Well after trying to over a year, I've finally made some half decent progress hacking P.T. and I'm excited to show just the first few little discoveries and new details I was able to get a look at. Even managed to find some cut content in there, which is a small treat. Always happy to have some Silent Hill (or Silent Hills I guess?) on the channel, so I hope you enjoy! And as you can probably guess from the end of this video, there's a whole lot left to show.

Man, even when you're tearing the game apart and we're looking at it for analysis it's still creepy af. Such a shame it never got to become the full-fledged game it was meant to be.
That, based on elements of pt and interviews, was silent Hill 4 2.0....
TheGrateDebate's video "P.T.'s Hidden Meaning" reveals that P.T. being a teaser for Silent Hills was likely scrapped before any of this was made. Kojima knew the project would be cancelled and himself terminated and used P.T. as a way of saying fuck you to Konami. I highly reccomend you watch the aforementioned video.

Well, you'd think other wise as a fake game for advertisement is wrongly and humorously considered the best-est horror game ever...now i cannot even search for actual real horror games without an ignorant dork that never played games telling me that pt was better than anything else when it's literally the haunting gameplay in sh4 linear without the rest of the game...

Wait what? Junji Ito was involved as well? Don''t remember having heard of it before.
@@AikenFrost He knew Kojima for about 20 years so he ended up in a meeting with Del Toro too.
But he didn't heard of them after that since the game got cancelled so there is no sketches or designs.

Something about Lisa as a static mesh just standing perfectly still while the shadows bounce off of her is significantly creepier than I ever could have imagined.
RIGHT?? The ingame atmosphere is so well built that even hacking the game is still fucking terrifying.
That's why they placed her under that swaying light.
If u follow his Twitter he did actually tweet a couple times that he needed to take a break from his hacking of this game because he wouldn't be able to sleep otherwise. This is just a short demo and it's still this powerful

Archus orez agreed. I think if Silent Hill were ever resurrected it’d be most important to keep the spirit of the original games, not necessarily the iconography. Iconography is not a friend to horror in the long run. It’s why classic movie Frankenstein or Jason aren’t scary anymore. Shit gets familiar, and the familiar isn’t scary.
Seriously only people who played it actually felt what a good horror game could be like

That reminds me, there was a 1 for 1 PT remake using the same code and all in VR, and people were using it to turn their heads around and see Norman's face, after taking a step ahead or so in real life. How did no one notice Lisa before during that? Was the trick applied to the VR's headset movement too? That wouldve required some knowledge and reworking I imagine.

This game became a lot more scary when I found out after you get the flashlight in the game Lisa always follows you and disappears when you turn around. You can see her shadow on the wall twitching behind you but nobody ever really notices unless they're really paying attention. Creepy stuff.

I don't believe she "disappears" when you turn around, I think that after you pick up the flashlight she's permanently attatched to your back, so when you turn around, she stays behind you.

To this day, I won't forgive Konami for killing Silent Hills. The PT for it was the most terrified I ever was in a horror game for years. And now we'll never get it...
maybe it's for the best that silent hills won't suffer the slow, painful death that Metal Gear Solid, Contra, Castlevania, and more are going through...

It's crazy how a video game demo of a couple minutes could put so many modern horror films in a ditch. Although if someone ever wanted to run with what P.T. did, they should do it with the Hereditary story. I think those two things compliment each other.

I still believe to this day that if this game officially released, it would have been the greatest horror game of all time. There's no way you can have Junji Ito as a visual director and not create a masterpiece. I'll never live this down.

Remember after pre-release death stranding, kojima, he want to make horror game again, and in the same month junji ito travel across america on animefest/convention do about giving his drawing presentation and promoting the new uzumaki anime adaptation for next year (january 2020). Theres a slightly chance they both meetup meeting discussing about the new game tho.

Actually in the interview He mention that He never designed anything for PT, He was just contacted by Hideo Kojima and then had a reunion with him and Guillermo Del Toro but that’s all.He didn’t heard about the project again until someone told him about the game being canceled.
Most mysteries and anomalies tend to dull down considerably after having some detailed and thorough explanations.

Still manages to fill you with dread.
That's what I love about this game. You're right. Usually an explanation lessens the impact but this game just gets worse the more you dig.
Like knowing that Lisa is always there but invisible and that we pass her over and over again is not at all better. Or when someone found that she follows you at all times but vanishes when you shine the light on her...
That's the mark of true terror.
Ok so two things:
1. Why is she wearing red shoes? And they even look clean. It's an odd contrast to her dress.
2. I got genuinely scared when she appeared behind her static self, which just goes to show how scary P.T. can be even when you think you are safe.
All in all, loving these findings, knowing that Lisa is always standing there makes it SO interesting, because it's not the Lisa that can attack you, but it's probably the one making the weird noises when you are walking around, or even the reason why the radio says "Look behind you". Who knows, so much potential for theories.

@@Spleemce wasn't Lisa Garland (from the first game) a reference to Judy Garland's role as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz? She also wore red shoes. I think the creator said that her maiden name came from the actress.
I think i read a theory somewhere that it was because Lisa Garland was transported to a different world (the dark Silent Hill world that Alessa created) like Dorothy.
Judy Garland had a very tragic life and died from a drug overdose, and Lisa G also lived an unhappy life inside the hospital and was addicted that cult drug. I think it later games it was revealed that Lisa aspired to be an actress?
Maybe PT Lisa is a reference to Judy/Lisa Garland / Dorothy, because maybe her spirit is trapped in Silent Hills? I don't know all the Silent Hill lore, but it's just fun to think about. Sorry for the long comment😂😂😂

The part where we are simply looking at the static figure honestly is unnerving as it is.

The most disturbing/horrific aspect of this is Lisa's headless corpse. Minor details like the string of hair on the shoulder; the tub more than half-full from Lisa's blood being added; and the dried blood just above the pool's surface is what makes it more understandable as to why they cut it in the first place. It's like a "see at your own risk" scenario, which adds to the chilling effect. Not to mention the lifelessness of her body just laying there rotting after the sickening torture she went through.
I personally think the reason why the headless corpse was removed in the final version of the teaser was simply because it breaks a certain consistency.
That consistency being; every other injury that Lisa sustained up to her death is still visible. Missing eye and the wound on her stomach. If she was decapitated, then it wouldn't make sense for her head to be attached. If her head reattached, then why wouldn't her eye return to it's socket and why would her stomach wound not be stitched back up? Hell, why would she look like a corpse to begin with? The idea in the first place is that her corpse is haunting the halls.
If I do remember correctly, that corpse isn't Lisa's (although it uses her model), based on the radio broadcasts? But I could certainly be wrong about that.

Agreed. There were jump scares in it, but it relied on atmosphere, dread and tension to tell the story. That's why Asian horror is my favorite; its all psychological.

One of the best horror games ever made, and I stand by that. Truly terrifying in so many ways. Like its predecesors in the Silent Hill series, it chills the player to the core, shakes them deeply, with real fears and horrifying imagery. Keep up the good work

The buildings are just fronts, there's no side or back walls to them. The area was just meant for use in the ending cutscene, not gameplay. 😔

When you are in the "maze" section you can peer into the bathroom, though you can't see anything you hear gorey noises like someone being torn apart. Could this be the father ripping off Lisa's head?

Even till now, 7 years later, the radio saying "look behind you...I said, look behind you" is the greatest under appreciated thing in horror history

Jesus, just watching this and I've got chills up my spine. How did they do this? It's so creepy somehow, some way, inexplicably.
For me a lot of the creep factor comes from the sound design. It's so good. Once you hear a sfx, like the radio crackling, lamp squeaking, or Lisa's groaning, you just know it's from this game and you think back to it. It just doesn't sound like they used generic horror movie/game sfx.
Also p.s, I also have a feeling this game would cause a sense of claustrophobia. You're always walking down a narrow hallway that only goes one way and the only room besides the basement you start in barely has any space to walk in.
@@sourpuss5951 That's a good point. The claustrophobia aspect, the feeling of being trapped is something I hadn't really thoguht about. But it surely has some effect, at least on some of us. Even the idea of walking past that bathroom door in the narrow hallway makes my skin crawl. The sound effects are stellar. Even when just looking at Lisa for a while, the eerie sounds in the background add to the chill factor.

@fuji modz' I actually did that myself. Copied pt originally to an external which broke (I was GUTTED) but yeah the proxy method allowed me to get it back.

By the way, if someone supplies to me all of the extracted models,level,textures and even the town scene shown at the end, I would love to put everything together in the unreal engine 3 and duplicate for you guys what it was going to be and fill in some of the missing pieces.I just don't have the time to go from forum to forum and ask everyone for the models due to work.
Just download the iso yourself and run the game on a modded ps3 to extract everything.

I’m actually kind of glad the game was cancelled: something so great about PT is the shortness of it, this sort of one off horror with minimal explanation. The mystery is something that I personally love about it. I actually can’t imagine a longer version. I obviously can’t possibly know what the final game would’ve been like but I imagine that it likely would’ve been very different to PT. What I’m trying to say is that if this game hadn’t been a trailer, we wouldn’t feel disappointed. In fact we’d probably feel very satisfied with the games length and just overall gameplay.

This PT was about Kojima's relationship with Konami. Konami being the father that murdered his family (In reference to Kojima being "cut out") At least that was a theory made and it seemed to make a lot of sense based on the video. Anyway, I love this game and all the intrigue and mystery that surrounds it.

Seeing what was in the hidden bathtub scene gave me the BIGGEST chill. Terrifying! Amazing how people are finding all this stuff in the game *years* later!

This came out in 2014 & I still haven't gotten over the loss of Silent Hills smh.
This makes me so sad, this game could’ve easily been one of the best horror games ever. Even the teaser had me on edge the entire time, it was so engaging and fun to play...I hope one day we get something that gives us this same vibe of horror.

-the top floor
-Lisa standing outside, viewed from outside
-lisa following you when you get the torch
-the inside of the hanging box
-the hand that appears as the bathroom door is being closed.

It's wild to think that we were promised a star studded masterpiece starring Norman Reedus finding his way past Lisa, but settled for delivering packages in a post apocalyptic freakshow, wearing a baby carrier. 10 years later and I'm still bitter.

5:50 I bet they removed this because they couldn't give a feasible reason as to why the player character's reflection wouldn't be visible in the water, as well, given that the corpse's reflection can be seen just fine. After all, they really held onto that reveal until the last second.
Nah, I think it was originally going to be revealed after the peep hole segment, when the baby is talking to you. But they wanted to keep it minimal and let the player's imagination fill in all the blanks of the horrifying audio. Like for me, I imagined she was sliced open from the gut, but this would've told the player she was sliced in the neck.
What you did for Boundary Break was awesome as hell. Hope it brings in more subscribers you deserve

Who would've thought after all this time that there was still stuff left to discover about this game. Sure this is only achieved by altering the games code, but still... Does the creepiness of P.T. ever end?
I also read that the Lisa who jumpscares you in the death animation is always right behind you. She stays on your back as you move the camera around until her flag is triggered
