Great Job! The pauses are needed. I can speak for a lot of us here - We fully understand. I really appreciate you going back 10 seconds to rebuild the broken flow from the pauses. I actually hate when reactors will pause and just restart from where they paused. By going back 10 seconds, you are showing us all how much you appreciate what you are hearing. I personally love seeing the younger generation discovering and enjoying the music I grew up with. The late 60's and early 70's were filled with experimental bands all wanting to create their own sound. Sadly, much of this has been lost and buried into obscurity over time, but some of the more popular bands from back then are still known today. Fortunately, Led Zeppelin carried over. It was not only one of the more popular bands still known today, it was also one of the best. Keep on Rockin' !
A violin bow during this very trippy, hallucinogenic musical interlude. Yes, this is why I can feel you on why you'd benefit from the visual of the live performance. @@sheiladrucker6872 although they notoriously "borrowed" heavily from elsewhere and took songwriting credit for material they did not actually write. John Bonham killing it on drums! Roberts Voice, ....Incredible! Jimmy playing that guitar like nobody else! John Paul Jones on keyboards! 💥🎸💥A Masterpiece from the Masters themselves!
Page originally did this song as a member of the Yardbirds in 1967-1968. He was looking to play the guitar with a bow. Then with the formation of Led Zeppelin he had with him, a band that could pull it off. It made it onto the debut album in 1969

"This sounds familiar" - I believe all the great songs sound familiar because they resonate with our souls. Think about every time you thought a song sounded familiar and later you realized that no other song sounded like it. I believe in my heart that some melodies, although they are totally new, resonate in our hearts and that makes them truly great. We feel like we know them already. They sound familiar. But they aren't, it's a new sound, a new melody, a new chord progression, but it's so perfect, it "resonates". We feel like we already know it because it EXISTS IN OUR SOUL ALREADY.
50 years later and I still get goosebumps too. Plus a little teary eyed. such greatness unmatched today. Their first 4 albums are basically "greatest hits" all by themselves.
"...with these headphones, you hear everything!" Now you know what most teens were doing late at night with the big 70s cans on their heads studying the stereo imaging and, in the case of this song, all of the panning left to right. It was a religious experience.
Imagine being 13 and having grown up listening to motown and stax artists with a little bit of soft rock thrown in on an AM transistor radio. Then one day your friend invites you over and he has an actual stereo and puts this on. I have never been the same.

It sounds like you're only listening to the right or left side. Led Zeppelin loved to use "quadraphonic sound" If you sit in a room and have four identical speakers surrounding you and they are plugged up left front right front left rear right rear you can hear the music spinning around you- especially in Whole Lotta Love. You got to try it out dude.
@@squishybuffalo had a friend with that system way back when. Suspended his speakers off the floor in macrame hangers. Absolutely no distortion. For these guys and ELP'S Tarkus. Wow!
"That" sound is really something special. That's the sound of Jimmy Page (lead guitar) playing an electric guitar with a violin bow! Specifically, a Fender Telecaster. It's also said that he nailed it in one take. Some folks might light you up for pausing, but you've got to do what you've got to do. The way YT is now, you don't have much choice. It's far better than editing the song and I've seen a few folks try that too. I'd rather rehear 10 seconds of music than miss any amount.
@SRT 8 Rocketship Oh sure. When I've seen recordings of their live shows, I think I've only seen the LP. On the album, "they" say it's a Tele. (I'm sure you know "they". "They" apparently has all the answers.) As far as the bow, I honestly couldn't tell the difference. I assume a cello bow is longer, but I've never payed any attention. I now wonder if there was some reason he went with a cello bow instead of one for a fiddle...
Jamal: “How does he make that sound???” It’s a question I asked myself when I first heard this album. Led Zep’s guitarist, Jimmy Page, achieves the sound by playing the guitar with a violin bow, and of course all kinds of studio compression/distortion effects. Someone on this thread who knows their way around a recording studio could elaborate better on this. I personally love the pausing because that leaves room for your reaction & commentary, which is what makes these videos so much fun!
Jimmy Page played a 1959 Fender Telecaster on Led Zeppelin I. The Dragon Telecaster. He got his famous 1959 Gibson Les Paul from Joe Walsh soon after. The original Dragon Telecaster does not exist anymore but Jimmy Page collaborated with Fender this past year to make a reissue Dragon Telecaster just like his original was setup. They are affordable too. Less than $1,500 for your very own.
You'll love the live version of D&C from MSG. If you've never seen a guitarist using a violin bow on stage...... Leave the pausing to the vocal coaches. I just enjoy watching you discover and being blown away by these guys. Keep up the great work.

I'm pretty old and I grew up in the 60s and 70s. to me, there are but THREE BANDS. that top all others. #1 the Beatles. (a genre all of their own) #2. Led Zeppelin (best hard rock/heavy metal ever ever ever) #3. Pink Floyd ( a genre all their own) There are tons of other great bands of course, but to me, these are the three:) The three that can't be topped.
@M 40 There is no wormhole that they have not penetrated. Even the Gould's from every planet listen to their songs and smile.
@M 40 It sounds as though I have found someone else that has both excellent musical taste and an appreciation for one of the great scientific television shows produced in our era. No, it wasn't a mistake. I didn't say "Sci Fi" for a reason. Too much truth to be fiction.
Magnificent!!I loved your joy and respect!!!🎸🥁🎸
You're reactions are making my world better ❤️😄 Love from Sweden
Goosebumps come with the territory when you first hear this song, it shows how much it has moved you, 47 years later it makes me cry with joy.
I actually LOVE the pauses!! Taking a second to realize how intense these songs are for a second just makes you appreciate it even more!!
A violin bow during this very trippy, hallucinogenic musical interlude. Yes, this is why I can feel you on why you'd benefit from the visual of the live performance. Btw, I find it so absolutely cool that you love exploring, respecting and dignifying all kinds of musical sounds that are new to your ears.
Jimmy was extremely talented and Plant writing and playing their music.
@@sheiladrucker6872 although they notoriously "borrowed" heavily from elsewhere and took songwriting credit for material they did not actually write. Their live performances were not up to the standard that they delivered on studio albums. Apart from that they do have many redeeming qualities to what they contributed to the musical spectrum. What I really enjoy is seeing someone who's always exploring and impressed by different styles and areas of music history.
Goosebumps. Welcome to the club brother! I don't mind pausing. I know every note and beat by heart. I enjoy watching you enjoy 🎸 Thanks!
From a time when drummers were more than just metronomes.😉
Wow what a clever comment
Slayer does in fact, rock.
Bonham had some of the heaviest sticks ever. He kills it!
10 seconds back every time something cool happens in this song..... three years later, finally hears whole song.
It made it onto the debut album in 1969
Led Lep introduced me to the blues over 40 years ago. Still listening and loving
Enjoy man. I’ve been making the same facial expressions and getting goosebumps to this for 50 years. The pauses are ok, but please go back and listen to it again for yourself!! New subscriber.
🤣👍🏾 Thanks🙏🏾
Me also!!!
Yes me too
Yep!
Yeah, me too.
I have always thought this is the most "sinister" sounding song I have ever heard. Love it!
Yes!; only one close 2nd: "Bridge of Sighs" by Robin Trower
Led Zep's first album - one of the best of all time - they were game changers when this came out.
50 years later and I still get goosebumps too. Plus a little teary eyed. such greatness unmatched today.
Their first 4 albums are basically "greatest hits" all by themselves.
Same hear brother Zeppelin is the ultimate love them
Pause away bro we all know the song
And to think, that was off of their first album!
And that's why Rick Beato chose it as the best debut album of all time.
Bro this was off their first album
It's so amazing to watch you experience this song for the first time. This band was life changing for me. So awesome!
"...with these headphones, you hear everything!" Now you know what most teens were doing late at night with the big 70s cans on their heads studying the stereo imaging and, in the case of this song, all of the panning left to right. It was a religious experience.
The drums are my favorite part of this song. Bonham does a masterful job here behind the kit.
Loving your reactions to a band that’s been a part of my life since I was a kid! Rock on dude!!!!
Love the “Stank Face” too. Lol
I don't mind the pauses. I am loving this reaction!!!
Thanks
@@jamelakajamal Keep on keepin' on!!!
Agreed, if the pausing is the happy medium it's fine
You can listen to this in its entirety whenever you want now!
Imagine if you will being 16 years old when you first heard this !!!
I was and it was great, the first four Zep albums were the best. Although I did like Houses of the holy a lot
@@Bob_In_Thailand I was 14-my big brother introduced me to Zep. Now I'm sure he's up there rocking away with Bonham!
Even better. Im 14 right now and im fucking loving led zeppelin, black sabbath, system of a down, and guns and roses.
I think I was 14 or 15. All Zeps music blew me away!! Mind blowing.
Imagine being 13 and having grown up listening to motown and stax artists with a little bit of soft rock thrown in on an AM transistor radio. Then one day your friend invites you over and he has an actual stereo and puts this on. I have never been the same.
Really glad to see you enjoyed it as much as I do. This song has never gotten old. Pause away my friend!
We understand you’ve gotta pause brother. Don’t forget most of us well and truly know these songs anyway, we are watching to enjoy your reaction :) ✌️🤘
It has been so long since I first heard this music, watching his reaction brings back those memories and brings so much back to this music. Thank you sir.
No problems with the pause...I get it. Love seeing someone experiencing this great song. Best band that ever was or will be.
EVER!!!
Greta van fleet is a modern version
@Leon Anderson I would agree with you if the beatles didn't SUCK!
Can there not be more than 1 fucking awesome band. , Led Zeppelin and the Beatles very different both brilliant!
LED ZEPPELIN IS THE GREATEST BAND EVER! I LOVE WATCHING YOUR REACTIONS! 🤘🤘🤘
GODS
EVER!!!!
That’s how you do a Led Zeppelin reaction video! 💯
I love watching your reactions and don’t care about the pauses because, you’re feeling the way everyone has after hearing this incredible music!
This song was in the movie Friday. Craig has it playing when Smokey climbs through his window.
Also in an episode of Californication, I believe in season 2 when Hank dreams of being at a bar in hell
No way I have to go back and check now!! I’ve seen that movie 1000 times and never noticed
This song is so filthy, I feel like I need to go to confession after hearing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the greatest nights of my life was when Robert Plant opened up the show for The Who in Chicago. Robert Plant and Roger Daltrey on the same bill!!!! BLISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish I could have been there!!🤩 Just saw The Who on their Moving On tour. Roger said, "Our youth is gone, our glamour is gone..." I disagree. Roger and Pete can still bring it
Haha... we all need a good clean after listening to this.
You lucky, lucky bastard!!!! 👌
Yer right. Its filthy. Like squeezing lemons till the juice runs down yer leg.
Bostonwhofan. Filthy is the best way to describe IT. Whenever I listen to Dazed my face is contorted like I am smelling rotten fish. JUST AMAZING
And THAT CONCERT LINE UP WAS FU%^*KIG FIRE. WHEW. IM JEALOUS!!!😊
Love your pauses and reactions. Helps me listen more closely and renews my appreciation for Zep! Please do “Whole Lotta Love” and “Heartbreaker/Livin’ Lovin’ Maid” from Led Zeppelin II
Zeppelin's songs have been sampled by companies for decades. Best Rock band ever.
My favorite Led Zeppelin song! Awesome! Great job Jamel. P.S. you can pause greatness all you need to. And that sound was a violin bow pulled across the electric guitar strings.
I don't mind the pauses. Stumbled on this today, had a blast watching.
You and I could have definitely hung out back in the day. Find "The Lemon Song".
You mentioned "trippy". Imagine sitting at the concert and tripping, watching this masterpiece.
I always thought this was acid rock
I saw them in California in 1973 . They played this song for over 23 minutes . I went home half deaf , with a bad sunburn , lol !
Yeah, I got goosebumps too. That's how amazing this band was
Do not be ashamed. They were ICONIC.
So far haven't seen you do a reaction to "Kashmir".... [Led Zep, of course] Page uses a cello bow on his Les Paul on that cut, too.....
akashicvizion - page does not use a bow on Kashmir. He does use it on How Many More Times and the opening to In The Evening.
The Dread Zeppelin cover of Kashmir is awesome
Please do Kashmir!!! My cat Kashmir rest his soul had the heart of Led Zeppelin
@@stephaniemiksell419 That's odd-- *my* cat's name is Kashmir, too!! He's a Himalayan/Manx mix with crystal blue eyes!!
NO problem with the Pauses I have heard it a million times!! I love to watch you discover these songs and your reaction is making me like them again!! So thank you for doing these classic songs I grew up with.
“This is a lot to take in guys!” 😆 love you Jamel
Jamal you are doing a reaction. I am ok with you pausing the video and making your comments, after all it is a reaction video. I do enjoy your comments and the fact you appreciate all these performers. Way to go brother, keep it up!!!
Still have the sound system! It sounds amazing!
Wait what
Gotta try this
@@squishybuffalo had a friend with that system way back when. Suspended his speakers off the floor in macrame hangers. Absolutely no distortion. For these guys and ELP'S Tarkus. Wow!
Linn LP12, Naim nait and a couple of Kanns also managed 3D sound. Blown away!
The live version is about 30 minutes.
"They" apparently has all the answers.)
As far as the bow, I honestly couldn't tell the difference. I assume a cello bow is longer, but I've never payed any attention. I now wonder if there was some reason he went with a cello bow instead of one for a fiddle...
@SRT 8 Rocketship I have not, but I'll write it down and check it out. Thank you! Have a great day!
just promise us you'll listen again all the way thru by yourself so you can enjoy it.
Already did it’s on my work playlist 👍🏾
Jawohl
Will blow your mind even more when u realize the guitar and the vocalist are doing the same vibrato and keys... craziness. This band is simply amazing
Pause all you want. Its an honor to watch you and Led Zeplin.
Peace🎶🎵💕🌎✨️
I lost it when you stopped the song to wonder aloud, "What in the hell is that?" (about the bowed guitars) 🤣 A beautifully honest moment.
Also my man..... You NEED to watch The Song Remains The Same film...... In your own time. That's one of the greatest things I've ever watched
In high school, I used to go see it at the midnight shows...amazing!
And take some shrooms or smoke some chronic
Jamal: “How does he make that sound???” It’s a question I asked myself when I first heard this album. Led Zep’s guitarist, Jimmy Page, achieves the sound by playing the guitar with a violin bow, and of course all kinds of studio compression/distortion effects. Someone on this thread who knows their way around a recording studio could elaborate better on this. I personally love the pausing because that leaves room for your reaction & commentary, which is what makes these videos so much fun!
Love the reaction , makes me appreciate Led Zeppelin all over again.
There's alot of greats on this planet and led zeppelin is one of the greats
Bro there is a girl that does reactions and pauses every 1 1/2 minutes with Led Zeppelin and they are never taken down!
that sound you are trying to understand is Jimmy Page using a bow from a cello on the strings of his Les Paul guitar, pure innovation
I came to say the same thing, you're fast!
Is that true? I heard a rumor that the guitar part appeared overnight all by itself - some say it was Satan?!?
@@bishlap what!? No its a cello bow he used it in the yardbirds also
@@noname.___ the YARD-WHAT? Satan didn't play in the yardbirds, that was jeff bexley - his brother, Don played Bubba on Sanford and Son tv show.
Jimmy page with that telecaster was just magic.
joeboo629 yessir this wasn’t the les Paul.
You'll love the live version of D&C from MSG. If you've never seen a guitarist using a violin bow on stage...... Leave the pausing to the vocal coaches. I just enjoy watching you discover and being blown away by these guys. Keep up the great work.
Led Zeppelin was my first concert ever in the summer of 1971. I was 15.😊
