Also, isnt it crazy how Nasu and Type-Moon slowly open up their main line titles to the west. Mahoyo is in Steam and Tsukihime Remake EN is coming soon now. 5 years ago i would tell myself i went nuts.
The grand finale would be a true fate remake.

Impossible Dream indeed. Right now i only hope we will get second part of Tsukihime Remake "The Other Side of the Red Garden" with rest of the 4 Routes, 1 one of them being New long awaited Remake content. Hopefully in 2025 or bit later since its Tsukihime 25 Anniversary. 25 years of Type-Moon.

You compare and contrast Aoko to Rin in personality, and I would extend that to their lifestyles as well! Just like Rin, Aoko is balancing life as a mage with life as an honor student, except that Aoko is having a harder time - Rin managed to both suceed at magic and have a perfect reputation with nearly everyone at school, while Aoko is known as cold and unfriendly at school and risks magical failure when she prioritizes her mundane life
Of course Rin lives all alone and doesnt know how to watch TV or get food delivered, so her life is probably much less comfortable day-to-day
Takeuchi drew the character concepts but all the art is drawn by Koyama Hirokazu

Welcome back! Three games at once might be a lot, but if you think you can handle it then go for it. They do make for a very good combination. Mahoyo isn't too long and it's only one route anyways. Just one correction: Takeuchi wasn't actually the main artist for it, though he was part of it. The character designer and main artist is Hirokazu Koyama, who could be considered the second biggest artist in Type-Moon, being responsible for a lot of CGs for most of their games as well as other major characters and noble phantasm designs.

Happy to see you back, played this game earlier this year and I can say you're in for a great time.
Mahoutsukai no Yoru Visual Novel is a Remake of the Mahoyo 1996 Light Novel script (yes, besides many other things Nasu was inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion after watching its 1st episode if you where curios), a first truly completed Nasu work with Takeuchi concept art, that was rejected by print publishers mainly due to length but also other factors. Nasu didnt want to compromise his vision so he just given the script copies to his friends and later shelved his own into save Takeuchi hands where its still placed with other prototype (there is a few) titles and ideas.
But the GOAT President Takeuchi did not accept this ending and in 2007-2008 he proposed to Nasu to come up with a plan to do a full modern remake of the work, in the Visual Novel format they already good at, which also would challenge even the cinema quality and industry standard's at the time. Which they did release in 2012 (Dev Hell was real) with the help of GOAT squad of Type-Moon legends, even giving 'the God Hand' Koyama Hirokazu (some of the weapons, armor's, outfits for the characters in FSN, FZ and FHA and etc is his work) team lead on the art direction, so yeah Koyama is main artist here and he is a beast of a man. Besides other notable people that was working on the game i have to point out amazing transitions and animation we have thanks to superb script director Tsukuri Monoji (which sadly haven't been seen in Type-Moon credits for years now). And such atmospheric and magical music is thanks to Hideki Fukasawa with KATE.
Nasu thinks Mahoyo style is more compered to a classic Japanese movie. Which is why the new voice actors was given direction by Nasu to perform bit more naturally, especially Aoko's VA Haruka Tomatsu. Oh, yeah, the original 2012 version did not have voice acting so it was interesting in a way. Tho both ways of reading Mahoyo is unique.
Essentially Mahoyo is one of the main Pillars of Type-Moon that starts the Nasuverse (just like short LN Notes), a good introduction to all of its main ideas from Nasu's head. The Mahoyo VN itself is set in the same type of World and timeline (with everything Magecraft related being the same like in other Nasu's works) as Tsukihime Remake Series and acts as TsukiRe Prequel in a way, so you're in a treat, Hope.

I also forgot to say that since Tsukihime and Kara no Kyoukai the Garden of Sinners share themes and ideas in some ways, but more so the fact that you will know a lot of more Mushrooms man lore: Mahoyo also acts as indirect prequel to Kara no Kyoukai by said lore relation (its a general thing with Mahoyo as you will notice) as well, you will enjoy hella more out of KnK now. Which is pogggers since KnK is more then peak already by itself
Essentially the lore in Nasu titles, especially magecraft related one, almost always similar or the same, even in different types of Wrolds (snice we kinda work with "multiverse" of Worlds and timelines in the setting here) unless said otherwise with spin-offs and etc
So in reality its (noticeable from the start) double treat for you to go about it and you're friend is based for that

Regardless, this is pretty good timing for these series, December is the most appropriate month for Mahoyo and it's on pc in English now and CCC just came out in English so you can check that out after Extra right away if you want.
A few more things:
The pronounciation of the names isn't exactly as it's written, so it's best to go by what they say. They use for this VN a different romanization system than the one most JPN-EN translations use.
After the end of each chapter I recommend checking the Archive. If there's something saying "new" that means it's an optional chapter that just unlocked, and it's only through the Archive that you can read them.
Gotcha I'll be sure to do just that.

10:18, yeah, TM not only didn't do any marketing for PC release, but also figured the English adaptation only means USA. And also used romanization for Japanese ppl and not English lol. That's also why you have a problem with Yamashiro being written as Yamasiro

I would actually advise to finish Mahoyo first, since its a first Nasu work and all, but more importantly its shorter then Fate/Extra and especially FHA, if you focus on it

@@Hopeful_Games The localization here is weird at times and not the best per se... As they try to alternate too much.
There is few moments like "If he could see her in this moment, Alice's father would have to admit that her name suited her perfectly".
This phrase puzzles the readers because what can it mean? In Japanese, Alice's name is spelled as 有珠 where the kanji 珠 means jewel, pearl, gem, etc. So it's such a play on words that it's difficult to adapt in another language so ehh... We get that.
But at least we have it and there is no good alternative for English speaking fans (Hollow Moon attempt on Mahoyo was a disgrace and they where Ratioed by true Nasu fans Tsukihimates with TsukRe quality EN patch), oh man.
