Thanks for checking out my video! I've been in to fighting games for a while, but I’m not an expert on every series, so let me know if there are any incorrections. This is my first vid on the topic and if people enjoy it I'll post more. Timestamps and music are in the description. Edit: Here are some notable facts I missed: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom was a main stage evo game. I do go over the game in the video though. Unlike Mortal Kombat, Injustice has a hold back to block system in contrast to MK’s button block. Also, instead of a traditional round system, there’s a lives system, so players don’t regain all their health between fights. There are also nuances with the combo system and buttons. Virtua Fighter debuted in ‘93, not ‘92. Channel: ua-cam.com/channels/CI7_gsp0EPwunViH4kPAAQ.html Twitter: x.com/Choicental
around 7:22 or so, you might think, "Mario Kart isn't a fighting game," as did I. until I remembered all the nights playing it as a 20something with my best friend and a 36-pack of beer. shit got physical. furniture was moved.
I find it hilarious how quickly brushed aside the Injustice segment felt. Like it feels like each game from a bunch more pile was explained more than the zoned out injustice.
@@Choicental Doesn't Injustice have regular blocking where you have to hold back? I'd say that distinguishes it from Mortal Kombat a bit. It also has a lives system instead of a round system, which means your health doesn't get refilled between rounds.
That's bc Injustice was always just MK lite. Which is a shame bc DC characters deserve more than just playing like a lesser MK character. If superman isn't 8 way airdashing or blasting screen filling laser beams in your DC fighting game, then that's not a real DC fighting game.
Turn the clock waaaaay back on the Sega Genesis . One game that caused friendships to be made and lost was Eternal Champions. No reason for that game to be on this list, but when I think of old fighting games that one comes to mind. Also Shaq-Fu. Never forget that Shaq-Fu existed!
It has counter mechanics in combo breakers, kameo's ARE assists, and "deep" gameplay considering it has fundamentals, footsies, combo execution, etc. The definition of easy to pick up but hard to master. It also doesn't charge real money for different color costumes and has more (free) alt costumes/gear than all of the other games combined.
17:56 Rival Schools is an absolute hidden gem of a fighter. Not only does it feature great mechanics you illustrated here, but it’s unsung for the story mode features it showcased: picking a team from the same high school allows a fantastic story mode feature with engaging dialogue, exciting voice acting (Japanese of course but still great to hear performances), and even light branching paths, plus every character gets an ending that is engaging for each of them, heroes and villains. As if that wasn’t enough, the Japan versions also featured sim modes playing like visual novel dating sims or board games that further drove the storytelling element a full decade before Mortal Kombat 2011 introduced the cinematic story mode. I’m glad to see the arcade version of Project Justice make its way to the upcoming Capcom Fighting Collection 2 but I hope beyond hope that Capcom will consider a comprehensive collection of the home versions that finally bring those awesome story modes fully translated to other markets!

This video is well done! As a fan of fighting games (KoF, Street figther, Tekken, Soul calibur, Marvel vs Capcom, etc.), I enjoyed this video very much! SUBSCRIBED!
I really enjoyed this video! I have only ever been into Tekken and Smash Bros. as far as fighting games are concerned, but with the announcement of 2XKO I have been wanting to get way more into them. I'm going to be checking out Evo this year and this video really helped me understand what I might want to watch/ buy next! :) *Stares at Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection*
this is an oddly well put together video for how much it's covering, usually these videos rush and the dude's talking a million miles per hour and barely really describing anything, even brushing over alot of shit to get that click bait "every fighter explained in 5 minutes or less" while only describing the big 3 and maybe like smash bros, but your script is just concise, well structured, easy to understand and gives a surprising amount of detail to each fighter given the videos length and the number of fighters included
DOA MENTIONED ❤ Love the series too much, it's what really got me into fighting games and it's still perfect to me. Sad that the franchise is pretty dormant currently, but it's one I still recommend to anyone.
Memes aside, Mario Kart DS offers a lot of technical room to grow with some of the most robust snaking and movement tech in the franchise, allowing for more player expression than just having good lines and getting good items. While it's inclusion in EVO was obviously a bit out of place, the game DID have competitive depth for a kart racer, and I spent a lot of time in the game.
Great video! Really enjoyed that, thanks! Some advice though if I may: you need to either drop the volume of the background music or do some EQing to drop the main frequencies of the VO in that background track. At times it's difficult to hear you and if I struggle with my pro-audio setup, people on on cheaper speakers/headphones ain't got a hope.
KI 2013 is for sure a GOAT game. Nothing else like it and was way ahead of the time. Still feels fresh and modern. Every FG fan should try it. It's a very deep game, with extremely unique and diverse characters and play styles. The variety of player styles/expression is huge too. The only thing some might not like (or at least not click with immediately, is the combo system. Which is genius and very engaging. Just not for everyone.
