I also particularly love the disconnect between him being presented as a brute mad man, through both his design, voice lines and adrenaline overflowing theme, but being the most big brain character to master in gameplay. You consider the prior three elements and you think he be big oonga boonga man the likes of Leo Whitefang, but he's the complete opposite of that. Even in lore he's actually a genius, being the one behind the Twelve experiments and all of that, but he still got that duality of being a bloodthirsty asshole. It's great.

I was never good at SF III, I played it at the arcades but was never good enough or had enough tokens to get good at it. Still loved the game though. I missed out on Urien in 3rd Strike, but I had sooo much fun learning him in SF5! His attitude, moves, and "alternate outfit" (i.e his 3rd Strike thong lol) were so fun! He's the character that really helped me learn charge characters better

Some legendary 3rd Strike Uriens are RX, rkf, Messatsu, Anago, and RB. RX is basically the Urien godfather. The best Urien is RB most of the 3rd strike clips used were RB. rkf is a lab monster you can find his channel on UA-cam he has some absolutely insane stuff on there. Messatsu is the personification of Urien rushdown.
I ducking suck at Street Fighter and Third Strike feels like a slippery mashfest to me (which means that I have tons of respect for every single person who plays this game), but watching video essays over all of the nutty characters will never get old to me. Great vid, sub earned

Tbf after the months that Ed's been out, his optimal combos with lvl 2 are pretty Urien-like in their difficulty and reward. Honestly the best redesign for a new character I've ever seen.

I really enjoyed this video, and while I can't talk about him at the level you talked about him, I'm feeling like he's popular enough to make it to 6, but not in Season 2. From SF3 series the character I'd like to come to 6 in Season 2 would be someone that had been missing from SF4 and SF5 so someone like Remy or Necro.
