sell clutter for cash
I can't believe how much clutter can be worth!! Decluttering and making money can go hand in hand! It was such a good feeling to let go of more STUFF and bring some space, peace, and money back in!! I hope you enjoy this week's video! Thank you so much for being here! xo Lori
Love watching you deal with your rooms of clutter!! Just remember the Frozen song......Let it go, let it go....! LOL!
As for all my daughters tennis trophies, I took the metal plates off of all them and have them mounted in a shadow box which hangs in her room. There are over 100. She played competitive tennis from age 10 thru college. She’s married now but I love to go into her old room and just look at them in the shadow box. What memories.😊
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
I don’t collect anything. We moved in 2020 and downsized. Before we moved, I went through everything and either sold, donated or trashed most of our stuff. What a feeling. We now live with a lot less.
You should keep track of what you sell from your declutter and use that money for something fun as a reward! I love that you are so real! We are trying to do this as well!❤️
Lori just an idea: get a big tote for each of the kids and put their trophies, mementos, souvenirs etc in totes. Then let them know it's there and it's up to them what to keep, what to get rid off. Once they get their own houses you bring them a tote.
Did the same here.. and they won't take it..hahaha
Same they dont want it! @@barbaracahoon1888
@@barbaracahoon1888 omg I had a tote at my mom's house filled with my high school items. Last time I went home I asked her where it was, and she said she threw the items away as she thought I didn't want it anymore. I know I had a lot of Teen People magazines and other small items. My fault for not acting faster :(
Dance mom for 17 years! Custom costumes that are now my granddaughter’s dress up clothes. Yikes the $$ but daughter became a dance teacher and now buys costumes and lessons for my granddaughter. The cycle continues lol.
The journey is powerful. I actually feel anxiety for you at first and then joy when you get through!
Hi Lori. My kids have both moved out and I found the same thing as others, the kids don’t want their old stuff!! I donated their boxes so quickly and made all kinds of room for my husband and I to just enjoy empty space!! I really enjoy watching your journey. I’ve been there and done that and it’s so satisfying to see where I was and where I am now. It is truly life changing. ❤
Lumpy was crazy in the beginning 🐾🐾🦴🦴🦴🫶🏼So cute💋💋💋.
You are a good mom. Keeping all those keepsakes. I only kept a box for each and honestly... they can care less 😂😂😂
I definitely have to cut down on some of it.
Totally agree!
I spied the Gymboree European Holiday French / Poodle Beret among your children’s hat bin. I loved that line when my girls were little! I saved many of those pieces for future granddaughters (Godwilling!) as they remained in such nice condition.
YES! It was such a cute set. I have a photo shoot of Angie in the ensemble! They made the cutest outfits, didn't they! Glad you saved yours!
I noticed it, too. I worked at Gymboree for many years when my 3 boys were young. I only work there for the discount. My boys were always in either matching outfits, or outfits from the same line. Many people thought they were triplets because they were born a year apart, so I had 3 under 3:). Oh those were the days! 😊
Not sure if anyone commented about the Webkinz yet, but some can go for a lot. If the heart one is the Love Puppy it sells for $30-60 without code. I sold one with no code for $50 on eBay. With code, it sells for $200-250.
I knew it was a Webkinz right away after seeing the hearts, before you said that they're all Webkinz.
This is how I started out my reselling. I've been selling off my old clothes, etc. here and there for years now, and it has now turned into my side hustle (selling my old stuff plus going out sourcing for things to sell). I just pulled out 2 pairs of my old jeans last night to list, and I have a pile of other pants/jeans to go through to see what I'm done with. It really helps declutter.
I was also a dance mom! It was so expensive that I had my daughter pick which one she wanted, to continue to dance or driver's ed. She picked Dance. Great decision!
My mom just asked us if we all wanted our trophies (and we all just gave her a big “No.”
I’m a dance godmama. My 4 year old goddaughter is thriving in dance. I hear ya on the cost of dancewear and shoes. She is only 4 but we are doing the thing. Also, love the Strawberry Shortcake dolls. I grew up with those early 80s. I still have my dolls and my goddaughter loves them.
I sold a DSLR camera within 5 minutes of listing on poshmark
That's great to hear!! Woohoo!
Thomas the Tank Engine ❤❤❤❤ I tell my 21-year-old son his Thomas wooden trains will be part of our retirement plan all of the time. 😂 I used to buy him a new train wayyyyyy too often.
Oh my gosh, same! I gave 5 (large) totes of trains & tracks to my youngest son for my youngest grandchildren. I told him he is not allowed to donate them when they are done with them, lol. I will sell them & put the money towards my retirement. Ha ha
I’ve tried to sort photos to each of my children’s memory box and start putting who people are because years later it’s hard for the family to know . I’ve also put photos in albums any new photos I put in frames or have printed onto tiles or into books by the photo company .
Lori, you started the video like a true pro mom - didn’t miss a beat with Lumpy’s puppy antics 😂 He’s sooo dang cute!!
For the kids trophy put them on a tall wood book shelf or a china cabin with glass.
I am overwhelmed looking at that too because there is a similar area in our basement! It’s going to look amazing when it’s all done! Way to go!
Thank you so much Keegan! You should help your mom declutter, she'll definitely appreciate it!! xoxo
You did great… letting go of “stuff” is tough, but the end game is so rewarding. I have a “sentimental” box where I keep things that have a special memory.
Just opened your video and the little furball's cute face steals the show.
Dance Mom too with daughter from age 4 till high school. Daughter is pregnant with a girl and I am really looking forward to being a Dance Grandma!
Awe, I love that! Dance Grandmas are awesome!
Good Saturday morning Lori and Lumpy 👋🌞☕️😎 Have a beautiful day and a great weekend 🙂💕🙏🌷🦋 I love you ❤
This video was amazing.I’m so glad Tina was by your side the day you were trying to sort thru all of it.I was forced when I had my accident to keep what I could of my kid’s childhood memories.I lost a lot though.
So glad you will have it all for your grandkids!Excited for all you will sell too.
Can’t wait til your next one!Sending hugs from Va.Kisses to Lumpy!
You’re inspiring me, Lori, to declutter!! My basement is a lot like yours, but yours is more organized. Lol. Like you, and I believe we have kids around the same age. I am starting to save a very sentimental toys like Thomas the train for future grandchildren. I have bins and bins of old family photos. It makes me so happy yet kinda sad to see how fast time flies! ❤ Happy new year. ❤🎉ohh.. my girls were competitive dancers, since they were two years old and five years old. The money that we spent was insane. But, the memories are priceless. They cherish the memories and so do I! ❤
This was a great and very motivating video for me to watch. So today I went through half of one shelf in my linen closet and placed items in totes which made a huge difference!! I made 2 totes linens & towels to sell & 1 with items I want to keep. I found many items I totally forgot I had & will continue to work on this tomorrow. I need to finish this before I move to another area like I do some times...
You are an inspiration💖! Thanks for sharing!
I live in a 1962 ranch and we have a spare room with a walk-in closet that becomes the catchall for EVERYTHING. Sunday, I spent the day organizing and decluttering and it already feels so much better, but there's still a lot of work to do. Thanks for sharing your journey and providing me with the inspiration to make my spare room a space that brings me joy!
😂 what you do with kids trophies is take a picture and get rid of the clutter.
I think I'm going to do just that! I've already gotten rid of so many!
New Subscriber! This is my first video and IMMEDIATELY I want to know how you got your Balsam Hill Christmas tree back in the bags! 🤣 Mine is 11 feet tall and 4 feet wide (6 pieces) and we tried for hours. 🙈 Anyway… loving your energy and content so far! Can’t wait to binge more videos so I can start selling some expensive things from my own home. 😁
I quit buying outdoor holiday decorations. It’s super time consuming, a money dump (IMHO) & for example Christmas is NOT supposed to be about stuff. I decided to celebrate the holidays rather than “the stuff”. I feel much better for it.
I was a dance and tumbling mom. The girls had one day off a week and we loved it. I miss running the them to the gym and watching them
Decided to wrangle my inventory & crafts chaos today. In my tiny apartment, playing hide-and-seek with sold items is my daily struggle. No basement, just a guest bedroom turned storage battleground. The USPS boxes are my roommates because I sell on multiple platforms. Now, I'm drowning in gift basket materials, turning my home into a maze. As I decluttered, I stumbled upon lost items and uncovered unlisted treasures. Now, listing this newfound inventory is the next task on my to-do list! I'm really trying to get a hold of all the clutter and chaos, but anxiety is winning but I refused to give up. Right now, I'm just going to a coffee break, enjoy eating my banana nut muffin, and watch a little more UA-cam! In an hour, I'll be back to decluttering with renewed energy!
Your doing great Lori decluttering Just don't get overwhelmed Little by little ❤
Thank you Sheila. Little by little works best for me. It's so easy to get overwhelmed when I see it all!
Loving the content Lori thanks for sharing. I am a dance and cheer mom! I clean out my daughters dance costumes each year as she is in 4-5 dances and they accumulate quickly! I spent over $500 in dance costumes this year. They will resell for about $20-$30 for each.
I am decluttering from my home this month too.
Doesn't it feel good Nicole!! Keep up the good work!
I just moved to South Carolina so I will be selling most of my sweaters (4 totes full!!!😮) Thank you for the motivation!
I gave each of my four children totes with their trophies and childhood items. One of my daughters trashed most of it which was fine. I love that I let it be their decision.
That's such a great idea Kathie!
@@LorisBostonFound You just have to be okay with letting them do what they want with this.
Love these Friday videos!! Very inspiring! We all have so much in our homes that we can sell or donate. Feels so good to declutter. Thanks for sharing your journey!
Former Dance Mom over here. My daughter danced from the time she was 4 years old through her senior year of high school, with 10 years competitively. I still have dreams that she has forgotten a costume and I have to frantically drive home to find it. Such good memories! :)
Competitive dance mom right here! My daughter is a senior this year; it's bittersweet. All the money I will save! But I love to watch her dance. My daughter is dancer of the year at her studio this year, and she teaches tap.
On the costumes, Lori - I chose to chop them up, a piece of each will be sewn into her senior quilt with baby blankets, special clothing, etc. Then the kids have their memories in something they can use, and I'm not storing a bunch of fabric. But there are charities you can find online that specifically take dance costumes and clothing.
Oh Lori! I have 2 daughters who are 6 years apart in age so ended up with daughters in dance and gymnastic classes for 15 plus consecutive years and some of those years were times 2 with both girls in classes! Recitals, costumes, classes, etc. Oh to have invested that money in an annuity instead! 😂
Thanks for the declutter bug... I've been doing it as well ... Tomorrow I will work on a area
Like a lot of comments, I saved a lot from my kid’s childhood. My mom never saved anything of mine and it made me a very sentimental person I guess. But now that they are grown they actually want almost none of it. Guess they took after their grandma 😂
Also, thanks for sharing this journey. It’s been inspiring for me!
Hello, I am a dance mom and hockey mom to my two daughters. We just have to hope that someday they thank us lol. I have heard of places that recycle trophies if your kids didn’t want them. Love your videos.
Okay, you going through the old pictures is SO me & why I never get any further in my decluttering journey, lol. I start looking at the pictures & then take pictures of the pictures & then start sending them to my children saying “remember this? Look how cute you are” & it goes from there. The nostalgia of old pictures gets me every time. 😊
Thanks for your time
Hope i can use some of this lazy bones stuff!
Yep, fellow dance mom here. I let my girls choose their favorites to put in a bin, each (and I added a couple). We donated the rest to a local youth drama group.
I’m happy to see you have photos of your kids that you need to put in Albums. I’m going through the same thing too! Lol. It’s not easy to do this but it’s worth it! This video of your personal items hit me because I’m going through the same thing! Thank you Lori! ❤️
What do you do with the old photos?
I’m gluing rhinestones on my daughter’s dance costume as I’m watching. So I laughed when you made the dance mom comment.
We have started this process. What do we do with HS stuff? Prom, trophies, certificates?
You seem to be going all over the place.....instead of focusing on one area....lol
Just trying to address whatever motivates me to declutter.
I just love this series. Stoked about the sub series of the basement
Thanks so much Jillian. The basement is definitely going to take a while for me.
What I like about trying to sell items we are decluttering is the knowledge that if it doesn’t sell, I feel better about donating it. Sometimes I worry when donating that I’m sending a valuable item to be lost in bins or shelves at GW. Connecting someone with something they are searching for feels great.
Oh man. You are such a hoarder. lol. My mom was a hoarder too. Over the years she has gotten the hoard down to a more acceptable level. Was your mom a hoarder too? You could fund your retirement with all you have!
making nice labels for each tub would be super helpful for any family member to find things and put things away and I think when you look at a shelf and its all labeled it makes it look so finished and cleaned
I lol when you said "This is like thrifting but I'm in my basement " 😅
Great work Lori!!! Keep going! You got this!! Loved this video!!
Lori-Thank you so much for normalizing the decluttering process. Watching your videos helps me so much in deciding how to go about decluttering my own spaces. We appreciate you!
It is so true that as your children get older some things seem easier to get rid of. I feel like kids today don’t really want alot from their childhood. When I have the chance which is infrequent since my children are in their twenties and one is a teenager, I will go through a bin with them and say save or get rid of. It is funny what items they choose to keep sometimes😄
I love watching your declutter videos. This is giving me motivation to tackle mines.
wow happy found you tonight! i am starting to do this here...all mine in she cabin and starting to crowd house so thought to wn some sales for first time since ebay and posh and mercari are so slow
Watching this motivates me to tackle some decluttering this weekend!
Is Tina a collector or closer to a minimalist?
She is a minimalist but she has a vintage snoopy ornament collection!! ❤️❤️
You definitely made some real progress. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed and just shut the door.
I love the photo of your Dad with his parents. The photo of you with the bouncy hair is happy and cute.
what about Tina's house? does she need a decluttering video? 😃
Gppd grief I thought I had some stuff to declutter but you out do me 10 to one LOL
doll stuff would of really sold at christmas...mine did.
How do you figure out box size for shipping the items?
You have helped me to declutter as well ... Thanks
i loved this painting i'm giving this to my teacher
Think of it as job security I do😊
I 💯 agree about the memories we keep. Great job!
loved this! ty for sharing
Good for you, Lori. Lots of bard wprk
I'm so jealous of your basement space! We don't have basements here in FL. I love your slow fashion friday videos they are so motivational 💪
Hi Lori, nothing makes me happier than getting stuff out of my house! Wonder if you've asked your kids if they want the things you're saving for them, I had asked my kids when I was decluttering and they actually wanted very little and didn't even remember a lot of things I thought we sentimental, you might be able to let go of more than you think!
I love the bowl on your desktop
Oh my gosh when you opened that box of photos my stomach literally flipped. I have a set of those boxes myself and they are the hardest to conquer. Thanks for the inspiration and showing us all the piles in your home. It helps the rest of us for sure...
Dance mom 🙋♀️
Former dance mom here. The amount of money spent on costumes worn once was outstanding. 15 years of dance and 4 years of Pom.
Well done 👍
Thank you Anna!
The clutter videos have begun to exhaust me. I won’t watch anymore.
The first minute , I was so distracted by 🐶🐕🦮🐩🦴
