I think donating your dolls to a hospital is a wonderful idea. My daughter was born with birth defects and was in and out of the hospital for years (she's 16 now and perfectly healthy). At one doctors visit she was given an American Girl doll, new in the box. She was ecstatic and played with that doll for years. It is one fond memory she has from all the difficult doctor visits ❤
I agree, it would make some little girl very happy to receive one of those dolls.
Yes, what a wonderful distraction for children from the anxiety and pain of procedures. Glad she is doing well. 💗
Reselling can be a slippery slope to low key hoarding because we justify it as we are buying it to sell it I stoped doing that about four years ago I only buy things that are so unique and good that if by some strange reason the item doesn’t sell I’m willing to keep it and have a place for it. And that forced me to source less quantity and more quality and unique stuff sure I have not made as many sales ( it’s a side gig anyway) but I noticed that even tho I sold only 100 items this year so far they were all mostly bigger ticket items them previous year which were over 200 items so my totals are almost the same which shocked and impressed me so that’s where I’m at and I totally get why you are doing it too. Interested to see what your journey will look like and best wishes tfs ❤
Lori, don't get carpet for downstairs. You will likely have water in your basement again. Get ceramic tile and some rugs. Seriously. No one needs to repeat replacing carpet or dealing with cleaning up mildew, etc. Good luck with your inventory reduction!
I’m so sorry to hear about your father-in-law. My Dad and my husband’s father died 5 days apart; we literally finished my Dad’s funeral luncheon, changed clothes, and drove to the hospital to sit with my FIL until he passed the next day. Love to you and your family. ❤
I’m declutterring as well, it’s easier said than done. FYI I would put vinyl flooring in a basement that could easily flood again instead of carpet.😊
Same here! Pushed the reset button on everything. Reselling, life, etc.... it's been so freeing!
So sorry about your father-in-law 😞 I was crying right along with you. My dad died a month ago. Trying to get my business back on track after his long illness.
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Take your time with your business. It is all so much to process. Sending love.
I am so sorry about the loss of your father in law. I love your channel and how honest and real you are! I love seeing Lumpy in your videos!
The donation statement gave me tears. It would be amazing and so priceless for you in the long run. ❤
I'm definitely going to put something together.
Dana K White Decluttering at the Speed of Life has helped me so much.
*I listen to it each time I declutter.
Thanks for the remind to keep up with decluttering... I'm having a yard sale lol. I'm a caterer and have so much "stuff". So it's going. .. you too keep up the great work. .. your a inspiration
The donation idea is good.
I did that with my beanie babies inventory in around 2011.
This was very inspirational video. I’m trying to sort the clutter. I too have had so many losses. I lost a child and I started thrifting every day to relieve the grief. I am really thankful I didn’t start drinking. I just keep asking God to order my steps. I really enjoy your candid conversation and your honesty about the reselling business! Lee up the good work Lori!!
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during your loss 💙
Oh Lori, you made me cry when you talked about pops 😢 I’m sorry for your family’s loss. Sending prayers
Thank you Daniela.❤
So very sorry for the loss of your father in law. I cried with you. How amazing that your fathers were so good friends for so long. Hugs
I'm so very sorry for the loss of your father-in-law. My heart hurts for you & your family. I am the caregiver for my parents who are 91 & 89. I'm honored to care for them & treasure each day I have with them, but I digress. Thank you for your videos as I so enjoy them & my dog Lily loves you too. All the best to you & God bless...Paula
Lori, I was lucky to find you on UA-cam when I started my reselling biz 4 years ago during the pandemic. I have followed you since because of your total honesty and openness about your business and your family. I’ve learned so much from you!
I so relate to cleaning out a closet but keeping the items to sell - so that in the end I get rid of nothing 😂. I’m getting better at donating things that I’ll list for $20 or less, recognizing all the work it takes to list it and after I make an offer I might net $15. I’m not going high end but want my work to be worth it.
I’m ready to watch you with this new undertaking- I’m sure you’ll rock it!
So sorry to hear about your FIL. I hope he and your dad are whooping it up up above. ❤
I remember when you did mystery boxes. Those sounded fun and a good way to unload inventory.
The chair looks awesome! Going to look into for my MIL - she is having some mobility issues.
Yay July Babies!! WE DA BEST!!
It makes total sense to declutter items through your store! I can see the frustration as your inventory doesn't seem to shrink, but maybe if you focus on the number of items leaving your house every week it will feel like progress not stagnation. It sounds like you had thousands of items leave your life over the last year which is a win in my book! I wish you all the best.
Thank you Sue!
I’m so sorry to hear about your father in law, it’s a lot I guess the loss of your dad hasn’t been that long ago. Please keep thinking about jay and yourself. Giving you a virtual hug.
Funny. I started the same thing after a big sale. I had to reset. Can’t believe you are doing this too!
Love the honesty! Life is messy and imperfect so don’t be hard on yourself. You accomplished alot ❤
Hi Lori! I have been watching you since you started! I actually am going through the same thing as you. Decluttering, downsizing whatever you want to call it. It is so Hard!
I have about 1230 active listings. I am at capacity! I started decluttering small areas, and that really seems most effective to me. I've always taken stuff to buy, sell, trade, and mostly donated what was leftover. I've been going more often now, and have practically stopped buying .
I couldn't believe how much stuff I have hidden away places, especially my linen closet! It was way more than yours! Anyway, a UA-camr named The Minimalist Mom has really helped and given me a push start! Good Luck on your journey, I will be there with you!! : )
Decluttering so necessary and always feel better after I just hate the process but I’m trying to get better at it.
I've been scaling down & thinning out my 'stuff'. I'm a re seller but the market is glutted with so many sellers and the "lives" have affected sales too. I'm donating and giving away lots of items. It actually feels better to just give it away or donate and it's quicker. Good luck to you.
So sorry for your loss
I retire in 6 weeks so have been closely watching your decluttering videos as I aim to hit this house hard!!! Wish me luck xxxxxxoooooo
I'm watching how you're doing this. I have WAY too much inventory. I've been going thru and donating a ton.
It feels so good to let go!
same here!
I so much love your videos!!! You have such a kind, inviting soul. So sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad on Christmas Eve. It has effected me in so many ways.
I'm so very sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your husband. I recently started watching some of your videos and so glad that I found your site. Grief is a process,so take your time.
So sorry to hear about Jay’s dad. Prayers to you and your family
So sorry about your father in law, always difficult losing a parent. Totally on board with downsizing and minimizing, look forward to watching your journey!
lori, you had me in tears talking about your father in law. i am so sorry for your family's loss....sounds like he was a great guy.
i am excited to see your liquidation journey and how the sales roll in for you! i always love watching your videos cause you're so honest about where you're at in your reselling! wishing the best of luck on the clean out! 🎉
So sorry for your family's loss, Lori. ❤
Decluttering is my nemesis! I’m a crafter and I spend so much time looking for ideas and buying supplies instead of making the item. It’s humbling to see all my inventory just sitting here. Hopefully I can get on track. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Lori, Good luck with your next exciting decluttering project & big sale.
I am sorry ❤ for the loss of your father-in-law, the love you have for him is evident in the way you spoke about him. May you all find comfort in all the memories and your love. ❤❤❤
Yes when I started reselling I notice that having to much stuff, affects my energy, I feel moody and even tho I love selling, having to much stuff os not good for me. So I’m doing the same.
I love that you are feeling lighter rather than like it didn’t get better. You are my absolute fave reseller on youtube and hope it all gets sold soon! Here’s to new growth ❤❤❤❤!!!
Thank you so much!! This means a lot to me. ❤
Sending love and sympathy on the loss of your father in law.❤ I will follow along on your liquidation and decluttering videos closely. I am doing much the same in my basement. I have hired two men to come in and pitch. Then the carpet will come out and washable flooring put in, as I have 3 cats and a dog. Thank you for sharing your journey Lori. You are an inspiration!!
My condolences to you and your family. Let me 1st say how nice it is to see a reseller be open and honest about their reselling business. I'm excited to watch your process through this next stage of your business, Looking forward to shopping your sale.
Im so very sorry for your loss😢
I am exactly like you…a maximalist that yearns to be a minimalist! Im finally listing all of the jewelry that I purchased through Goodwill Bluebox, etc… It feels so good! I just want it all out of the house lol. Im going to start on the accessories next (bags, belts….). Then clothing. Im going to donate a bunch to a woman’s shelter. Honestly, it’s long overdue.
I love your honesty! Thank you.
I’m going thru the same thing with my reselling business. Went thru and purged and donated a bunch of stale inventory. Eventually I want all my items to be NWT and high end preowned items. Sales have been slow for me this year also. Partly my fault. Just can’t get into the listing mode. Sales are nowhere near what they were when I first started reselling 5 yrs ago. I think the economy has a lot to do with that. Not as much disposable income. I really enjoy your reselling videos and hope you meet your closet goals.
Being a minimalist is the only way to live. All that clutter and stuff really is heavy to bare..Cleaning is a breeze. You feel so different. Keep going…. You will be so happy..
Thank you for the encouragement!
Being a minimalist is not for everyone. I find it very boring. The key is balance.
Sending prayers and condolences on the passing of your father in law Lori. I am not a minimalist but clutter and accumulation is something that weighs heavy on my mind. This past year I've been decluttering heavily and I can;t tell you how much easier I breathe. I'd like to suggest keeping all shoes together in ziplock bags like Lavender Clothesline reseller does. You avoid "losing" them that way imo. I've also been waiting for you ladies to list a Pendleton flannel shirt you got a few weeks ago. Wishing you all the best on this journey. Keep up the good work!
Sending you and your family love and prayers. I'm so sorry for your loss. He sounds like an amazing father-in-law. ❤
You have our support! Stay strong!
I feel you! I had 1850 items & stopped thrifting for 6 months (only listing personal items to prevent my closet from becoming stagnant) & I ended up with 1560. It was frustrating to realize it would take a lot longer to get down to 1,000 items (my goal). I missed thrifting so now I’m trying to figure out how to do both. I relisted every single item 2-3x & lowered the price by half & even ran a B1G1 free on all items under $20 & only 10 items sold in 2 months. And a majority have zero likes (hard to sell with zero😅). I may have to donate everything under $25 & discount the rest.
Ok let’s do this! It appears that you have a huge feat to accomplish. ✨👍🏽
Wow! Jay is so like his dad. I am so sorry for your loss and send my kindest wishes to you and yours. You spur me on to clear our stuff out - I hate mess but, boy, it's amazing what we accumulate!! Xxx
So sorry to hear of the loss of your father in law, Lori. Sending love and prayers for peace your way from Cincinnati. XO Kathleen
Hi Lori. So sorry to hear of your father-in-laws passing. I know it must be a very difficult time. I love your spirit and your energy. One day at a time…you’ll get there! Keep encouraging the rest of us!❤ Love your channel!😊
So very sorry for your loss.🙏🏽💗to you & yours!
Thank you Tonia.
Speaking about this is a big blessing and helpful to many of us who are in this journey ❤thanks
Thank you so much, Lori. You have given me the courage to do the same. It’s time to simplify life ❤ Pam
Soooo relatable; I’m starting a similar journey. I feel like I can’t breathe in my own house because I have so much STUFF and not enough moving. Really looking forward to seeing more of your journey!
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my dad 3 months ago and it hurts so bad. Please let your husband and family know that we are thinking of him. Best of luck on the clear out.
Thank you Kimberly. I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending you love!
Sending condolences to you and your family. May your memories of him ease the pain of such a great loss ❤
Please read Swedish Death Cleaning. If anything was to happen to you, think of what your family would need to do with all your stuff. Sorry about your losses.
Sorry for your loss🙏
The problem with resellers is that the major source of income is from posting the videos on social media, it is NOT from reselling. I'm order to stay relevant with subscribers, reseller must shop/record on a constant schedule. So, yes they are over consumers.
So sorry for your loss. Got worried when I saw this title. I look forward to your videos to learn from your experience and expertise. You've been so helpful that I'd be so disappointed if you stopped. Glad to hear you're still in and excited to see how things go for you to declutter. Along for the ride!
Sending prayers and love to Jay and all …🩷🙏💚🙏
Amazing chair.
looking forward to these updates! proud of you for continuing to push through the discomfort and make your life how you want it to be! and your business!
Thank you! xo
So sorry about your father-in-law. Praying for your family during this difficult time. I’ve only been on Poshmark for 1 year, and I still have so much to learn. I sold on EB for many years, however I left that platform months ago. I have items from my EB days that I would love to discount on Poshmark. Is there a way to run a sale on certain items on Poshmark without having to put the whole store on Sale? Is there a way to run a Sale with specific prices, not one set percentage discount? I’m a visual learner, so a video would be extremely helpful if you would be willing, and time permits. Thank you for all you do. I have, and continue, to learn so much from you! I also love to see Lumpy. He is so adorable! Blessings.
Lori, Children’s Hospital or the Jimmy Fund clinic at the Brigham would welcome your American Girl inventory.
Sending you love! ❤to you and your family.
Thank you Martha. xo
You are an inspiration to me. My goal is to declutter too, home and my e-commerce. Thanks for that push that I needed. ❤
Many prayers for your family during this most difficult time💔
So sorry for your loss. Sending you love! ❤
Condolences to you and your family. Hugs from Vermont
I can so relate. I have accumulated so much stuff and unfortunately some of it has come from my family. My mom is in assisted-living my brothers in a nursing home and I got all of their stuff. I have Thrifted amazing coats and shoes because that’s what I like the best at dirt cheap prices, and they will not budge on marketplace, I don’t sell on eBay Poshmark or Mercari because I don’t know how and they want you to buy all the stuff for shipping. I don’t have the money for that and I don’t have the time so here at six.
You had a video awhile back on your inventory system I think you were trying out a scanner system. I would love to see what your inventory processes now like an updated version
Sorry to hear of your loss ❤
Hi Lori, so sorry for your family's loss. ❤ You are in our prayers. And I hope you have a renewed spirit in the reselling business as you discount your items.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m hoping you’ll inspire me to clear my basement this fall we need to get it wet proofed and it’s feels insurmountable to tackle all the hard goods I’ve accumulated. I’m hoping to sell my house and downsize but with all the clutter it feels like I’ll never get to there from here 😊
Sending you well wishes for your family during this difficult time and with your liquidation quest.
Lori I am so sorry about your father in law😢now your 🥲dads are together🥰
Sending my condolences to you and your family on the loss of your father in law ❤.
Great goals for your business, I’m excited to follow along!
Oh Lori so sorry for your family’s loss. Take care and God Bless🙏❤️
I’m sorry for your loss. I am so proud of you for all the hard work you have been doing! The basement looks great! Have you thought about doing some type of hard floors for the basement? It could be better in case you get more water damage! Def get a dehumidifier soon they help soo much!
I’m so sorry for your loss 😢❤
So excited and proud of you for taking on another huge challenge and step that is needed for you and your business. I can’t believe it has been a year since you posted your first decluttering video! So much has changed since then. I am cheering for you! I am very sorry to hear about your father in law. 🙏
Keegan you're the sweetest! Thank you hon. This year has been a blur! You know I need these challenges in my life to push me! One day at a time! I loved your haul with your roommate! I'm not sure if I commented. Proud of you!
I’m so sorry for your family’s loss.
So sorry for your loss!!!
Very sorry for your loss. RIP
so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom and dad now. they were 62 and 64. Im only 39... Far too young to have no parents.
I can sympathize. I’m 42 and both my parents are gone. Lost my mom when I was 30. Dad died right before I was born. It sucks but we’re going to be ok🥹💖🙏🏻
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your father in law. I hope your family is doing ok.
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your father in law 💔 My husband and I lost our Dads within 3 months of each other. Both were sudden losses and both were our favorite people in the world. It’s just something you never get over. Sending you big hugs ❤
So sorry about your family’s loss.
I should probably declutter too, but I don't "stress" about it , I know when the time is right I will. In the meantime, at this time in my life, thrifting gives me pleasure, I'm careful how much money I spend, and I enjoy myself. I lost my mother in June, hard. 😢
So sorry to hear about your FIL, sending hugs.
Great video! Hello from Northern California. I want to do what you do, declutter home and less inventory in my eBay and Poshmark stores. Organize!
Excessive hoarding, collecting, consumption are possible signs of depression. We seek to fill an existential hole with stuff, but it's never enough. We only get sadder and weaker. I am so glad that you are on the right track and decluttering!
I‘m unmarried and sometimes very stupid. I never realised that, if all goes well and you are really close as an extended family, you will eventually lose four parents not two. This must be so hard. I wish you strength in your grief and great success with your sales!
Lori, you're so good at making your sponsorship segments very natural and enjoyable! It's a rare skill. So, the chair looks really comfy - is Rocco still getting it, haha? 😂
❤
So sorry you lost your FIL. 🫶
