"Laugh hard, run fast, be kind..."
As you all know by now, 12th is my favourite incarnation and I'm still in a state of grief that he is gone. Peter Capaldi portrayed Doctor astoundingly. Sometimes when the script was not good enough he would still make it a very enjoyable episode. His Doctor gradually learned that being kind is the most important thing, "without hope, without witness and without reward".
I had to travel back in time and show you what I miss from the show. I hope you like it.
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE !

Peter's portrayal of the doctor is hands down the most accurate out of the character, alot of people miss the fact how he has elements of his old selfish ways fighting with the new life changing experiences that made him grounded and understanding of the universe. God im gonna miss this man

He wasn’t my first Doctor, but he’s my Doctor. That first face you think of when someone mentions Doctor Who. He was always born to play the role. Brilliant isn’t a good enough word for him.

After Matt Smith's masterful portrayal of the Doctor, I wasn't sure anybody could live up to it. I knew he had to go eventually, but I was convinced I had seen the best Doctor, and that's saying something considering how good David Tennant was.
And yet Peter Capaldi... blew me away yet again. I mean no offense to Matt Smith or David Tennant, both were masterful, but Peter Capaldi drew me in like no other Doctor.

Love this, the music is everything. This man was amazing. He embodied this character. I've always said if the Doctor was real he'd have Twelve's face. Trust me, history will be VERY kind to Capaldi and Moffat. A massively layered, textured and meaningful era of the show.
His relationship with *Clara* will go down as one of the best pairings in Doctor Who history. I always Imagine how in *Dark Water* he can’t believe that she thinks he cares for her so little that betraying him would make a difference. Her eyes looking inflated and she’s frowning and she's so defeated. After he’d been working so hard to understand her, because he’d always try, for her. His teacher, his friend. He cares a lot more than she could possibly know. And she thinks betraying him could make a difference.
When he first meets *Bill* he's instantly took by her, and wants to show her the universe. When he's sitting inside the TARDIS looking at the monitor in *Twice Upon a Time* and Bill suddenly appears, he immediately runs out and hugs her. When he realises she's a glass version of Bill, he doesn't care, she doesn’t look any different to him. Not really. Not necessarily because he’s blinded by adoration for this woman as they both made such a remarkable impact on each others lives.
The Doctor that spent the longest amount of time with *River Song* staying by her side for 24 years on Darillium. When she's proclaiming her love to the Doctor in *The Husbands of River Song* telling everyone how he doesn't love her enough to rescue her, without even realising that he's standing listening to her speech the entire time, only to turn around and say _"Hello Sweetie"_ and she thinks the Doctor didn't love her as much as she loves him.
*Nardole* the Doctor's first ever alien companion kept him in check throughout the many years he travelled with him by remembering the Doctor what his wife said in her diary _"Goodness is not goodness that seeks advantage. Good is good in the final hour, in the deepest pit without hope, without witness, without reward. Virtue is only virtue in extremis. This is what he believes, and this is the reason above all, I love him. My husband. My madman in a box. My Doctor."_ As the Doctor & Nardole's relationship grew, you could tell the respect Nardole had for the Doctor as he would occasionally call him *Sir.*
Then There's *Missy.* Unlike any other Doctor/Master pairing I could really believe that these two used to be friends, he tried so hard to turn her good! Which makes the scene in *The Doctor Falls* all the more sad, when he asked Missy to stay with him but she said no and walked away. As she later decided to go back only for the Master shoot her in the back, the Doctor never knew that Missy, his only friend that was even remotely like him was going back to help him fight the Cybermen. Instead they both lay on the ground defeated and broken.

*The man whose eyebrows are enough to send the monsters of a million galaxies and the denizens of demons fleeing in fear! The Doctor who defeated Rassilon without speaking a single word other than "Get off my planet." The Doctor that finally got to salute Brigadier. The Doctor that found and visited Gallifrey again. The Doctor that met young Davros, all those centuries ago. He's faced down a Mummy on the Orient Express, stopped a war using two empty boxes, punched a wall for four and a half billion years, misunderstood the romantic intent of a puddle, insulted Santa, met Robin Hood and so much more!*

Love your coment, amazing. Only have two things to say, Nardole isn't the first alien companion, I mean, Adric for example wasn't from Earth, and I think he had a robot somewhere along the line
And second, in twice upon a time, he is constantly conflicted with Bill being glass, if I remember correctly, and is distant towards her

Capaldi became my favorite very quickly. Throughout his run, they tackled what it meant to be good in a way that they never had before. They started him off questioning if he was a good man. He was rude, cross, and Clara was his surrogate "carer." I'm not sure "kind" could even be used to describe him for most of series 8 but he ends up giving a better monologue about kindness than even Matt Smith ever gave. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed 11's run and he has incredibly uplifting speeches himself. To me, Peter Capaldi is the most relatable doctor because he has to work hard to be kind.

Firetale I think you are right about Clara, but unlike Rose and Donna, there are none of her Family members that play a significant role with the Doctor (although, I don’t think 11th made a good first impression to her family either in the episode when he regenerated).
I think Clara is supposed to be an independent character, which is the reason we don’t get to see her family often, but I share your sentiment after the 50th anniversary where she suddenly became a teacher (thought she was a babysitter/caretaker before). However, I do also think that Clara made a great chemistry with 12th, to the point where she is as capable as the Doctor in the “Flatline”.
And for Bill, well, I think her character is somehow sacrificed as the season 10 is more focused on the relationship between Doctor and Missy, which I think is superb as it led us to “The Doctor Falls”.
I think I hear a lot daging that inconsistent and weak scripts in some part is a normal issue during Moffat era, and well, it is a consequence of his usually complex story line. But in my opinion, Moffat’s strength is his understanding of the character of “the Doctor”, which give us significant moments (and speeches) that I find can cover his shortcomings.
Anyway, I will really miss Capaldi, he is my Doctor through and through. Thanks Garo, happy holiday!

      @philippebernard4577 5 років тому

@@Gosti85 I don't agree with you. Rose and Donna had really much time than Bill (just one season, as they knew since the beginning)... Amy & Rory (my favorites !) spent 2 years ½ with 'one' Doctor only. Clara, that you obviously don't like, because her arc was interesting, had to get used to two totally different, oposite even, Doctors : a "crazy" young man of who she was both afraid and fascinated; and then an "old" one with who she didn't match during the 8th series, that's true, but it was really better after, in my opinion... I just think that you're not found of the Moffat's "universe", let's say (Why not ? I can understand that...) and, most of all, a great RTD / Tennant nostalgic fan !... I understand that too, but nine years have past, and as you will see when your Netflix will broadcast it, the 11th season is worst in every single aspects : When you think they're gonna give you some indications to "give life and flesh" to their characters, it leads nowhere !... Only Brad Walsh survives, because he's a good and experimented actor; but the scripts are awful, totally empties and without a single moment of thrill or passion. Everything is really so "PC" and cheesy, and worst of all there is no fantasy, no fun at all !... Really crap, for me, and it "killed" DW, sadly... Anyway, they are so bad and out of ideas and direction that there's going to have one more 'gap year'!... The reboot they wanted, with a woman as the Doctor, is a total failure, a true suicide which is burning even in the fan bases ! They're going back in the cycle that had lead The 6th and 7th to decline and desapear, and that's a shame. And it makes clear how RTD and then Moffat were great fans of DW, first, and real good writers and showrunners, surrounded by a team of solid people to always get thru and re-invent the show... That's not the case this time, and it's a pity to see... But you will make your mind by yourself in breve, I hope ! Greetings... 😏 PS: Maybe that "Laksmana Hanif Nugroho" explains it all really better than me. I'm even sure of that, and I fully agree with his analyse. 100% !!!

When I wrote about the chemistry with 12th, I was meaning that it is, in a way (with the identity of that mysterious woman that's always throwing each one of them both, since the first episode of season 7, in the path of the other...) the arc of that 8th series : Who is that new Doctor, "lost in the ruins of himself" and his "lifes", and how will change his relationship with Clara, who now is working, stil with children, at the same school that we can see during ALL the Doctor Who's life on Earth, since the first episode of the first series of the "Classic Era", and until the 10th series !...

Not going to lie, there were days that I loved Matt smith (Still do) and I spent a lot of time relating myself with him. I was that optimistic whimsical guy that ran towards challenge and progress with glee. However, 4 years ago I changed. Life happened. People left and I was alone. I fell into depression worse than ever. Started to forget what was most important. Getting lost in all of the unanswered questions. Finding it difficult to trust anyone with my actual feelings, and every time I finally would, they would leave me again. I grew bitter and the things that used to make me happy, hurt to think about.
And it brings tears to my eyes, what a gift Capaldi was for me. Because Capaldi was me just as much as Matt Smith was. The timing was perfect and as I descended into depression, there he was. Expressing the hardship that I kept buried deep down. Thinking no one would care to listen, because everyone I cared about and actively tried to help was gone. I started to question everything that had happened. All that I had done. Did I do all that I could have? Did I make things worse? Was I actually a good man, or did I just project that idea of myself onto a situation without actually changing anything?
I became much more irritable. I could still fake kindness to get by at work. But I did nothing to push for anything more than a surface level relationship. If someone tried to ask me a personal question, I would deflect and make a joke. To this day, I still have trust issues. People say they aren't going anywhere, and I immediately doubt them. It's not fair, but I'm not being rational about it. It's like a trigger when I hear those words. My mind immediately thinks, "NOPE. Go ahead and get what you want to say out of the way and leave."
While I still have difficulty trusting people past surface level conversation, I have been getting better. And as Capaldi kindness, so did I. I learned to accept this darker part of myself. While it is hard, it carries it's own heart. And the pain I've gone through has taught me compassion. I do not wish the pain on anyone, but I know that only bad things will come from trying to stop it. I can however be around for when it does. Be that person who was there to remind you that would hadn't ended, and in the darkest times when you felt truly alone, there was someone there who was kind.

Twelve was the Doctor who earned his name. He was the one who, like a Doctor, wasn't born with his ability to do no harm. He had to learn. Over time, we saw it. And for his entire run, he kept struggling with it.
No other Doctor has struggled quite like it. Nine probably came the closest, and Ten wallowed in all his failures for long enough for it to count. But Twelve made it his mission to turn his struggle into a cause. To be a Doctor. He has the gift of near-infinite time, and he used it to help others.

One of the best performances of this role, period. Even with a victim of sub-par writing Capaldi embraced the role and made it his own. Brilliant. Under-appreciated.

"Listen" is hands down one of my most favorite episode. His take on 12 and how he made the stories come alive was an absolute pleasure to watch.
I respect 9, and I loved 10 and 11's stories and the actors. Tenannt was my first doctor! But Peter brought something else to the doctor that separated him from others.
I met him at comic con and I was speechless. He was a wonderful and charming man!

The 12th doctor always passed me the ideia of being an old, more mature version of 10th, while still managing to be his own thing. Peter made an absolute AMAZING job in the role and I couldn't be more thankful for his Doctor and his message.

Dammit, I miss him so much. It feels like I miss him even more now than I did when he finished his run, because I'm very uninspired by the new take on story lines. 12 is my favourite Doctor and he will always represent exactly what the Doctor should be: complex, dramatic, but in the end just a man who travels the stars and shows them to others because it's kind. And we should be just that. Kind. Thank you so much for this fabulous reminder. Merry Christmas!

Twelve might have seen the ratings go down, but looking back he's got among the best speeches and quotes from the whole series, speeches that truly capture the essence of the doctor. I don't think many liked him at first, but he's truly an amazing doctor. Not the nicest or the friendliest doctor, but still a great doctor.

I'm no more a young man, in fact Peter Capaldi and me were born the same year. Maybe it is one reason, but surely not the only one; anyway 12th is my favourite incarnation of the Doctor and it's so good to see him again... Specially after this terrible year with JW, who for me, isn't the Doctor at all, sorry. That makes 12th the last and the greatest Doctor... Let's say that he finally has decided not to regenerate; it makes a sad, but less ugly and better ending ! Have a good road, mister Peter Capaldi, and thank you for those marvelous years, and too for being you, cos you appears to be a good man, as you were asking through the Doctor's mouth in series eight.

No actor could portraits the Doctor as good as Perter Capaldi because non of them prepared and imagined themselves as the Doctor for the entirety of their life like Peter Capaldi. He understands the intention, the behavior, the personality of the Doctor like it is a part of him as he is a 60 years old whovian who grown up under the influence of the Doctors. If Doctor exists, he will be the 12th.

The Twelfth Doctor imo was necessary for the revived era. Why? Because I think seeing a man at Capaldi's age in the modern world stand for justice, truth, and caring for people ... It inspires the young, and reminds us that no matter how old we are, we can still do good. Sometimes we forget the Doctor is old, but he (and she) is, and we can always go for a Doctor who can be crotchy, but kind. Grandfather time.

These videos are so inspirational. I love them a lot. Capaldi is either my second or third favorite (he swaps back and forth with Hartnell, both being a little ways behind Troughton). I miss him a lot. Whittaker has been lovely so far as well of course. I like all the Doctors. But I'll really really miss Capaldi. I believe there's an impressionist doing the Twelfth right now for Big Finish, but I do hope someday that Capaldi does some stories for them :)

after one year, I miss this man as the doctor so so so much
He really put his all into it, and he never got the appreciation he deserved
He had passion for this role, he really did. And Jodie Whittaker who really doesn’t have any passion for it, gets unlimited praise for it. I really wish this doctor had an extra season. And stayed as long as baker. I wish he had better writing also, Series 8 gave him a great character arc only to be wasted in most of series 9.
I realised, he still was my favourite doctor. He may have been the most alienated of all the doctors but in the end he became human

  • @MacGyver201

Interesting how since the start of new Who every doctor saw the first face that face saw as they regenerated. Nine saw people before rose but hers was still his last face. 10 saw rose first and he went back and saw her last (aside from the Ood), 11 saw Amelia first and he saw her on Trenzalore, and of course 12 regenerating in front of Clara (like Vastra mentions here) and his memories of her being restored as he regenerated, again being the last face that face saw. I presume the same or something similar will occur with Jodie. I really like the idea that the Doctor imprints when they regenerate, and are linked to the first face they see or the first person they bond with.

  • @carls7860
    @carls7860 5 років тому +9

Peter's amazing portrayal is why I have a problem with the 13th Doctor... he had a personality crisis that took him into soul searching and dark territory... then the regeneration just took all that away... I guess if you can have every cell of your body replaced then your experiences and your relationship to them would change ... but after spending countless years in a confession dial loop, Jodie's incarnation is the big kid again (Tennant/Smith) and had different filters (and little reference) to that testing time... it's a difficult one to process ...

Eternal life in heaven is a free gift from God. No human being deserves it due to his/her good works. We have all sinned and fall short in glory of God(eg.Jesus says if any man looks at woman with lust he has committed adulterly with her in his heart..No man is that pure😅). So how did God give us this free gift🤔? He sent his only begotten son to be betrayed, humiliated ,beaten and die as fine/payment for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Since he is a just God and has to punish sin. All you have to do is humbly repent of all your sins(read the 10 commandments) honestly turn away from them. Believe in/trust that Jesus did that for you. Confess with your mouth that he is your lord and saviour..You will be saved from hell🔥. The holyspirit(his omnipresent spirit) will in dwell within you and convert your cold heart of stone into that of flesh that can truly love God and be a slave of righteousness and not of sin. This might be the last time you read the true gospel of salvation..look around 🔥🔥 the end is nigh. Please don't reject God's gift. Your soul is on the line.Jesus loves you❤

As much as I love Jodie Whitaker as an actress, no one can compare to my Peter. His incarnation was the most human and yet most alien at the same time. He was by far the most complex Doctor of them all. Thank you so much, David, for continuing to look back to when Doctor Who was at its best, and for capturing the 12th Doctor beautifully over and over again in your stunning videos.
