Hi Dominic, thank you for sharing Nextool Multitool. Here share you some information for your reference. 1, Black Knight: we have 2 version, one with liner lock for knife, and another without. Two months ago I was organizing my edc stuff, and my 9 year old daughter talked me into giving her my Leatherman Squirt. She lost it on a playground two days later.
The mini flagship is killer, destroys just about every other mini multitool for the scissors alone. They neatly filled the huge chasm left by leatherman abandoning the squirt.
the scissors (at least on the one i got) are trash honestly... so much slop that you have to apply pressure conciously on one side to get them to cut at all and the screwed pivot backs out making adjustment short lived
Excellent vid. I am in the UK and I like that Blacknight Nextool has a slip joint blade, all I would do is snap off the lock for the saw and it is UK legal carry as I have done with many multitools I carry with just a slight tightening of the hinge screws.
I’m watching this video because I need to get another NextTool (because they’ve been my favorite for years) because the locking mechanism on my Mini Flagship broke after almost 4 years in my pocket. Worked like a charm, highly recommend, in 4 years i got my money’s worth several times over
I just got a Nextool Black Knight today, found it at a hardware shop and after feeling it out decided to take them home. During work I EDC both a Gerber Center-Drive and a SOG Powerpint (Black) as sometimes you just need a second pair of pliers. Where I would carry the Powerpint in free time I think the Nextool is gonna replace it in my pocket outside of working hours.
Me too. I’m a fan of the W1, and now can’t wait to try the W2. I like how they have no problem designing totally different models, Got to imagine they will keep innovation going for a while.

I really like the idea of having an adjustable wrench. Most of my plier usage is for a quick snug or loosen of a small nut or bolt. Also having pliers too is pretty great for grabbing a stubborn auto fuse or stuck metal chip while machining something or grabbing something slightly out of reach or where you cant get your paws into. Having both seems like a super idea. Add in a decent outside blade and file with a good driver tool set like the leatherman rebar has and im sold for a work tool.
great to see the upgrade to the mini Sailor my key chain ring holder broke the Back of the philips driver so its hard too open now still usabel but great that its fixt in the new models
I really like the mini flagship it’s cheap to buy, (often around £10), small and light, fits on a key ring without feeling bulky in your pocket, it feels tiny in my hands but when you open it up the pliers and scissors feels substantial. I much prefer it to the mini sailor.
@@numerouno7874I saw somebody else make a similiar comment. I will still buy another as I gave my previous one away. It might have been a quality control issue.
Great review! I'm happy with my Mini Flagship so far -- really like having both the large scissors and large pliers. Could you do a video (or have you already done one) about how to add a pocket clip to a keychain multitool? Thanks!
Great video! These are the bit adapters that fit the Victorinox in line Phillips. I love the W2 (from AE) and Black Wrench. The Black Wrench is in my toolbox and the W2 I EDC from time to time as needed. It's so thin, it disappears. I've ordered your TSA Sailor and looking forward to it.
Thanks for your overview of these tools. It's a shame the Mini Flagship is so fragile. I bought mine because it has relatively big pliers and scissors in the same tool, unlike the Mini Sailor versions (original version with big pliers and small scissors, Scissors version with big scissors and small pliers). Nextool should swap any Mini Flagship with these defective, broken springs for a Mini Sailor or Mini Sailor Scissors as a good will gesture for their customers.
In some of their brochures they mention a warranty but not sure if it includes the smaller products or if it’s as straightforward to replace as with Gerber/Leatherman
hi, as for the spring broken issue, we already upgrade, the production of new version will finished at the end of June. let's looking forward to the new version.🙂
W2 is close to an insta-buy for me but I do think a bladeless version would be nice - as stated the knife isn’t much anyway, so perhaps the slot could go to another tool (scissors, smaller flathead, the SIM extractor, the ol’ bottle opener, etc.)
Black adjustable wrench one has some serious quality control issues. The one I got has burr on wire cutters, so pliers weren't pressed in fully and they have some slop to them as a result. Saw blade doesn't lock without assistance. Handles of the tool don't meet each other when folded so the tool lies slightly crooked. And the usual issue of an adjustable wrench having a lot of play not only in the sliding part (on all axis lol) but also in the wheel. I really can't recommend this tool for the price unless you have to have this exact set of tools in your pocket...
Honestly, awesome pliers and scisors along with decent blade is all i need in a multitool. Never saw such combination in any other tool which is why i consider these multitools just the best. I dont care for better materials or craftmanship on letherman or gerber etc ... As long as they will deliver such combination.
Man i wish this video of you came out a week earlier. I just got my flagship pro yesterday. I went with the dark version which happen to have nonlock blade. The seller did state that but i didn't notice.
My problem with the Mini Sailor (pliers version) is that the tab to get the scissors out always breaks my fingernail. If I use the scissors a lot this becomes a big annoyance and it makes me hesitant to use the scissors as much as I'd like. (Note: I have the Otacle/Olight branded version, but I assume it's the same). (BTW: I'm looking at the Mini Sailor Scissors version as an alternative and I noticed that the one from Otacle has the can opener whereas the one from NexTool has the miniature pliers. Haven't seen that pointed out before.)
Really think Nextool has a good chance and they only need that steel upgrade to make them better. I have the Mini Flagship Pro; it hasn’t broken yet, but I do see its weakness.
I donno what to do, get a second hand Leatherman or Gerber. A new one (thinking for the knife less model.) Or get a budget Tool, but brand new leatherman Bonds aren’t much more than some budget tools. I’m even thinking of a second hand Wave and just taking the blade off. So I have a cheaper “safe to carry everywhere” tool. Is there mods to replace the blade?
I got the flagship mini recently and I just wasn't impressed with the fit and finish. It just didn't feel very good, which was very dissapointing because the idea of full-sized scissorsand pliers was so alluring. I returned it and went for the SOG Powerpint instead. It's pretty far from keychain sized, it has no large scissors, and it still didn't feel as quality as something from victorinox or leathermen, but I really like it. It has been my EDC for a few weeks and I've been very impressed.
