@@Giotron It's so funny that how anti newer player King specifically is. His throws are balanced at higher level through a knowledge/execution test that new players will never perform, you cannot just start mashing buttons on King because he has 2 (at least) very powerful power crushes, and the only counterplay new players will have against grab is duck (they cannot break throws, and you also need to know TO duck), ducking also being a risky high committment option that could get you launched. A new player also probably won't have the wherewithal to punish the King player hard from a successful duck under a grab.

This showed me that approach matters more than most things people focus on. To get to purple rank in only 4 days of playing the game is insane. You would have never got there if you didn't prioritize certain things and put yourself in a good environment to learn the game. Memorizing the command throws and hitting them in matches in only 4 days was especially impressive.
Man as a person having played for a pretty long time now, hearing you glaze over Brawlpro just warmed my heart. Am so impressed by Coney picking up the game so quickly. Regardless of character choice that kind of stuff doesn’t happen by accident! Gives me the motivation to buy Tekken 8 soon for myself. I always kinda kept the game at arm’s length for the most part. It always seemed way more difficult than the 2D fighters and platform fighters I usually play. I also rarely really had good experiences when it comes to the communities of most of the other fighting games I played. But I’m really starting to get lured into giving T8 a try!
I like people critiquing your gameplay making excuses as to how you got such a good rank so quickly and so few people are willing to admit that Coney might just be good at learning fighting games lmao.
The truth that people dont want to accept is that in a game without actual straight up broken exploits like Gambit glitch and shit like that, winning the set pretty much inarguably shows that you are legitimately just better at the game than your opponent. As the wise man Sajam himself once said, at some point you have to accept that you gotta play the game as it is, not how you wish it would or think it should be.
@@lmao2302 Red ranks have some solid players, making it to purple proves that there was some solid Tekken skill going on. Sure it was with a character like King who's very cheesy but every character in Tekken is capable of some cheese.
I wish Coney could make more super super high quality videos like this because they’re so much fun to watch but the amount of time it takes not only to record but also edit and write the scripts takes so long it’s always a treat to see when he does them. Great video Coney would love to see another one similar to this one eventually
Fantastic storytelling and editing. This one deserves to be way more popular. Major props to Sajam for putting together an amazing event. Can't wait to see what content comes from the Evo trip! 👑
Awesome video! I was rooting for Team MYK, but you and everyone else was hella entertaining in this tournament, this was one of the best fgc experiences as an audience member, happy to see it was for all of you too!
He truly was....my fucking coach, what a ride yeah no shit winning in early ranks is just knowledge checks, most early game fighting games are. Check this mixup that no beginner knows how to handle, check this rushdown that every newbie can't handle. People act like the trenches of a fighting game are something so clean and high level, no I do the bare minimum over and over until somebody stops me and if nobody does all the way to purple rank then that's their weakness. Super get the "love tekken, don't like tekken" thing, the wall truly is enormous in learning how to play Tekken against people who know what they're doing. Glad you still enjoy it so much casually and will keep playing it for the future, there's a King in all of us just waiting to power crush his problems away.
Good stuff, Coney! These past 2 years have been amazing for fighting games, my love for them was rekindled by DBFZ, And now i mostly play Tekken and MK. You did great! And I cannot blame you for not wanting to stick with it competitively. I am just thrilled and so extremely happy to see more poeple get the joy of fighting games that I have. Hopefully one day I run into you and we can have some fun sets. Have fun at EVO! ❤
One of my favorite videos you've made. This stream series got me into watching tekken(I'm in college don't got time to play) but this was such a good video recounting this and I hope this does what the event did for me and get people to watch tekken.
This was an amazing movie that really showcases how incredible Tekken is, and how much emotion and passion there is behind it and how easy it is to grasp onto that flame and never letting it go. Tekken is a phenomenal experience. LOVED LOVED this video, super happy that you enjoyed Tekken as much as I do. Much love 💜
This, might actually be my new favorite CONEY video. Up till now it was the “Bad Things Happening to Good People” tournament video but, yeah this might take the cake. CONEY’s phenomenal storytelling capability paired with the beautiful editing and enthralling tournament details makes this, PERFECT
I initially scrolled past this video because of it being Tekken (I've never played it) but I gave it a chance for it being a Coney video. I have to say, I was as hyped as them when their coach brought them back and qualified for EVO. Great video, Coney, as always. ❤
Unironically one of your best vids man. Your storytelling ability is incredibly good and we dont get to see it nearly enough in edited content like this often. Good stuff
Honestly got emotional over the storyline of this video. Watching you guys get to watch Brawlpro win is a moment that doesn't come by pretty often. Powered by true emotion.
This is the most energy I’ve ever seen from coney ever apart from maybe the tie thing with TKBreezy lmao I love seeing it - YOUD BETTER GET THAT COACH A WORLDS GREATEST DAD MUG
This video single handedly convinced me I need to watch Tekken. Coney screaming in hype had me in tears, not from laughing, but from being overwhelmed with how much emotion and passion each moment had. I will never play Tekken, but god DAMN dude. What a good ass game.
If this is your first time seeing the Sajam Slam and the coach fight felt hype as fuck watching this, I'd HIGHLY recommend scouting out the vod. LazyMattMan and Brawlpro played a friendly set against Imaqtpie and Joey Fury (the people they would've fought if it got past the first 3 games) and they were incredible.
This may be the best video you have ever made coney. I have never played tekken or even watched the competitive scene but your video has gotten me into tekken as a whole. Thank you.

I mean he said multiple times on stream it's just not for him. The importance of frame data and the constant treadmill of learning isn't for everyone, especially if you have other professional or family things that take a lot of time.
@@AccelgorTheNinja He played king and did well. Playing King was bad enough, but like the Phidx clip said, Coney played Tekken to win, not as part of a long career, or as a fan assuming/mimicking pros. So he did simple shit, and did it well. Plus scrubs can't learn to break grabs.
Theres a quote from Tokido after he won Evo a few years ago that I love due to its simplicity, "Fighting games are something so great." I love this genre so damn much.

Coney not showing the parry against ERobb is a travesty. He was so locked in
Am so impressed by Coney picking up the game so quickly.
As the wise man Sajam himself once said, at some point you have to accept that you gotta play the game as it is, not how you wish it would or think it should be.
it's jiyuna, he has never been anything else than a weeb trying to tear everyone else down
Coney seems like a really good scrub technique abuser to murder scrubs.
@@lmao2302 Red ranks have some solid players, making it to purple proves that there was some solid Tekken skill going on. Sure it was with a character like King who's very cheesy but every character in Tekken is capable of some cheese.
@@anonymousnate678red rank players are not good lol
I wish Coney could make more super super high quality videos like this because they’re so much fun to watch but the amount of time it takes not only to record but also edit and write the scripts takes so long it’s always a treat to see when he does them. Great video Coney would love to see another one similar to this one eventually
WE LOVE JACK JESUS OOOO
Fantastic storytelling and editing. This one deserves to be way more popular. Major props to Sajam for putting together an amazing event. Can't wait to see what content comes from the Evo trip! 👑
Watching coney improve at this game and perform in this tournament was absolutely inspirational. Tekken is so much fun to watch.
Awesome video! I was rooting for Team MYK, but you and everyone else was hella entertaining in this tournament, this was one of the best fgc experiences as an audience member, happy to see it was for all of you too!
Coney was actually unbeatable in this event it was insane.
It hurt seeing him lose both sets to that lily player
Except: WANGED
@@YourTamedLion The Wang Factor hell yeah
Old people like you inspire me to play video games
He truly was....my fucking coach, what a ride
yeah no shit winning in early ranks is just knowledge checks, most early game fighting games are.
22:37 This is basically the early episodes of anime when the senpais start showing what they can do.
BEST VIDEO POSTED BY CONEY EVER
GREAT EDITING
i was there in the streams and holy shit this felt amazing to live through again
Love when Coney like actually makes videos they’re always so so good
this tournment was magical, and watching Coney's POV felt really special. amazing story telling Coney and brilliant editing Vince, Cinema.
This is the most energy I’ve ever seen from coney ever apart from maybe the tie thing with TKBreezy lmao
I love seeing it - YOUD BETTER GET THAT COACH A WORLDS GREATEST DAD MUG
Loved watching Coneys run from beginning to end! Shit was so hype and I hope he does this again with other fighting games!
Damn he has a mullet again

This video single handedly convinced me I need to watch Tekken. Coney screaming in hype had me in tears, not from laughing, but from being overwhelmed with how much emotion and passion each moment had.
I will never play Tekken, but god DAMN dude.
What a good ass game.
It always momentarily confuses me when I'm reminded that Coney is actually good at games
If this is your first time seeing the Sajam Slam and the coach fight felt hype as fuck watching this, I'd HIGHLY recommend scouting out the vod. LazyMattMan and Brawlpro played a friendly set against Imaqtpie and Joey Fury (the people they would've fought if it got past the first 3 games) and they were incredible.
nice mullet coney, looks great
This may be the best video you have ever made coney. I have never played tekken or even watched the competitive scene but your video has gotten me into tekken as a whole. Thank you.
First,
“He doesn’t care about being honest he doesn’t care about what’s fair he came to win” is absolutely hilarious
Second,
man Tekken is hype
This such a fantastic video, great pacing and very emotionally investing. Im gonna go buy Tekken
Team tournaments are just so much cooler and idk why
Amazing man!
I find this game fun too. Rarely played old Tekkens but I play this for an hour every couple weeks through share play.
Fun trying out which charcter works for you but need so much time to practice!
Mf didn’t learned Tekken he conquered it 🔥🔥🔥
THATS MY STREAMER 🗣🗣‼️
Mighty ruler is above average
My Streamer DOMINATED the IMPOSSIBLE FIGHTING GAME in 12 HOURS?????????
Ur storytime content is actually top tier, i know nothing about Tekken but i was hooked for the entire video. I hope Sajam (ot someone) does something like this for strive.
27:00 In the eternal words of Tokido, "Fighting games is something so great."
You can tell from the emotion of your delivery how much it meant to you. One of my favorite videos you've done, because it told the whole journey.
I literally jumped out of my chair when brawlpro did the command duck + grab and blue spark chaingrabbed after so many broken throws
Was incredible watching it live, good video coney and team
Thanks for not only participating, but sharing the magic of fighting games with your people. This genre and tekken itself changed my life and it warms my heart to see it continue to do that for others.

Where was GimR when this happened?
Glad to see you had a good time and shout out to you, yall, and sajam for bringing more exposure to this game.
ALGO BOOST!!
Brawlpro is your dad!! #1 Best Dad!!
Amazing video. I'm sad to see you say you can't dedicate yourself to T8 but I get it.
Very happy to see you recommend it and also say it's very fun just too much for you right now.
Fundamentals translate, no matter what game. Some things are always going to be true.
Instant all-time great Coney vid. Your commentary really sold the emotional investment, and I was instantly sucked in and cheering as a tekken heathen.
THAT JACK WALL JUMP HOLY SHIT IS CRACKED
This tournament was my first exposure to Coney, and the energy that he brought to both his matches and gassing up Brawlpro was such a great augment to the atmosphere.
If you need help learning the game, holla
Kingjae yoo
i may know nothing about tekken but the storytelling here is just phenomenal, and what a journey to watch unfold too, from coney reaching purple ranks at record pace to his team's performance in bracket
truly inspiring, really makes me want to play King if i do ever pick up Tekken 8
The level of association between my streamer and Rosemi being this close is so funny to me. I was hoping and praying Coney would have to be matched up against a vtuber when I saw the list of players lol
He almost was, if he hadn't been moved up a tier he would have been up against Victoria.
He did go up against porcelain maid who is a vtuber.
As someone that watches a lot of Isaac, lazymattman was not someone I expected to see in this video, much less to be a GOAT
I’m so sad he hates this game. I know everyone hates him in the tekken community but I hope he gets invited to another one of these because otherwise this might be the only coney tekken we will ever see
I mean he said multiple times on stream it's just not for him. The importance of frame data and the constant treadmill of learning isn't for everyone, especially if you have other professional or family things that take a lot of time.
Wait the tekken community hates coney??? Lmao
@@blujay1294Coney is just the Tekken equivalent of an invasive species. The current ecosystem was not prepared for what he was cooking
The people that hate him are the idiots who shout at a wall that king is a piss easy brain dead character
Theres a quote from Tokido after he won Evo a few years ago that I love due to its simplicity, "Fighting games are something so great." I love this genre so damn much.
What a riveting story! I was cheering you on from the minute I saw you were on the streamer roster, and watched y'all play live as I prepped for uni midterms.
And thanks for your honesty about the game. I personally love it, but with the time available to me, I can only learn enough to play relatively casually. It's great to see how you came to your own conclusions about it.
Thanks for sharing this adventure with us!
Bro why the best Tekken video is coming from a non Tekken channel wtf. The video truly was a storytelling masterpiece i had the feels all along, great video. Wp bro
I love this style of videos. Keep it up!! Love your content
I love this form of content Coney! Please keep doing it.
“Your respect is not a prize worth earning” - Coney
Really loved watching you participate in this tourney and learning the game. Probably one of my favorite arcs of Coney's streams
The LazyMattMan x Coney crossover is INSANE
Really might be your best video, it honestly touched me
