The Explorer I felt started suffering heat soak (?) as it started struggling to reel in the BMW in the later runs.. The biggest thing I noticed is on the roll race between the 392 and Explorer. When both guys kicked down, to me it looked like the Durango took a moment to actually drop gears (oldest platform and oldest transmission here), allowing the Ford to move out. Once moving the Durango was definitely quicker but he didn't have time to come past. Would love to see a roll with the Explorer and 392 with both cars in manual, I'm pretty certain the 392 would win by at least a car or 2. But that Ford punches hard for what it is, very impressive.

I own a 2021 ST and I absolutely love it. For the price of a 392 durango I have bought and built my ST to make just over 550WHP and it still gets over 22MPG in eco mode. The explorer would have faired better in the drag race if you brake boosted at the line. The durango makes full power right away where the explorer has turbo lag. If it wasn't so wet and launched in boost they get off the line quite well.
How much did it cost you to build a Ford ST to get 550 HP? I'm asking because soon I would like to buy such a Ford and bring it to Poland. I believe that it is already fast in the original version, but I would like something more under the hood😅
@AudiSCv I've added a lot of parts not required to add power (wheels & tires, louder blow off valve, lowering springs, etc.) but if I just add the power adding mods I have: Whipple intercooler ($1100) E50 tune by ZFG Racing ($600 tune and HP Tuners device/credits) FenFab Cold Air Intake ($1100) FenFab Charge Pipe and BOV ($500) FenFab Catted Downpipes ($1000) Thermal R&D 3" Catback ($1800) Total roughly $6000 in power adding mods but you'll also want to do some suspension mods at that power level as well such as a rear diff brace, toe arms, vertical links, and rear subframe bushing lockouts. Also a catch can was the first thing I put on and it has proven to do a lot. I went with the JLT for under $200. My fuel system is the bottleneck right now but there's a supplemental port injection system in the works that will solve that issue.
@@BlackSheepRacing88 I thought it would cost more. $6,000 is not that bad just for increasing the power, but I would probably have to import all these parts from the USA because I certainly won't be able to get them in Poland. well, I'll have to think about something once I buy my ST
@AudiSCv The majority of power gains before replacing fuel system components and turbos are going to come from ethanol and a tune. The intercooler isn't going to add power but these engines heat soak pretty easy after a couple back to back pulls with how small the stock one is. Just E50 and a solid tune will get you to 500HP alone.
The Durango is roughly 400-500 pounds heavier. That makes a HUGE difference pun intended. All that weight negates some of the extra horsepower, especially from a roll.
yea 2 extra gears and 500 pounds lighter.. srt still walked the twin turbo st from a dig! on a roll its a lil different due to weight and 2 extra gears.. but even then it was door to door and the hemi was pulling after that. id love to see a tuned explorer st vs a hellcat durango sam! can you make that happen? :) love the new light!
Canada has a good number of fast STs that could compete if not beat the DDHC, might be harder to find the Durango Hellcat but that would be an awesome video.
9-10th gears on ford/GM’s 10 speed are overdrive gears. Essentially fuel economy gears. So only 1-8th would/should be being used if speed is your priority

What's the difference between the dragon SRT and the Durango hellcat
Durango SRT 392 = 475HP ... Durango Hellcat = 710HP
What's scary that cops in the US where I live drive these 400hp twin turbo Ecoboost 10 speed automatic beasts!!!

Stellantis going to those silly inline 6 engines...i thought you were a fan of the b58? That hurricane might be a similar beast!

durango: that was just my oldest son
x6: why'd you have to drag the newborn into this
That BMW B58 is criminally underrated. Im considering a used ST right now, but I bet my mom’s X5 would still be faster. 335 hp my ass haha

Early again. Your drag races are epic thanks for the content man
Appreciate it!
My dad’s thinking to buying the ST because its 400 hp with 7 seats and I said to him that’s a great choice most of my Family members say it’s a good choice
The hellcat version of the Durango is amazing it’s fast and can hold up to 6 people plus it’s actually a great tow vehicle as well and highly tunable over the SRT version.
Am i confused on whats a mid size and full size suv? Or did they just get vehicles the closest in comparison?
Actually pretty well matched! Bmw had the best launch and lowest 0-60 till the rain and in the roll the st and srt were dead on, power to weight being right there!
Durango SRT has the best 0-60 time of all 3 cars and by a significant margin. You can look up any automotive testing of the cars from car and driver and motor trend it's not hard
Just ordered a ‘25 Vapor Blue ST… can’t wait!! 🤘🏻
Ford all day long. Once I had a Ford Ecoboost 4WD I swear that was the best engine and 4WD I ever driven. I had around 200k on the dash before it gave me major issues but I want a newer model Ford ecoboost so bad.
are these stock everything?
Wild they don't drop gears before hitting the roll.
This is my second ST/ Dark Grey/Black wheels 60Kish. This is another one of those pound for pound dollar per dollar vehicles. It’s quick. To beat it your considering both vehicles are new your pretty much going to have to jump up to the 90K range SUV’s like a BMW X5m or the Track Hawk and a couple others. Of course stock vehicles off the lot. I feel like it has what I need speed wise. Now when I’m out in my C7 Z06 you suddenly realize it’s a different world.
i got 21 gt durango thanks for the video 👍
ST has an launch control, did you use it????
how can we activate the launch control on the ST?

Very refreshing to see a BMW losing a race, especially to something like an Explorer. Not everyone knows how beastly those STs are
check mine out if you really wanna see what they can do
A BASE bmw though. That's the best st explorer. Put that against the best bmw...then see what happens.
Top of the line explorer against the slowest x6. If this was a x5 50i not even the x5 m is required the explorer would get rocked.
The ST is modified, vey obvious by the exhaust noise. Also how about bringing the X5 M50i or M60i to spank that Durango!
@@AgonxOClol it was mentioned it had an exhaust for “sound” unless that ST is tuned, that simple exhaust mod isn’t going to gain much of anything. Not exactly “modified.”
Which one is the most reliable excluding the bmw right out the gates?
Nope..sorry. bmw is on par with lexus in reliability nowadays. That's why toyota uses their engines now. Get with the times.this aint 2005 anymore.
B58 is one of the most reliable engines on the market lol by some distance too.
Those rolls in the SRT need a driver mod…
its an automatic transmission 😂
@@isupportthecurrentthing5225I own a 392 Durango and not one, zero stock ST’s can hang. What drive mode it’s in and paddle shifting or holding rpms makes a ton of difference.
😂😂😂😂. Slowpars.
The explorer has a $1000 tune from ford that will leave the 392 behind for one thousand dollars cant beat that simple tune.
I've drove the explore st several times and absolutely love it
I own a 2021 ST and I absolutely love it.
@AudiSCv I've added a lot of parts not required to add power (wheels & tires, louder blow off valve, lowering springs, etc.) but if I just add the power adding mods I have:
Whipple intercooler ($1100)
E50 tune by ZFG Racing ($600 tune and HP Tuners device/credits)
FenFab Cold Air Intake ($1100)
FenFab Charge Pipe and BOV ($500)
FenFab Catted Downpipes ($1000)
Thermal R&D 3" Catback ($1800)
Total roughly $6000 in power adding mods but you'll also want to do some suspension mods at that power level as well such as a rear diff brace, toe arms, vertical links, and rear subframe bushing lockouts.
And the look of our vehicle is so special. Love my ST
SRT FTW 🙌🏼 I have an R/T and I love it!
How is the dodge that slow with that big of an engine. Like if it was the bmw x6 m50/60i it would’ve EASILY shown them who’s boss.
The Durango is roughly 400-500 pounds heavier. That makes a HUGE difference pun intended. All that weight negates some of the extra horsepower, especially from a roll.
Weight. She's porky compared to the others
It's amazing how many car enthusiasts fail to understand the importance of power to weight🤨
@@queue1176 Blame the schools
BMW m60i(m60i doesn't exist you melon) is $100k+ and has a twin turbo V8. Why are you comparing that?
You are retarded
yea 2 extra gears and 500 pounds lighter.. srt still walked the twin turbo st from a dig! on a roll its a lil different due to weight and 2 extra gears.. but even then it was door to door and the hemi was pulling after that. id love to see a tuned explorer st vs a hellcat durango sam! can you make that happen? :) love the new light!
Canada has a good number of fast STs that could compete if not beat the DDHC, might be harder to find the Durango Hellcat but that would be an awesome video.
9-10th gears on ford/GM’s 10 speed are overdrive gears. Essentially fuel economy gears. So only 1-8th would/should be being used if speed is your priority
They're all impressive for SUVs but that Durango is so much more esthetically pleasing to look at than the others. And it's a 3rd row vehicle
The Explorer also has three rows. Some seat 6 and an option for 7 is available.
True but there's absolutely no room in the 3rd row. It's sooo tight and for small children only. I have the Durango and at 6' 225lbs I could take a road trip in my 3rd row. @@Smurfwin
That was a good race, those drivers were pretty cool. I feel like the ST and the 392 should get a rematch on a dry day for the hell of it. 🔥👍🏾
Sam you have to admit that bang for the buck the ST is unbeatable, it plays suvs like that x6 40 that is worth well over 100k$
Put a call out for a tuned ST (1200$ cnd) stock air filter stock intercooler and stock exhaust and it will hang with the x6 60 guaranteed,,, youtube would put a commercial between it and the others arriving at the line…

I'm actually realllly surprised at the roll races between the 392 and the explorer. I thought for sure the explorer was going to disappear in the rearview. The fact that it won/was about even was crazy. Really impressed by that twin turbo V6 ford has. My only thing is that from experience driving an RT durango, it seems quicker when you manually shift (may not be the case but it FEELS that way), maybe the SRT is the same?
Look at the Durango shaking at high speeds lol
That's the license plate on the dashboard ya dummy. Nobody would buy those cars if they actually did that lol ppl who own those 392 Durangos push 100 on the highway farrr too much. It's an old quiet interior

It’s extremely stable at high speeds you don’t know what you’re talking about.
We just bought our second ST yesterday. I’ve had a bunch of Mustangs Corvettes and other cars but honestly, the ST is such a great platform. With only a tune it will put that 392 to shame. Also, the 392 doesn’t have much room for improvement, there is a bunch of guys running 10 second quarter-mile times with the ST
And the 392 is a V8 where as the Ford has a V6. Not much bragging room for the 392.
so you bring the highest hp models from ford, and dodge, but no X6M? that makes sense!
yeah cause they know the x6m would've destroyed the other two american shitboxes ahahaah
incorrect, dodge has the Durango hellcat which would put up hell of a fight against a x6m :)

I think the X3 M40i or the LCI X6 would of been better match because they make more HP.
X3 is too small. Not a apples for apples comparison
You could throw a x5 m60i out there but it would just whip on those 2 suv.
If comparing HP this X6 was way underpowered. The x3 m40i puts out "382" HP while the 2024 X5 and X6 puts out 375 which would of been a more apple to apple comparison. I would love to see the new facelifted X6 40i drag race the pre LCI and see how much of a difference it makes
