It is amazing at the price increase in the last few years. This truck was about $47k in 2021 as my XLT was $54k though with the 6.2l V8. Love my F250 and hope to keep it for a long, long time.

This truck is actually a couple thousand MORE than a base XLT 7.3L in the same config. The amount of stuff the 23+ STXs adds is a lot more than the previous STX package. Funny enough in order to get a similar looking truck in XLT (Sport Appearance) it's gonna be $10k more than an STX. I shopped XLTs and STXs and ended up with the STX because it felt smoother than the 7.3L XLT and had pretty much every possible option I and my wife wanted. The 6.8L accelerates just as quick as the 7.3L it seems although it felt like there was noticably more torque (possibly because the transmission shifted a bit harder).

The STX is still just an XL work truck with better wheels, different headlights and painted bumpers. I don't see the value anymore. You can get an XLT for the same money. And I am over the black wheels which come on the STX these days.. I had to switch back to chrome on my old F250... the black wheels used to be unique now they are factory and every other truck on the road has them.

The wife didn't like any trucks without the sport appearance features. After driving them both I felt like the 6.8L felt just as quick and the lighter-duty transmission was actually noticeably smoother. We're not maxing out the towing ever so it's been a great choice, so far. For the '24 model years there's actually a ton of XLT Sports on the lots here in AZ but they're $10k more than what I paid and $6k-8k more than the '24 STX models.

The 7.3L felt more torquey but the 6.8L felt just as quick to 60mph. The STX sticker was actually a couple thousand more than the STX I bought (but I got about $4k off of sticker in negotiation). I would have taken the XLT but the wife liked the paint match bumpers and black accents and wouldn't budge. So I was stuck with taking the STX or paying ~$10k more for an XLT w/ Sport Appearance package because of the other required packages. I have this truck in a 23 model. Same options. The thing to consider with the 6.8 is that they pair it with a smaller transmission than the 7.3. The 7.3 gets the same transmission as the diesel but the 6.8 shares a transmission with an f150. I've towed up to 11500 with mine no issues yet but I've only got 27k miles on it. Overall I do really like the truck and the way it looks. If doing any serious off roading I would try and find a way to cover the trans cooler. Had a pretty serious ding put in mine while going down a service road.

E 85 actually makes less power than 87 octane gasoline. Quite a bit less. That is why it costs less per gallon. You need more e85 to do the same thing as 87. But being able to burn ethanol means that there is some hardening of the fuel system which should make it last longer.

ACTUALLY the F-250 is CHEAPER than the same trim levels in the F-150. Looking at the Ford configurator right now. Both crewcabs, 6.5 bed in f150 and the 6 3/4 in the F250:
      XL: F150= 49,600 F250=48,760
XLT: F150= 56,030 F250= 55,510(with the 7.3 so it drops even more with the 6.8)
      Lariat: F150= 66,000 F250=64,740
Now on the trims above these the F250 is more but since we are talking cost I would think we are not discussing the higher end trims, I know I don't even look at them as they are NOT a value IMO. So, not only is this truck MORE CAPABLE, if you don't get option happy at build time it's CHEAPER than those cute little f150's.

I ordered at 2021 Chevy 3500 Duramax W/T crew cab with every option I could get it came to $59600. Then the dealer called me and GM gave me
Employee Pricing and it knocked off $7000. So I got the truck for $52,600. I took the $7000 and put a 4” Cognito lift and 325/50R20’s with 20x10 Fuel Rebal 8’s.
It has power everything steering wheel controls rear cameras. I don’t need heated everything and adaptive cruise and heads up display.
So guys if you do your homework and go order your truck and make every selection you can get a one ton for half ton price.

similar to a custom trim from Chevy which are 55-58k....paid 68k for 23 Silverado 2500 High country last year
you can get deals on trucks it just takes more work and some negotiating skills from the buyer....for a WT this would be all you need, am sure you can get a similar MSRP from any manufacturer for comparable truck
if you work out of a truck bed steps are a thing of beauty!......couldnt understand not wanting them

Great review guys! I just bought this truck! Question, I’m gonna be changing out the tires to BFG All -Terrain KO2’s. I’m wanting a bigger and taller look. My wheels are 20inch,the tires on it are 275/65/r20. What size would y’all recommend for the look I’m going for? Not towing or hauling heavy loads. Just a working ranch truck. Let me know your thoughts? God bless!

Dude a few years ago if you waited for the right time of year you'd get a f250 or f350 4by4 for 36,000 EASY. Never did they sell for sticker, they aren't worth sticker. With these trucks and SUV's now they are hit and miss with quality and they know it and they are profittingbfromnmaking junk just like Chrysler Jeep has always done. They aren't car companies anymore, they are parts companies.

I’ve said the last generation GM HD trucks are way overdone, there isn’t a square inch of those ugly things that don’t have something going on, Ford adding the side step took Ford one, wait, that’s four actual steps closer to the ugly GMs. It sure would be nice to find a less in your face step.

I like the XL trim but what I don't like , there are no motor options if you get the Off Road Package and you also cannot get the STX trim with the Off Road package. I do like I can get the 8ft. bed with large fuel tank and over 4k pound payload. You also can't the 4.30 axel with the short bed either only with 8ft. But for 60k a bargain in today's market. I also like the fact you can get the 2000w generator with XL package..
Me personally , I also love the key start , column shift and fold down front seat.

$60,000 for a stripped down truck is not a value! Everyone has been Hoodwinked into believing $1000 a month payment is normal! It's B.S. and I will never buy a new truck at that price, I bought a 2012 Crew Cab Z71 LT with a 6.2L Flex Fuel for $32,000 with electric seats and Onstar and Wifi! And paid the same for my 2018 Crew Cab 5.3L LT with the same set up! There is no reason the same truck I bought in 2018 is now twice as much in price.

I understand the cast iron love but why did Ford develop a new V8 (405HP/445LB) when the 5.0 has been proven, is extremely reliable, and in the F150 puts out 400HP and 410LB of Torque? The 5.0 can easily be tuned by Ford to match the exact same numbers as the new 6.8 and as great as the new engine may be, I just don't see why the 5.0 couldn't fill that gap.
