Actually the prisoner monsters are there, they’re invisible. If you shoot them, James aims at them and I think, if I remember right, they spew blood and they even cry out in pain and fall over as well
"Unfortunately there are no monsters in the jail cells, it's all just ambiance noise." Um ... I think that's wrong. There are two invisible monsters in the cells making noises, and you can shoot them through the bars and kill them.

As an animation major, let me answer some questions about why stuff looks *jank* with different angles. -The purple and black textures are errors from them not being found, or read properly, so that could've been your game, the emulator, or on the devs side trying to cut corners (don't blame em!) -The reason Mary flips the fuck out after she walks up the staircase is because animators make a walk cycle using various key frames, with fluid detail in between every key frame, but what they end up doing is just looping a walk animation so it can be played over and over again. However, when you mess up the distance the feet move in a walk cycle and you stretch it for too long, the body will contort (search walk cycles video games if you're interested on that). ^This also why Pyramid head just sinks into the floor. They just keep the loop going until he is far out of camera , then despawn him. -Mary's face is stuck in that stupid pose on 13:43 is because that is her "default" face pose for when your gonna fuck around with it and possibly animate some stuff with it. They just loaded a default face because like Shesez said, no one will really see it. If you do end up reading this Shezes, I'm curious of why you didn't boundary break the cutscene were pyramid head is having his fun? There's some theories that he's trying to shove it down the drain, or mocking the sight of murder (try to make James feel guilty) Other than that amazing content! Please do this for MGS3 Snake eater! It's easily one of the best games *of all time!*
Masahiro Ito said that when Pyramid Head seems into some "having fun", in reality it's nothing like that but an illusion of us towards that scene, Pyramid just moves the monster without sexual intentions
This is my favorite horror game of all time. We need more horror games like this then more Amnesia clones or jumpscare fests where nothing actually tries to kill you and there's no game over. This game had creepy sound, monster, and level design that always kept you on your toes. You could actually fight back, but in the higher difficulties they're no pushovers so it might be a better idea to run from them. The story was surreal and full of twists. This game was true psychological horror, something we don't see done right anymore.
Person Guy Right? This is the game I go to when I want nightmares lol. I'm not a fan of jumpscares (they're cheap and I don't want to bother my roommates when they make me yell), so I try to avoid those kinds of games, but I love the creepy horror that worms its way into your subconscious like maggots on a carcass and festers there for days.
According to the director (I think, maybe just the art director?) James' wife Mary is actually in the back seat. Whether she's in the trunk or the back seat, it's 100% that James took her body with him to Silent Hill.
In the remake her body is actually in the back seat. It's very hard to see normally, but using a freecam mod you can easily see there is a body shaped lump covered by a blanket in the back seat.

Late answer, but remember that he said at the beginning of the video that the tools he use also improve the rendering distance. You can see it at 3:15, how the original rendering distance is merely 10/15 metres from James and he extent it fourfold. I actually learn a lot from these videos. Actually, it's so cool to see my favorite titles actually explored in depth. It's an actual treat to actually actualize these moments into an actual video where I can actually have otherwise hidden moments actually shown off, with an actual person actually explaining what's actually happening.
Everything in this video looks squished because the game was recorded on an 21:9 monitor and then squished to 16:9. The game was running at 16:9 with black bars on the side, so when the picture and the bars are squished from 21:9 to 16:9, you get this weird squished image. As more people get 21:9 monitors 21:9 to 16:9 squishing is going to become more common than 4:3 to 16:9 stretching.
The footage in this video are not from the HD Collection as the ground textures are the suitably dirty ones from PS2/Xbox/PC version and not the remade clean ones from the HD Collection.
My mistake. I assumed that since the original image (before it was compressed) was 16:9 that it was the HD collection. If it isn't the HD collection then it's probably one of the other versions running with a wide screen hack. My point about the aspect ratio still stands.
Hey! I'm a long-time fan of your channel! Was wondering what's the chance we'd see a SH2 remake episode of boundary break!? Thanks in advance if you're already in the works for that, or if this comment inspires you that's great! Either way I hope you've been well!
My god. I've done it. The timing was right. My finger was ready. And I was here. I saw the triple-digit viewer count. It was glorious. Also, hi Shesez. :)
Thanks dude! :) Silent Hill 2 is defiantly in my top 3 games of all time! Sooo many memories of watching my dad play it and myself as well. This game is something else man really haven't ever been able to find another game that matches it's atmosphere and details. I'd really! Love to see you do the other games as well.
Thank you!! I love this kind of stuff for many reasons. It is so great to see the kind of tricks they had to use when hardware posed much stricter limitations. In many ways it's like how movie special effects were like before everything was CGI. And I just always want to know more everything of something I love and the old Silent Hill games are among my favourite works ever. This was the first video on your channel I saw and I'm glad to see there's so many more. :D
I honestly will never understand why there hasn’t been a remake for any of the Silent Hill games, they would be so hyped up and great for people who haven’t played them or for fans of the originals
I have never been able to play any of the silent hill games BUT....i love watching the details they did to the games, i always love to see the details in any game, because is amazing
Great video. The island was _discovered_ a long time ago. It's been more than four years since I last looked at it using SHviewer on the PC. Fungo found there's also an unused sound file for a lakemonster in that area.
Very interesting video. One thing that always made me curious was in Silent Hill 4: The Room. There is this area in the mines where the player can find a grating and Henry says something like this: "There is something on the other side of the wire netting, my god it stinks. There is nothing interesting *BUT* ..." I tried to break the fence, nothing worked. I'm almost sure there is indeed nothing there, but it picks my curiosity to this day.
4:04 -- These purple textures were, back in the day, in map editors used to have properties such as invisible walls, to activate triggers, animations, to activate visual effects, respawns, etc.
Great one man! Back in the old days I used to look for those "secrets" on old school forums. The feeling of seeing another corner - priceless! Thanks once again!
You missed the one thing I’ve wondered for years! The pool house in the lake side apartments courtyard. There is a door thats just out of reach that has a door line on the map and is the only door you cannot check even though the map shows a path to it but its blocked by a gate in game..
Not gonna lie, I was holding my breath while watching this for some reason. I was expecting to find out something unusual and creepy while exploring the place.
This is my first time with this series. SH2 is such an immersive game its actually pretty charming to see how they pulled it off on the limited hardware they had.
Love the comparison on the fog and getting new precipitation I went without glasses until 17, and things I thought wore down with age are suddenly the same texture I remember from being 5 xD

Just seeing these locations and hearing the ambient noise from the game was enough to give me chills in this video. SH2 is definitely my favorite piece of horror fiction across all mediums
what a great channel that I find here SH2 is my favorite game of the entire serie and SH is my favorite game so.... yeah I played them all loved the channel, subscribed already and gonna watch the playlist for sure and already sent to a friend
They did camera work like this in RE4 and the Cutscene at the beginning when the guy hopped out of the car to take a piss, the camera was moved to see if he actually was and he was just holding his hands together.
Actually, the said fog overlay is really a bunch of interactive particles which you can push aside when you run into them. They also interact with the flashlight and light up to it in 3 and Origins on the PS2. If you run around the cold mist in Eddie's meat locker room, you can actually have a little bit of fun with it and push it all around. Its pretty impressive!
A game I would love to see you guys break is Until Dawn on PS4, as I love the game (even though it is far from perfect lol), and have always wondered alot about all the things you can't see when playing...examples include: who is really sitting in the chair with the analyst in his scenes... is the "monster" waiting off-screen to strike at any time and what are other characters doing when your not looking etc...things like that. It would also fit in perfectly as a "spooky" game for october, if not no worries, you've probably got much better options anyway, it's just a fan suggestion, I love your series regardless and I know you'll keep me entertained. Keep up the good work
Can you boundary break a game called Fatal frame? Idk if you ever heard of it, but I’m sure it was in competition with the silent hill games for the ps2! It was a really good game and very lore heavy

Thought the aspect ratio looked off, I assumed they used the HD collection though.
They did. They just recorded it off of a 21:9 monitor that added bars to the sides. Then it got compressed back to 16:9 with the bars.
What a masterpiece this game is! Just hearing the soundtrack takes me back! Great storyline.
Suggestions for an eventual episodes - Mother 3, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Knights of the Old Republic
YES MOTHER 3!!
...AND MAYBE A KINGDOM HEARTS GAME?
Jimmy ButtWhiff i think he allready did conker
Hey! I'm a long-time fan of your channel! Was wondering what's the chance we'd see a SH2 remake episode of boundary break!? Thanks in advance if you're already in the works for that, or if this comment inspires you that's great! Either way I hope you've been well!
ua-cam.com/video/FohXjLZsjjA/v-deo.html
One of my favorite games of all time. Thanks for the video!
I’d love to see the entire game like this. All 4 of of the first ones for that matter. This was so cool. Thank you!
Hasnt even been out for enough time for a good comment as of commenting, but I just wanted to say I love this channel.
Who’s watching this after SH2 remake released?
thank you :)
0:30 ngl i thought you were gonna say "like james sunderland" and i was gonna be like "oh no"
Can't believe 2017 is 7 years ago. Seing 7 years ago always makes me think that it's from 2012 or something
Silent Hill 3 - Off camera secrets (i want to see Harry's face)
It's shown in the Silent Hill HD collection, I don't think it was intentional.
it's just older James model
@@bazznezz what a dogshit port that was
ua-cam.com/video/81dAI99ydJ0/v-deo.html
2:30 it's not a fan theory, historically Mary is in there. The own developers said this. (It's inside but not literally)
I'm so glad that the island is actually there! That makes me very happy dude. Even if it's just a basic model.
Oh man, seeing you do Silent Hill 2 makes me want to see you do a few of the Fatal Frame games. Hopefully sometime in the future.
I have already made the camera for Fatal frame 1 and 2 just waiting for the right time I guess.
SWEET. 2 is my favourite. I also loved both Wii games. Haven't played the WiiU game, sadly.
2 is my favorite as well. Maybe next October we can convince him to make an fatal frame episode.
YESSS I love Fatal Frame so much. My favorite is and always will be the first one.
HillsKB I enjoyed the first one but Miku and mafuyu's relationship got weirder as the plot progressed
I honestly will never understand why there hasn’t been a remake for any of the Silent Hill games, they would be so hyped up and great for people who haven’t played them or for fans of the originals
Why is Jame's head so long? I never really noticed how long his head is until now. Who's skull is the character based off of.
It looks like the aspect ratio is squished or something.
Because he's always sad.
Get it...
Agent_Ash lol why the long face James? Hahaha. Good one.
James is modeled after his VO & motion capture actor Guy Cihi.
The resolution is squished so it looks long
I have never been able to play any of the silent hill games BUT....i love watching the details they did to the games, i always love to see the details in any game, because is amazing
Turn off the filters and fog, annnnd ya made the HD version, except with good voice acting.
Gilbals I have lots of fog ad I'm playing the hd version
😂
Gilbals. in SH2,you can play the game with the original voiceovers in the HD Collection.
@@magita1991 The fog is in the HD version, it's just not very good fog. Play the original and you'll see it objectively has better fog.
Great video.
The island was _discovered_ a long time ago. It's been more than four years since I last looked at it using SHviewer on the PC. Fungo found there's also an unused sound file for a lakemonster in that area.
Big ups Shesez.
I listen to the Boundary Break playlist while I sleep, so I really appreciate you keeping it chill.
Stumbled across this channel. What a fun idea! Really enjoyed this.
Ooh Silent Hill 2 I’m ready I’m so ready
4:04 -- These purple textures were, back in the day, in map editors used to have properties such as invisible walls, to activate triggers, animations, to activate visual effects, respawns, etc.
Yeah. A good example is the HPL Engine's "blockwall".
It's 2019 and I'm watching this boundary break and I'm still immediately hypnotized by the soundtrack.
Great one man! Back in the old days I used to look for those "secrets" on old school forums. The feeling of seeing another corner - priceless! Thanks once again!
Ah great comment. Im really glad you found some closure in this episode
Shesez any chance you could get your hands on the first SH? That would totally rock my world!
Amazing game and a gorgeous soundtrack. I love SH2
I've played sh2 probably 50 times and every time I always look for any tiny detail I might have not noticed before so this is super cool!
Pistons inside fleshy holes symbolizing something of a girl's past....I guess it's safe to assume what I think it is?
So many... Pistons.. Lol
You should definitely experience this game to find out.
The boss in this scene is called "Abstract Daddy" and if you look it up, the model looks like two people beneath sheets so...
@@b1-66er2 , hahahauahahahahahahaha
Alabama people
You missed the one thing I’ve wondered for years!
Are you still holding your breath?
That intro with the original "Promise" by Akira gave me goosebumps.
So I decided to go and show your channel to some people. There's a high chance of your work becoming class examples in some game development degrees.
Wow, this was a surreal experience. Thanks to both of you for such a unique look behind the game.
Can you try to get your hands on PT for a mini boundary break?
This is my first time with this series. SH2 is such an immersive game its actually pretty charming to see how they pulled it off on the limited hardware they had.
13:16
What a thriiii~ll
Seestern how about if you missed a step.... And fell.
Love the comparison on the fog and getting new precipitation
I went without glasses until 17, and things I thought wore down with age are suddenly the same texture I remember from being 5 xD
I love your channel!
It helps me solve a lot of questions I have been carrying in years! And they were killing me! D:
You could do a Clock Tower 3 vid :)))
There's a lot of doors that don't open, and I even dreamed I was going throught that doors! lol
8:17 can easily be mistaken as a screenshot from SH2 from the HD Collection. Also that corpse at 12:49 kinda looks like Harry Mason from SH1.
will the next video be silent hill 3 ?
Yes please!
Thirded, I NEED this
due to the success of the Silent Hill 2 video. Silent Hill 3 will eventually be covered on this channel
this month?
Shesez don't forget to check the confession booth in S.H. 3.
I'm glad right out the gate you show the mirror trick. Silent Hill was the first series to do this.
"There will be no jump scares or intentional scares in this episode."
Still hides in the moment section cause you don't trust anybody.
I wish i could just sit and watch you livestream a boundary break of everything in this game i miss playing silent hill 2.
This is amazing thank you so much for doing this! My favorite game ever!! (Hence my name)
Just seeing these locations and hearing the ambient noise from the game was enough to give me chills in this video. SH2 is definitely my favorite piece of horror fiction across all mediums
7:00
"So i actually thought this was pretty awesome"
*rape scene*
lul
One of the best games of all time...the feeling of nostalgia is almost overwhelming...Great episode dude
Really hope to see the second floor of the hallway/house from P.T. and the outside area from the ending cut scene.
You get nothing
what a great channel that I find here
SH2 is my favorite game of the entire serie
and SH is my favorite game
so.... yeah
I played them all
loved the channel, subscribed already and gonna watch the playlist for sure
and already sent to a friend
Dude I couldnt be more thankful. thank you so much!
now we need a boundary break video for the remake
ua-cam.com/video/FohXjLZsjjA/v-deo.html
They did camera work like this in RE4 and the Cutscene at the beginning when the guy hopped out of the car to take a piss, the camera was moved to see if he actually was and he was just holding his hands together.
still no Silent Hill 1 it's still interesting to see how much is hidden from view on Silent Hill 2
Can we all just agree that the music made for this game was genius. An audio masterpiece.
Cool guests, awesome episode!.
Awesome!! do Silent Hill 3 Then 4 Next!!
I appreciate the care and editing put into this series. Thanks for sharing! It's really interesting to see the secrets of Silent Hill.
I would love to see one of the original Silent Hill 😊
I'm so glad this finally came out! I've been waiting on this episode for AGES!
YES FINALLY THANK YOU SHESEZ
The music in the beginning and the first part of the background is so awesome! James look SO tired, beginning at 0:26.
I really wish youtubers would start telling us what music was used in the video in the big ass description box.
It's... well... Silent Hill 2 OST. All of it.
Agent_Ash Not the outro... Plus if there was just one song from the soundtrack I would rather not listen to a whole ost for a single song
Agent_Ash what's the intro and it's not "promise"
crazyearl1001 It is promise 😄
Lucy Broggi I can't find the version he uses anywhere then
Thanks for making this! I'm a long time SH fan and it's pretty awesome seeing "past the veil".
Do Boundary Break on Diddy Kong Racing
You need to be a total horror-newbie (or too young) to NOT know about the Fatal Frame.
Which is also known as "Project Zero" in Europe, and just "Zero" in Japan.
Teemuslayer a lot of my friends don’t know about it actually. It’s really weird. I grey playing the game from the ps2 up to the Wii U! But none of my friends from high school and college have ever heard of it. Would love to see boundary break or anything to just expand on it besides the game lore
Glad to see there are several of us requesting it. Maybe he’ll cover them. Nekorun said he already made the camera for the game in another comment
