I like how Arin was constantly trying to trigger the scary events for Dan, such as Lisa peering down from the balcony.
Honestly I hate it. I’m not sure if he’s actually trying to play dumb or being intentionally obvious to tease Dan but it feels forced when he’s lingering around waiting for moments and animations to activate, or setting up a scene by saying “oh, seems like things are normal around here” only to pan around to the creepy thing, like with the baby in the sink. I guess if you’re as easily scared as Dan it doesn’t take away from the experience though

Honestly I'm surprised, I've seen other play-through were Lisa is a lot more active. Like we barely saw her here.

I'm so disappointed that they didn't get the Lisa attack jumpscare where you get choked out. That would've killed Dan.

I know this is late but I want to say it anyway, either I've misheard rumours or something but I swear that death is much worse, lisa like paralysed the character by breaking their spine or something first I think :P it's been so long I cant really remember
@@teacooper6485 She appears to break their neck, and then after the player character collapses to the floor with a resounding thud, a zipper can be heard unzipping before the game plays what many interpret as the sound of something being bitten/chewed. Take from that what you will.

Can we talk about how amazingly perfectly timed Dan is at 20:26??? He literally is like "Yeah I'm done" and the game LITERALLY responds IMMEDIATELY AFTER by displaying ACTUAL TEXT as "No turning back now!" and it's the funniest shit I ever seen.
Well, it didn't actually respond to them personally- its just something that happens in the game but the TIMING IS FUGGIN AMAZING DUDE I LOVE IT

The first time you watch this you experience it like Dan, scared and confused. Second, viewing you are experiencing Arin's view, laughing, and suspense.
I m going to suffer through it so I can watch It again from arins perspective
I just wish Arin either a) wasn't so goddamned terrible at pretending he doesn't know what's going on, or b) actually played something for the first time at the same time Dan is playing something for the first time. Listening to him fail not to spoil anything is mind-bendingly frustrating.

Good news everyone! They revisited shitting themselves in terror for this wondrous occasion!
This is such a fantastic horror game that it literally caused Dan permanent emotional trauma. To this day he still compares every other horror game he plays to this.
Now he does the same thing with Doki Doki Literature Club. Any time he's even a little bit suspicious of a creepy plot twist he immediately name checks DDLC.
P.T. was a masterpiece. It's the only demo/teaser I've ever seen stand alone excellently by itself and also it's inspired tons of other games to imitate it's style.

Toni I can’t find the part, but I swear it happens one of the times that the player has the flashlight and shines it on the wall and window next to the nightstand. I saw a shadow of a head and shoulders twitching violently.
And now we've found out through hacks that the actual monster model was right behind the player at pretty much all times. Like the sounds actually emanated from a physical model behind you. That's dedication to the craft.

Yup, apparently that's why you sometimes see weird/flickering shadows. Those shadows are being cast by the Lisa's model behind the player
Luna AngelEclipse it’s such s genius way to generate those shadows.
I think that's only during the "gouge it out" loop, because she actually disappears after you gouge the picture (plus all of the shadows and noises come from just that loop, or if you get possessed during the hello or final loop). Plus it wouldn't actually make sense if she was following you when she's up on the balcony, or spawns randomly in the hallway during those 2 loops, so yeah I don't think she follows you the entire time.
This was another episode of Game Grumps where my father was in the room with me while this episode played. Every time the guys screamed, he would come over to my computer and ask, "What happened? Rewind it!"

@@Vice_Verse0 As in 'does it hold up over time?'. Early PS1 3D graphics look terrible today but 16 bit sprite based games still looks good enough that you don't need to guess what the pixels are trying to represent.
@@Gooong The "hold up over time" point is ridiculous, because nothing from past looks as good as most things in the present. Mostly due to it being made with older technology compared to the advanced machines we currently employ. Just because people feel or think a sprite based game looks good, doesn't make it actually timeless. It means a lot of people feel a certain way, objectively, older technology is inferior to newer technology.
@@Vice_Verse0 Its not technology, its style. That's why most people agree Windwaker holds up and while Twilight Princess looks old despite being newer.
@@Gooong Two things. I wouldn't say Windwaker holds up, its just a preferred style by many. It makes sense for people who share those thoughts to say such things, but those aren't facts.
Speaking of which, that's a subjective measurement. Windwaker's cartoony style mostly seems similar to the same cel-shaded look as a slew of other works.. Just as there are people who like that style, there are people like me who dislike it, and prefer Twilight Princess's look. Separate cases, but not an actual point.

I think one of the reasons this specific lets-play is iconic is because almost none of the jumpscares in the game get triggered, but Dan and Arin still get pants-shíttingly scared.

The game director(s) wanted the player to have a feeling like they were being followed throughout the hallway. So they literally just put Lisa in the game to follow the player when they're not watching. You can see her shadow twitching behind you at certain angles and lights in the hallway.
Every time Arin turns the camera, I have a mini panic attack knowing this shit.
There actually is a psychological basis around this. Something like 80% of the time when you genuinely feel like someone's watching you it's probably true.
