footprint…just hangs a bit lower.
This is awesome and genuine. I drive an older 6.2L with a bumper pull right now. Congrats on retirement! I hope to be right there in 12 years 🙃
Unfortunately I’m not at retirement yet. But the truck has to last me until then. I’ve got about 8 years til I call it wrap on a career. Will still have to work but just not at the level I am now.
I got a 90 with a 7.5L ….the 7.3 still a lilttle brother!! …..with that said I want want one still!!
Glad I'm not the only one that can't justify the cost. The diesels are cool as hell but that price tag is just nuts.
Traded in a 19 Ram with Cummins. It was a dually. got a 24 with the 7.3. No regrets. I tow a 40 ft 5th wheel camper 13k
Yeah we still love ours. I’ve said I’d go up to 15k towing with this truck if we were just moving around within a few state radius most of the time. Never towed out west though so would have to debate that.
Do you think 18.5 would be to much with 4:30 gear option
@@SliderFury1cool, I ordered the ford one through the shop I work at. Got it for 75 bucks. I used my points for the sun shade and all 4 mud flaps.
Thank you very much for this HONEST feedback and content!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for the short person review. I also suffer!
the F-350 automatically comes with a 3:73 axle. I think 4:30 is an option. I’m 100% good with the 3:73.
Yeah, that's why I forget to mention it. I just kept with stock and didn't do the lower geared setup.
Try restarting your phone when you have troubles sometimes that fixes mine
Yeah it's a tough decision. I just decided the diesel was a luxury but not a need for what I do. And I couldn't justify the cost of that luxury.
Thanks for the feedback. It's always nice to have more evidence that I'm not completely crazy. I'll definitely look into the Amsoil stuff. 🙏
@@JustSimplifying Oil and Lubricants ----------> Check Out Schaeffer's - St Louis since 1839. Schaeffer's Oil has some proprietary ingredients that reduce soot build up around the valves and on top of the pistons. In addition...and this is a big one...I highly recommend using BG Products and Services AND / OR Wynn's Products and Services.
Best I could get out of my diesels was 18mpg in these driving conditions.
First Time Viewer...Great Video! Your comments, statements and explanations pro and con are excellent!
I have owned several diesel trucks in the past used to tow gooseneck trailers - horse trailer, stock combo trailer, flatbed trailer. Decided to go with a gas truck after the introduction of the Ford 7.3L godzilla. However, I waited until the third year and purchased a 2022 Ford F350 Lariat 7.3L 4WD Tremor.I live in the Rocky Mountains and I have only owned SRW trucks because DRW trucks are absolutely worthless in mud and snow. Virtually all of the ranchers mostly have SRW trucks with a few DRW trucks for highway towing. Some guys tow some very heavy loads with SRW trucks with added air bags and helper springs. I like the exterior aesthetics of the 2017 - 2022 Super Dutys the best. However, I do like the interior of the 2023+ trucks with the exception of the digital gauges. Some Additional Comments pertaining to your video --------->
1. @4:56 - LED Roof / Cab Clearance Lights - Some guys don't like 'em, but I think these lights look great on the SRW trucks! At dawn, night or dusk...people know it is not an F150 approaching...but a truck that can do "truck things"! The first accessory item I added to my SRW truck was the Ford Marker Lamp Assembly - Part Number HC3Z-13A613-C. Like the Roof / cab Clearance lights, this marker light is DOT required on DRW trucks...but the Rear Marker Lamp Assembly looks great on a Ford SRW truck, especially if the truck is equipped with the LED Roof / Cab Clearance Lights. The combination of these lights looks cool on an SRW truck.

2. @ 6:42 - The 2022 Ford trucks have the large 12" infotainment screen. The 2017 - 2021 Ford trucks have the small 8" infotainment screen.
3. @ 6:50 - For several reasons, the Ford Super Duty is a way better choice than a Chevrolet or GMC Heavy Duty. Ford's design and engineering for a TRUCK is far superior! Ford has much better drivetrain, Approach Angle, Breakover Angle, Departure Angle. Furthermore, the aftermarket has a plethora of high-quality suspension accessories and options for Ford trucks that are not available for GM 4WD trucks, mainly because of the design that utilizes IFS axle and low hanging frame rails.
4. @ 7:10 - Absolutely Correct - "Ford just nailed it with this layout!" Without a doubt, Ford has the BEST interior ergonomics on trucks! The "comfort level"...console and doors...exactly correct. In addition, the heat and A/C vents are in ideal locations. All of the knobs and buttons are well thought out and placed. GM has their 2H, 4H and 4L knob on the left...not ideal.
Transfer flow makes a 58 gal. Replacement fuel tank. Good review. What’s your rear end ratio.
3.73 with the electronic locker. Somehow I miss an important spec in each video I do!
That's about $300.00 fill up at Kalifornia gas prices!!!!😂😂😂
I have a 2019 F150 V6 and I get better gas mileage pulling a 29 foot camper, which is around 10 MPG
The other option for the no audio CarPlay issue is to toggle the WiFi on and off on the phone.
I'll give that a try too next time.
12:26 maybe get the 8 feet fuel tank, as it's a 35-gallon one, and try to fit it into this one
Didn’t realize you was full timers, that makes a little more since
Yup. Sold our house last summer. Will be building in Kentucky over the next few years. So I will be pulling some skid steers, mini excavators, and dump trailers with it. But that will just be from rental company to the property.
@@JustSimplifying Great Comment.......Completely Agree!
Very nice truck….might I suggest a bug shield for your hood. I learned the hard way it’s worth it. I found a good one for $120. Easy install
I don't recommend doing the latest update, I'm a ford tech and we're seeing big problems after the update.
Well crap! Thanks for the heads up.
What gearing did you get in the axles??? I love the video, but they never say what gears they ordered in the axles. Axle gearing greatly affects fuel mileage and towing.
Yeah I missed that when I was going through stuff. I have the 3.73s.
Look into S&B Fuel tank
Transfer flow make bigger gas tanks. What gear ratio you got ?
I just kept the stock configuration for the FX4 package. So 3.73 with electronic locker.
Very thorough
@@JustSimplifyingare the roads bad down there or is it bad bc of the congestion? I’ve never been to Florida.
10 k miles is my average every 2 months maybe 3 hopefully of it get one it will last
What do you get on mpg when driving empty? or just minor loads up to 1500 lbs?

The 7.3s are starting to blow up. Lifter issues.
When towing the TT on flat interstate, does the 7.3 Rev high cruising?
My 1998 F150 xl ext cab did 5k of gravel in its 8ft bed & when my dad had it for construction work it did much more then that, it was a 4.6 triton lol
lol is right. A 98 F150 would have a max payload of less than 2k. So if you regularly put more than 5k in it, kudos to you.
@@JustSimplifying it sat on a lift for 2 months getting the rearend rebuilt it had bad bearings and they were on backorder plus it had a computer glitch a blown power steering hose and the muffler needed replaced cause it fell apart this is all under 5k mile by the way i com plained to ford and got a b2b extended warranty till 75k miles and they were supposed to make a payment too but they never did they said the check must have got lost in the mail then gave me the run around and gave me some phone number to a credit card company wanting my credit card number and i hung up. its been the worst customer experience of my life i should have lemon lawed it back then but didnt if i have anymore problems im selling it and im buying another brand and this is coming from a guy thats never owned anythimg but ford theyve really let me down
@@windzer Well that sucks.
@@JustSimplifying just hope u have better luck with your truck than i did with mine
Awesome choice ❤
Stock exhaust correct?
Yup. Down the road I want to put one of the exhaust systems from Stainless Works on it.
Power running boards?
No. I prefer the fixed. I believe they come with the Lariat Ultimate package unless you get the Sport Package as well. The Sport Package over rides it to the fixed. I specifically asked the dealer about that because I was going to have them delete the power running boards if I needed to.
Is the 350 smooth or choppy ride
I wouldn't call it smooth. But it's not bad. Not as smooth as an F150 but still not bad.
Just a few years ago you could get a diesel truck loaded for $70k. this sucks man.
Yes it does! I was looking at trucks six or seven years ago and mapping out how much I needed to save up. Figured at the time I'd get a truck in three years or so. Boy was I wrong.
My 2022 also has the large screen.
Yeah I was wrong on that part. The new interior was 2022. The new exterior was 2023. Ford’s “all new truck” advertising got me mixed up.
8ft box will give bigger gas tank
2022 has a 12 inch screen. Same size as the 2023.
Sorry, I said that wrong. Interior was updated in 22 and then the exterior in 23.
Twenty twenty one f three fifty dually 5704 lbs.
i think you both are right about everything were just going to copy you guys
Copy away! The truck is awesome.
yea nope they can keep it ill buy a wreck first just crazy prices and to much stuff on them may be a ulta base unit so i can install a radio my self like a 400 android top self unit
Dually cab and chassis is literally half price new. Tows 17k hauls 7k
That would be fine if all I wanted to do was tow. But this is also our family vehicle so we are happy with what we got.
You must have a 430 gear. If you got the 370 gears you gas mileage would be better
Not 4.30s. I have the 3.73s. But I just drive, I don't worry about MPG much. Just sharing for those that want to know.
This is just a look at what I got .
If you can swing it and you tow an RV get the diesel, it’s night and day better.
I'm sure it is. But we really need to put all of our money into developing our property first. So my diesel dreams will have to wait a while.
I would stay away from the 6.7

Hate to tell you but that truck won’t last until you retire. It’s a Ford! I had one and it was in and out of the shop. Each time costing anywhere from one to eight thousand dollars. After 150,000 miles I had enough.
I hope you are wrong. I also hope to retire before this truck has 100,000 miles on it. And it sucks you had so many issues with your truck, but you can find owners of any brand that had similar experiences. It's a crap shoot unfortunately.
I’m at 310k on 6.2 250 my last truck before I sold it had 260k I think you’ll be alright.
Furthermore, two to three years ago, GM had issues and problems with lifters delaminating on the 6.2L gas engine.
digital gauges lok cheap to me not a fan
Put a supercharger on it and get 700 herspers
Probably won't go that far. But next year hope to get Stainless Works exhaust system, an air intake, and some mud terrain tires on it.
You’re slacking on your driving! I have 26000 miles on my f250 7.3 Godzilla.
Apparently I am!! Fortunately I have a company car for a lot of our miles, but even adding those in I am way under 26,000!
Ten thousand pound fifth wheel.
@@JustSimplifying
There are many advantages to a pure analog gauge over digital or even hybrid gauges as Ford has done with the bar graphs with digital numbers in the middle!
Nice review...
