To ask buyers to pay extra to buy used clothes is crazy… I haven’t had a sale in 6 days.. I purchased a pr of shoes for 19.99 and the total was close to $29

Fun trip to NYC! I jist made several purchases on Poshmarl last week and yes, there were additional fees. I almost did not order some of my items and my sales have declined . The fee is listed as "Tax & Buyer Protection Fee" and for one of my items was more than the tax ☹
There are a lot of interesting thrift stores in NYC, hope you get to visit more when you come down to see your son. Glad your sale is still going strong, amazing strength to go to 60% but the less inventory you have for when your carpet is replaced the better off you’ll be. My sales in Poshmark (which is my only platform) have been terrific, more than I’ve done previously. Love getting more money but I have actually lost some for those $15 sales (make more if it’s $14 so adjusting prices accordingly).
I have 400 items in my closet and I did not sell a single item from the fee change until yesterday. I did huge price drops to get the sale - I had a leather skirt for $58 which I sold for $30, and a $65 fur coat that I sold for $48 (my initial price is based on Sold comps). While the messaging is that Sellers will make more money, I'm finding the price drops that I've been doing overly negate that supposed benefit. I also purchased two $20 items in a Live Auction and was a bit nervous to see what the fees would be. I paid $4.98 in Buyer Protection. If I wasn't getting such a screaming good deal (both items were NWT) I would not have made the purchase. I was happy with the 20% fee - easy for both Buyer and Seller!
I have 3800+ active Poshmark listings (women’s clothes, accessories, home décor) and sales are tracking the same, but I’m offering higher discounts. I can’t sell on eBay (long story) so I’ll cross-list on Mercari or Etsy. I was ok with the 20% fee as I’d priced it into my listing already. The new structure is hard to calculate and a real turn-off to buyers. I wish Poshmark had simply split the 20% into 15% seller/5% buyer or something like that and come up with a new benefit to justify charging buyers.

I was just in New York visiting my daughter last week. We wanted to go thrifting but we never made it. I’m sure the prices would have been outrageous in her neighborhood, too! Also, my eBay store has been so slow but luckily Poshmark has been picking up some slack.

I hate the buyer's fees... I would rather they go up on the seller. Poshmark has 100% slowed down since the fee, in fact, I had a $70 sale cancel on the first day of the fee stating the fee (a very large Item I would have loved to see go out the door with poshmark shipping LOL). I was having 1 or 2 sales a day and now lucky to have a sale a week. I have about 300 pieces of inventory... clothes and jewelry mostly with some knick knacks tossed in. Mercari has died and have maybe 2 sales a month now. I do free shipping on Mercari and that doesn't even help. I am a full time Appraiser, which I hate... but I guess, I can't complain because its makes the $$ when platforms do stupid things LOL.
If you are selling low cost items (under $15) you are now generally paying more in fees by about 75 cents. It’s not much but it adds up for Poshmark. Plus they are getting that same amount matched by the buyer. It’s not right. My sales are down about 30% on Poshmark during a time when sales should be up 30%. I lost a bundle sale on posh today because of the fees. Even though I was offering the buyer 30% off their bundle. The additional $30 in shipping, fees and taxes for just a 3 item $110 sale was too much for them and turned them off! We were going back and forth in messages and she told me directly that’s what it was
One thing I am not hearing anyone talking about, is Poshmark is also automatically giving discounted shipping ($5.95) to all ambassadors. So if you notice on your listings, it says "discounted shipping" under the price. So the buyer is getting about a $2 savings. However I am so confused about the new few structure. On Poshmark if you look under seller fees, it says the exact same thing as it does if you look under buyer fees.
I have started a BOGO SALE & 2 Free gitfs the buyer can choose for every purchase. And NO SALES. This is a great video. The emails you read break my heart too. I have a letter that Im sending to Poshmark and the CEO with any Poshers who want to add their name to it. At about $23 per sale & $5 cog you’re at $18 profit but how much are shipping supplies, gasoline to get to the thrift store Crosslisting service, taxes & the cost to pay an employee, what would be left? It’s a hypothetical, lol, don’t answer that. But that’s what I’m trying to figure out for my business & if it’s really worth it. You can make videos on the sales so that leads to more revenue so that’s a plus. Just wondering how others are making it work if they aren’t getting high sales anymore with the fee change. I’d have to cross list myself & not have an employee if sales go down any further. Just a thought. But to get rid of inventory & start fresh, this is what you have to do & I think you’re doing awesome. It’s a good choice.

Lori - I’m giving you a pass since you’re not from NYC. I’ve been to Cure “Thrift” and it is ridiculously overpriced (priced higher than eBay), the staff are snooty and the owner is a nightmare. I agree that it is beautifully curated but there is a lot of speculation as to whether or not it really is non-profit. Sorry but sometimes the truth is ugly. It's been crickets for me on Posh. I had my best month last month $1000. 00 in the first week. Now I've not made that all month.
I also visited Goods For the Study (the W 8th St branch) this past Monday. Small world!

Mercari did the same thing!! Andbis charging 2.00 to transfer a balance to the bank.

But only until end of year.
But it ends in December which isn't far away. Then they very likely will be charging for that feature.
Buyer and seller fees are now the same - that’s why you’re not seeing a difference in the language.

It is becuase of Mercari. Mercari has been more successful with sales and they have a buyer fee structure.
Mogi Beth had a really good one compares the prices before and after PM changes for the buyer the seller and for poshmark
