This is why the Doctor was my role-model as a kid, because he isn't a good person but that he makes himself be kind and promises to himself that he must never give up or give in to his tendencies. It's the story of a bad man trying to be good and (mostly) succeeding, a redemption arc for someone who feels like they shouldn't have one
Real talk.
The doctor is a Alien that has been humanised by his companions to do good and face evil! The doctor would be nothing without his companions
He isn’t a good person? What are you on. If you were being objective then yeah(no one is good) but, there’s literally no better person than him.
*Never cruel or cowardly. Never give up. Never give in. And if you ever are, always make amends.*
And never ever eat pears!
Moete kitazou(?
How quickly they forgot the phrase "Coward any day"
There’s a difference between being a coward and acting cowardly. Cowards can be the bravest ones of all.
@@jmace2424 "If you're very wise and very strong fear doesn't have to make you cruel or cowardly. Fear can make you kind."
He picked coward over killer, so I’d say his morales are still intact
@@logicaldreamer9641 Where was this one said, I wanna rewatch it
@@dylanjavier5712 it's from the episode "Listen"
The Doctor is getting closer and closer to the valeyard and it’s frankly terrifying
Well, Big Finish brought us a good Missy in the Lumiat..I'd love to see the next iteration of the production team handle a modern Valeyard. Not Chibnall, though..he'd find some way to ruin it.
Not so scary anymore is it.
There's only one bit I wish had been included, from the McGann short, "Night of the Doctor".
OHILA: Because you are the good man, as you call yourself?
DOCTOR: I call myself the Doctor.
OHILA: It's the same thing in your mind.
DOCTOR: I'd like to think so.
Because that right there really informs Capaldi's question even more than the events of Melody's birth do.
The words of main character of my stories:
"I've lived for centuries and you know what I noticed? Love, friendship, kindness - those are the foundation of everything. Remove them from the equation and the math just fails, the world falls apart. Trust me, I know. I've seen a world like that. That's what most people call hell. Because hell is not a place. Hell is the state of mind."
If the Doctor asks me:
"Am I a good Man?"
I would say:
I dunno, but you are not the worst.
And even If I seem to be a good man, I am also no good man either.
I have some kind of balance between being good and bad.
God I miss this feeling of wonder and sorrow. We need it back.
Dont worry we still get plenty of sorrow in the new seasons
@@thesounddisciple9213 We really don't though do we
@@thebobbrom7176 I get the sorrow by looking at what they've done to the show
I like the optimism of 13
@@thesounddisciple9213 that's the wrong kind of sorrow
the "Never cruel nor cowardly" line was originally from the 1999's "Curse of the Fatal Death", written by Steven Moffat and Rowan Atkinson as The Doctor.
Was it actually from that? I thought it was a fluke.
Im upset theres no "and never eat pears"
This is perfect, it shows not the mask but the true Doctor, not the happy adventurer that goes on trips with friends but the survivor, the man who had done worst things then we can possibly know and never forgets and never forgives, not others but himself, he has been around for centuries but he has never let himself become the Master, no matter how hard it was sometimes to face evil, no matter how close he was to breaking a rule he made, he stayed strong, he became the word for healer when in truth there is a thing inside that reminds people why he is the predator of the Daleks, this has captured that side perfectly and I salute you for doing as much
12th Doctor WILL always be the best doctor.
This broke my heart into pieces listening to that...but that was amazing💙
Nicely done :D Really well-chosen scenes and lines! This is beautiful :)
Who I am is where I stand, Where I stand is where I fall
This is really well done and quite a tribute to the inner character of the Doctor!. Well done! 👏👏👏
The Doctor is not a good man.
But he is the right man.
That was beautiful! Thank you so much. You did an amazing job.
Never cruel or cowardly...
9th Doctor discovers captured Metaltron is a Dalek: “Hold my beer.”
Everyone will stumble and fall from grace. Nobody abides by the rules 100% of the time. When you are so wracked by emotions, you cannot guarantee your actions. Cut the man some slack- He's seen more death than you or I likely ever will.
@@voidsauce2616 clue is in the word Never.
Never travel on a motorway in the wrong direction. Aw give them some slack, they’ve been driving way more than you or I.
@@eddherring4972 A fair point to be made, but I still stand by my words.
A code or promise is an ideal, something to strive for and live up to, but falling is inevitable. The question is do you give up your ideal just because you've failed or do you learn from it, make amends to the best of your abilities?
@@Rkurnelm being cruel is an unnecessary choice, not the kind of thing you break a code or promise for, especially when you’re being cruel to a harmless and defenceless creature, even if it is a Dalek. Kill to end its suffering but cruel for the sake of it?
You've perfectly captured the essence of The Doctor. ❤️❤️
The Doctor will always be my role model because he always tried to give everyone a chance to be better. I know he is fictional, but if I could wish one fictional character to be real it would be the Doctor. I would literally take a bullet for him.
Fine, you won. I’ll watch Doctor Who one more time
This is the epitome of what it means to be the Doctor. You have an amazing understanding of how to edit and put clips together in such a way to make someone feel the Doctors sorrow and anger and so much more. It's absolutely beautiful. Thank you.
To whomever edited this: I love you
This is the video that Jodie Whittaker needed to see before she started her run.
i seriously think that chris Chibnall should see tht to understand the doctor
He can’t, he’s too busy jacking himself to his used worn-out copy of the Virgin New Adventures book, Lungbarrow. If he couldn’t make them “The Other” than by Rassilon, he’ll make her “The Timeless Child”!
This doctor is gone unfortunately, hence why his ring falling off was emphasized during capaldis regeneration. The doctor completed his arc, the man river song married is gone. I considered capaldis regeneration the end of the show, mainly because this new doctor is just boring.
@@Amartin-mu6oj Please, Jodie has shown a lot of potential and energy in non-Chibnail related scripts and non-Chibnail directed episodes! It’s always been Chibnail, he’s been holding Jodie back with upper-management pleasing inoffensive blandness since day one of her tenure. And I’m hardly the only person that thinks this, the most common response I’ve seen to that The Guardian leak about her leaving is “Why can’t Chris leave so we can see if Jodie would flourish under a better director/writer/producer?”, people have even brought up how much better Colin Baker has been in the Big Finish and BBC radio produced audio dramas, proving what fans have already been saying about his behind-the-scenes troubles to be 100% true.
@@Popcultureguy3000 I never said she didn't have potential, nor does that invalidate anything i said. I agree that chibnall is the main issue, but the reason i don't enjoy the new regeneration is because it's essentially a clean slate for the character, and i find it boring. I get that you like jodie, she's a great actress, but you don't have to be condescending ass about it.
@@Amartin-mu6oj Sorry. I am so used to people attacking her like she’s the problem that I automatically went into defense mode.
Dude this hit so hard. Thank you to whoever made this.
I wonder how he remembers two groups: the people who he couldn't save, and the people who were only saved because of him.
I really miss when The Doctor was Capaldi, I watched most the newer series and it just doesn't hit the same... feels more watered-down, less dramatic with almost no impact, even the bs timeless child episodes felt like it was forced... as if anyone needed to know the Doctor was some special entity? A real step back...
I must confess I didn’t appreciate Capaldi at the time but more so now .... I totally agree with you on the recent stuff such a shame
@@adelucas5472 i didn't like him at first but I didn't really give him much of a chance, and I don't like some of his episodes or how they killed off and reanimated his companion, but overall he actually was a good actor
@@ricanparadox we are totally on the same wavelength
Good men don't need to ask if their good and bad men don't care. The Doctor is not a good man. But at least he tries with all he has left to be KIND.
This is pure beauty, well done!
Beautiful, thank you!
this is STUNNING! Seriously you did such an amazing job! Just *claps* wow!
I think this is why the newest doctor really hurts me on a personal level. They NEVER mention any of this. Honestly I keep googling if it’s suppose to be a soft reboot.
None of it. None of the ageless weight of impossible choices. No reflections of the times they’d commit genocide to save a friend, only to give up by a single look of that friend, knowing that if they did- just the gaze of their friend, forever, would make them know they were wrong.
I mean hell I’m still upset about her like 4th ep on a hospital ship where she ALMOST HELD A SHIP HOSTAGE AT GUNPOINT TO TURN BACK SEVERAL DAYS until the ships surgeon convinced her if they turned back, half the patients wouldn’t survive
Even THEN she was like “ugh I guess” and never had an apology or reflection in that episode. (Same for the spider ep where she, KNOWING ALL OF THEM WERE DESTINED TO GROW AND SUFFOCATE ((or starve, in that bunker)) was like “nooo ending them now is cruel, let them either die slowly or kill innocent people!”)
And I like her, the character (in premise) even some of the companions (though I think 3 brand new with a brand new doctor is too much)
And I love the actors
And her 2nd season tried to be closer.
But this? Any of THIS? Wasn’t there.
Very cleverly edited, it makes a powerful message
Goosebumps .... thank you
Absolutely wonderful, amazing!
Damn... These onions...

Excellent editing.
Thank you...
Gorgeous!
Every soldier and every doctor.. nicely done.
It's really good and well put together but only a few Doctors, not every one.
It’s only ”every” if you are a total Nuwho-only-fan who truly think Eccleston were the first Doctor!
(The edit is brilliant tho!)
Very well played good sir.
I always kind of took issue with what River and the others in that episode say about what the word “Doctor” means because while it does mean “Healer”, imagine what the disease that he is curing thinks of him. But he is doing it because it’s right, decent, and kind.
That was an AMAZING video!!!!!!
Best speech ever....
Never cruel and cowardly except when he is.
When you are the best of all you continously worry if it is enough.
Well done 💪

"Never cruel or cowardly" Then they give us the 13th Doctor, who never confronts any of the bad guys unless she has a mini army with her or a force field blocking them approaching her. The 12th Doctor went are squared up against the Half-Face Man, knowing it's extremely likely he will just rip him in half.
Then she is shown to be extremely cruel by locking a group of her opponents in a room for them to eat each other or starve because "killing" is wrong.
